What about books you still have in your inventory. We were going to be awarding players commander tomes on our server once they completed commander training. We ended up having all the tomes stuck on 1 player account when you ninjaed the last patch in. Is there a method we should use to get the refund for those books that have not been used?

What About WvW?
It is true, once upon a time we were a Tier 1 server, in fact we were a first place server. Many of us who we’re here before that accent remember the journey. It began with a WvW community transferring to Sanctum of Rall and they began recruiting guilds for the big push to Tier 1. For those of us who remember before those days we were ranked #17 at the time. The primary WvW guilds came from Jade Quarry after a personal dispute caused them to seek refuge.

The journey to tier 1 was exciting but was eventful. The conflict between the natives and the WvW elite created a divide and in the end that divide would send us back to where we began. For many of you, you might be in a similar place right now. A guild or alliance has come to your server and vowed to take you to Tier 1, even if it’s by “Kicking and Screaming”. You might see your current culture beginning to crack or maybe it already fractured. Competitiveness is a double edge sword. To be the elite you must be the best, you must make sacrifices, you must be willing to do what it takes to win. This in turn puts stress on a community and adds tempers and egos which can be powerful if used correctly but can also decimate if left unchecked.

The Community that Sanctum of Rall is trying to build is not one of ego and competition but one of player satisfaction and enjoyment. Of brotherhood and camaraderie. We seek to unite the outcasts, the overlooked, and the discarded to band together and spend the time we do share on the battlefield conquering enemy territory and fighting in the open field. We are comical, friendly, and open. We have a wide range of personalities leading every day, some lead high skilled groups, while others lead casual groups. But what I can tell you is every single guild, player, and alliance on Sanctum of Rall works together to overcome our foes to the best of our ability. Every person is wanted, and is useful. We may never see tier 1 again, or even the top 3 tiers, but that won’t stop us from having fun, making memories, and making friendships.

We do offer a wide range of WvW Features for guilds and players:

  • Weekly WvW Server Meetings for the competitive
  • Weekly Commander Training Events
  • More than 10 Scheduled Inclusive Community Events Per Week – Open to every, yes even our friends the common PuG. We love our PuG’s.
  • Commander On Deck system – Identifies and Rewards commanders and participants for service on the battlefield.
  • WvW Leaderboards – For Commanders & Participants
  • Unified Voice Communications – For leaders and followers if they chose to use it.

I wanted to write this post not as a representative of Sanctum of Rall but as a fellow player who happens to be the leader of Gaiscioch. I welcome anyone who is curious about Sanctum of Rall to write Xivor.8754, Sscripko.5387 or Foghladha.2506 and talk with us about what you could expect day to day from our server.

We aren’t the server for everyone, we’re the home for many. I do hope that you will try us out even if it’s just for season 3 and see how life within Guild Wars 2 could be much friendlier and full of memorable adventures. Thank you for reading this, if you’ve made it this far through this wall of text chances are you’re curious. Reach out and talk with us. I’m certain that the home you are searching for is just beyond your borders.

Greetings Guild Wars 2 Community,

Through our adventures in gaming we often times find ourselves joining a place to be with friends only to find friends slowly dissipate and eventually the reason you came some place soon becomes null and void. Just as friends come and go, new opportunities to share adventures and form new friendships await just beyond your borders.

I do not come to you today asking you to join Gaiscioch, I come to you today to give you the opportunity of joining a server like no other. Our choice of server was not one where we just chose a server name, or a council decided upon it. There is no “Person” who once they quit we will drift away.

Our server, Sanctum of Rall is a living monument to a player who loved Guild Wars 2 and loved to unite random everyday people in glorious battles that brought total strangers together to form lasting friendships and bond over battle.

In a recent interview with IGN about The People Who Live Forever In The Games They Loved Colin Johanson said, “We talked about a lot of ideas, at the time we were right in the middle of naming a lot of the worlds for the game and so we felt one of the best things we could do was to name a world after him, especially because one of the areas he really felt he could help make a difference for the community was in World vs World. So we moved quickly, named it, and ever since it’s been one of the most popular worlds in GW2. For a long time it was one of the top worlds in WvW and I love we have a world with that history and hopefully we’re doing him proud.”

