Of course that I don’t demand logic in everything.
I demand in something that is to become trademark of Guild Wars 2 – Living Story, to not be stupid.
“Hey, I play in that game that has this great Living World – you got mobs spawning that invade, but they just stand there. You get main villain who is defeated but doesn’t care. It’s really great, you should try it. Loot is in abundance, you don’t need to immerse at all to enjoy it. Ah, supposedly there is a story which is not told at all. You need to watch youtube to know what is going on IF you want to know. Really, great product of XXI century and veterans of MMO genre.”
@Tobias Trueflight:
That’s what I’m talking about. We are killing them. Defeating them. They are being eradicated. Chaos would be if culprits wouldn’t get caught. Here they are slaughtered without survivors.
We are not chasing them. We are massacring them without mercy.
Only Scarlet escaped and by it she should be left without allies, wounded, unable to endanger anybody while we are getting stronger by uniting in fight, by learning to coordinate.
IT ALL DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE!
Find me a group (and here we’ve got 2) that will be willing to die by the thousands just to create chaos…
Besides if we want this chaos to stop, heroes should stop going into the wilderness hunting teleporting groups which do nothing at all.
No big deal. If they attack a settlement, there are asura gates – any army can teleport there in a second and defeat threat.
Still my question stands – What is it all about?
Yesterday I was disconnected when 5 minutes remained. I didn’t get any reward or achievement.
Basically – somethings wrong? We fix it? Monsters attack – we kill them. Someones resposible, we catch him. All is done immediately.
And despite that we have done this all Scarlet attacked with full force and molten alliance still stands.
It’s just on so low level – storytelling and presentation (big battle with Canach? This tiny cave with mines in it?). I still don’t get alot of things. They are sporadic, minimal, hard to remember, not bolded out.
It seems that the story and details are reserved for people who dig deeper than doing what menu in upper-right corner tells you.
It should be important! The story, characters, motives. Don’t separate actual events from every bit of information about it.
Again I’ll say that it’s very weak, a lot of things are barely fitting at all to story in general. You want me to believe that one Sylvari managed to make alliance with Dredge and Flame Legion and tricked (she’s sa genius) them to just randomly attack here and there and later just send them to die. And they still happily die for her despite that she hasn’t done anything for them, they even had no chance to use what the alliance gave them.
Even the smallest of Charr cub would bite her leafs off after this.
Every time the story is presented in a way that everybody knows that something will happen. And we exactly know what. Karka attack (danger in the waters), invasion (Scarlet just came and said that she will attack soon), molten alliance attack (they attack farthest of places but to have things interesting not a single person want to tell you that either they were Charr or Dredge, even the mighty Norn who fought Elder Dragon…).
Why pirates attacked during Dragon Bash? They just spoiled their surprise!
A little spoiler of personal story below:
Where is the armada of ships that attacked Zhaitan? Even one didn’t show up to help the balloons (this still sounds so stupid…) which supposedly had to take important people to Divinity’s Reach of each race!
Don’t excuse it that they patrol Orr or whatever because they are not. They too aren’t damaged and repairing. And no crap about that they cannot be spared for humans because they belong to Orders. Aren’t Orders protectors of Tyria and made a permament alliance themselves?
On the other hand, we shouldn’t be surprised if we get Logan as a chief of defensive force.
Everything is put on a very thin thread and barely holding. The story can be a strong point of this game! Just force yourself to write more than 1 or 2 lines for each character to say! It even don’t need to be voice recorded. Just, you know, be there as text…
@Amadan:
Sometimes I really don’t know why people just agree to everything.
What you’ve said sounds like you never saw the game but heard about it.
Sure that we have endless mobs in the areas but they at least pretend to have their reasons – bees flying in the forests, spiders dwelling in caves, drakes living in swamps.
Now we have major event – invasion. At least by the name. They want to take our grass?
Today we have times when we can portrait EVERYTHING! Without a exception. In the movies we see animated animals that are hard to guess if they are really just an animation. Books should demand imaginations, thinking how something could look like.
In a game when someone says army we should see an army. When somebody says – defeat Jotun, you will fight Jotun for christ sake. But now when they said invasion we got masses of mobs spawning everywhere but not there where they should be. In this moment my imagination stops and takes a walk. Should I really just do one thing and think that I’m doing the other (fighting mobs in the forest thinking that I’m saving the world)?
