Did you happen to die in Hills on that map? I always get the bug when I use the minimap after a death in Hills.
Yup.
Ported to spawn in blue borderland, respawned in desert borderland. Now sitting in queue to get back to blue borderland.
This has been happening for several months. You cannot imagine how frustrating this is.
The reason that HoD is so far ahead is that NSP and CD have much lower populations and terrible coverage.
Server balance has to be effectively addressed.
To the OP: I belive the achievment points are meant to show how much you have done in the game as a whole. Sure, they could have added some achievments for the WvW ranks just as there are for PvP ranks, but that’s about it. If you want to farm AP for the rewards you should go do the achievments in their respective game modes (yes, I’m telling you to go PvE) or not get them at all.
If AP are meant to show how much you have done in the game as a whole, surely playing WVW should award AP points on a basis similar to the other game modes. Otherwise AP DON’T reflect what you have done in the game as a whole, only what you have done in PVE and PVP.
What you are suggesting (play more PVE) is simply anathema for many WVW players, especially many of the best ones. Isn’t the motto of GW2 “Play the game the way you want to” ?
Adding achievement points to leveling in WVW simply helps bring this game mode closer to parity to the other modes, like PVP which offers achievements for PVP leveling. Since I don’t have access to the code base I can’t say for sure, but it seems likely it wouldn’t require a big developer commitment to tack on a couple of AP per level.
How is one supposed to get AP Chests in WVW? The achievements are very limited and many have almost farcical requirements to get. And then what do you get at the highest levels? 25 AP? 250,000 kills for 25 AP? That isn’t going to get that Massive Chest in anyone’s lifetime.
Come on man.
Simply this needs to be juiced. By a lot. In particular I think rank points should be accompanied by achievement points. To the tune of 1-2 AP per rank. So those rare Diamond Legends should have 20K AP awarded for their efforts. Silver should get you to something like 2000 AP over the time you are leveling.
I have no problem with WVW dailies. Yes some may be boring or take a while but there is enough variety to give everyone a chance to get a couple easily each day, and if you play a lot of WVW you will easily get completion. If not well there are the PVE vistas and gathering dailies.
It’s in a good place right now don’t fix what isn’t broken.
The problem with that is the Bloodstone Fen items don’t make up a complete set of trinkets. What is the point of having 1/3 of your trinkets stat swappable and the others not?
It simply doesn’t make any sense unless LS3 unlocks a complete set of swappable trinkets.
I don’t understand how a linked server with very high population (Yaks Bend) is placed in Tier 4. It makes for a week of complete face stomps for the other participants in that match who have at best medium population.
Any process that results in a matchup like that is no good.
Are we going to be able to change the stats on these items using a mechanism like what is done in Bloodstone Fen? Otherwise I don’t see that collecting Petrified Logs and Winterberries is all that enticing.
It would be nice if these could support a mechanism like the reset in Bloodstone Fen.
Any idea if this omission will be fixed? Also will the underwater ascended gear in BitterFrost support stat changing??
constant disconnects on multiple wvw maps tonight…
Multiple DC’s on NSP tonight. Literally Unplayable. Literally.
So episode 2 is out and this is still not fixed? :<
Apparently this is still not fixed.
Furthermore it is impossible to change the stats on the Petrified Wood trinkets at all.
Please fix these bugs!
Unfortunately none of that information is specified in the wiki.
Here are my observations today – petrified wood and unbound magic balls refreshed 2 hours after reset. The account max for harvested nodes was hit about 5 hours before reset on a completely different alt than the one that observed no nodes 1 hour after reset.
This behavior seems significantly different from Bloodstone Fen, where I have never observed a failure to reset the unbound magic balls or bloodstone nodes immediately after reset.
(edited by Glass Hand.7306)
It seems the floating unbound magic balls and the petrified wood nodes don’t reappear after reset all the time. What is the schedule supposed to be?
I just had this problem also. It makes it impossible to get the POI so Map Completion – no way.
Ignore the event “Retrieve containment crystals from the skritt and return them to Scholar Dane” I tested and it seems that talking to Skritt Foragers during the event causes the map crash. I sent a report, so hopefully that will help.
I don’t think it’s necessary to talk to the foragers to get a map crash – when I experienced the crashes I had no interaction with them.
I have also had multiple Dredgehaunt Cliffs map crashes today. Hope it gets fixed soon as this is one of my primary gathering areas!
Please implement open all for ToT bags. My guild said they would make me an officer if I got this implemented.
Pretty please. With sugar on top.
Cost half of what trebs do to build and fire 5x faster. Completely changes the balance of the game.
Remove them now please.
A little experimentation is ok. What is not ok is continuing with an experiment that is obviously an unmitigated disaster.
I like the idea of skirmishes quite a bit. However like others note the 3-2-1 distribution needs some tweaking. perhaps 3-2-2 is the best idea I’ve seen proposed.
The other thing I’d really like to see is the API updated so the various statistics sites can update their displays with the new skirmish scoring data. I really miss being able to check on what the status of a match is quickly or see how matches I’m not actually involved in are going.