Our time in Guild Wars 2 is a living testament to Roger’s life, to his compassion, and his love for the public groups. We commit every day we play Guild Wars 2 to carrying on his legacy.

A Community Like No Other
What makes Sanctum of Rall so different from the other servers? Besides being named after the memory of a man who influenced thousands, Sanctum of Rall is also home to some of the most welcoming, inclusive guilds and communities in Guild Wars 2.

  • Weekly Wacky Wednesday Tequatl Events – Strange Themes Every Week!
  • Weekly Inclusive Tequatl Fights
  • Community Wide Guild Missions Events – Open to the Public, even other servers.
  • Expansive Website with weekly Raffles for Exotic items and Armor
  • Server Wide Charity Event Participation:
    – ExtraLife Charity Event – http://www.sanctumofrall.com/extralife
    – Pink Day in LA – Proud sponsors of this annual tradition

Our server community is committed to putting a smile on the face of players in fun and interesting ways. Laughter is heard more that rude comment, smiles replace frustration, and most of all we make it our personal mission to fill each and every persons pockets with more loot than they can carry. No really, buy bigger bags.

The Server Who Drops The Phat Loot!
In the past we have held events that gave away Legendary weapons. During the Great Tyrian Adventure season 3, we gave away 7 Legendaries to raffle winners one of which was Eternity itself.

Right now we are in the middle of our next Community Event which the winner will be the person who fundraises the most for the Children’s Miracle Network in our ExtraLife Charity Event. Prizes for this event include: Sunrise to the top fundraiser, Precursors for Second Place, Tormentor Skins for Third Place, 20-Slot bags, Fulls sets of Exotic Armor and more. It’s a consumable to enable the tag. Consume it to enable the commander ability. Once you use it on one character it’s gone.

The only thing this change affects is players can no longer give other players a commander’s compendium.

This was a needed change. I have the account max for character slots. Now, I have a feasible reason for buying one.

You will need 1 book per character…. This doesn’t mean you buy 1 and get a commander tag for all your characters.

If you were planning on selling them then why hold on to them? If you promised one to someone why didn’t you mail it when you made the promise? Why by 5 in the first place? If I had 500 gold laying around I certainly wouldn’t buy 5 of these.

As for the change, probably the old “must do content to get reward” mantra even though BoH drops (or dropped, do they still drop) from achievement chests.

Did you read what I wrote? They are Prizes for a charity event that takes place this Fall, the ExtraLife Charity Event. I was holding onto them for that event.

I don’t like this very much. By making it soulbound it served as a gold sink and to prevent people from trivially putting it on every uplevel they have. Now every fool, including myself, will consider getting one just for lulz.

The only way to resolve this is to add speciality tags which have a gold value + some other unlock ability.

Failing this, redundant ones should be reassigned to have a vendor value of 100g to be sold back.

You still need 1 Commander’s Compendium per character you want the commander tag on. The change just made it so Guild Leaders can’t give players within their guild a Commander’s Compendium when they have proven their leadership ability. You can pass it between your own characters but you can’t pass it to another player.

My dilemma came from the fact I was trying to reward people on my server for leadership and stocked up on a few for prizes. Now that this change ninjaed on me I’m stuck with 5 books and nobody to use them on. I can’t give them to anyone, I can’t sell them, and i already have a book on all my characters that need them.

I really wish there was some kind of warning about this change. I have 5 of them sitting in my bank as prizes for the ExtraLife Event coming up this fall. None of which can be given to anyone now. So not only did I promise something I can not deliver now but I’m stuck with 5 books that I can not use. I am left with 1 simple question.

Why? Why was this change necessary?

Nice Website, GL SoR don’t fall into the depression state that some of the other fallen servers have fallen into. Keep fighting, now you don’t have the added pressure of T1 just enjoy the game.