It’s beyond any criticism. Next time when somebody says that something is happening EXACTLY THIS SHOULD HAPPEN! Or maybe Scarlet was the main developer behind this and you know… she’s a genius.
Divinity’s Reach was threatened? How? These 10 monsters threatened whole city? These 5 bombs that never exploded? Oh I know! It was lord Faren! He must have been the real danger! His beauty could melt steel!
This far-fetchet content must stop. Maybe there will be an explanation somewhere in this chaos but I guess if there will be anyone to care about it. Again, the game is deprived of any meaning or purpose. There’s no sense of advancing in anything – story, character developement, exploration, knowing lore.
We are not asking for too much. WE ARE ASKING EXACTLY FOR WHAT WAS PROMISED! Nothing more.
If we are to hear Queen’s Speech, we expect more than one interrupted sentence… sigh
I’d love it if they took over if no one did anything and killed everyone in a zone….but a lot of people wouldn’t.
So the content should be different to avoid this kind of situations where on one side it’s moronic (host of enemies spawn and just stand there and timer starts for them to despawn), on the other it’s preventing players not interested in it… well, to play.
Any idea what this something or the magic actually was for you? That would be an interesting point to define. What made it magic for you so far?
I get a feeling that you want to jump on me. Oh well.
I don’t know if I can find the right words (English is not my first language). Every piece of content was fresh. Content was varied, doing hearts, events, getting to vistas, doing personal story and branches in it – it was like watching a good movie. But it was better. First Charr map I’ve circled 5 or 6 times just fighting with mobs and gathering materials. I was excited of things that await me if I prepare properly.
Now playing with maxed character DOESN’T HAVE ANY SENSE! What can give you more gold, more materials or experience or even exotics which are dropping completely random (more useless gold). After reached lvl 80 many months ago I was still playing similarly excited because I was looking forward to new content, which I was sure will expand things that I can do with my fully equipped character. After a year it didn’t. That’s when the magic died for me.
So wait, let me get this straight. Are you saying that if they had offered more quality content the game would be less popular?
If so that’s an interesting point. As much as I might not like that idea, it might have merit.
You misunderstood. I’ve meant “quality” (sarcasm). We are getting very poor quality now. It is directed to one type of players – farmers. Rest are playing it because it’s Guild Wars 2, tot because it’s so great, imo.
For me it was not innovative. But it had this something to keep me for 1k hours. I haven’t played that long in anything from Diablo 2 premiere.
Now it seems the magic is abandoned because someone decided that the first priority should be spitting updates as quickly as humanly possible that took the game in different direction – action for masses. For me EVERY PIECE OF CONTENT IS BETTER IF LESS PLAYERS ARE DOING IT TOGETHER! Yesterday we did Claw of Jormag with about 10 people. It was a blast! For the first time I’ve enjoyed this fight. There was no pew pew, no mob tagging. Everyone was cooperative because otherwise we wouldn’t survive. You should try it, it’s worth it.
Now, would GW2 (or GW1) be so popular if it was packed only with the quality of content we received starting from january this year? I doubt it.

@Vayne:
Don’t find it so wrong that very the beginnig of the LS is introducet so poorly? There’s no visible information about anything. After so many months I still don’t know what it is all about in a bad sense. I just don’t want to know the rest. I wasn’t encouraged.
Personal story had so many different missions and interesting ones among others. There was something for everybody. Now there’s one tiny mission each update which is far behind of each other in Personal Story. I just don’t know why? The only reasonable explanation is that every ambitious concept is rejected because of lack of time. Only simplest ones are taken.
My another question is what happened that we cannot get something at the level from a year ago? More and more people are getting disappointed and angry. And will get bored. PvP, WvW and PvE are lacking freshness and quality despite of everything.
See what happened with team responsible for Diablo 3.
I’d be pretty ok with 2-week weak content like now but from time to time I’d expect something better. Just to, you know, know that my needs for good content are also respected.
After reading all this I think that my younger sister could provide better story sitting on a toilet on monday morning still without coffee. God, month after month there’s not enough story for one full sentence.