GREAT! These is a huge amount to like with these releases. New maps to explore, accessories with changeable stats, lots of new achievements and so forth. The game is really progressing well and the regular delivery of this content is really keeping the game fresh for me. That and the revitalization of WVW are giant wins for GW2.
One of the things I really like is the addition of new masteries and mastery points. Frankly I was sort of stuck prior to these releases. I really dislike the adventures and doing them is a chore for me. But making a few more mastery points available was just motivation enough for me to get a few silver level adventures done to finally finish the HOT mastery track. Though I still don’t like adventures and hope to never see another.
How long till HoT goes on sale for like $15?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Glass Hand.7306
The game went on sale for $25 just recently. I gifted it to a couple of friends and now we have a small group doing the harder achieves together once in a while.
If you can’t scrape together $25 how the kitten do you have the money for internet and a computer??
The new repeatable heart quests do not track completion state for the purpose of Map Completion. They reset completion status every day. This has some extremely annoying consequences.
1. You have to complete ALL of the Heart Quests on the same day in order to get map completion.
2. You have to have the REST of all the map completed either on the same day or BEFORE you do the Heart Quests.
If you don’t observe these steps you don’t get Map Completion and you will have to do these quests all over.
Yuck.
Nobody wants to come out and play on it so if you are red it’s going to be a long losing week.
I don’t know who voted for this but it was a really bad idea.
I would suggest an SSD to improve loading times.
I don’t think it’s that difficult to balance WVW. All that is needed is to apply DR to server population. Servers that have above a certain threshold in population get DR on rewards. Slower progression on reward tracks, debuffs on damage, RI, rank progression etc.
I got lucky, the only thing I missed out is my home and guild hall gathering. Everything else I did fell outside the rolled back time period.
TBH I had the opposite reaction to many here. I was extremely impressed by the quality of the response to the bug. Doing a rollback on this scale is NOT a trivial operation and the granularity of the deltas was really excellent.
The real question in my mind is how the bug in the integrity of user records got through testing. That I think is something that ArenaNet has to look at and improve. Changes to code in that area should raise a big red flag and should be reviewed with extreme prejudice.
all new things are usually more expensive than they ‘should’ be. it’s only because there aren’t many available. wait a while, I’m sure, like Inculpatus cedo said, they will lower in price as more come on the market.
The thing is that with a mature game there is a large base of people with a complete or nearly so collection of nodes who will want to add these new nodes. When a new node type that is a very rare drop becomes available it will literally take years for that base demand to become satisfied and for prices to normalize.
Just wait until they aren’t as new as they are now. As more become available, just like with BL Ticket skins, the price will drop, I imagine.
I bet node tickets would be a better answer to the current situation.
I’m glad to see the new nodes for Iron Ore, Flax and Hard Wood. However I am still in shock over the prices that these are showing up for in the TP. A thousand gold for an iron node? You have got to be kidding.
Couldn’t these nodes have been a Gem Store item instead? Or perhaps maybe the drop rate needs to be tweaked to be a bit more generous. Having iron nodes priced more than twice what an ori node goes for is beyond comprehension.
This ‘server FULL’ thing is a serious problem. We have some guild members who are spread across other servers that want to transfer to participate in our WVW activities. Obviously transferring to a linked partner is only a very temporary solution.
Basically this bonehead idea of locking down servers completely is crippling guilds on about half of the servers in GW2. The is horrific because guild membership and strong guilds is the most positive thing this game has going for it, and WVW’s long term health depends on it.
It needs to be fixed RIGHT NOW.
Bonehead idea? What server are you even on?
Here is the problem, people want to stack servers that are already stacked. Sure, servers like Yaks Bend are falling apart. I am sorry that I can’t feel bad for them with how hard they bandwagoned and how much siege they used to get to where they are. Eventually people get tired of it and leave.
Talk about totally missing the point of my post. The issue I have with servers being full has nothing to do with stacking servers or transferring guilds for crying out loud. It’s about transferring individuals to a guild’s home server so they can participate in WVW activities with the rest of the guild.
FULL servers as currently implemented make this pretty much impossible. It’s a bonehead idea because it does not consider any needs of players wanting to transfer for reasons other than things related to server stacking.
There needs to be a way for someone on a server apart from where the majority of their guild is to transfer to where the guild is. Right now this is not possible for half of the servers. Long term the current situation is untenable.
Next time please read the posting and make an effort to understand it before replying.

It’s not about value for money or need. The silver and copper salvage-o-matics combined with the shared inv slots make for a uber-convenient salvage system across every toon on your account.
Sounds good in principle but in practice I find that even with 11 shared slots I could use more.
So what I do is make the Mystic kits and put them on my characters. The shared slot that was used for my Silver Fed is used for one of my HoT keys.
Given the existence of Mystic salvage kits I think there are better uses for the shared slots than the Silver Fed which is of dubious economic value anyway.

I have no particular bias for or against mounts. If the time was put into them the could be a nice feature. However the time to do that has come and gone. With all the existing stuff there really isn’t a place or the development resources available to add mounts.
