WvW is clearly the future and it needs a lot of polishing. Also it could be extended to involve “controlled PvP population” in certain areas.
Also PvP looks like a subsystem within GW2 and could be extended independently.
There’s a LOT of players looking at WvW as the “end game” content that will keep them coming back, IF they manage to revamp the current content with updated maps, rewards, titles, progression, ect. This is what I’m hearing in various areas of the forums. The Hall of Monuments was one of the best additions to GW, and kept players coming back again and again. If they don’t beef up the WvW content as promised this month, I see a lot of people leaving. The culling and lag issues with large groups is killing WvW. Not to get off topic here, but that is THE big issue in WvW.

GW1 had a HUGE dedicated fan and player base. I could think of a LOT worse things than trying to please the GW1 crowd. The GW1 player and fan base increase the odds and possibilities that their audience would be broadened. Word of mouth about a phenomenal game (GW1) does wonders for a company’s reputation. Based on the success of GW1, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with giving players more of what they like. So far, every single person I started playing GW2 with has stopped playing altogether. People in my guild that joined from September to now have all stopped playing. The only ones I see consistently playing are the people in WvW. GW1 had a strong community and I saw those players for YEARS. I continue to play because I’m pretty sure Anet can do better and improve PvP, but many of us see nothing but improvements to PVE related content. If they don’t make some BIG changes in PvP, WvW in particular, I see a mass exodus of players from the game. If they wanted a PVE game, they shouldn’t have hyped the PvP aspect of this game so much. All the time they spent on this game and the big PvP seller was 100 vs 100 (WvW) with just 2 maps, one of them duplicated 3 times for server World Borderlands is like a slap in the face.

I think the devs of GW1 did a pretty darned good job of balancing skills considering the depth of skills that were available to every player. You were only limited by your imagination. I miss the detailed specific builds that were made for a certain purpose for support, healing, aoe, tanking, front line, back line, ect. ect. MM’s were insanely fun to play and a good mesmer was something to be feared if they decided to solo you out as a target. Any class could wield any weapon, adding to the possibilities of builds and weapon swapping. Having builds tied to weapons here make me feel like I’m using cookie cutter builds.

7+ year GW1 Vet here. I’ve played every kind of PvP there was in GW1 and there’s absolutely NOTHING here that even begins to compare with it. Spvp and WvWvW are the only two choices you have. Spvp is more like short, small map versions of AB. Wv3 is like a long drawn out version of Fort Aspenwood. GW1 had so many different arenas and types of pvp so one never really got bored with just two choices. Prophecies alone had SEVEN different types of PvP, and that was after they had removed Hero Battles and Team Arenas. Sorry, but so far GW2 pvp is getting a D- from me, and it’s what I had been looking forward to all this time. I’m not impressed at all.

well i just had the strangest experience when i logged into eb instead of taking me to maguuma start i was on a cliff above speldan for about 1 minute others where logging into same area. we dropped down to take speldan and all npc’s where green so we ran around making friends and spying being completely unattackable and unable to attack. name showed up as unknown to everyone else. probably something with the new guesting feature
I saw something strange the other day myself. I saw an enemy, but it was simply named “Unknown Invader”. They ran away so I was unable to investigate further.

Anyway the best way to get players who exploit to stop is by shameing them. They may be able to talk thier way outta trouble with Anet but others on thier server should not like the sorta attention that comes with having guilds exploit.
Just look at how mucked up WvW is because of huge guilds and band-wagoners being allowed to transfer for free. MAny have pointed out to Anet the problem with that but they are just now doing something about it. Sorry to say but some things really are up to the players to sort out.
Anyway has been great fighting this week and except for this particular guild I think DB and FA sport some great players and no a whole server should not be blamed for the actions of one person, or one guild for that matter. Personal attacks are not allowed nor are reports of hacks/exploits/bugs. They’ve stated this time and time again despite having a code of conduct clearly visible on the main page of the forums. That being said, you’re not allowed to get on the forums and publicly shame someone, period.
Also not allowed to go off topic either which can be very liberally applied to almost any post. I have found if you get reported by another player u almost always get infracted. If no one reports you then no infraction (most cases). So really any player or guild which for some reason doesnt like a post can get u infracted. Imo anyway. Now this is getting off topic
P.S. why do some feel the need to warn others they may get infracted or the thread may get locked. Is it because they are hinting at the mods to do just that? That to me is very lame indeed.
As you can clearly see, all that has happened is a "bandwagoning’ effect where one person sees someone reporting a hack/exploit and then you have many others that decide to join in, completely derailing the thread. The mods can clearly see where the problem started and it will be the very first report of a hack/exploit. I’m trying to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

I’ll take the high road and continue to respect Maguuma as I always have. All servers have their trolls, keyboard commandos, ect.. but I’m not going to let the actions or opinions of just a few people reflect how I feel about an entire server. My posts only reflect what should be obvious to us all, and that is the simple fact we all have to abide by the same forums rules. Keep it clean, keep it friendly, no personal attacks and of course the issue of reporting hacks, ect.