This content I’d describe as: “Scarlet (who?) invade.”
Former ones: “Molten Alliance destroys signposts, heroes repair.”
“People on new island, where dangerous creatures attack (surprise!).”
“Balloons for unimportant people.”
…
When they first started doing these invasions the first thing that came to mind was Rift.
That was my first thought. But here they are on a different level of class – worse!. My brother showed me Rifts and they were spectacular, not a zergfest. They are varied, monsters are interesting, they just have something in them that give you goose bumps.
Edit: In Rift I feeled tension, I knew that powerful enemy was attacking, you had to be careful. Here we have bunch of colorful toons screaming “YAAAHHOOOOOO!” and just farming loot.
(edited by Gizmo.8623)
Presumably Scarlet is behind the whole thing. She was the one who got the dredge and flame legion to work together…I’m guessing so she could access the weapon they were designing. She’s behind the steam mechs that have been around since launch. No one knew where they came from. And she’s behind the aetherblades…possibly modifying them and supplying them weapons to follow her.
As far as I know the steam mechs are not her creation. There’s spoiler here so I will not talk about it (see Asuran story with infinity ball).
Dredge have very primitive weapons, Flame Legion don’t use machinery at all. She’s supposedly to be a genius. She should have no need for any of their ‘technology’. They did nothing for her and still doing nothing. They could attack cities from underground, pirates from the sky, yet they just spawn in random locations outside any important place.
Why? Why does any evil character in a game do what they do? She’s clearly nuts. She wanted a seat on the Captain’s Council under her control, and when that failed, she turned her attention to the Queen’s celebration in Kryta, most likely because she saw an opportunity in taking over and controlling the clockwork knights.
The invasion is payback for her plans being thwarted.
It’s not great literature, but there’s definitely a story there.
Where is written anything you said here (apart from her being nuts. IMO she’s not crazy, she is just stupid as one can be)? Who said that? Please provide links or tell me in game where can I found these informations.
Hey, can anyone explain why do we have invasion now, why earlier Molten Alliance attacked (what they attacked, why, who, how) and why did Flame Legion and Dredge made an alliance? Why Flame Legion assaulted Norn along with Dredge while they should not have any quarrel with them. Black Citadel wasn’t threatened at all.
Now, is Tyria really in danger? Masses of pirates are teleported in wilderness. Why?
No city is sieged, nothing really is happening. Thousads of enemies are dying without sense, imo. When too many machines get destroyed, pirates are summoned, when they get their kitten whooped, Molten alliance is called. And they just come separately to die without a word.
What’s the point? Does it really have any? Is it to spread chaos? Well, what I see now is that it just gives bored heroes something to do.
There’s no indication that there is bigger purpose – as to why Scarlet showed at all. She is a Sylvari, why not threaten The Groove then?
Scarlet is laughing all the time while her allies are dying by the thousands and she is screaming “Die die die die die die” while not a single soul was killed during the attack. Even Faren was kidnapped, not killed. Is it some kind of a show? For Anet it’s showbusiness but for us it is what?
I’d really like to set my mind appropriately to this. I just don’t know what and why is goin on.
IMO sadly there’s very little visible things that going on in PvP.
Maps are added, balance is adjusted. Nothing more really.
Apart what I think about Living Story, they really put many different things to keep people occupied. They are experimenting a lot.
I my mind MMOs always associated with players competing againts each other.
Skillful capturing points is too little to fill this statement. There are many things that players should compete for – how good they are at fighting each other separately and in varied groups, how good they are at fulfilling different objectives – defending, attacking, holding, maybe escorting, helping, gathering, avoiding, being quick, being patient, following orders…
PvP simply don’t deliver varied content. Players may come here and experience it but apart from small icon and one portal in Lion’s Arch there’s no indication that the whole PvP ‘world’ exists.
Guild Halls could help a lot – almost everyone is in guild, there discussion about PvP would be unavoidable, everyone will hear about it, give them portal there, sparring arenas. Give them more variety. Invite people to PvP.
IMO greater variety of types of gameplay would help balancing because there would be a lot more different situations which could show which class and build excel at some things and are poor at others. Isn’t it now that balancing is for fighting where Conquer type requires smart movement?
