Scalling system that is in the game should make all maps viable to play on higher levels. The problem is that there is nothing interesting/rewarding to do on most.
I really hope that all zones would be revamped in some manner – overhaul of events, maybe renown hearts that you are able to do more than once, etc. And some mechanic that will encourage players to visit different maps – like you must do some quest chains on map, defeat few champs, etc. to have a chance to receive one of few exclusive to this map exotics.

2 Options. Choose 1.

What new spells do U want in the big update

in Necromancer

Posted by: Gizmo.8623

Gizmo.8623

I’d like new versions of existing spells that also have new graphics:
Blood fiend:
- minion constantly siphons health from target and giving it to caster. It also heals itself.
- minion heals caster for less and don’t heal on sacrifice but with every attack it puts random condition on target and itself and on sacrifice it transfers these conditions on 2 other enemies near target.
- minion flies to target and attaches itself to it and starts to poison it and siphon health.
- minion fully healths itself and gives considerable amount of life to caster after enemy kill (once every 5 seconds). Sacrifice gives health to nearest allies but not the caster.

And so on.
I’d like for new skills (or new variants) to be acquired through short story missions that are unique to necromancer and through fight with bosses, etc.

All in all I would very much like to see big content update for necros only >:)

- dungeons

Dungeons can be done before lvl 80. Downscaling is a one way to keep them playable but they do not posses any kind of mechanic to provide content for using your lvl 80 full exotic/ascended.

- getting titles

So – get 200 gold or kill Dolyacs for the rest of you life, yes?

- getting good looking skins

RNG! You can kill=farm champs for month and get one ugly skin which you didn’t want and like. That’s not an endgame for Christ sake.

- helping people

Helping? Somebody please help me with a comment on that. Helping as an endgame… woa =_=

- WvWvW

Here I agree.

Endgame should open many new things to do with fully equipped character. Or open new possibilities with existing content for lower levels.

What EXISTING weapon would you like on Necro?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Gizmo.8623

Gizmo.8623

Shield – #4 opens a portal, which absorbs attacks. If 3 attacks are absorbed, demon is summoned for 15 seconds. #5 – Necro transforms his shield into unliving being which floats to the target fearing and tormenting all in it’s path.

Torch – range 900. #1 – green fire damages all in line and poisons everything it touches. #2 – Necromancer turns the fire into black flame which blinds and severly damages allies and foes alike. #3 – Necromancer forcibly pushes his torch into the ground which curses it, every animal and plant dies and enemies are crippled, weakened and poisoned. #4 – Necromancer uses the energy of flame to open a portal from which deadly force pulls enemy and tears it causing bleeding. #5 – Necromancer uses energy of flame to summon long dead ghosts to fear every target in range and damages and cripples them.

I’d like to see not only new weapons for necro but also new ideas for skills to be good looking and climatic – death, ghosts, demons, green fires, black fires, wailing >:)

I don’t have an account there and I don’t intend to. But I know that even using FB is exactly the same as playing the games you mention.
What I have in mind is the new content. Not the game overall.
One year has passed since the premiere and apart Fractals, I don’t play anything NEW. This game ‘gained’ content which I don’t use. Only the same old – leveling character, doing some dungeons and fractals and ultimately joining WvW.

For me facebook games and new content in GW2 are very much alike.

@MikaHR:
With a choice of
1) making well-thought and complicated (or rather – mature, full-blown) systems where supposedly players would have hard time of grasping basics (yeah, sure)
2) making easiest possible systems that instantly reward everyone with gold, materials and exotics so everyone could join without problems
Anet choose the second path.
My greatest WTF about this game is that many people sacrificed about 6 years to create this game*. Wonderful game that lack many important things. One Dev even cried about this fact (*) at Pax. And now they hurt their baby with this pathetic content, offending excuses, slow developement (God, our poor PvP) of most important additions.
We have situation of massive confusion – we CAN make ascended weapons but people think that they MUST do them and rush, spend their gold to buy expensive materials (which prices skyrocketed but no one minds), log daily, craft these 1/24h materials. And what they got in return – one subjectively-ugly weapon which isn’t in any way better than any exotic.
We have paranoia, we have toxic game, we don’t have fun. We have chore that isn’t rewarding. And we are getting new chores every 2 weeks.
THAT’s what is disappointing (for me) and runing (my) play experience.

I spent my money as I said earlier in my post, I was completely unprepared for the theme, meaning I have next to nothing material-wise to work with.