Sanctum of Rall isn’t going anywhere. The past few weeks i’ve actually seen an increase in activity if anything else. The fights where we are, are phenomenal. Getting out of T1 has been a blessing in disguise. I used to dread my WvW events, now I look forward to them. Guild Wars 2 is fun again. With Tier 1 comes Tier 1 problems. Egos, Having to be the Best at all times, Bickering, and the well know bandwagoners that do nothing but complain all day. In the lower tiers people don’t play for wins and losses they play for fun. It’s been the thing that I forgot existed in Guild Wars 2. WvW has been the highlight of my gaming week.

Player ID to Server Validation

in API Development

Posted by: Foghladha.2506

Foghladha.2506

Greetings,
I would really like it if there was an ability to do a call such as:

https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/player_data.json?member_id=Foghladha.2506

and the result to return

[{"last_online":“2014-05-15 03:01:23”,“server”:"1013"}]

Something that simple would allow server validation for special access to server and guild community websites.

Game Updates: Guild World Events, Megaservers, WvW

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Foghladha.2506

I originally posted this in the last Megaserver thread. Since then I have seen megaserver in all its wonder and feel it’s much worse than I thought. Please see this additional post describing the issues we face. This patch essentially Killed any chance of ever hosting a public community event in Guild Wars 2.

Megaserver = Megamess for Guild Missions
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/missions/Megaserver-Megamess-for-Guild-Missions/first#post3924070

ORIGINAL POST—-

Greetings,
Many of you may know me as the leader of Gaiscioch [GSCH] a 13 year old gaming community who has spanned 4 games and now entering our 5th. I am also a man whose life was affected by Roger Oldroar Rall and organized a group of his friends and family to help influence ArenaNet to get a server named in his memory.

I understand the goals behind the MegaServer:

1. Avoid Server Closures / Mergers
The Megaserver concept pushes servers together so that they are 1 group of people sharing the same game world. This is a fantastic concept and from a PR perspective brilliant. Instead of the gaming press reporting about server closures and mergers (as you know they would) putting a negative tone on your product and usually causing a snowball effect, you can avoid all this by megaservering up.
2. Putting people in empty zones.
As the population has progressed and spread out, population in non-champ farm zones or Orr has dwindled. This system would allow everyone who IS playing in a zone that’s not as popular as it once was to have people to play with. This is a great concept.
3. Putting more opportunity to make new guild mates.

By pushing the community together guilds can have a much larger recruiting pool. However the problem then becomes how to get them to be able to play with you in WvW.

All of these concepts are great on paper however in application there are some things that you need to think about.

1. The Death of Server Communities.
By Megaservering if your server is not a 100% WvW dedicated place, such as Sanctum of Rall, your zones will be filled with foreigners, people who you have fought against for over a year and a half, who’s blood boils at the mere sight of you. We’ve all seen it, you’re in an overflow and someone starts up with the server bashing. This is going to be day in day out every day in Guild Wars 2 from this day forward. The bad blood is going to be spilled out all over our capital cities, our formerly friendly zones, and fill our chats.

2. Public Community Events
In addition think about events like the Great Tyrian Adventure where 150 people from all of the guilds on Sanctum of Rall pull together for a few events per week to play together and make some epic memories. In the new system all of the servers flood into instances of the zone. Getting those 150 people into the same 2 overflows will become increasingly more difficult. See the Lion’s Arch event for example. Getting into the same instance with 30 of your friends was impossible. Imagine trying to do that with 150+. The megaserver will prevent things like Great Tyrian Adventure from happening altogether. Imagine trying to talk 150 people into getting into the same map to complete as task. Can we say migraine?
Goodbye to Server Climate
The server climate we all have come to love over the years will now be gone. You’ll be mixed into all servers and the feeling of server pride will solely be one for WvW players. For the better part of the past 2 years I have been giving bags out to new players on Sanctum of Rall to thank them for calling us home. On April 15th that will no longer be feasible as every player in the game would also share that zone. There is no way for me to communicate just to the Sanctum of Rall players.

Server Communication
Before every WvW event I travel around and let people know where we’re going and encourage them, no matter the level, to come out and have some fun with us in WvW. I hit queensdale, divinity’s reach, vigil keep, and a few zones in Orr. Come April 15th I will no longer be able to do that as people will not be from Sanctum of Rall and will be unable to join us in WvW. With no way to communicate with your allies this will become an even more difficult feat for non-wvw focused servers to mobilize forces.

