I’d say remove ascended gear and infusions altogether.
Please no.
Either they remove it altogether (which I would prefer), or they leave it in the game.
I think I explained pretty clearly… I feel compelled to use it, if I want to have a chance at some decent loot or precursors (yes, I know… it’s a laughable chance. But still) and make some money to keep up in this kittened up economy (prices on TP are completely nonsense, I think it will very hard for new players to keep up).
So, I have to use MF and I can’t play the spec I want to play because I don’t have a choice on the gear.
(Anyway, I do a lot of dungeons, I just don’t like to group outside)

NO.
Please don’t.

As a player who uses a full MF set, I’d like to see it removed.
I feel compelled to wear it if I want to make some money (because I hate farming for hours and the less I can farm, the better. Also, the economy is calibrated on MF now) even if I DO NOT LIKE wearing it at all, it spoils my fun by, de facto, removing me the choice on how to spec my character.
I don’t think they will ever remove it from the game, but I sincerely hope that they will. But if they do, I hope they’ll remove from all the game, and not just for the dungeons (as someone is suggesting).
Since you start wearing MF at level 80 and not before, and since dungeons like AC and HotW are not level 80, I really don’t see the problem. At least until Arah or lvl 20 fractals.
Anyway, being a player who wears full MF gear, I cuncur with the people saying that MF is a statistic that shouldn’t be AT ALL in the game.

I don’t find the game hard, but I am EXTREMELY ANNOYED (to say the least) at attacks that you don’t see. They often oneshot you, but that’s not important… you should be able to see every single attack.

I prefer to play alone, most of the time.
I don’t like games that force me to group (to do quests, for example). I’d even do dungeons alone, if I could. Sure, I like to group every now and then but again, I don’t like being forced. This is one of the sides of this game that I love the most.
The reason is… when I play alone I can go at my pace. I can go where I want, when I want and I can “waste” all the time I want. I can afk every 2 minutes, alt-tab to do a quick read of the forums, et cetera.
I can’t do all these things when I’m in a group.
So, because ANet’s devs haven’t included a basic functionality in the game, I should go make an account with another site and give them my GW2 info? No thanks.
ANet, you made content that requires groups. Why didn’t you also making a group finder?
This.
I’m not going outside the game to look for a group.
Give us a proper LFG tool, with autogrouping and everything is standard for a 2012 game.
I agree with OP.
And thats exactly the problem! people measuring Gw2 like any other MMO even though its not!
It is now.
Page 2, 31st post from the top of this thread.
Already explained to you in detail how no its still not the same MMO.
And you’re wrong.
And thats exactly the problem! people measuring Gw2 like any other MMO even though its not!
It is now.
What is the point of this?
From the last Q&A it became obvious that they are not allowed to answer the real questions. This is a waste of time. They’re gonna cheery pick out questions again. Actual communication is not possible while Nexon/NCsoft stands between ANet and us.
The answers will most likely be generic and insubstantial PR again.
We can’t get answers, they can’t give answers.
It’s just a torture for both them and us at this point.
This.
However, not giving an answer is already an answer.
Good post, OP.
I still need to do all Arah paths for my dungeon master title. It’s incredibly difficult to find a group to begin with, then they often just want people who have already done it, then you have to open up the dungeon and then you can actually try to beat it.
I’ve only had two shots at it so far, both times with PUGs and while it were competent people, it just took too long and people started dropping out.
That said, I’m still interested in running it though I never made it past Lupicus.
Same.
This game badly needs a proper LFG tool.
You’re 100% right, but this an issue they refuse to take in consideration.
It has been asked many times, and it’s anachronistic that a 2012 game doesn’t have a proper LFG tool.
Easiest fractal in the game by FAR. Takes no time at all.
This.
After level 10 you will LOVE it.
You cannot do it again on lvl 12, I thought so too but when I did I did not receive the reward from beating Jade Maw.
The lacking of an LFG tool is the worst problem of this game.
We already have the answer.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/A-message-from-our-Studio-Design-Director-Chris-Whiteside
We’re not getting much else than this non-answer.
There has been a lot of discussion in the forums regarding the new Ascended items and the new dungeon design. Some players feel, that there has been a radical change in the vision of the game – that the game is taking a course that is inconsistent with earlier statements from developers.
So will they address this sensitive topic on Monday’s AMA?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/AMA-with-Chris-Whiteside-on-Monday-November-26/first#post827481I’m sure a lot of players have formulated questions concerning this topic, and below is one from Reddit, that suits as a good example:
G4: Can we get a direct, on-the-record answer on where vertical progression will be headed? Specifically as it applies to gear-checks and gated content? Will there be an amended manifesto, or are there plans to alter current content to align with the manifesto?
Reddit:http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/13lio6/prepare_for_the_chris_whiteside_ama_here/I’m sure an answer to this question is something a lot of us are waiting for in anticipation.
It’s a tricky topic to address for ArenaNet. What communication options do they have?A) "Due to this and that, it has been necessary for us to change the direction of our initial design philosophy. "
This wouldn’t improve on their damaged brand at all. People would still feel betrayed. Bad strategy, that is not saving any of the lost brand equity.B) “We do not think our philosophy of creating a great game has changed.”
The strategy of plain denial. People would feel even more angry. No one will buy into this – it will feel like a slap in the face.
This would be the worst strategy, further increasing brand damage.C) “We admit our mistakes of this and that, and we are working to implement a solution that will make everyone happy. Further details will follow.”
This strategy would be a better choice. It will buy them some time. People will await their “solution”. The future however will reveal what course they are actually taking.D) Not touching the issue at all. “What problem? There is no problem.”
I guess this is somewhat similar to option B.What do you think?
I bet 10 gold that they won’t address it at all, if not for a very vague statement which wouldn’t really say anything meaningful.
They will never admit the change of direction from the Manifesto, they’ll just probably ignore these questions.
I really hate what they did with this game, it had a lot of potential and was FINALLY a game where I could play without feeling the pressure to grind.
But I will be quick to forgive them if I heard a “C” answer (which will never happen, it’s the least likely of them all). In any case, “implement a solution that will make everyone happy” is not possible. There is no way to please everyone. Either you please the grinders or the laid-back players. A middle way will please no one.

