Although didn’t they patch the projectors to give the holograms more health specifically so they would stay around longer so more people could participate?

Current kite design definitely doesn’t fit their design philosophy of always being happy to see other players in the world. It goes right back to the crafting-node spawn camp they specifically designed against.

Whew! Glad to see the feminist boycott of WvW finally broke those evil male chauvinists at ANet.

We can now go back to killing each other in a politically correct environment.

LOL. When was this even brought up as an issue? xD

Ehh stop your complaining it was a easy why not fix. We can now mail our siege.

For what it’s worth, my post wasn’t intended as a complaint, just a bit of humor poking fun at this patch note.

Though I understand, with the current state of the forums, that it is easy to see RAAAGE in pretty much any post.

Which is the most downtrodden profession?

According to every subforum their particular profession is the worst off in the game :/

Except Guardian.

On the Guardian forums I constantly see Guard players saying something along the lines of, “On the whole, Guardian is a very stable profession. I’d like ANet to fix X, Y and maybe tweak Z, but we’re very balanced at the moment.”

I don’t see why the Bazaar can’t be a recurring event, just like a holiday. This is a airship market that travels the world trading with the people where it docks, right? Sounds like it should cycle around.

In fact, it would be kinda cool if it visited the other cities, drawing people there. We could have the bazaar 6 months out of the year, one month in one of the main cities alternating with month off in “lands unknown” before it returns again to another of the main cities.

It’d be nice if they could give us a more definite answer about how and when some of these things are going to return, instead of vague mutterings that they might. It would certainly make it seem less like “if I’m going to participate, I better do it NAOW!”

Then again, the monitizing department probably wants that sense of urgency.

The Historian - for people who missed content

Gibson.4036

I want to add my voice in support of a Historian or Scrying Pool like device for the temporary dungeons.

While Fractals make sense thematically, they don’t make sense mechanically.

A) They are randomized. Yes, you can drop out for another roll of the dice hoping to get the dungeon you actually want to play, but that is a work-around for a problem. When phase retreat used to bug you under the world on a regular basis, but leave you in combat so you couldn’t waypoint, was “just log out and log back in” a legitimate answer for why it should just be left as is? Fining a work-around to a problematic design (dungeon randomization) is not an excuse to leave the problematic design.

B) The dungeon gets tied up with the Fractal Level and Agony mechanics. Someone wishing to get a crack at one of the temporary dungeons now has to deal with finding a group willing to do fractal levels appropriate for them and the level of AR they have on their gear.

Fractals worked as a step toward appeasing the more hardcore players calling for endgame back when they were introduced. Those players are the ones who have run the temporary dungeons many times during their two week lifespan because they have the playtime and dungeon running skills to do so.

The people who are having problems with 2 week available dungeons are the ones who need to take them at their own pace, when time allows. They are not the members of the player base that regularly run fractals.

Nice one! I like it a lot too, I think that the light and medium armours are almost like another set of Asuran racial armour and I plan on getting both.

Funny you should say that. I had some of the Asura cultural pieces because I was trying to get something like this look, but they weren’t great. For one thing, I’m not sure why feature items like cultural pieces only have two dye zones, which limited what I could do with them. Also, for everyone’s complaint that medium armor is all long-coats, most of the pieces don’t look like full length coats. They are shorter, or only have a flap on one side, or flap on both sides, but not in the back… strange variations on the long coat. The ones that do look like long coats are pretty bulky.

It’s nice to have cleaner, steam-punk engineer look over the more rugged, rogue (wild west/assassin/pirate) inspired stuff.

Condition Builds what to do?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gibson.4036

Gibson.4036

  • eles are going to clear 1-2 condis as they enter water, and 1 every 10 seconds if they dodge in water. Cleansing wave is on a long cooldown. Wait for them to leave water, burn them with fire. If they’re running ether renewal, interrupt it with shortbow5 (its a long channel, this is very easy), but most I meet are running signet.

You forgot cleansing water. Remove a condition whenever you grant regeneration.

Soothing Mist : regenerate when attuned to water for 1 condition cleanse
Soothing Disruption: cantrips cause regeneration for 3 more condition cleanses
Elemental Attunement: regenerate on attunement to water for 1 condition cleanse
Cleansing Wave: remove a condition when attuning to water for 1 condition cleanse
Ether Renewal: cleanse per pulse
Cleansing Fire: remove 3 conditions (a cantrip, so triggers SD→CW as well)

Now this is all according to tool tips. I couldn’t tell you if they all work exactly as described, but I can say that conditions fall off of my D/D ele so fast I was puzzled by the face crabs the first time I went to Southsun. I could see the crab, could see the “face crab” icon, but couldn’t figure out why they didn’t seem to have an actual game effect. That was because in the normal course of play their conditions disappeared before I saw them.

Of course, an ele has to invest heavily in water and cantrips to do all of this removal, but heavy water investment is pretty common currently.

Now that I’ve taken to craft leveling my alts to 40 before I play them, it’s the dialogue near crafting stations that has been drilled into my skull. I like the layout of Rata Sum with the crafting stations arranged in a hub around the TP, so that’s where I’ve done most of it.