I see you objective and it is a valued one however I strongly feel that this is a bad move and will negatively affect the game in the coming months. You’re changing Server Community to Game Community and putting barriers in communication which will hurt those servers who have been struggling.

On top of that I’m pretty sure this is just the tip of the iceberg and soon WvW will be to follow. At which point there will be nothing left of the houses we built.
Please reconsider this option until you have some time to think about all the repercussions and the long term effect on communities.

Concerned,

Megaserver = Megamess for Guild Missions

in Guild Missions

Posted by: Foghladha.2506

Foghladha.2506

Last night I tried to run Sanctum of Rall’s community guild missions event which runs every Thu @ 6PM and Sat @ 11PM PDT (Server Time). I was hopeful about the mega server after it stated that people are prioritized on Mega Servers.

1. Friends
2. Guilds Paired Together
3. Servers
4. Mixed from other servers.

This concept on paper looked like if we group up first in a common ground (WvW) we could get everyone into SORC (Sanctum of Rall Community Events) Then head back to the PvE area to complete the guild missions. Usually these runs are an hour for all 4 mission types that yield rewards.

Last night however was a disaster. The above diagram doesn’t work at all. We had people who were repping SORC in 6 different versions of snowden drifts. The timberline falls challenge we spent 30 minutes just taxing people to the right instance only to find another guild kicked it off while we were trying to get organized. For the Bounty there was 4 other guilds there trying to dogpile him and the creature died before most of us could even get there.

At the end of the day we spent an hour and 45 minutes on the run and couldn’t even complete the puzzle due to the bug where the torches didn’t light. This megaserver has turned running missions to near impossible. Guilds are fighting over who goes first and it’s next to impossible to get everyone on the same version of the map. The prioritizing doesn’t work at all and the whole thing is quickly becoming more trouble than it’s worth.

This was my fear in the beginning when I posted about this patch. Things like the Great Tyrian Adventure (http://sanctumofrall.com/gta) will now be utter chaos and pretty close to impossible to run smoothly.

Please fix the system to get guilded folks together. Or at least give us the ability to select what version of the world we can join like Guild Wars 1. Coordinating larger numbers in PvE is now almost impossible.

Feedback/Questions: MegaServer

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Foghladha.2506

Foghladha.2506

Greetings,
Many of you may know me as the leader of Gaiscioch [GSCH] a 13 year old gaming community who has spanned 4 games and now entering our 5th.

Concerned,

Foghladha.2506

We’ve never really had the opportunity to take Great Tyrian Adventure to WvW as before our drop from T1 every map was queued for hours on end. It was impossible to get people on the map. Additionally the hard-core wvwers took offense to me being on the field before thursday in primetime. So I just kept my mouth shut and ran it as a PvE only event.

If you look at [GSCH] history, our first major community event was siege night in DAOC on Nimue, our second was Open PuG Night which became Battle for Badlands in Warhammer, our third was Telara Saga which sieged the opposing realms capital city.

GSCH has and always will love their Siege Warfare and will do our best to hold exciting events in the PvP front if the opportunity is there. Now that my chains have been lifted and I’m not going to cause problems within the server by doing so I do have plans for Season 4 to make a birth into WvW. I still need a few months to rebuild the loot vault and get the plans flushed out but by mid to end of summer I want to be rolling it out.

In the mean time I will be hosting Foghladha’s Speed Run Missions & WvW every Thursday @ 6-9PM PDT/Server and Saturday 11PM-2AM PDT/Server. These will spend the first hour flying through the 4 guild missions and then taking the party directly into WvW afterwards. There wont be any special raffle or anything but if things work right we will be laying the foundation for season 4.

If you’re reading this post.

A: You’re already on Sanctum of Rall and are here to show your support.
Thank You!

B: Were on Sanctum of Rall and for whatever reason you decided to peak out of curiosity.
I can tell you friend, Sanctum of Rall has really bloomed over the past few weeks. This turn of events was the best thing to ever happen to us. Through the ashes came a united forged server who has been sharing memorable moments in both WvW and PvE. We hold no ill will to you, and if you ever decide to return i’m certain you’ll see an all new side to SOR.

