Option for playing without HUD like proposed on the screen – to have minimal information on cooldowns – either small numbers (yellow – skill can be used, red – on cooldown) or lines that the longer skill is on cooldown the shorter it is. Placement – it should allow configuration (colors and position on screen).

Dodges visually depending on class.
Now only thief, if I’m not wrong, have unique style of dodges but I think that every other class should have something to stand out in this matter.

This is a very balanced game and I have experimented on every class, and learned that you can counter different builds by going different traits/gear. I am really enjoying this game, and keep up the good work. Please don’t listen to the whiners, because they don’t realize every class has a counter. They must stick to one build and try nothing new, from what it sounds. Keep on fixing the little things that need to be done. Thanks for all your hard work!

Oh, man you discovered the secret of PvP! Change your class or build depending on who you face! Why no one told me this before?
I’ll tell you about few fights I’ve just had with my engineer (experimental melee/elixir build). Without stunbreaker (I forgot to take one) warrior got medieval on my kitten by stunlocking me and killing with 100b. Lesson learned hard.
I’m still getting to know engineer and PvP in general (I’ve got LvL 18) so I will fare better for sure but even now I know that there are thing that MUST CHANGE!
I’m using pistol/shield and tool kit. With smallest mistake my every skill can fail and do nothing at all – enemy moves a little too much – static shot fails. He has aegis or I’m blind – static shot fails and won’t bounce to other targets. Throw shield have the same problem. Poison shot is weak in general. You may say – well, position yourself better, try a little harder, etc. My complaint is that to do something with this build I must be perfect – perfect positioning, perfect aiming, I must count on luck, because rotation depends on succesful hit or I can do nothing at all, like if Magnet fails, I won’t use Pry Bar. I am lacking skills that give me a bit of ease in case of mistake like Poison Valley – if first show misses, next ones may hit.
I was just fighting with ele more than 3 or 4 minutes, I used Elixir X 3 times and my health was getting lower and lower while ele could heal himself to max in a hearthbeat. I was pressing keys like I was playing on piano, my hands were sweaty. I can bet that player behing ele wasn’t sweating.

One thing I cannot stand in different classes is when one class to achieve an effect have to put a lot more effort while other class presses one button and have a lot more out of it and then just waits for cooldown. I may stack 7 confusion on someone which is nice but it can be cleansed instantly by many means. DoTs put on me I can heal with Elixir C only every 32 seconds. This counter is many levels weaker than fully getting rid of my confusion combo that can happen once every 10 seconds if I manage to land 2 succesful hits (and these are my only hits that put confusion).

I knew that Engi was supposed to be hard to play but hard shouldn’t mean – hybrid of weaker version of other classes. Another thing with Engi is this kittening RNG in effects from skills, especially Elixir X, on which I depend most. 9/10 I wanna turn to Rampaging Brute but instead I turn to Tornado and often I make it harder to kill downed enemy players by knocking them back. This skill gives 2 completely different paths of fight which you cannot predict while elementalists know exactly what they will get from their skills.
In general I don’t feel like I’m in control even when I am facing average player. Too many times I see “obstructed” or “miss” or “blocked” or “interrupted” and every time I know that it’s bad, very bad for me. I’m lacking burst to be very dangerous and 1 on 1 situations are too rare.

Last thing I just despise is downed #2 skill. This stupid skill is very slow and hits first enemy it encounters, so mermer clones are often hit by it and I’m dead half the second later. Almost every other class just uses stability (most kittened-up mechanic in the game in my opinion, it just should go to hell) and I’m done.

I’ve just talked with a moose that wanted to use Arrow Cart in WvW.
We need tonics that allow us to at least interact with stuff!
More – try to imagine an army of mooses against host of dolyacs battling over SM
Using all skills while transformed would also be nice

Ok, this will be a little flaming…

WHY THE F*** I am not getting any boxes from champions!? I’m bursting with my necro (earlier with engineer) with all I’ve got – well, marks, DS, even golem is helping. Thousands of damage for 10-15 seconds and I’ve got nothing. And I’ve seen someone who just arrived to battle, fell immediately and pew pew champion from downstate and he stood up after champ was defeated. WTF.

It’s getting annoying as hell, I’m missing tens of boxes now. Sometimes it’s working ok, I can pew pew boss a little and there it is – loot, but most of the time I’ve got kitten.