I feel sorry for that poor young Asura who wants to know if there is a position open for someone with a background in synergetics. Every time the other Asura explains that there aren’t, but those kinds of positions are very fluid so she should check back, I want to yell at him, “Give her a job already!”

And, of course, there are the two elderly Asura reminiscing about the Great Golemn Uprising, in which the male asked for directions and got hung up by his ears. I expect a certain amount of elderly senility could explain why they keep reminising about that time over, and over, and over….

Pirates are bottom feeding scum regardless of their flag. I wish we get the opportunity to flatten Lion’s Arch and all of its crime-loving inhabitants (past and present) along side all the other privateers out there. Kinda irks me that ANet decided to make that place the main hub of the continent (there shouldn’t be a main hub), but hey – it’s their game so whatever.

You know that Lion’s Arch is not run by pirates? It’s run by ex-pirates.

They don’t pillage and destroy anymore. They trade.

And apparently diffuse longstanding racial biases.

Honestly, I’ve come to think it’s not an issue with the Mesmer, so much as an issue with the OOC movement speed in the game. The movement just feels more natural at about a 30% increase. Almost everybody tries to get that as close to 100% as they can, regardless of profession.

That means sacrificing rune slots for Mesmer, and Guardians running around with an extra weapon they may not use in their build just to get from place to place.

You can buy the plain or strawberry cheesecake normally, but the popular “Death By Chocoloate Cheesecake” will only be available one day a month to increase its desirability, and you can not purchase it. You can, instead, buy the right to draw a slip of paper from the fishbowl, and if it has a star on it, you get a piece of the cheesecake.

After all, the shop isn’t there to provide tasty treats. It’s there to make money.

Some of us don’t operate that way. I could do a lot less work and satisfy both my customers, boss, and co-workers (actually make some of my co-workers happier because it would be less work for them), but I have standards of excellence that I try to uphold.

Not everything is about maximizing money for time spent.

Eventually that “make 10X the money” attitude comes back to bite you in the kitten. It sacrifices long term viability for immediate returns.

I like it. Exclusivity is good.

Exclusivity is pointless.

At the rate they’re adding skins, there will be enough variety that you won’t see everyone with the same thing except for the most recent release which will be FotM until the next one is out.

It boggles the mind how people expect to come to a game with hundreds of thousands of players and somehow be unique.

Nevermind the fact that making a lot of these things limited time gives them some exclusivity already, since anyone playing after the window will be unable to get one.

And I still keep eyeing my Mesmer at the login screen and thinking I should kit her out in power gear at some point.

Gonna need an extra bank tab, though, so I can store my full set of exotic Rabid gear in the hopes that some day I’ll have a reason to go condition Mesmer again.

There’d probably be less complaining if they would nerf incrementally, rather than whack-a-mole. Ele bunkers avoid the nerfbat for quite a while, then suddenly ANet decides to hit mobility, condition removal, and healing all in the same patch.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m realistic enough to know that if the only thing they did last patch was the RtL cooldown, we’d still have plenty of complaint threads. Still, there’d probably be fewer and not last as long if it was a smaller tweak each patch, rather than “OMG must nerf this build NAOW!”

Maybe all of the nerfs were warranted, but picking one thing to hit and waiting a few weeks to see the repercussions would help in several ways.

1. It would give a better picture of how a specific nerf is working, or not. With so many significant changes, it is a lot harder to see what any given piece contributed to balancing, overbalancing, or underbalancing the profession. There’s a reason why scientists change one variable at a time.

2. It would allow the meta to react smoothly to changes, rather than lurching about between FotM builds. Players could adapt to something like reduced mobility, or less condition removal, rather than seeing a bunch of changes and getting scared off the play style (or entire profession) completely.

If they don’t make money putting skins in RNG boxes, they’ll stop doing it. Then we can get the skins either through actually playing the game, or buying them for a flat cost in gems, either of which would be preferable to gambling for them.

1. No sub! You don’t have to log in a lot to feel like you got your money worth!
2. Power plateau! No need to log in to stay on the loot treadmill and “keep up”!

Since then we’ve gotten:

1. Dailies. If you miss them, you missed a chance at a laurel you need if you’re going to get BiS gear.
2. A new item tier, Ascended(!), starting an, albeit very gradual, gear treadmill.
3. Limited time content. Better log on sometime in the next 13 days, or you won’t ever be able to do this dungeon.

3. Enjoy weapon swap and two utility skills.

If you really need your third utility before going back out into the world, spend a little over 3 more gold to max Jewelcraft, and enjoy about 15 trait points and a major adept trait.

Pretty simple if you have one character at 80 already.

Once the champ had cycled back along it’s path and was headed away, I snuck back in along the wall, started the commune channel, and hit mist form to finish as soon as the champ aggroed and headed my way.

I’m surprised a thief was complaining higher up in this thread. Should be the simplest profession to do this on because you can stealth in there and use shadow refuge to do the commune.