Just FYI, you can get your account banned by repeated infractions as well. If you feel like you absolutely must report them to someone on our server, you’re going to have to be more discreet than this. PMs will do just fine, and keeps you from getting an infraction. It’s apparent you want to slander the entire DB server for the actions of one person/guild that most, if not all of us have never heard of. Lets clean up the thread before Anet has to.

You get depressed when you expect to win and get rolled. Hopefully DB players will go into next week with the mindset that we expect to lose and not getting blown out will be a win for the server.

I’m not going anywhere. I don’t see a real reason for anyone else to either. We’ve dealt with blowouts before. I look at it like it was a test to see our weak points and improve on them.

Fort Aspenwood just gave me bad memories. My guild was Luxon: the side that was biased against in every from of faction vs faction format (only Luxon turtle and not Kurzick Juggernaut would bug in Jade Quarry, capture points were closer to Kurzick spawn in the supposedly neutral AB map). Fort Aspenwood was horribly balanced for a PvP mode. Luxons had to have a perfect team comp to win (they would still have diffuclty) and Kurzicks could win with just about anything (including the nigh unbeatable all healers).
Yeah, no offense, but because of the name, I will never go to Fort Aspenwood.
Haha, I would just run a bonding monk in FA as kurzicks and lol at all the people that couldn’t break through my invulnerable gates. None of the luxons ever learned to bring enchantment rips for some reason.
Ahh another FA player from GW1! Myself, I enjoyed a Restore Rit holding the gates. All you had to do was keep one NPC alive. Also, as a fellow Kurzick from FA, I’m sure you remember the “In My Pants” game played out in chat frequently.

Personally I feel they should make the classes that can stealth the priorities for loading enemies. For example, make thieves the first thing the game loads, that way when they come out of stealth, the culling doesn’t give them an advantage.

Me too! LOL! I’m kind of afraid to uninstall and reinstall even. Don’t want to miss out on game time.
You don’t have to. All you have to do is copy all the game files over to the new drive. It works, helped a friend set up his new account I bought for him by copying all the files off my system through my LAN. It’s faster than installing by disk and then having to let it update online.

You must have the unfortunate luck to be at the wrong place at the wrong time a lot. I have played, like I said, at all hours of the day and night and I roam solo, undetected a LOT. No, I do not play a thief, usually a mesmer or ranger. I’m sure there’s been many a thief that tried to gank me that wished he had decided to pass me up for easier prey, but I enjoy those little skirmishes. Nine times out of ten they run away and a mesmer’s mobility skills are not going to catch a thief if he decides to run. I often run into others that are running solo and party with them on occasion. If we have 3-4 then we can cap supply camps fairly quickly and easily. If you want less zergs then you should probably look at the two lowest tiers, but even then, there’s no guarantee. At any given time, any server can get an influx of guilds and players and start moving up. Maybe overall, wvw is not for you due to the fluctuating possibilities with zergs. You might enjoy Spvp more.

I’ve been on DB since day 1 of purchasing the game. Day 2 I entered wvw since it’s what I had so patiently been waiting to see. I’m one of those kinds of people that doesn’t read directions and says “hey, let’s see what this does” while pushing buttons, ect. I ran with some zergs to see what all the commanders and other players were doing. Learning through observation is what I call it. Then I decided to go out on my own and see how well I could do roaming solo. Turns out my mesmer was quite good at holding it’s own, so I mostly ran solo while we were dropping like a rock down the tiers. Even though we have more people on the server now, I can always find something to do solo or with some random small groups of 3-10 people and there’s always a place for them, regardless of the time. I have played at all hours of the day and night and it never matters, there’s always a place for small groups. If there’s large forces of DB zergs where you’re trying to play, change to a different borderland. I’ve learned to read the maps and without even being on that BL, I can pretty much tell you if there’s a zerg on it or not just by capped forts, keeps, ect. You cannot, however, predict the presence of an enemy zerg or when you’ll run across them if there’s no intel being relayed in map chat. Zergs, I’m afraid, are going to be here for quite some time. I don’t see that changing. There’s simply too much defense available at keeps and forts for small groups to take over quickly and before reinforcements arrive. Like I said, there’s always something for small groups to do here, you just have to know where and when to go. I think you should stay because I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed once you do move then you have no choice after the free transfers are gone, unless you want to pay to move again.