Edit: ppl are suggesting that the because of the lag game may not be accepting my hits (but numbers are shown). Being in party was also mentioned but it isn’t the case. I’m alone and sometimes I get the loot but 90% I’m not. Now I was farming for 10 minutes Cursed Shore and I’ve got NOT EVEN ONE BOX. Everything with my internet connection and game is ok.

Yo,

If you could add some small things to the game, what would they be?

Mine:
- Race skins for certain skills – like engineer turrets
- New option for Charr to alter – look of the tail – length, fur density, color, additional ‘something’ like spiky metal ball on the end
- shortcuts for defined chat messages to quickly respond -“ty”, “build pls” and others
- option to choose the voice for your character from a few sets

Some time ago I suggested something I called: Month of the Class.
Each month devs would concentrate on one class (having minor fixes/additions on others only) and would talk a lot with community about bugs, changes they want to see, etc. Implementations would be released now with 2 week sprints. So each month one class would have 2 big updates – what’s not to love?
Having a bit for everyone is like having nothing at all and this way everyone would be sure that their time will come and it will be glorious.

Where are you going to put the slots. The UI is huge as it is. I want the game to be like playing a movie.

If you wanna play the game like a movie then you do not do this by not having one little additional icon…

I hadn’t considered that the slots would show up on the screen. Why do that? Our weapons don’t show up on the screen and we all remember what we equipped.

I think that the whole idea is to have and additional icon visible when a food/mini is equipped to have key shortcut assigned to it to quickly consume it if we want to – just like using weapon skill or utility without the need of opening inventory and double clicking on the item. All of this for much needed convenience

Mini-Pet Slot and Consumables Slots need to be invisible if no items in them.

Add control over what hud features are turned on.

Maybe I’m interpreting what you said incorrectly, but if the slots are invisible when nothing is in them, then how can you put items in them?

Hey,

Recently I’ve discovered this incredible singer: Loreena McKennitt and when I was hearing her (these shivers!) it came to me that with collaboration with this kind of musicians Anet could produce unforgettable moments in game.

Take for instance this song:
Lady of Divinity’s Reach

Please, try to experience this like me: close your eyes and try to remember that there are people who suffer, who struggle with so many dangers but have their loving ruler.

Now imagine that there’s funeral of the Queen and a young bard is singing of her this song with thousands of heroes kneeling, some crying, some swearing that this death will not be in vain but most importantly everyone is remembering how good she was thanks to this song.

Maybe I’m exagerrating it a little but this is how powerful for me this song is.

What I have in mind is that Anet should add cutscenes with music like this (of course with possibility of replaying it).
Music in GW2 is really exceptional, I never turn it off and I’d really like to hear an effect of collaboration with singers.

God, I hope that players will be able to click on npc with icon above his head or read mail they received from developers in game.
And I hope that devs are not refrain from adding new things just because someone would yell – “How I do this new thing! It suxxxxx coz I don’t know how to do thiiiiiiis. I don’t like it! I wanna farm, pew pew for shinies, it’s better!”

There’s too much simplifying in everything nowadays. People don’t want to read, they get icons, don’t wanna play with 2 hands, so devs get over their heads to try to make it possible to use their product with one hand below the desk (figures…).
I, for one, wanna grown up product that sets standards on it’s own, not being ridden of interesting features because mass of users yell that they would have to do more than they would like to.

I suggested a feature that would allow players to be remembered in Tyria as defenders of town by commemorating this on a plate by the town entrance. You would have to talk to NPC to give your permission to this. And you see problem in this.
kitten, even if you won’t learn of this possibility straight away you will read about it from someplace – patch notes. Someone might actually TALK to you about it. Maybe you will see this plate, read it and then ASK other people how to be added to it.
Where’s the problem?! It’s not like giving your credit card number or email password to anyone…

Please don’t concentrate in this discussion on unimportant problems. If you wanna activate your cinematic cam in the middle of the fight… outcome should be obvious.

I wanna talk about things that can TRANSFORM the game into something more appealing and better for players that wanna drown in a fantasy world of Tyria.
I don’t want to discuss if this or that would require to have faster internet connection.

Keep in mind that even in a dragon fight or 40-man raid in other mmo’s don’t require from player to have super fast connection, just stable one (and that’s normal for everybody). The amount of data send and received is very small compared to music you hear on youtube or movies watched there.

IMO any kind of content added would not change the way you experience game now from technical point of view, only make it better (or worse if we again get farm content) – the worst performance activity is already there – big WvW fight.