I guess it really comes down to whether you want to make a great game, or a game that makes money. Now it’s looking less and less like the former, can’t say about the later.
A game that is exactly what the majority of players asked for, which is also the path to a game that makes money (for now, at least). A pity that means making a game for farmers, exploiters, addicts and grinders, but those are most of the players ArenaNet got. It makes sense for them to focus on adding farming content instead of quality content, since it appears more players want to farm than to have fun.
They must add quality content for smaller groups, content that is challenging and demanding. But something that requires communication, socialising, not this faceless zerg who only respond to – “[Waypoint] all get there!”.
It was supposed to bring players together but now this is like saying that you get to know people at sales in supermarket because it brings people together. It’s ridiculous and simply offending. I’ve invested 1000 hours in this game, many people a lot more and what we got after this whole year is a zergest without sense! What can I do with tons of useless loot? What’s worse – what can I do with all these exotics?
Devs are people with passion – I will not deny it. So to those people who gave their best I turn asking – is it what you wished your game to become?
Deep down I hope that you’re answering it silently “No! But what can we do when our players demand shallow content?”.
It’s your product and people will recognise quality and will appreciate it. Others will have their period of adjustment, some will leave with hatred. But just don’t answer with months of work to those who say that this game is great now. It isn’t! It was, but now it’s not.
Just… do what you WANT to do, not what this ruck is asking. Democracy is not the best method of ruling!
I just hope that it will be biggeer than Queen’s Speech (or rather Queen’s One Sentence).
But not bigger in scale but in quality.
We really need info quick;y to give feedback, to preach, to predict, to warn.
When exactly should we expect to hear something at Pax from Arenanet? Will I be able to watch it for free on the fly?
Along with new skills we urgently need two things:
good quality content to acquire them
good quality content to use them
This Guild Wars 2: Heart of the Swarm won’t even let you experiment with them as it is now.
They didn’t slow down, they even quickened the release of content.
I get a feeling like they don’t know what they should do. It’s like going to extremes of the things that players asked for without a plan – let’s go for it! Let’s see what happens.
It’s creating complex problems because there are still existing the old ones – like killing mobs in low level areas with fully equipped 80.
Besides thanks to mixing new events and old ones we get this situations like Molten Alliance is invading but still Dredge in Dredgehaunt Cliffs ignore this massive movement and do what they always do – shot few mortars on settlement or just wander.
The game is losing it’s class. It’s getting the mix of everything, it’l losing it’s wonderful taste. It’s becoming a quick implementation of things some people yelled for. It’s not for improving game. It’s for quickly filling the needs that players get from the beginning.
What was wrong was to concentrating on festivals, on events that will return once a year. This game needed and still need a lot of work on every aspect.
Was it just to entertain from the beginning? It’s this stupid boom on holidays, other MMOs also gave content based on it.
I know that it was a tradition but strenghtening the core systems IMO should have been priority number one! Not experimenting with new things that came bugged and temporary for a whole year. We get simple entertainment in a superb game that lost it’s magic.
It’s like this game was getting content that wasn’t supposed to last because people will get tired of it. You know – placing meatloaf on different plates won’t make it taste different. We still are getting the same old thing – activities for a big group to do and extreme rewards for them. But this time this big group may fail and receive a little less shinies. Maybe in few months, maybe in a year or two, this content will be good, activity will need for zerg to spread, dangers will require for groups to organise, protect themselves, choose appropriate targets if they want to win or just survive. Now – you die, quickly respawn and joy the ‘fun’ again.
I want for things that I may do with different characters to have different experiences. Apart from Fractals there is nothing of that kind that was added to the game. I always choose necro because he is best at tagging big groups of mobs and I’ve get him all bag slots in inventory. With engineer I play SPvP, with fresh lvl 35 ele I play WvW.
I’ve got zero feeling of something bigger that is coming. There’s no surprise, no feeling of dread of fighting for life. It’s fighting for loot, nothing more. Why these massive armies spawn on entire continent and not in a single capital? They want to conquer or just stretch their legs?
As I’ve said, it’s shallow content, it’s wasted year on getting temporary stuff and leaving key problems behind – like simple targetting. It’s very hard to select a champion in this massive groups of mobs.
Ok, people are saying that it’s step in a right direction, but still need work or that it’s GW2 at it’s finest.