I only remember thinking (at the time) that I wanna hit 450… Lemme hit 450, so I can unlock the T7 so I can at least see what it is I would be dealing with… Well… honey, I got to 457 when all was said and done and when I saw that I can only created one f the new ores ONCE every 24 hours – I was like – Son of a &$%@!!!!!! and walked away from the Weaponsmith, gave my computer the finger and then started dinner that night…

That gave me a good healthy laugh
Indeed, rushing to 450 and then being able to produce whole <+1+> (tadaaam) new material is like hasting, running like crazy to kiss the wall at the full speed. This, again, reinforces my opinion that every piece of content from these 2-week updates is chaotic and is a filler to something more thinked through (sorry for my crippled english).
I too gave a finger but quicker – after I’ve seen Dev presentation of Ascended crafting. I knew that I’ll be kitten ed if I’ll start collecting all these materials with a thought of creating this useless and ugly weapon as quickly as possible. Give me a reason to, I’ll consider.
One thing that also was a slap to my face was that Devs metioned that it should take 2 weeks to create one weapon (waaaaait a minute. 2 weeks? Isn’t it just about when there will be another update?). I’m treated as an idiot. And I don’t appreciate it. Even. One. Bit.

My disappointment comes also from a fact that it seems that for about a year players are being treated as idiots. Horizontal progression – here, grind for xxx hours to get one unnecessary weapon. Or – here, have invasions to feel like you’re participating in something grandiose and important – which, in reality, was just farm without purpose (apart from having a lot of materials and gold which isn’t needed).
Every new dungeon is gone, every piece of story content is gone.
Now, many people will get their ascended weapons, which count as nothing.
Don’t feel bad if you’re behind the crowd.
You won’t get crushed at least when new “cool” things are released
I’m still waiting for real changes to the world that will provide lasting gameplay, other than being wagon of the zerg train going from one champ to another while meeting no challenge at all.
Maybe underneath there are a lot of changes, but what we actually get is a crappy modification, no good change.

If I may ask – why did you spent your gold? Why did you wanted to create ascended weapon? I someday maybe will start creating it. But not before I’ll meet a boss that will require me to wield it.

EDIT:
And I tremble before a situation that we get anoter 2-week life span piece of story that will require us having ascended weapon. This day I will throw GW2 box into trash can (or out of window).

IMO, all these temporary stuff updates (temporary events, quests, farming things, achievements) accustom us, that everything MUST be done within certain time limit. If progress is slow, you ough to be nervous, because deep down you think that it will go away and you will get nothing.
I’m disappointed in the direction this game took. I’m not doing SAB (despite the good idea and quality), I’m not farming, I’m just leveling my new necro and visiting temples from time to time.
Nothing from these patches is of expected quality (Living World changed the world to a much worse place for me).
With all these systems, why kitten nothing remains, even a mention of what happened before. I know that everything is to change and many things are in work but the way it all has been planned is beyond critic for me. Game disappointed, is slow in updates (yes! slow! I don’t count this balloon visiting, invasion farming, few new mats farming as substancial patches).
I’d cry too if I had no serious RL problems to take care of.
So, you cool imo

Guys, really, the title says that “the game is not fun”?
The main activity and activity promoted by Anet is by no means “the game”. There are hundreds other things to do than doing this very importat thing and they are fun. The game loses it’s value due to this not-fun activity but still is fun thanks to quantity of other fun activities. Should I add “to me”? Clear now?

But of course you just want cheapest laugh of person who tries to point important flaws in game. Please do but note that you are just wasting my time and everyone’s who would like to read this thread.

Gizmo.8623

Ah finally, proof that the game we’re all playing is no fun……………………….

Please, point me to where did I say that “the game is no fun”.
If you cannot, then spend a while pondering why did you put this valueless post while I specifically asked not to in my thread.

As to other responses:
Scalling is very messed up. Normal champion mobs should have base health a lot bigger (for easiest change possible) to prevent situations that they are defeated in few seconds.

I was thinking of instance champ fights a long time ago, but it did have it drawbacks, and very serious: when fight start, people are ‘teleported’ to instances and after the fight they are ‘teleported’ back. What if they choose to leave fight – another ‘teleporting’. This would create a lot of loading screens, especially troublesome for people who don’t enjoy ‘screen flickering’ that often.

There is no avoiding the zerg, because: it’s a fastest way to kill champ and get loot, zerg will always be in most lucrative place. If you want to do interesting and rewarding event, there is sure to be big group of players there. If you don’t, well, now we don’t have many other ways to get materials and equipment in open world.

If battles with champ would be scalled dynamically, this could easily be exploited – for instance – zerg waits for a smaller group to damage champ to 15% health, and then everyone joins for a quick kill.

I agree that content for a large group of players is very hard to do. Now, in a whole game, is there even one that is fun for, let’s say, group of 25+ players? I think not, which is really unbelievable for me.
New Tequatl should be good but it’s only one boss out of tens of others.

And there should be a definite way to lower the FX of effects while fighting a champ with large group of players. New option of dynamic detail isn’t having impact at all (for me at least).