As I’ve said, every player can do it but INDEPENDENTLY from each other, so if one wants to fight form the start – ok, go there and join the fray! But if someone want to have some overview, he can activate the camera and will see the battle and the first player who is rushing just now.
No one will be blocked or will have to wait for other players.

so if were all supposed to be working on the event together… how is that accomplished if were doing it independently? just doesn’t make sense from a programming/gaming aspect

I don’t understand your concern. You want to watch the battlefield before you join – activate the camera and observe for how long you want and enjoy the show, you wanna rush straight away, ok, no one is stopping you. Event is going as any other event now.

This would be another option for anyone to experience how other players fare and in a new way.

I understand that the waypoint system that is now in game have so much grown into the skin of everyone that almost no one will want any change to it. However my point stands – it’s not helping enjoying the world.
Create fresh character, forget about Pavilon, farming champions and world bosses. Take this character and go on an adventure. Immerse into the world. Fight your way to next waypoint who is your anchor in case you die, not point in a web that you can blink to anytime you want.
Btw. is there anywhere at least explained why I can teleport from any place in the world, even underground to any of the Waypoints? I know that they are made by Asura but why any young Sylvari can disappear from one point to appear in another?

umm… a lot of gamers would disagree with you, and no the asurans DID NOT make the wp’s, they made the asuran gates (notice the word asuran before that)
i have created a character to just explore and i still disagree with you.. GREATLY!!!!
why would i want to stay stay in a the shiverpeaks when ive gotten bored w/ them and i would much rather enjoy the view halfway up in metrica provence’s jump puzzel, or if i wanted to go to a dungeon

could you imagine having to run ALL the way to arah each time you wanted to do the dungeon? or to CoF or HotW, or CoE, or SE?

gotta think about more of the dynamics than just beauty, and if you do, consider all the aspects of beauty, such as simplicity or ease of use.

I agree with you in… hmm, everything.
I don’t even try to think of removing a way for moving quickly to distant maps, no no. I just hate the teleporting on the same map over and over because someone said – hey there’s a champion ready near this WP, later another champion at other WP.
Maybe a little timer would suffice – 5 minutes, maybe 10 to discourage ppl to just blink. Of course this would lead to a lof frustration if someone teleported and missed the boss and he have to teleport to other location but this is what I am talking about – “kitten, I’ve missed Shattered. Nothing to do here.”
I want for players to have something to do even when the main event passed.

I can feel it myself, especially after Claw, Tequatl and Shatterer are defeated – I stand for a few seconds thinking what to do next, where to go. I never think – ok, let’s roam here a bit and see what I can do HERE.

agreed, but not at the expense of increased bandwidth or system resources. remember their are a lot of emotes that not only dont work, but dont have an error message. i would really like to see them release some of the emotes from gw1 (like /flute and /guitar) along w/ some other things

Of course that every thing added to the game may impact the performance but I don’t believe that new events spread over the entire map could significantly lower your pleasure from gaming.
Few more timers and variables responsible for keeping the states of these events shouldn’t be much of a problem, imo.

When we help town, villagers can erect monument for the player who contributed most (and so this player should defend this monument for as long as he can if he want more glory).When we help rebuild bridge, there should be placed a plate with names of all players who gave a helping hand.

EVERY EVENT SHOULD HAVE THIS MECHANIC to give us intro of what’s to come – centaurs attack town – we can launch this cinematic camera to dynamically show us what is going on, that people are dying, screams are heard, monsters ale laughing.
Tyria SHOULD BE FILLED with small events – children are taken by drakes to their lair to feed the young that are hatching and crying mother asks us to help her. This event should not be showed on map for everyone to zerg there and just we’ll get medieval on their… eggs. This should be personal – do we want to help or not?
This would alter the personality statistic of charisma, dignity or ferocity and available dialog options in these little events. If we were neutral, we could choose anything we want – to help, to walk away, to kill everything, to liberate children and demand money for them. When our personality shifted, these options would be more and more limited. Brute would beat the women and take all her money, diplomatic would receive money from nearest town for help, noble would gain more karma.

yes and no. could you imagine if you were doing an even and you had to wait for other players to finish watching some bs cut scene just to get it underway? especially one that you’ve seen a million times

For me teleporting from one WP to another is taking away the best this gave to offer – being in this fantastic and beautiful world. Everyone wants only to be in one place where certaing something is going which is going to give shinies (where champion mob spawn). You pay a little fee and you just travel any distance in a second.

no it doesnt it adds to it, and they CULD NOT keep the name of gw if they did not have this system implemented. besides, why the hell would i want to spend an hr running from one spot to another, with a full inventory for at least half that time, just to reach 1 spot i need for world completion or an achievement. if anything, their is a couple areas they need to add wp’s o just cuz of the sheer annoyance of getting tot hose spots.

on top of that, if i wanted to enjoy the beauty of the game, y do i have to run over to what i want to see, instead of just wp their and actually being able to enjoy it more.