I like it as it is.
It’s nice and relaxing to farm in there, it’s not an overcrowded Orr.
Agree with OP.
RNG is bad, it’s one of the reasons I don’t play WoW anymore.
Wouldn’t be a problem if there was a proper LFG tool.
Yes it should. In this game.
In other games, which revolves around the gear treadmill, it shouldn’t.
Some of my friends just stopped playing because of the lacking of a proper LFG tool (and because of the “ascend gear effect”, but that’s another story).
Way to go, Anet.
Since you start wearing MF at level 80 and not before, and since dungeons like AC and HotW are not level 80, I really don’t see the problem. At least until Arah.

I don’t think they will ever remove it from the game, but I sincerely hope that they will.
But… they DO sell them in the cash shop.
Buy gems→convert to gold→buy precursor.
P2W at its finest.
I agree with everything except number 2.
I LOVE jumping puzzles, they’re one of my favorite things in the game (even if they are frustrating due to the camera, sometimes). And they’re not mandatory at all.
Yes indeed it spreads like wild fire all over the net.
On another note, I will have to watch the development of Elder Scrolls Online. It is supposed to have a WVW style pvp. Could just be another GW2 clone. We will see. Thats why i bought this game, for balance and skill and no treadmill. I dont do dungeons and dont like to.
ESO will have the gear treadmill.
They stated it.
Too bad, the PvP seemed interesting.
But yes, Anet kittened up big time with this update, not only with the ridiculous gear treadmill (hey Anet? I bought this game because YOU PROMISED it won’t have had anything like it… otherwise I’d have just played pandas) and with the extremely dispersive FotM, where a lot of people can’t find a group because all are at different stages.
I know how this will end: They’ll give us an LFG tool like the ones in LotRO (the old one, it’s now updated… badly, and people still don’t use it: Do it properly or don’t do it at all) or TSW, two useless tools where you just sign on a list and wait (or check the list for people).
I’d like to point out that on LotRO and TSW NOBODY uses it, ever: Everyone just spam the LFG channel (and at least there’s an LFG channel). The only LFG tool that will work properly is like the WoW’s one (or the Rift one, as they say, but I don’t play Rift so I can’t tell), completely automated and cross-server… but they’ll never listen.
Since you start wearing MF at level 80 and not before, and since dungeons like AC and HotW are not level 80, I really don’t see the problem. At least until Arah.