C: You’re looking for a new place to kick your feet up and call home.
I can’t and won’t promise you first place or even tier 1. What I can tell you is if you want to remember your time in Guild Wars 2, 5 to 10 years from now, this is the place to be. The fights since we left Tier 1 have been remarkable. I find myself just waiting for the moment I can log in again and play. The community has pulled together nicely and WvW is not about PPT or Win’s and Losses’ it’s about having fun and giving your enemy a hard time. We may not have 24/7 coverage but we have more heart than you’ll find most places. We’ve got people invested in this server who no matter what the outcome still push on and do their best to ensure it’s survival.

Talk to anyone who’s been out and about the past few weeks. The fights have been amazing. when we’re out our enemies run scared, and memories are being made every day. I never heard people share their stories on the battlefield as much as I have the past few weeks. Teamspeak has been filled with stories of overcoming unsurpassable odds, as well as a whole lot of laughter.

If you want to be in Tier 1 and be first place this may not be your best choice. If you want to have fun, well we can provide you with an experience you won’t quickly forget. It’s been a wicked good time out there and I wouldn’t be anywhere but here.

Did [GSCH] Gaiscioch actually leave SoR?

GSCH allows their members to play where they want as a Guest, however we do have a policy against using a roster slot when you are not native to SOR. Members who transfer off SOR are removed from the roster as soon as they are discovered.

Gaiscioch has been and forever will be home to Sanctum of Rall. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either insane or trolling you. When they close SOR we leave this game. We love this server and the memory of our dear friend way too much to have it any other way.

Hey Everyone,
The search feature has been broken for several months now and I know some of you would like to find topics here. So I will share my work around that seems to work pretty well.

1. Go to http://www.google.com/
2. In the search box type “[SEARCH PHRASE] site:forum-en.guildwars2.com”
3. Click Search Tools and narrow your search to what you want to see.

Google does a pretty good job of indexing these forums so it’s likely you’ll find what your looking for there. Enjoy!

The season is set to launch on Saturday, January 11th, 2014 at 11:00 AM Server Time (Pacific).

You can participate in any of the 4 weekly events to receive participation credit for the week and gain a raffle ticket for your chance to win one of many prizes. Events will take place Saturdays at 11AM, Saturdays at 11PM, Tuesdays at 10AM, and Thursdays at 6PM. Raffles will take place Thursday nights at 8PM Server Time and prizes will be mailed to participants throughout each week.

This season will be divided into three, four week chapters. Each chapter containing 16 events. Each event participants will be invited into Sanctum of Rall Community Events [SORC] for the duration of the event. For the first 15 events of each chapter, participants will run through Guild Bounties, Guild Challenges, Guild Puzzles, and finishing the event with a Guild Rush. Every participant who has not previously completed the weekly guild missions will receive 2 Gold, 6 Guild Commendations, and a minimum of 8 Rare Items. On the final event of each chapter participants will wage war against the Shatterer, Jormag, and the legendary dragon Tequatl. Each week participants can earn a maximum of 1 raffle entry. Raffles will be held on Thursdays at 8PM Server at Shaemoor Waypoint in Queensdale.

This seasons prizes include 18-slot bags, 20-slot bags, Exotic Items, Full sets of Exotic Armor, and 1 Legendary Weapon. The Gaiscioch is proud to continue their support of the players of Sanctum of Rall, and looks forward it’s most Legendary Adventure to date.

Hexin, if there was an official Sanctum of Rall forum I’d have posted it there. However not everyone on Sanctum of Rall uses, visits, or knows about SanctumofRall.com so my original post was posted here. I amended it in light of the current rumor mill. Check the date when this post was originally posted. Every few months this rumor crops up and starts circulating.

In regards to the comments about the state of Sanctum of Rall above. Is Sanctum of Rall hurting in WvW right now, yes, so you can continue to troll all you like. I’m not denying that fact.

All I’m saying is just because times get tough doesn’t mean Gaiscioch is going anywhere. We’re here to stay as we’ve always been. We are committed to our community and will continue to bring fun events to those that call Sanctum of Rall home.