Let me just say that at the very beginnig there was no global events and people adored the game because it was their characters that mattered (well, not for Trahearne for sure :P ). Dungeons and fractals are for parties of 5. You tried new builds, experimented, enjoyed playing your toon.
Step in a right direction was Helloween because even the labyrinth map with zerg in it allowed single character to survive and fight monsters alone.
I actually wanted to join a bigger group because it gave an opportunity to face greater dangers with many players.
That was deformed to an abberation we have now.
We have massive battles, single person don’t count at all, you just wanna tag enough monsters for a loot. If you’re not lucky, you gen stunlocked and die in 2 seconds, no skill will help you survive. Loot is flowing like a tsunami, in these 45 minutes I must constantly salvage hundreds of items. How long before people will forget about what this game was one year ago – pristine and beautiful.
I was so excited when an exotic dropped, I was feeling joy of finding it, I was pleased because I was rewarded for my efforts. I earned it.
This loot we have now is shameful. Exotics were deprived of their status of being hard to find.
There’s no sense in it fighting for certain item, because of RNG. It’s better to buy it on TP, not counting that it will drop alongside with many others. The game now is about joining faceless zerg, following blue symbol on map hoping to be in favor of RNG.
This is to what was this game reduced. Because nothing else matters now. What other activity can reward you more than getting hundreds of items, many rare, dozens of exotic boxes full of materials, gold and chance for rarer equipment, a lot of experience, skill scrolls and neverending fighting?
Yay, rejoice, because you revisit old maps where almost no one was playing because there was no sense to. You go there and for what? For this blissful activity.
There are events going on these maps, champs and vets roaming. Everyone is passing them by hasting for another red circle because the reward there even after failing is bigger than rewards for succesful completing all the the events on map combined.
That didn’t help to bring life to maps. They died and you just put new things on their carcasses.
I hope that this may lead to constructive discussion. I’m open to hearing how experience may be improved. What should be added IMO?
Things that will again let your character matter, your build matter, your effort matter, not time because what you get depends now how long will you pew pew on mobs from the distance.
But the thing that was biggest let down for me is level of the history behind all this. It’s childish. It’s flat, shallow, it’s predictable.
We have chaos now but in bad meaning of it. Chaos for people to enjoy simplest of things that you can think of. Pressing buttons without thinking.
What’s the difference between us and Scarlet again?
Exactly! Tell me how many people Pirates killed so far?
Now, how many Pirates have we killed? We are heroes?
We are farmers!
Invasions in 4 letters.
Zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerg.
(In a bad way)
:D:D
Obviously you didn’t read the edit of my earlier post.
“After reading what I’ve said I disagree with it as well … Pillory on me!” (this is from you, in case you forgot)
Next time think for more than 10 seconds before opening a thread, this way you will avoid confusing people.
I’m done with your arrogant and condescending tone, good bye sir.
Fair enough.
You know, with posts like that discussion can easily derail as it did.
I’ve said that toon armed with wooden weapons should not be able to defeat more powerful-looking character which wasn’t too toughtful because of what this game is.
It’s definitely too late for it because anyone can look like a half-god now.
Then I’ve said that I’d like for looks to reflect abilities of the player. It’s all that I’d like to correct.
This topic supposed to be entirely on different subject but now I must over and over repeat myself on different subject. Of course that I sound arrogant because I was not convinced to follow what you said.
My apologies for anyone who expected discussion about what’s the name of this topic.
Please edit the OP if you realize that it doesn’t match what you were trying to say.
Obviously you didn’t read more that op and last post. It’s tiring if I get notification of new post in discussion and too often is someone who just NEED to spit words just for the sake of spitting. Be constructive or at least try. When you read the rest you will realise that there is no need for me to edit a single word (maybe just some misspellings).
You probably want to play other games, not turn GW2 into those other games. Just a thought, since you’re absolutely wrong.
Others have said it already and I agreed. Please, read the rest of the discussion before you repeat something.
I don’t want to create another character just for the sake of having something new to do. DRESSING characters is what I DON’T WANT to do – it’s not a kittening barbie game.
I guess you bought the wrong game.
I’m pretty sure I knew exactly what game I was buying. But that was one year ago.