I love DB!! I’ve been here since day 1 and there’s no other place I’d want to call home. I was here for the mass exodus of guilds that left us weak and crippled. My own guild suffered in the process, demanding we move to a "better’ server. Long story short, I gutted 2/3 of the guild, stayed and rebuilt. After all this time, I now know I made the right decision. People on DB are friendly, have a great sense of humor and know how to have fun. We have some great commanders that really know what they’re doing. The thing I like the most is that DB is virtually drama free and prides itself on being a classy server. To all of you that have joined us in the past or decide to in the future, I welcome you and thank you for your contribution in where we are now.

That was a neat trick breaking into SMC without even downing a gate DB..
Because I was inside SM for nearly 2hours yesterday (hiding while I was eating) I can personally say FA is doing a terrible job of sweeping. There was no gate down, you are correct. There was a Mesmer hiding >_>
I can attest to this statement as I was online and present the entire time he was inside. Gotta admire someone that would wait this long just to secure their server’s imminent recap of SM. So let’s nip this in the bud before it gets started. This was all legit and bad mesmer sweeping.

Voice comms help and are often a big advantage, but I’ve seen many outstanding commanders on our server that communicate quite well through team/map chat. Most of them seem to have rockets strapped to their kitten and have insane on-the-fly typing skills to get out coordination on the map. Most of them have a great sense of humor and make WvW fun and enjoyable to play.
edit: Now the auto-censor done went and strapped rockets to kittens :/ There were no kittens harmed in the typing of this post.

Didn’t see Dred’s post on this, but just to make things perfectly clear for you, during the time you’re mentioning, there was only two SOTI members online, me being one of them. I was not in WvW nor was the other member. Now you’re just telling blatant lies, which I highly suspected from the beginning. You might think referring to the Special Olympics is funny and cute but it’s actually quite pathetic to refer to a special needs person this way.

Was jst in Eternal BG goofin off with couple guildees on upgrades. 3 of us and 4 Drag folks showed up…got kitten chased back into their keep 3 times. Then along came support for em, bout 3 more. Yea we wiped, but not before collecting couple more loot bags. So figured heck..lemme get an 80 to go along with their 80s. Show back up..kitten stomped em back to 2 towers. One guardian with a staff made me die laughing. He was fine long as he was in the bag pew pewin, get hit once or run towards him and he hauled butt into a tower lol….80 btw not an upgrade. My teamies head back to YB BL to clean it up..im a bit bored so i jst goof off running around Eternal. Decided wtheck, lemme jump a camp. 5 Drags waited until i attacked a camp solo then engaged…hahahahahah. WOW is bout all i can say to Drag’s night crew. You guys are great at 2 things it looks like: PvDoor and Running Through Doors to hide. Oh..well 3 if you count calling for help to take out 1 ele vs 5 Drags, go zergs!. lol

I had a character that was in the water and never stopped the swimming animation after getting up on dry land. Just sat there, constantly waving her arms around like a mental patient. Also had the same character get stuck holding her arm straight up in the air.

The best way to deal with this is to completely remove armor repair costs, then there’s no reason to log out and no penalty for those with a bad or poorly performing connection such as satellite. Not everyone in the world lives in a big city or in a remote area where cable and telephone companies decide it’s cost effective to provide a high speed service to a few customers. In most cases, ISPs will not provide a high speed service to remote areas (that really aren’t that remote) unless there is a certain guaranteed positive profit to be made or where housing growth is predicted or in the works.
By removing armor repairs, the QQing thieves can get their usual useless rewards and maybe a badge or two for every 5-6 kills. Seriously, the rewards are pretty much useless and badges, at this point, are more or less inventory fillers since there’s no real good gear to spend them on.

My only “issue” is the few EB’ers that like to stay at the glitched spot south of Redlake supply. There is a little jut on a hill that gives you invulnerability buff.
So they run, tag and hit the camp and run back there if anyone comes. Of course they can fight but you can’t.
Now this bug might be on all maps, but no clue as I would never try it. Only see EB folks doing it.
Anet needs to fix that bug/exploit.
Outside of that,been a fun week. I don’t buy into the cry of hackers all the time. People complain the second they lose a fight/keep

So you’re saying it’s ok because everyone else does it? While it seems more chickenkitten than anything else, this is something that is clearly a wrong and immoral thing to take advantage of. On a side note, it appears to be just two guilds using this (what I saw in the image), which in my honest opinion, looks very much like an exploit of a design bug/flaw. Personally, I enjoy my account and playing the game much more than risking losing it by abusing something like this. There’s always going to be players that will look for and use things like this. We’re proud of and grateful for our Asian presence. They help balance out our server quite well. We’re in T4 because we earned it as a whole, meaning both NA and Asian presence. Without one or the other, we would not be where we are. Any comments stating “they carry you” indicates a discredit to the NA people, whether directly implied or not. That’s about the same thing as someone saying the rest of your server carries you as an individual because your skill level isn’t as good as the rest of your server.
In regards to the mesmer issues in SM, I can honestly tell you DB is VERY thorough in mesmer sweeps. We take it very serious. We’ve also never been a server to jump the gun and complain about things such as this, so if we’re telling you there are some mesmer exploiters, you can bet your last dollar it’s true. If I found someone in my guild using exploits, they’re gone, no questions asked. I’d be the first one to report them.