I’d really like to know who is starting this rumor. LOL. It has been brought to my attention that yet again “I’m Leaving Sanctum of Rall with Gaiscioch in tow” much to my surprise. In the past week I’ve been contacted by several among the community asking me why I’m leaving.

If you hear this rumor you don’t have to worry about it. Gaiscioch is not going anywhere. Not then, certainly not now. GSCH is built on honor, integrity, respect and fellowship.

What does it say about our honor when we turn our back on a fallen friend?
What does it say about our integrity when we go back on saying we will never leave?
What kind of respect do we hold for a dear friend of ours when we quit just because we’re not winning?
Where’s the fellowship in committing to a community to just bail when times are tough.

The idea of leaving Sanctum of Rall is against everything Gaiscioch believes in and stands for. I am the ONLY guild leader in Gaiscioch, and am the Founder. I started this 12 years ago. There is no conspiracy to overthrow me and move off shard as I have been also told. I am the only one that has the power to do that and I cherish Roger’s memory, his legacy, and I will NEVER tarnish his memory by abandoning him. To you this may be a game, to me this is the only thing I have left that reminds me of Roger. I won’t let go of that. This is simply not even something I would consider and is quite offensive that someone thinks me a person that would even consider something like that.

I will be on Sanctum of Rall until they close this server. I said it 6 months after launch and I’ll say it again. If you hear someone say GSCH is transferring you can reply that perhaps they’ve sniffed one to many leprechaun farts because we aren’t going anywhere.

Number one, or number none, Sanctum of Rall is my home forever.

Furthermore, I am a HUGE fan of fighting titans. I hate being #1 because you have nobody tougher to face. You can’t learn anything unless you’re fighting someone better than yourself. There’s nothing more memorable than taking down a force twice or even three times your size. When we choose a battleground we go for whichever one we own nothing, the one with outmanned buff is preferred. Dominating our opponents is my nightmare. I like a hard fight, and Sanctum of Rall is in a perfect situation to have hard fights every step of the way.

I don’t care if we’re first place, I care if theres a foe to kill. Dominating your opponents just means they quit and stop fighting. A map completely owned means you have nothing to gain and everything to lose. A map completely lost means you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Opportunity is at our doorstep and I will continue having the time of my life trying to beat up Blackgate and JQ as long as they’re thrown at us. I like the odds, I like the challenge, and I love the fight.

Let me make this simple.

99.9% of the content in Guild Wars 2 is Easy Mode

If you don’t want challenge you have 2 options. 1: Play the rest of the content in Guild Wars 2, or 2: Play FreeRealms. That might be more your speed.

If 99.9% of the content in the game is too easy for you, might I instead suggest that YOU’RE the one playing the wrong game? I hear there are a bunch of ‘bash your head against the wall in frustration’ type games out there these days…

99.9% of the content in Guild Wars 2 is Easy Mode

For over a year now those of us that like a challenge have not found it in Guild Wars 2. Since this patch .1% of the content in Guild Wars 2 actually is designed for us that like a challenge.

If you don’t want challenge you have 2 options. 1: Play the rest of the content in Guild Wars 2, or 2: Play FreeRealms. That might be more your speed.

It’s about time that we have a HARD dragon to kill. The fact he died in the first day actually means he’s not only killable but he might be too easy. I spent 2 years trying to kill the Glimmerking in DAOC before we finally killed him. A hard fight is a remembered fight.

Thanks for the Fun this week TC and SoS. TC it’s good to see you guys are keeping up with tradition.. Keep it up and good luck in the coming weeks. Looks like we get to fight Blackgate and Jade Quarry again…

I think it does suck that being honorable now and not blowing out your opponents obscenely hurt our score so much we dropped to #2. There’s nothing worse than a scoreboard ticking over 500. Means the foes have given up and likely you’ll spend the night watching doylaks trot across the countryside.

Personally i’m a fan of tight matches, large and engaging battles and letting your foe build up their forces before attacking them again. Fighting unarmed or demoralized people just isn’t fun. It’s all good we should have some good fights this week.

Good luck to you both TC and SOS it’s been fun.

Thanks to TSYM and GSCH For coming out and parading with the DOLYies tonight Pies and tonics for all!