What i would like to see is for them to remove the wall/floor/ mountain bugs and “impassible invisible” walls so that i CAN jump up somewhere and enjoy the beauty of the game even mroe

I’m actually very disappointed that only one point you responded to was that that I don’t enjoy the WP system that is now. It shows that there are people who care about the game and search for new solutions and ways to make the game better and people who only want to be with the crowd and join in their joyful activities of nameless masses.

I’m afraid that maps are a little too small for this kind of addition in game but it can be made. There are a lot of not used places in whole game – caves with only one veteran inside, forests with one event from time to time.
I’ve written in other post that living world should mean that we can take part in it’s life. When we help town, villagers can erect monument for the player who contributed most (and so this player should defend this monument for as long as he can if he want more glory).
When we help rebuild bridge, there should be placed a plate with names of all players who gave a helping hand.

When something like this is happening (bigger event or these smaller, adventure-like) – we can always switch to camera that will fly over the place and show us actual situation – like these eggs, how long till they hatch, children crying, drakes defending them, etc.
I believe that there would be players who would use it to just watch as other players are fighting (as observers in SPvP).

We really need more interaction with the world, we need more showoff for monsters, we need more spontaneous situations. I don’t know how but I’d like to be surrounded by grawl shamans who I cannot kill in 2 seconds with my necro (fix the scalling please!).
We need situations that would require from use a bit of thinking to actually survive, alone, like a hero, not part of big nameless zerg who pew pew everything without effort.
Sometimes I forgot how to spell my character name because it’s never used in any conversation apart from personal story.

Conversations like in personal story are ok but are used universally. They shouldn’t. When the battle is over, two enemies can chat all they want by standing and not even lifting arms but before the battle they should circle one another, deceive, find a better spot for an attack.
This must be showed by dynamic camera. Why not create a mechanic that will award players with movie-cam-scene when they manage very well with such an event. If we don’t allow anyone to be killed, when we kill the last boss, there’s this little scene played like in trailers when the final attack is taking place.
The more mobs don’t mean better. I know that it’s fun to fight large groups of monsters but with what we have now, they just come at us in a blob, one on another and any AOE is better than single-target attack.
There are no situations that require of us any tactic. There’s superb one – keep them away when health is low and pew pew.
I create situations when a lot of effort is needed to survive – I attack bandit camps where monsters have 3 levels more than my characters and I pull different type of mobs – ranged, melee, casters to the fun. And IT IS FUN! But after the fight there’s just a long road to another camp and many single mobs along the way.

I’ve showed here ways that can make GW2 really unique as a MMO. Right now, after a year nothing really changed. Game is appealing to mass of players who’s only carrot are shinies.

Now please watch at least on of the trailers and then go to Pavilon or any other place in the world and join zerg fighting boss there. Which is better? Do tell me.

If we were neutral, we could choose anything we want – to help, to walk away, to kill everything, to liberate children and demand money for them. When our personality shifted, these options would be more and more limited. Brute would beat the women and take all her money, diplomatic would receive money from nearest town for help, noble would gain more karma.

Man, when I’m looking at these profession trailers they seem like from a different game.
Battle is crystal clear there thanks to cinematic camera, every attack seems like is incredible powerful or have it’s very important use that determines if you will survive the battle.
Of course here mobs are portraited as they possess some nice AI (or rather intelligence that matches the monster – they even talk with each other!) and so battle is a lot more tactical.
We never have similar situations – monsters circling us, warrior defending with his shield from drake fire breath – why would he when he can walk behind him and hack hack hack all he wants.

What we have in game: monster is coming at us in straight line, uses skill, continues advancing in straight line, oh he’s damaged, he retreats in straight line for a while and then again he’s charging… yeah, in straight line.
Teach monsters to use their skills (and give them more!) depending on situations. We run, they cripple, we attack hard, they block, we attack from distance, they avoid it, we charge, they cc. It seems like every fight is the same, mobs have the same amount of life (see wolf fighting with a deer or moa, they just bite each other and victor will be who’s one special skill they possess is more meaningful).

Give me the game showed on these trailers and I’ll pay you monthly even when this game still will be f2p.