Let's Hear Your Guild Hall Ideas!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gizmo.8623

Gizmo.8623

1 .Purpose: What’s the purpose, what makes them enjoyable?
It’s for having entire Guild in one place. Every player would have a place to socialise. To be with his guild.
2. Side affects: How will this impact the community?
People will have a chance to do something while waiting for big event, for example. Or would just have a place to spend some time with their closest players while not being in LA, where game loads slowest and works with lowest FPS.
3. Where, How, What: Where would they be, how would you get there, looks?
Part of guild would be inside, part outside to avoid situation that suddenly there is no one ‘on streets’.
There would be guild activities that would concentrate only on expanding hall. At first it would be a little building, maybe with one floor, where big guild would just swarm over it completely. There wouldn’t be room for everybody.
Guild hall could be expanded just like a character – there will be a tree of developement. Chosen build paths could be changed but it would require time to disassemble already constructed parts and then time and materials to build new ones.
Each could provide some perks.
4. Unlocks: What type of perks would they have, how would you attain them?
Many should consist of new graphical effects on guild members – auras, footsteps, maybe new weapon effects. New skills, new traits, new weapons. That kind of things.
These would be obtainable through guild missions and guild participation in events around the world – dungeons, fractals, evens, fighting world bosses. These activities would have new guild only achievements that would require a lot of coordinated work to achieve.
5. Other: Any special mechanics or ideas?
Many things should be there – arenas for duels and bigger organised fights, bigger arenas to train and develope tactics (maybe with ability to customise battleground, create groups who can be hostile to each other to simulate WvW situations and how group should react).
There should be many items that characters could interact with – stools to sit on, tables to dance on, places to make things, ways to improve Guild Hall with ornaments, well everything you could possibly think of.
There should be cases that show what guild achieved – if guild group achieved something (Guild achievements for World bosses fight would be awesome) – it would be displayed there – like Tequatl Head.

Another patch on, boxes are rewarding, farming continues.
I’ve went to Cursed Shore to do some temple bashing for fun.
Luckly there was an event going, so I’ve joined up.
Fight was like any other – #1 pew, pew and was over in 2 minutes, In meantime we killed some champions (pew pew).
I’ve gained a lot of new T7 materials, some rares, etc. No big deal.
After that I’ve started to wonder what to do next with my engineer. I’ve went to other temples to buy some exotic armor. Then… well, there’s nothing to do.
Oh, a zerg train is going on. I’ll join for a sec. Ok, they are going for giant champ. They just teleported. I’ve teleported too. After few seconds after it loaded, the champ was dead and zerg was going to fish champ. I’ve tagged along with haste on. I’ve managed to get 1 shot. Of course no reward for me. Then they teleported to shark, while I’ve been watching something on map I knew that I don’t have chance to score. Then I knew that zerg will come for wizard. I’ve teleported there. But still I didn’t manage to get reward, just everyone was ahead despite me having haste.

THIS is fun? I’ve just exited the game.
Devs, please. Change just a few numbers on these guys to make them tiny bit longer to kill. From 5 seconds to at least 10, maybe 12.
And make them spawn a bit less frequently.
It kills all the pleasure on being on map. What can I do with lvl 80 if not joining the most lucrative activity? Evens don’t award even a fraction of one champ box.

Why didn’t you improve event rewards? Why your game has become just about farming. Just collecting random materials for no purpose at all? Why drops are random? Why do you fear that everything can divide the community?
That all would want to farm one boss and not the other? That it will be hard to find a group?
Awake from your berserking 2-week content release and do meaningful updates. I know that you are passionate and I bet that there are wonderful things incoming. But why these content patches are so poor in realising the main FOUNDATION of Guild Wars 2 – having fun while playing with others?
You know why I think that? It’s because just about every piece of content is worse playable the more players are participating. If we have zerg, no death is important, no downed player matters. It’s random! If you go down or die, if you get healed of ressurected, if you use some skill or not. It’s ONLY about having enough dmg for loot.
It’s about being ahead of the crowd if you even want to have a CHANCE of getting loot. There’s no communication, no cooperation, no helping, no participating, groups are for being able to reconnect after disconnect.

Please, make a meeting, gather staff, go to Desolation at 8PM. european time and go to Cursed Shore. Join the ‘fun’ and then discuss if you like it. If not, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. If yes, well, my case is closed.

I hope that Tequatl change will be positive, that it will really be fun and that it won’t be long before other bosses and many champions are FIXED like Tequatl.
But now start working on what you have. Things that should be from the start can wait another month or two, those who were waiting for them left till now, so it don’t matter so much. What matters is that existing content is not designed for what’s going on in reality, imo.
There are no 10-15 person groups tactically fighting these simple champ mechanics. There are 40 person trains who don’t even recognise boss attacks. See attached screenshot. This is how champ fights looks like (and it still do not reflect how bad it really is). And they are over in few seconds (I know that this isn’t Cursed Shore but it’s like that everywhere). BTW, it’s hard to find my character even though I know that he is exactly at the center…

If you want to comment this post, don’t troll, don’t spam meaningless messages. Give some feedback. This game deserves more. And should deliver more.
There really must be PTR where every piece of new content or change should be tested by zerg with Anet employees playing, who would instantly receive realistic feedback.
Dozens of posts on forums won’t be better than participating with proper target group.