Good fun tonight on SOR. Asked people to leave the doylak train alone or join them in their caravan tonight. Fighting an unarmed foe just doesn’t feel honorable. Had some fun with TC instead.

[BUG] Bounties Do Not Downlevel

in Guild Missions

Foghladha.2506

Notice this today in Frostgorge.

Devious Teesa in Frostgorge stays level 80 in all areas of the map. However my level 80 along with the rest of the guild downscales to 74 in some parts. 74 vs level 80 who is bolstered because of the 10 of us fighting her becomes impossible to kill in the allocated time.

[API Suggestion] Guilds

in API Development

Posted by: Foghladha.2506

Foghladha.2506

Is there any way to list what World(s) the Guild plays on?

I think so. I’ll look into it. Like you said, it might get kind of bloated with stale information.

Are you planning on having a “guild list” api, like you did for items and recipes, such that all guilds are discoverable, or are you only allowing them to be linked to?

Not at the moment. For now you’ll need to get guild IDs as a result of something like the WvW status API.

I would suggest a simple:

/v1/guild_list.json?guild_name=xxxx&server_id=xxxx

Example

/v1/guild_info.json?guild_name=Gaiscioch&server_id=1013

This would return:

[{"guild_id":“XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX”}]

This call would help a lot of API developers easily find their guild id without having to claim something in wvw and hunt for the right one. Should be a fairly simple script.

Lastly you need to build the data to import into your table.

$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, “https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/wvw/match_details.json?match_id=”.$sormatch);

$eb_pts = ($eb_sc*5) + ($eb_towers*10) + ($eb_keeps*25) + ($eb_castles*35);

Then just take the values and do what you like with them. I insert them into a database. I also cron job the script to run every 15 minutes.

WvW API and Website Question

in API Development

Posted by: Foghladha.2506

Foghladha.2506

Yes. I first pull the world list and build an array of $world which will act as a World ID to Name Converter

$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, “https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/world_names.json”);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
$curlRes = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
$w = json_decode($curlRes, true);
$world = array();
foreach ($w as &$v) {
$wid = $v[‘id’];
$world[$wid] = $v[‘name’];
}
unset($v);

I then find the Match that my server (1013) is in.

$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, “https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/wvw/matches.json”);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
$curlRes = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
$wld = json_decode($curlRes, true);
foreach ($wld[‘wvw_matches’] as &$v) {
if($v[‘red_world_id’] == ‘1013’ || $v[‘blue_world_id’] == ‘1013’ || $v[‘green_world_id’] == ‘1013’) {
$sormatch = $v[‘wvw_match_id’];
$r[‘id’] = $v[‘red_world_id’];
$b[‘id’] = $v[‘blue_world_id’];
$g[‘id’] = $v[‘green_world_id’];
}
}
unset($v);

Then I build the Objective Array

$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, “https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/wvw/objective_names.json”);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
$curlRes = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
$obj = json_decode($curlRes, true);
$objective = array();
foreach ($obj as &$v) {
$objid = $v[‘id’];
$objective[$objid] = $v[‘name’];
}
unset($v);

The Big things for me as a large community manager are:

Status (Online, Away, Offline)
Account
Rank
Last Login
Home Server (Non-Guesting)

The HUGE part is being able to get Last Login either in game or out. Management of a Large Community is a nightmare without it. It’s responsible for many grey hairs on my head.

Perhaps they can add a guild table or a way to call a guild by UUID. I’m certain a complete data dump of all guilds is out of the question but it would be nice if there was some way to call a guild by guild_id

LOL you know the real problem is that in order to get gear to be able to compete in WvW people are forced to do the special PvE events for the gear upgrades.

Ironic how players MUST PvE to be competitive in PvP. Imagine if they included content within WvW that would allow PvP’rs to get the same gear the PvE’rs get…we may actually have people back in WvW having fun!

I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’ve gone into WvW at level 2 on 3 different characters and leveled to 80 without a problem. The only one I had an issue with was the Guardian. Until you get that PVT up your a paperweight. Maybe for small scale stuff it matters more but if your zerg herding or working with a large unit you blend in nicely even at level 2.