This is exactly a gear treadmill.
Ok, you want to appeal to the WoW fanbase, but for me it’s the end of GW.
If I wanted a WoW clone I’d just play pandas.
Oh no.
Not another gear threadmill.
I bought this game because it wasn’t a stupid threadmill like the other mmos… and now this.
Sometimes I miss the subscription format, at least I could have expressed my disappointment by not renewing.
I’m stuck too.
This is really annoying.
I agree, TERRIBLE timing.
Doing a one-time-only event during a weekend?
TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE idea.
People have lives outside of the game too, you know.
Yeah, he looked kinda small compared to artworks.
Removing the MF stat altogether from the game would be a good idea.
Agree with OP. More than once I’ve seen people asking for help in chat (usually for a skillpoint), I did wanted to help them but in the end I didn’t because of waypoint costs.
Besides, porting to the Mists→Lion’s Arch→any major city means having at least 2 loading screens… and loading times in this game, for me, are a major problem.
I agree with the OP.
It’s incredibly annoying to try to jump without seeing anything because some kittening norn or charr are blocking your view.
This should AT LEAST be a solo instance.
The lacking of a LFG tool is the main reason I’ve stopped playing.
I did quite a good number of exp runs, but I cant’t stand anymore wasting my time spamming “LFG CoF exp” (or similar) while sitting in areas I’m not interested in and also having to cope to a flawed antispam. Not in 2012.
I’ll get back to the game when (if) they add an automated LFG tool.
Well said.
I’d also like to point out that “LFG AC EXP” isn’t meaningful conversation.
Random is random
There is no such thing as “random”.
Computers aren’t able to do a true random generator. There are what 407 dyes? Everytime you open an unid dye you have 0.25% chance of getting the 1 you want. Green dyes have a higher chance looking at the wiki there are 72/407 dyes dont know where you guys are getting dyes are class specific
Not sure if you’re implying it, but I never said that dyes are “class specific”.
I just said that there is no such thing as a “true random”. A RNG is a “random simulator”, and works by math formulas.
We don’t know how it really works and if there may be factors that could influence it in some way.
The chosen class MAY (although I think it’s quite unlikely) have an effect on the RNG “roll”.
that’s the idea. Explorables were not meant to be PuG’able.
Says who?
I agree with both sides. But like many said here, having to go to a specific city and spam LFG in chat is just an outdated way of looking or a group. Let’s be honest, it’s completely unnecessary for people to have to use map chat in a city to get a group. Just make any kind of system really that involves forming parties to dungeons. It doesn’t have to be “click one button and auto group”. Make it a list or something where you can sign up interest of a specific dungeons and add a little comment. Does not automate things but removes all the outdated unnecessary ways of finding a group.
Lists like the one you suggest doesn’t work. They never did for a variety of reasons (shyness, not wanting to invite other people, feeling it as a chore, not wanting to lead, etc.)
Lotro had one like it. Nobody used it, ever. People still spam chat channels.
The Secret World has a system like it, nobody uses it, people still spam chat channels.
It doesn’t work, period.
This game needs a LFG tool exactly like the one WoW has.

The token system is fine.

Well, as long as they don’t create a LFG tool like the one in that-other-mmo-we-don’t-talk-about because that killed the social part of grouping for dungeons.
People would just open LFG, wait a few minutes, run the dungeon as fast as possible and leave. That’s not how an MMO should be played.
Last sunday I was chatting with another player while we waited for other people to join our group and he/she invited me to join his/her guild which I accepted. This would never happen with a LFG tool.
On the contrary today I spend 40 min lf 1 last person for dungeon and we disbanded and stopped playing the game for the rest of the evening highly annoyed. yea that’s such a wonderful thing.
Tough luck, I still wouldn’t want it.
Then don’t use it.