Please consider all this when you will be implementing new changes.

Pace of new content - TOO FAST

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Gizmo.8623

For me the problem is not the quantity of the content but the simple fact that for most of the achievements there are only 2 weeks. People are rushing, swarming, reading dullfy how to finish as quickly as possible, because they want their achievement points and then they can farm in peace.
If only ALL of the the achievements or most of them could be obtainable any time, all this would feel better overall, imo.
We will get our new content every 2 weeks, why erase everything before this?
It’s one of the Living World flaws.
I am now leveling alt new and I needed to resign for an hour (a big part of free time I have now to play) to participate in invasion. I didn’t get this achievement (13 invasions on different maps) and now I cannot do it anymore.

Btw. the pace is so fast that even the Queen needed to write on blog to ensure that it will be permanent and ppl will read it. /sarcasm

Maybe a little out of topic but shouldn’t there be indication on cooldown of runes and sigils? If something is about to be exectued, we would want it to be used as efficiently as possible.
Second – wouldn’t it be a good idea to actually let us CHOOSE if we wanna use for example: Rune of the Rata Sum.
If the runes proc and the radiation field should appear, we may hold it for more suitable opportunity and release it as we please. Then the cooldown starts.
All this could increase variety in builds because it would make many runes and sigils a lot more useful imo.

What I like about SAB and Taco

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Gizmo.8623

At least from what we’ve heard so far:
You may acquire unique gear by doing these events. In SAB – you need to put a lot of effort for acquiring new tier of colors (or Frog and Wizard weapons – if I understand correctly – these will be different than new colors). If only SAB wouldn’t be temporary again… sigh. Taco – that’s a different story but one hell of a step in a right direction (finally, after a whole year) – we may fight boss for certain items. It’s still RNG but at least one can be sure that he eventually will get his Taco weapon. At last an activity, which you may choose to do if you wanna specific weapon. (*)
If Taco should be considered an endgame raid, there should be many events around the map that require many players to start the fight – like killing Kraal and undead, maybe even disturbing his lair by planting explosives, etc. The fight itself looks very good. I really hope that the team will add more to it. We have new mechanics after 75%, there should also be new after 50% and 25%.

*Today these zerg fests are for mindless fighting without purpose. IF each map had only few specific exotics to acquire, one could choose if he wants to respond to a specific invasion. The danger there is if there will be enough players to complete an event. Like Taco. I hope that Anet will think of something, because there will be situations that there will just not be enough players to complete event, no matter how good they will be playing.

Maybe Anet should researching how the fight can be won with 1-20,21-40,41-60,61-80,81-100, even 101-150 players? Each should be extremely difficult (easiest 81-100) but very doable. The future ahead looks a bit brighter if this kind of revamps different bosses will get (I hope that not only world bosses but also champions). And a bit quicker that one per year.

All in all, from I’ve seen I’m happy about Tequatl fight and possibilities of SAB. Please integrate more of these mechanics into the core of GW2, because this should IMO be the way the game should take.

As I’ve said in another post:
The game tells one thing and shows completely another.
Says: World in peril, Shows: Partying. There’s nothing to support that Tyria is in danger.
Says: Humanity on verge of extinction, Shows: few centaur attacks here and there. Besides humans have exactly the same everything as other races – big capital, smaller towns. And the rest isn’t supposedly on the edge…
Says: invasions, Shows: Mobs teleporting in swamps doing nothing.
Says: Dragons awoke. Shows: Zhaitan. That’s a dragon, not dragons.

Presentation is horrible. We have beautiful festivals full of details, but one important detail is ALWAYS missing – that we are in Tyria on which dragons are real and deadly threat, that humanity is fighting for survival, that other races are enduring dragon corruption.
Instead “baaash the dragon, baash the dragon, bla bla bla bla”. We have Karka, we have pirates (yarr!), we have Flame Legion and Dredge, we have Zephyrites, we have Kiel, we had Evon. We are full of everything but it’s like different road on the crossroad which is distant from the road we were taking.
Why even one trailer didn’t show Scarlet, invasions, dredge, Karka? It’s always been dragons. Dragons with the power of enslaving all. Instead we have miss pseudo-genius aka “diediediediediediediedie”. And pirates (yarr!).