Now it’s getting disturbing. You bought the sequel to a game that was all about collecting skins.
Please stop. If you wanna troll then go to Kessex Hills and give experience to some hero after being slain.
So to summarize this thread, everything that is against your first post is a troll. Why do you even bother to post it here? Do you need some kind of validation about how YOU feel about the game?
Do you even want to discuss or just want to gather some people who agree with you?
Man, chill, there’s no secret agenda on my side.
Now look on your last 2 posts. There is no room for discussion. You repeated you sentence and gave no explanation why you think that GW1 was only about getting skins.
imo:
IT’ SHOULD NOT BE ABOUT HAVING SKINS BUT DOING ALL THE THINGS THAT IN RESULT WILL GIVE THEM TO YOU. This is what the game is lacking. GW1 as I heard (never played it) was packed with content to do to get new skins. Today we have farming/grinding and RNG. Nothing more.
I don’t want to create another character just for the sake of having something new to do. DRESSING characters is what I DON’T WANT to do – it’s not a kittening barbie game.
I guess you bought the wrong game.

Didn’t read anything but your two first post suggesting gear progression, legendaries being stronger then regular weapons and WvW masteries that replace your (poor?) PvP skills. I know you didn’t say those things directly, but you heavily imply them or I suck at reading (likely).
No.
Please, read the rest of posts here because they may explain few things to you.
But if you wanna stop reading after two posts… it’s insulting because there’s discussion going and you either participate or don’t write something after initial read of the very beginning.
It hasn’t evolved in the direction the majority of players like? What majority? Where do you get your information? Have you polled all the players?
Comments like this are much weaker, because you can’t substantiate your point. It’s true you might be right, but you can’t know, and saying you do brings the entire post into question.
Ok – majority of ppl who answered in latest big topics related to the issue
No, I don’t want more of this mindless just play the game X hours farming and you get better stats so you can win fights.
I don’t know why did you said what I underlined. No one here is asking for this.
If you want to win fights and progress you should be improving your skill with your class not it’s stats.
But we don’t have the place that will need us to improve! Hitting punching bag 15 hours a day won’t make you boxing champion.
I’ve played WoW a bit (maybe a year) and it always felt that I’m there post factum to any relevant and important events and I’m just cleaning the mess.
It’s true that in GW2 we have priviledge to participate in actual events but for me it’s a way too little to enjoy this title how I thought I will be enjoying it after a year.
Are having fan playing?
My guess it thet they will boast how their world is unique thanks to LS.
I’ve send this message after few hours farming. I’m now happy but it’s not that I don’t understand why there have to be activities like this.
What I mean that after whole year the game didn’t get something else. Something else from repetition and shallow tasks. Everything that was good was temporary and will be back in a year. Another year like this? Please no.
Not trying to be a fanboy or anything. just getting ready for the “the new LS update sucks! GW2 is dead!!” posts surly to come later today, because face it, no matter how awesome the new update is, there will always be whiners.
I don’t even know why I’m answering in another topic – it must be that I really hate the term “whiner”.
Look, I’ve played this game for a year, have 1k hours in it (and it isn’t much). I’ve played and liked every aspect of this game. The main problem is that after this one year, almost kittening 365 days the game haven’t evolved or at least in a direction that would be appreciated by majority of players and this is alarming (are vets from GW1 happy with GW2? – it’s like Diablo 3 again).
If you are ok with reality then cool! I won’t try to convince you.
But for me it’s not cool. Many important aspects, many bugs haven’t been touched and it seems that they won’t be in a long way because we are being fed with LS that brought nothing good to game in general.
I consider this post as objective.
Tell me how we not have grinding now, hmm? Hmmmm?
Dailies, farming on a massive scale, including killing few champions over and over again, every new achievement set needs you to do the same thing but in different place.
Now, if it isn’t grinding but glorious way to brind life to zones then please tell me about it, maybe I’ll change my attitude.
When I’ve wrote “using your weapon a lot” you interpreted it as grinding – an activity that is forbidden in this game. kitten, so having entire world minimised to few paths leading from one champ to another and a little arena where champs spawn in pairs every few moments is ok but unlocking new ways to fight by playing the game almost in any way you want is bad? Because what? Will require effort?
