They said they’ve been inspired by DAoC (the greatest pvp mmo ever, by far), but they made some pretty big mistakes.
Not if they don’t fix the economy, drop rates, remove the gear treadmill and give us a proper automated lfg tool.

I do suspect that drop rates in the game can be manipulated freely without notice or new builds.
Stop suspecting: They stated it in an interview.
They can monitor drop rates and change them whenever they want.
Because they want you to buy gems from the store to exchange them for gold.
Losing the trinity it’s the single greatest achievement of this game.
Go back to WoW or some WoW clone.

I agree that magic find needs to be changed in some fashion (like average it out among the party or remove it entirely or something else).
Averaging it is the worst idea ever.
Worked like that in Diablo 3 and people complained hard about it until they changed it.

I think that anet kittened up with MF and it’s a stat that should not be in this game. I blame anet, not players.

If I’m not running with some magic find gear, for your benifit, should I expect you to give me your loot as recompense?
I run full exotic gear with 3 pieces of ascended. I have between 70-80% magic find through runes and 1 to 2 pieces of jewlery. I have a luck sigil on my Greatsword that I use almost exclusivly in the open world. And I rarely, if ever, feel like the weakest player in a group, in the open world or in WvW.
I would love to have another few points in stats here and there, and a gimmick or 2, but this was the most efficiant way of gaining a stat for MY character that is supposed to help towards my goals in this game, while maintaing a useful, durable role.
But, if any of you have trouble walking accross Orr, either killing mobs or just running to where you want to be, you really shoulden’t be worrying about me. If you think Lupi is OP, it’s ok, people like me can keep him engaged while everyone else runs back. Granted some people take a parasitic stance, like others don’t understand compromise. But trying to guilt players into giving up 1 stat for another so you can do as you please, seems more selfish than someone like me. But spiteful, spoiled and indignante players might not see it that way.
I would be happy if the MF stat disappeared, but as GW1 players will tell you, the drop rates stunk there, and I as one of those people, think it’s improved in GW2, but nowhere near enough.

There’s good points on both side of the argument here.
For me, personally, I see no foul play in letting real life money buy gems which allows one to buy gold.
Essentially people have two resources to purchase things with: real life money or time (I.e. making money in game instead of using real life money).
I can totally see how some wouldn’t like this feature, I just don’t share that feeling. I have little money to spare in real life but lots of time at the moment, so I enjoy spending more time instead of money. Time is a resource I have at the moment, money isn’t.
I would be of your same opinion, if this didn’t meant that they’re pushing gems selling in shady ways, like lowering drop rates.
And YES, this game is pay 2 win.
Certainly not in a heavy way like many korean MMOs; It may be ligh but it still is pay 2 win.

I don’t think they’re ignoring it par-se, I personally think the executive made a business decision which was contrary to the game’s stated mandate as well as contrary to the November 15th patch notes. Further to that, I think the executive has gagged the staff and has forbidden them from commenting on the issue. Executives, especially those in publicly traded companies who have to answer to share-holders, often tend to be notoriously short-sighted. Big win now, with no real sustainability plan. At some point, major gaming press such as PC Gamer or IGN will pick up on this issue, just like happened with D3, and it will mean a lot of bad press for GW2 and ArenaNet as a whole.

Even though it may be a huge gold sink, the gap between the people who start farming for a legendary now and those who started day one is enormous. They are going to be be hurting to keep up with the rapid inflation. Seriously Zap has went up by 40g in 3 days. if you can make 40g in 3 days please share what you do :}
With a tangible achievable way to get them 100%, as crazy as it may be, would still be awesome because it would give us a realistic goal to work toward. I would gladly pay 1 million karma or like 500 of each dungeon token to get my zap :{
I agree with this, and was talking about it before.
There are people in this game who subverted its purpose by ignoring all content to power-level to 80 and hit orr in the first couple days, they then got to farm with NO DR for a month and a half, get their precursors, turn them to legendaries, and then put their copious extra gold into power-trading, market-cornering, and speculating.
Then they put in DR, slamming the gates to wealth shut for the rest of us, punishing people for experiencing the game as in the intended, paced manner.
now the only people who make money in this game are those first-gen power-traders and people who find and exploit holes in the game’s economy like the snowflake-to-ecto issue.
Meanwhile, the price of precursors and even normal exotics skyrockets faster than normal, non-exploiting players who are not already in “the virtual-1%” can keep up.
This needs fixing, or I see no point after reaching 80 of continuing to play. Why reach for something when the goalposts move 3x as fast as you can run?
You forgot to mention people who exploited the godskull bug and got lots of precursors before it was fixed.
Which are, most likely, the few ones guiding and abusing the whole economy of this game.

Honestly gold isn’t difficult to make and the cost of crafting a legendary averages to a relatively low amount..

YES, MF helps you get better loot. It doesn’t work with chests but only with loot from mobs.
The difference in “kill speed” between a MF set and a dps set is very low, and you will likely never notice it.

At this time, we have finished delivering the rewards for the Lost Shores event to all accounts that qualified and had not already received the chest. This was done through a coding script for any account found to have qualified for the chest and those added by development for special situations. If you have not received a chest then you most likely did not meet the requirements to have these items added to your account.
Now that said there does also appear to be some issues with the mail system. It seems mail boxes are getting stuck and not receiving new mails even when they are not full. So I would suggest clearing out everything in that mail box; after making sure to grab any items or money in there. That should allow more room for those pending mails to arrive. We have heard some cases where only deleting a few mails still didn’t allow the pending mails to arrive properly (for example some players may even show 1 out of 10 mails but still won’t get new ones). So I would again suggest making sure everything has been deleted in there, just to make sure there is nothing at all preventing the mails from being received.
As this was done through an automated process we have no way to manually award this chest. So if after you empty your mail the chest still doesn’t arrive, then your account was not found to have qualified for a restoration and I’m afraid you will not receive the chest.
Thanks anet, some people got 3 or 4, some others got one without even partecipating at the event or being logged in at the time, and people who got disconnected during it like me get NOTHING.

Played 10 games today (just citing today, but it’s kinda always the same), trying to do the monthly achievement, and got EVERY DAMN TIME against organized guild groups.
Now, my guild doesn’t do any sPvP (they mostly do WvW), so how am I supposed to do this?

AT LEAST until you fix it remove the “tournament victory” requirement from the monthly achievement and swap it for a “tournament partecipation” (maybe with a greater requirement).
I have played a lot of games that have botting issues, Fuz, and I can assure you they do NOT help the economy.
I played a lot of other mmorpgs. I play them since UOL.
I’ll agree with you that in other games they destroy the economy.
But here? It’s totally different. They, in fact, do help containing prices and fight people who abused the TP and the godskull weapon bug thus ending controlling the market.
They’re one of my favorite things in this game.