If Anet thinks that the updates we got revitalise the game, they are simply wrong. They add very small things that are just time-takers. I’ve done them only for Achievement Points.
GW2 could really use 10-15 revamps like Tequatl right now. That could change the game. But if we really have to wait another weeks for anything with minimum of substance and impact crafting our Ascended weapons in meantime then I have one question:
If the game took 6-7 years to be in state we have now (so from scrap, through every possible stage of creation), why after one year we haven’t received at least 1/6 of content we have now?
What would that be:
4 new, complete maps, 10-15 new mobs, new class or 2, new race or 2, new personal story missions (I’d say about 10-12 ), one or two new world bosses, new skills, new crafting profession, new music, some WvW content (not these mastery lines, which are fillers imo). PvP could use a lot more resources than this 1/6.
All these holiday events, temporary stuff imo MISSED SO MUCH what the game needed I lack the english words to describe it properly.

Any gamechangers there? I doubt it.

I wonder if anyone could point one game, just one game with the next number in series that was made “different”, not “better” and was liked my majority?
Example of different: X-Com Enemy Unknown (imo this is exception – pretty good game but buggy), Diablo 2->3.
Example of better: Torchlight 1->2, Diablo 1->2.

Any vets of previous game ever loved “different” next installment?

Resident Evil 1-3 compared to Resident Evil 4. 4 was phenomenally different, and was liked by almost everyone. Metroid Prime. Grand Theft Auto 3. I could keep going…

Did any of these games were simplified, deprived of content like GW in comparision to GW2? Like Diablo 3 in comparision to Diablo 2?
I think not. What I’ve tried to show is that only the company that took the succesfull formula further created a good game. They added to it, not substracted.

GTA3 was so much bigger than GTA2 in every term.
Resident Evil 4 took a nice step forward.
These next installments were not inferior in any way. Or rather in any major way. This is why they were well received.

Here we lack so many things that we hoped for. Slowly maybe we will get them. But how long must we wait? Did this passing year was promising in terms of improving the game? Not really. Today, yes. But these are only two drops in a ocean of things to do. Tequatl is cool but he won’t change much. Yes because Ascended gear matter SO MUCH.. sigh

I’d expect for new gear to come with enemies to use it againts.
Every kitten movie has the same formula – we get attacked, we are losing, we are creating weapon to fight back, we fight back, we win.
Here – we are attacked, we win, we create weapons. <head explodes>

Having playerbase growing is a good thing. But does it really speak for the success of the game? Of course that people will get interested in all this hype, fantastic trailers, promises of living world. But after they played a bit will they acknowledge that all this was truth? That this game is a blast? I thought that in the beginning. And still I think that beginning of the game is great. But after they maxed the first character what will remain? Maxing another. And another. Now, where’s originality in this?
Everyone can be fooled but should this be how the game is treatening players? Lure them and then let them down? Especially these who came here after many months of playing GW expecting better game?
Why on this world only new clients matter?

Really, how can I recommend anyone the game where in the end you need to construct powerful weapon but there’s nothing that it can be used against?
Or rather – you can craft this weapon and you should if you want anything to do after reaching max level. There’s nothing worse than ending which sucks.

Too late……………………

Guild Wars 2, the game where there are no Guild Wars, and the story doesn’t matter.

Why didn’t Anet implement Guild Wars in Guild Wars 2? That’s just plain stupidity on their part. If the game is called “Guild Wars”, then having guild wars is a valid expectation from a player’s point of view. It shows they have no idea what they’re actually doing.

Because they wanted to do things differently. Why weren’t they based on the core of succesfull GW systems I don’t know. It’s similar to Diablo 3. It’s so different, it’s a completely new game. Diablo? Because there’s few known characters? It’s too little.
So many things were erased, substracted, and very little added. Only pace – the game is quicker.
Also here – to have the game more easy to get into, we received product very different. So different that many players who expected better and more broad, vast version of the first part were just sorely surprised. Many negatively.
But what’s worse it’s like Devs are learning from the point zero. Like they forgot how they managed to create this whole game and now are throwing random things supposedly because of players’ demands.
Now we have videos before every update showing everything to people. Why?! I’d expect some explanations – where are they headed, what have made them to create this. Not – showing how to create Ascended weapons. People would manage that themselves! In Anet’s eyes are we really that uncreative? The system of creating Ascended stuff is similar to old crafting, there’s nothing new! If you wanted to get us into this, why not add some NPCs to the game and have them display few lines of text explaining which is what.
Why do you take game from the game?
With WvW movie – we’ve got presentation of few abilities from less popular masteries.
Because they think that they got too little love. Well, make them more useful if you want players to use them. And have the game show players how useful can it be – create turorial map where every siege weapon is available and every mastery maxed and let people try everything there. When in Borderlands, you’re expected to follow the commander orders, because you are taking place of other players who would like to play WvW seriously.

Please, rethink your approach to this game, because it’s getting more and more ridiculous to a point where normal person will feel offended.