Now, pls open your eyes if you don’t want to give Devs feedback that is hurting this game right now and in the past and, I predict, in the future.
A personal letdown for me was how quickly new weapon skills were gained. When I watched beta movies and I saw screen with locked weapon abilities I was excited because I though that this will take time and will mean using your weapon a lot.
Now you can unlock all skills in what, half a hour, faster?
I want requirements other than kills for new skills. It must show dedication when you are using new skill.
They would also mean that player is specialising with his class, so subclasses are something I would vote to – even if to change the name of class because they are so generic it hurts.
Please, please no more “progression.” Every time we get progression I have to spend more time doing stuff I don’t enjoy.
It’s just not something that can ever be made interesting, and frankly, people who want it are never satisfied. If ANet adds 10 more levels, you’ll get the 10 levels and ask for 10 more.
I’m equally sure that if they give you new gear, you’ll get it and ask for more.
As you mentioned, there are WvW levels that allow you to carry more siege, take less damage, do more damage, etc. There are fractals where you can level until you can’t hack it. There’s PvP where you can level up to a bear or chihuahua or whatever the top level is.
Alternatively, you can hone your skills yourself and try to die less, speed run dungeons, craft a legendary, whatever. Set a goal and obtain it.
That’s precisely why I’m asking for something NEW.
You see for yourself – you are tired with the things we are getting now. It’s always the same moronic stuff which just takes away your time and gives nothing in reward. Liandri is a step in a right direction. And so was Halloween jumping puzzle.
Now, that’s a picce of content that tries to bite your kitten of (or just make you crazy) is what I think the game needs in big quantities (and big qualities). Farmers have their ‘fun’, leave them to themselves.
Do you know the game Dark Souls? Game that is so hard that you feel like a superman when you overcome simple mobs along the way to boss encounter which is so even harder that you tremble just for thinking of it. And people, a lot of people are enjoying it. There you build you character and your ability to overcome a challenge. There’s no simple math – ooo, I have more dmg and armor than you so you die (in terms of fighting a mob, not other player). Often enemies are so tough that if you kitten up even a little bit, you die instantly (and you know that when you die there, you die like a b***ch). There are no red circles. There are no flashing thingies near axes that tell you “You watch now! Iiiiiiii swiiiiiiiiiiing!”
I don’t wanna always come to tough opponents. I want tough opponents to come to me! They are invading so it seems, why they are always near an end of a dungeon?
Make the world alive by giving us things to live for.
I highly disagree with this post. Any player of any skill should be able to get max stat gear. If you are getting beaten by someone who has wooden weapons , then maybe you didn’t really deserve those shinies.
If you want your gear to pwn noobs instead of your actual skill then this game is definitely not for you.
PvP is best when everyone is put on even ground as far as stats. The choices players make on the stat combinations is entirely up to them.
GW1 had the best gear system IMO and that formula should never be trashed just so someone can be so strong that only the “Sword of a Thousand Truths” can defeat him.
After reading what I’ve said I disagree with it as well … Pillory on me!
What I’ve tried to say is that how powerful you character look should be a mirror to your ability. There really should be items available for those who managed to overcome challenges on their own (or really well organised party – not zerg!). No minis or titles (titles are nice but it’s definitely too little but for now we don’t have these kind of challenges to reward anyone properly).
I really want to start seeing players with exceptional gear not because they were lucky or payed gem price for things but for their ability. Someone that will make me awe in wish to be like him (so pursue this kind of skill).
That’s why when I see a person with a legendary weapon I know that he may be as green as I was 1000 ago in game hours because not even one of the requirements needed for a legendary is about knowing your character and playing it properly.
Because playing long doesn’t mean – playing better.
If you’re looking for something completely different then maybe you should elaborate on it. Just note that ArenaNet will not give stat advantages for people that complete tougher content. Everyone will be on a level playing field.
As I’ve said – I’m looking for something that can give me feeling of advancing with my character. Maybe some new system for every class that gives new possibilities after lvl 80 and is achieved very slow – modificators to weapon skills and utilities, maybe weapons should get experience and be transformed depending on some factors.