It’s a fight where you need a bit of luck and a very good setup. For me Liadri reminds of Ozma from FF9.

It would just turn to be a deathmatch.

  1. Deathmatch 5v5 won at flag = you can score 1.

Deathmatch #2 won by other team, they can score one. How do you want to hunt down a flag carrier if he already got the flag? Other teammates can keep you up long enough. You got no mounts to get there from your respawn point. The only reason this isn’t happening that much in spirit watch is because some party members also have to watch for cap points.

Flags would be just a measure for how many deathmatches won. Then why don’t they just make a deathmatch?

I disagree. Burst of 5 ppl on one would mean very quick death of flag carrier. His defenders are to to CC enemies, heal flag carrier, try to kill anyone, while the other team have only one objective – kill flag carrier and get fallen flag. Where is deathmatch here? Every second of mindless fight would bring your flag closer to enemy base. Sure, you can have your deathmatch if you wanna lose.
And while enemy team is defending his flag carrier, your team can take their flag. This transform game into hunt, not deathmatch.

Besides – why not equip map with traps that can instantly kill (or severe wound) flag carrier? Like – jumping platforms that can be destroyed leading someone to death and return flag to base. This way we would have multiple ways for returning taken flag.
More – why not give teams possibility to ‘borrow’ some mobs and unleash them on enemy base or pack of hounds that hunt flag carrier, for example?

I believe that Anet have really powerful arsenal of mechanics that can be added for spicing spvp gameplay. Just… no more capture points on future maps!

Imagine how many achievements can be added with new gametypes.
Quick – for CTF examples:
- capture flag
- kill flag bearer
- return flag
- assist
- capture flag in less than…
- hold flag for X minutes
- kill X enemies while holding flag
- win X/0
- take X (big value here) dmg while holding flag
- win a match in less than X minutes
- win a match where enemy team hasn’t even touched your flag
- heal flag bearer for X health

This better be some amazing speech.

Well yeah obviously Aetherblades are going to attack.. That’s pretty much a given. Pretty predictable.

Yea, millions of players are killing hundreds of them every day (hour/minute?) and they are going to invade…
Even when we say – one server is killing them in thousands every hour then it will show that there are more pirates than people in Divinity’s Reach

To have a truly great CTF experience we need bigger maps with many paths so that zerg would have to split to find flag bearer. Besides a neat and reguired to do jumping obstacle between bases could provide bigger challenge – not only for flag bearer to pass but also for his pursuers to catch on >:)

Man, I dream of many different types of TPvP gameplay with various objectives.
But if I had to choose one I think that CTF would take the lead.

Man, imagine an option to fully customise your armor from variety of elements you would acquire by playing any type of content.

I agree that looks are very limited atm. What bothers me most – medium chest armors and light helmets (especially this, I hate these carnival masks, these french-party nose hiders, those freckel-size things that stick to the face and those kitten -like rubber masks…).

Unfortunately, capture the flag doesn’t really work well for this game type. I’m completely against disabling skills in order to do it.

What we do need is a team death match option.

Nonono, you don’t disable skills. You just make that you drop flag whenever you use any type of teleporting/long-jumping skill. This way you can save your skin/fur/bark when you need.

Skyhammer gave me feeling as if I was playing Quake 3 and it’s most positive feeling.
It’s dynamic, different, it’s great!
In my opinion GW2 PvP should go in that direction and pure CTF (or CTEC – Capture the Exploding Chicken) would provide a LOT of fun. Fresh and dynamic fun, as it should be.

Timers on sigils, runes and traits.
Many many bugs that exist from day one.

As for dueling – this must be one of my most wanted feature. When I wait with someone for boss or just roam randomly and pass by an interesting character I always think: “kitten I’d wish I could challenge him!”
Custom arenas are 180 degree far from spontaneous challenges in open world. If anyone would be worried that you could be spammed with challenges, you can always have a flag – “open/closed for duel”. As for chat… heh… now my chat is spammed with questions about champs and it’s annoying as #$%#$%#$^# so I wouldn’t mind occasional inv for duel.

EDIT:
I would event buy from gem store item that would allow me to duel people.
Maybe, just maybe there could be problem with achievements (you know, when people arrange their duels for the sake of achivs) but hell, fun from dueling would reward even lack of any achivs.

EDIT 2:
IMO more than 1 objective in SPvP is needed (and maps that go along with it). SPvP should (must) be expanded to entertain greater amount of people and give something fresh for those who beat PvP from the beginning.