@TheDaiBish:
I’ve really mean it that I don’t know what and how many materials I have. When I open box from a champion I tend to get even 7 of completely random material. After this I’ve lost any interest on keeping the record. In two days I’ve maxed cooking without any guide. I’ve just acquired enough materials by playing. I’ve even destroyed many of them because I haven’t got any space in my bank (maxed storage and my character’s got maxed bags). Today I’ve created a guild and I’m researching Guild Bank. Just for storing useless materials.
In this game all is random, why should I bother with knowing what I have when it can change in a hour by farming champions and getting a lot T6 mats from their boxes. Today I could reach 200 gold. Before this update I had about 20 gold and it was cool. I could afford some items, some I could not.
There isn’t even one item I want with all these materials and gold. No legendary, no exotic, no ascended. Because why should I?
As I’ve said in another post, it’s no barbie game. I don’t want to dress my character. I want to EQUIP my character. Equip him to do battle with difficult enemies.

There is so much I can tell what’s wrong with everything I could spend here several hours but I must go back to writing my thesis.
If what we have got now is the best that tens of developers form Arenanet can come up with, then it’s really no point in playing. But there’s just no other good game out there to hook up and enjoy watching it changing for the better as the time pass.
What I have now is big disappointment. How my time is not respected. I don’t want friggin’ RNG exotics or friggin’ Gold Black Lion Ticket (s)crap thrown on me so I could spend it on one item which don’t change anything. I don’t have space in my bank for all this kitten.
Now we can use all our materials for Ascended piece of #$@!&* which brings nothing new. I don’t even find it useful to sell it for hundreds of gold. Why should I? Is gold necessary for anything?

This game is has just too many things that aren’t ok. What is really good? What is good in it’s form, getting enough amount of care from developers, what is enhanced with time, what is expanded, what is rewarding, what isn’t buggy, what is fun? One thing. One thing that worth recommending…

I’d say that roaming in low-level areas and leveling up fresh toon without all this new content at all.

When I read things like “How can you say that GW2 is doing bad? Population is rising, Anet is doing great!” or “It’s great because you get 1 year of free content” or “You don’t like it, don’t play it, there’s plenty to do” my antennae fall.
The game is collapsing under the pile of toxic content. Toxic is the best description I could come up with. Why toxic? Because it destroys, negates, minimises the meaning of, archaizes every piece of content we enjoyed till the Living World didn’t kick in. PvP updates are non-existent, so do WvW. 2/3 of flagship GW2 gameplay type is rotting. 1/3 is rotten already.
Nothing good came out of these updates. They are leading to sweet (bittersweet) oblivion of uninteresting gameplay.

When I’ve heard – horizontal progression I thought of having multiple ways of testing my max leveled and geared character in many difficult challenges that required solo effort of group cooperation and coordination.
Every thing of this was corrupted by taking course to most uninnovative gameplay I could think of.
Really, Ascended items are there FOR WHAT!? Tell my, should I spend hours and hours of getting one if I’m perfectly fine with exotics and even rares? Is there anyhing that requires it? Any monster? Any door to smash? Any coffer to open? Any player to beat? Anything?
I really feel that I’m treated like an idiot.
Where do you get with all this? You have filled this game with so many weapon skins. For what? So much manpower wasted so we could just turn of World Character Detail in options so Lion’s Arch load in reasonable time of 2 minutes.
Why after one year EVEN ONE THING haven’t been introduced to improve existing gameplay? Even one tiny? Tiniest? Ok, necromancer minions are better at attacking now (but still there are problems with them). But this was squashing bug. So don’t count.
When I enter map I don’t see any changes. Worse – I see battalion of pirates that are spoiling my adventuring and horde of players that are affecting quality of my game.
I’ve never completed Molten Facility (I’ve been disconnected about 10 times and I’ve resigned, later didn’t found time to try again), haven’t had time to try Aetherblade base. Now they’re gone. But I can always escort some npc 30 times to a balloon (which I did, God help me). Was it fun? kitten me if I agree. I did it so I could get 6k Achievement Point chest. It was a sore to do. And some of the towers were buggy…

The game for me is falling to ruin. I’ve created another character (second necro) to just enjoy it. I’m going on fumes here.
I’d really like for someone from Anet just put a message of forum:
“Dear Players. we have read all the complain, praise and feedback posts. We’ve made a list of things to fix. Here it is: [list]. In the next week we will be getting votes on order on which we will be completing this list. We will be opening PTR, so anyone interested in testing created content, please sign [here]. In about 2 months you should start getting invites. Our ideas on how to improve the game are as follow: [list]. We have created different threads on each position of this list to gather feedback on how this should be made. We are listening.”
I’d wet my pants if such post was ever written by Anet staff.

I don’t consider myself a veteran. I only played Original Guild Wars for 2 years.

I’ve use the world “veteran” in a wrong sense.
What I had in mind – people who spent significant amount of time on previous installment of the series and enjoyed it a lot.