A person who played for 10k hours should not fart-kill anyone who played a fraction of this – new skills or modyficators don’t mean – better or giving more dmg. It’s saying that if you wanna have unique build, go for it and be prepared for long and hard road but in effect you may play differently (quick example – a way to give necro Aegis or whatever).
I hate farming and RNG that’s essential in it. I wanna know that to achieve something I need to gather 100 something which is sure to drop x3 if I defeat certain in boss (with option for fight being extra tough), 2x if I defeat other boss with different playstyle, 1x for doing certain jumping puzzles. No daily kitten. If you can put a lot of effort one day and have no time the other day, you should certainly have the option to keep on going (maybe gaining a little less with every try)!
All in all – thing to thrive for are not minis and skins that can be worse than ones that are obtainable a lot easier or just don’t match at all to a character.
I don’t have anything specific in mind, I just wanna know if this “system” will be different than what we have been given till now.

Even dressing could make sense but still hero with full plate of burning kittening raging hellfire of seventh Tiamath and two handed MURDEROUS DEATH SPITTING RAVAGER OF SOULS (of apocalypse) can be beaten by a toon with a wooden sword and shield.
There should be power connected to items, new abilities, which will increase builds and diversity and should make players sweat a lot to get them – so hard or insane mod in dungeons for a chance of getting weapon with unique something in it and account bound so you will instantly be known for posessing skill and talent. No kittening mini.
Everytime I see a person with mini I’m feeling like he is walking it so it won’t pee in his home instance, not competing with heroes of Tyria.
I wonder when will we get a chance for our 80 lvl toons to feel like we are progressing again. With all this farming and getting achievements it’s more as I’m preparing for something and it’s getting meaningless because there’s not much in sight of continuation either of personal story or anything else for that matter.
What I expect is another short quest with a bit of achievements to do, which really don’t mean anything.
I want to feel an adventure, wanna look at the horizon and be excited of the road that awaits me. PvP don’t really gives anything, because it’s separate thing and my character is just representation of maxed in everything you choose your skill and ability.
WvW “progression” is not for you but for either server or commander. But if he can take advantage of it (or even know what talents I posses) that is a different story. There’s nothing to feel that my character is more battle-hardened. Despite what you choose in masteries, you can always be grounded by roaming enemy players and no mastery can help you in survival.
PvE which now we can just call PvF – Players vho Farm is completetly sensless activity and I’ve written enough on this in other topics.
So, returning to topic – I’d like to hear an answer, no – “we are working on it” because I know that but rather – if this system (let’s name it that) will be advanced right from the start so I won’t again reach the end in few hours and nothing like today’s WvW achievements – just beat dolyacs till the end of world (and still you won’t make it).
I’d really want to wait longer for something complete, complex, engaging, fun, entertaining and showing the class of the game, not appealing to basic instincts of gathering more than other to be able to survive which is bullkitten and cheap and lowers my opinion of the game in general.
I don’t want to create another character just for the sake of having something new to do. DRESSING characters is what I DON’T WANT to do – it’s not a kittening barbie game.
A bit long post, didn’t expect that.
If it is more quaggan minis I will delete my account, and probably kill a kitten.
If it’s more WvW masteries I’ll burn a kitten shelter or two and then probably delete my account.
Similar to PvP item wardrobe, thing where all skins we have had are stored. This would be in our home instance. From there you can take them how many times you wish and they work as skins.
Edit:
Option to buy extended bank tab on certain materials to be able to store more than 250 of it (this could be in Gemstore). Example – 150 gems for additional 250. How many times per 1 tab? 10.

I really hope that Devs will think through what has been written in this thread.
In opinion of many game took wrong direction and out of the blue!
Betweem bigger updates these 2-week ones should not change how the game is played.
If I assume that Devs knew precisely how will it turn out and gave this patch to just quickly give ppl some cheap entertainment then I am disappointed. Very.
You just have to farm because you know that either situation will be nerfed or will end the best way to not only gain gold now but also A LOT of materials of highest tiers. Guesting IMO affects a lot performance of the host server decreasing quality of play for everyone there.
Please be careful with updates because this game took a hard hit. I don’t know if it can withstand another one.
If it depended on me I’d implement it even after hours just for the sake of thanks I’d receive the next day
This will make sense only with Kate and William’s son BECAUSE WHY NOT!?