So I’d much rather Anet put their development efforts into other areas of the game such as improving WVW, adding fractals, etc.
Different people do different things to be honest. Animators aren’t going to have anything to do with WvW revitalization or most of the content in new fractals for instance.
We also know there is a new xpack in early’ish development right now. This is really the best time to be voicing opinions on what kinds of new novelty things we want to see in the next xpack.
Animators are far from the only people needed to add mounts to GW2. The reality is that mounts will need behaviors to go along with their animation, and there will need to be stories to go along with their acquisition. Basically this means every development skill that goes into the building of the game will be needed to implement mounts.
As far as your xpac idea goes, I am extending it further. The time to do this is when GW2 was first written. Instead Anet chose to go with waypoints. Adding mounts now would come at the cost of adding other content that extends the endgame, something I’m much more interested in than mounts.
The time for mounts has come and gone. That horse has ridden off into the sunset and isn’t coming back.
<insert your favorite beating a dead horse gif here>I have no particular bias for or against mounts. If the time was put into them the could be a nice feature. Some areas of the game still have extremely broken lighting. For example the underground areas such as the Quandry Snatch have glowing white areas on the walls with high shaders and a gamma of 1.0.
I’ve also had issues with not being able to finish parts of LS2, particularly the ‘Seeds’ chapter. There are places in the story where you have to interact with Asurans and typing ‘F" or clicking on the interact bubble doesn’t initiate the needed action.
Just very frustrating especially since this stuff gates mastery points and is the only source of sinister trinkets.
I had this occur to me multiple times last night. Any deaths after the start of the Mordy fight left me unable to rez by transporting to a WP.
This includes phase where you run around collecting pods. The result is I lost contribution and time during the pod collection phase.
Given that this particular map is already gosh-darn TOO LONG to complete it now qualifies as being completely unfun to play.
Some say this is inferior to the Halloween wizard hat.
I’m accumulating these things now and given I already have more toons than I can reasonably keep busy they are gathering dust in my inventory.
How about being able to trade them in for something say like Spirit Shards? Or being able to sell them to a vendor for 1g etc?
So I’m going through LS2 again to get the achievements, mastery points and sinister trinkets now and I’ve hit a show stopper.
In the Meet the Asura chapter in Seeds of Truth (which I did once before!) near the beginning there is a point where you sneak up on the Asuran near the entry to the lab to knock him out from behind after disposing with the two Asurans with Faolin.
When you do that you get a UI element that pops open “Knock Out [F]”. I can’t get it to activate! I’ve spammed F and clicked on it many times. Nothing. I’ve tried starting the episode from scratch. Restarting. Rebuilding the data file. Etc.
Any ideas???
95% chance I will pre-order. The 5% is there because you can’t pre-ordain the future.
Actually that is true. Random number generation systems (since none are “truly” random)
Actually there are some truly random systems for generation of random numbers.
They are based on physical phenomenon whose unpredictability can be traced to the laws of quantum mechanics. Radioactive decay is a classic example.
There are sources of radioactive decay based random numbers that can be queried via the internet.

Hardware is also available based on these principles.

As for HOT, there’s evidence that it increased sales tremendously.
In the quarterly earnings report, NCSoft reports that GW2 made about $13.5M more in the HoT debut quarter than in other recent quarters, and “other sales” (i.e., gem store) were reported as stable. At the minimum $50 price, that’s less than 300,000 sales. Fudge for both retail sales (where Anet gets wholesale money only) and for $75 and $100 packages. On the face of it, that’s about a 75% increase in sales. However, those are not great numbers for an XPac. That’s probably why NCSoft is reported to have called HoT sales disappointing.
A 13.5 million dollar increase in income is a LOT more than 300,000 sales. Firstly there is about a 50% margin in the retail chain. Then there is the cost of producing the packages and the marketing cost. Then of course not every sale is racking up $50.
I would bet this is a lot closer to 1 million unit sales.
I tried this with a Metabolic booster yesterday. Same problem.
These items don’t work. They are worthless. They should be taken off the Gem Store until they are fixed.
I am wondering if it is possible for Customer Service to reset some mastery points. Before I realized that Fractals was essentially a self contained mastery track with points awarded for doing fractal accomplishments I spent some points there that I found later that I really need for unlocking the Legendary track.
Don’t care if I need to reaccumulate some experience.
I think there are a lot that feel this way. I do. What bugs me the most is tying mastery points to these mini games I would never choose to play.
THIS. Gating collections and mastery points behind solo only mini games is absolutely punishing. The Adventures have nothing to do with advancing the lore of Guild Wars, They are one of the few pieces of content that is not playable in some kind of group. Completely contrary to the basic structure and playstyle of the game.
What were they thinking???? We bought this expecting a MMO not a collection of lightweight console games.
…create this new character on level 80 with all waypoints unlocked?
No.
I actually like the complexity of Tangled Depths. It’s late game content and it should pose a challenge. It’s not something like a level 30 zone that you run through with your characters while leveling – you are going to be coming back for a long time and a simple design will get boring.
GJ on this one guys.