@TheDaiBish:
I agree, that they improved on LS content, but not in a satisfactory degree. It must be one of poorest implementation and telling of the story I’ve seen (even taking into consideration Baldur’s Gate steel problems idiocy :P).
I’m very surprised on how inconsistent different teams are at Arenanet. PvP team fear of any larger change in skills because of meta problems, LS teams exaggerates in everything they do: people wanted bigger events – they added biggest possible, people wanted cooperation – they added system that’s allow victory only with biggest groups, people wanted new items, they added boxes that drop items with largest possibility, people wanted better rewards from champions – they added boxes and are now spawning multiple champions everywhere. WvW team on the other hand works consistently on the same thing and because of it, WvW is stagnant.
SAB team explores new frontiers but they don’t need to be careful. They are as separate as can be from other systems.

The game is a mess. On one side we have complete silence, on other – enormous amount of shallow content, on yet another some announcements.
It’s like Anet is concentrating on just adding different things without looking back. Example – balloons. They just popped. Suddenly people are going to them and need escort. Aetherblades – they just popped, Clockwork creations – they just popped, Scarlet – popped, Molten Alliance – popped, Karkas – popped.
Where is the lore in all this?

Rewards:
It’s a great idea to NOT AWARD rewards AT ALL when event fails (in PvP too). Make a system that stores all items that you should get after the victory so you can shuffle through it. Maybe it would let you pick one or two after the failure. This way people would have a motivation for completing events. Do we fear people that would deliberately try to prevent event from completing (by not fighting the last boss for example) – yes, of course. Maybe this system of storing items would have an option to get them in another instance of similar event, so players would not lose them if mentioned situation occured.

This game needs carefully designed content packed with reasonable and rational elements. Lore must be presented in game, not on the website.
Have anyone ever rated a product for a content that was not in it? It’s a mistake (short stories). They are cool but even more shows us what the game is lacking – INTEGRITY!
It’s falling apart. I don’t even know how many (and it’s many) and why materials I have. And gold. Why do I need this for?

Why aren’t there challenges that require preparation? That require effort for getting your gear ready to face certain monsters.
Why can’t we get statistics that only activate if people are in teams, giving synergy. Quick example:
One player have 100 Radiant statistic across all items, second player also have 100, third, fourth and fifth have 70 each. In total it’s 510. After beating each 100 the team have a chance to clear some deadly condition thrown by difficult monsters.
This Radiant statistic could be acquired from doing events in any snowy map there is.
You wanna beat snowy boss and get his skill/item/whatever? Do snowy maps, gain certain statistic to be an asset to the team. You should, of course, be able to solo gain max of this statistic. Upon acquiring another statistic you would be able to switch them on the fly.

Possibilities are endless. But time is running, game is hurting, people are drawn away.

Pretty much what was said above.

I don’t think I would be playing Guild Wars 2 at the moment if it wasn’t for the name ‘’Guild Wars’’.

I wonder if anyone could point one game, just one game with the next number in series that was made “different”, not “better” and was liked my majority?
Example of different: X-Com Enemy Unknown (imo this is exception – pretty good game but buggy), Diablo 2→3.
Example of better: Torchlight 1→2, Diablo 1→2.

Any vets of previous game ever loved “different” next installment?

You know, for me SAB is one of the best piece of content we have got but also it shows exactly what went wrong.
To have super content, it has to be cut off from the rest of content. We have different skills, utilities, monsters, rewards, ways of getting them, different maps. It’s a separate thing and it is why it works so well.
Now the smallest change in the game requires a lot of thinking, consideration and still can fail. Extend some skill to last from 2 up to 3 seconds and with traits, foods and other it can be massively too powerful. Why is there so much risk? Because testing takes too long. Why? Because testers have to consider every scenario and play it through. Why do we still need to have patches another day after change? Because players found ways to use it in yet another way. Solution?
PTR.
Problem:
How can new content be ok, be tested, be playable and avoid to be exploted if there are only two months for everything? How these small teams can check everything?
PTR and content patches made less often could provide a better quality and less situations that we have: “Please be advised that we need to patch the game so tallyho to everyone who are doing dungeons.” Changes: reduced duration for 3 to 2 seconds of one skill. Fixed client crashes.
This also affects the quality of this game. People complained. Give us a chance to provide proper feedback by playing your game before you deliver. Please, talk with community about future changes, CONSULT the changes with top players of every system of this game (PvE, Dungeons/Fractals, PvP, WvW) and have them try these changes. Have them test them HARD.
Slow down! Who ever asked for weak updates every 2 weeks? Who asked for content that negates what we have? Who asked for minimal changes because bigger ones are impossible because of possibility of hurting meta? Who asked for LW which isn’t living at all?
There are many who asked for better game. I’d advise talking with them. And really, they are right in so many ways. I’d be out of place to put a new piece of advice on walls in my room if I’ve printed constructive and good posts placed on the forums lately

  • Various:
Is it only me or is almost every aspect of new content worse than it was? Even the cutscenes are so basic it’s unbelievable. Quests are short, not demanding, not giving any choice, force players to do them as quickly as possible because they will be gone in one or two weeks. I’d gladly do them with new characters I am making now but I cannot…
Events and quest require of us just fighting. What’s the learning curve? One try, imo.

Closing note:
SAB took the RIGHT DIRECTION! At least from what we have read so far.
We may play with party or play solo. We will be able to fight tougher battles for unique equipment. And there will be no RNG. We will be able to choose what we want.
THIS is what it means to being REWARDED. Not being lucky. We will know our progress.
Why other teams try so hard to create content that is hurting the game, the opinions of the game. Yes, people play but without much enthusiasm. It shows. Even without talking to players I can see that they just bash these mobs because Renown Heart requires it.
They just bash with #1, #2, maybe also #3. There’s no sense in using other skills.

THERE ARE SO MANY THING THAT WENT WRONG! Too many! And what’s on the horizon? Are they changes incoming? I don’t think so. Additions, yes. Exactly as it was from the very beginning when the game started to become worse.
And one thing we can be sure of. There are dedicated teams that will deliver new content every two weeks.
Have we heard of other teams? We know that they exist. But shouldn’t LW teams add their experience in developing systems that should REPAIR AND HEAL this game?
And the last thing – fix the friggin’ TARGETING! I am losing all hope for this game if one most important thing is working like kitten .
Start fixing this game from most IMPORTANT AND VITAL aspects!

  • Rewards:
Imo one of the biggest mistakes of this game. No one now is willing to do anything if not properly awarded. Shouldn’t the main purpose of this game is giving people joy of playing their characters? Where is the joy of spamming all the ablilities randomly at big groups of monsters, then pressing F key a lot and opening tens of Boxes hoping to be favored by RNG. And even if you get cool Exotic, where’s fun in it? Can you say – I’ve earned it? No! Just – I was lucky, good for me. It’s as distant from the winning great item by fighting for it as North Pole to South Pole.
The feeling of participating in the world was brought to almost zero. We have story which completely cuts from the world. We have new events that negate old ones.
We have exotics that are fresh and people want them and forgot about existing ones. Why? Because they have them anyway (dungeons being too easy and awarding too many tokens is one of the problem here). If they don’t have old exotics it’s because of good ol’ RNG… sigh.

What went wrong?
You give people best looking items with best stats for just being in the right place in the right moment. It accustomes people for receiving best rewards without putting any effort.
There are topics saying that some events are too hard. As I’ve seen, events that are too hard are just killing dozens of players in half a second without a chance to dodge. That is your desired difficulty level?
There should never be topics saying that solo event is too hard. Even in personal story (exception – if it was not intended – as too many mobs spawn and cc you to death or just give no chance to defeat because of sheer numbers).
Just modify reward system. Make it worthwhile. What’s just another exotic in a sea of of others? It has become obsolete. And not fun.
Customization ended. Development of characters ended. Interesting quests ended. Story ended. Dungeons ended (I have all I wanted). Fractals ended (no point in doing, I’ve beaten every one too many times).
Even classic gathering of materials ended, because from new boxes I can ecquire tens time more materials than from normal gathering.
World bosses ended – they are not interesting and I’ve beaten them too many times. They don’t give anything worthwhile. But the most important thing is that they are boring. It’s no fighting, it’s spamming #1 while standing in one spot.

  • Living World:
First of all, I understand that Developer teams need to get better in this but imo all this was rushed prematurely, game suffered a hard blows through this year. Dull story, presented very poorly, changes to world were minimal and had no impact on gameplay. Maps were not alive again. It was just a mass of players getting from one point to another ignoring any original event that was going there because new ones are just many, many times more rewarding (and this is the promoted way of playing – getting new loot. With repeating over and over the same events with a large group where indentity and personal skill are shadowed by a need for doing most AOE dmg.).

My objection is that there is too much emphasis on this LW thing. What’s it exactly? Any other game gets new things to do with patches.
How is the world living? Please clarify (it’s a serious question).
And additional question – how is this different from other MMOs? We don’t need to be in a party to get loot, that’s imo the only difference.

A lot of topics were created where people presented ideas on how to make GW2 to stand up. And not by going back to what GW was.

What went wrong?
Realisation of a good concept. After a year GW2 gained seasonal events that promote farming as much as possible before the event stops.
Please answer – who adds temporary stuff to a product that has many critical flaws on every front? So much time wasted on showing players what you meant by LW.
Ok, we tried new events, maybe even received new skin. But then we come back to normal content which is lacking of freshness and… yes, being alive. It’s rusted, beaten do death, old, repeating over and over without purpose. Maybe someone will be merciful and do one or two (to level up a new character).
The game clearly want’s to bring lvl 80 players to low level areas. But why do you throw there masses of powerful mobs and make it impossible for fresh characters to make normal events there. Not to mention that due to massive number of effects and players, FPS drop and lag kicks in.