Bunzy is right – night capping is never an issue until it’s being done to you. It’s funny to see YB finally start complaining when they’re the victim after benefiting from it for 2 months.
Now, let’s be honest. Night capping is a huge issue. Or rather, it’s part of the huge issue that is the way the score is tallied. At this point in WvW in all tiers, the only thing that matters is a server’s ability to off-hours cap. They can snag most of the map in an hour and have six to eight hours of 500+ ticks. That’s on the weekend, where there’s a lot more people playing and staying up late. Once you get to the weekdays, it gets even worse. And no servers can close the point gap.
I think it’s safe to say that DB is being carried by their off-hours crew. Their NA coverage is decent, but certainly not up to the standards of this tier. Certainly not up to Ebay or Mag, not even Yaks really.
It’s fine, though. Servers who have a numbers advantage or constant position advantage or cover advantage get fat and lazy.
Unless there’s a functional defect in the game or a bug, there’s no issue here. It’s the game functioning as designed. I’m sure our Oceanic isn’t complaining about “Night Capping”. They’re obviously satisfied with our “hold the line” in NA prime since they have stuck with us even through our fall in past months. We’ve picked up a few extra NA guilds that are proving they’ve got what it takes so you can expect a better overall NA performance this time around. Instead of complaining about another server’s Oceanic presence, try recruiting one for your own to stay competitive. The longer you go without that presence, the better chances are that you’ll be shoved down in ranks in lieu of servers that are gaining that presence. This is what Anet meant about servers balancing themselves out.

What is happening inside BP? So much drama with plots more complex than Taiwanese soap opera. I basically lost track of all e postings about goat n plok n krew… U guys should be script writers.
Maybe the show could be called 2 and a half Goats. LOL! Sorry no offense to the Goat guild. I love goats, I really do. They’re one of my favorite things to watch on Youtube. Like the goat that says “Bob” and the one that says “What”, not to mention the old goat that snorts while flapping his tongue wildly about. When I move out to the country, I’m going to be either a goat or cat herder. Haven’t decided just yet.

I’m calling the guild expectations into question here.
haha, did I upset you or something? I am at a loss for maturity where backstabbing zergers even attempt to call me out after leaving my server. Especially migrating to an opponent that same week. unfortunately the leader of said guild suffers from listening to his little brother and it causes him more problems.
Bros before ummm…. heh… you figure it out. LOL. That’s blood looking out for blood. Either way, your plight is a lost cause at this point. Best you can do is move on and try to rebuild. I booted 2/3 of my guild that wanted to change servers and rebuilt. Airing out all this dirty laundry will only drive people away from your guild. In DB’s defense, it’s not our fault other guilds like what they see in our server.

Started reading page 1 and part of 2 in this thread, then skipped to 5. Same whining and complaining about PVDoor, Oceanic, blah blah blah. If there’s a server balance problem, you’ll just have to ride it out like DB did. It’s a long ride down too. It wasn’t always fun, and sometimes felt like it was downright pointless, but we played anyway. DB has improved in population AND skill and will continue to do so. If you’ve got a problem with our Oceanic crew, I suggest you get to recruiting because complaining on here is absolutely pointless. As players, we on DB chose to be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem. We’ve tested the waters in tier 4 and now we’re ready for it. It’s where we belong at this point. I’m looking forward to getting back up there where our talent was actually appreciated by our competing servers.

hi my guild need to add new members..but we unable to. we at 75 members and unable to invite anymore. we have the money to pay..and active members online.
it says we need more members b4 we can get a license. it then goes on to say i need to start or join a new guild.. well i dont want to. i want to get 100members then pay for the next license. plz can u resolve this bug.. many tnx

I had an issue where we could not invite new members. Through the help of support, we were able to determine that the cause is usually the individual account you’re trying to invite has too many outstanding/unanswered invites and/or they are already in the allowed number of guilds. Ask the person you’re inviting how many unanswered invites they have and how many guilds they are in. I would suggest that when inviting a new member, they should have NO outstanding/unanswered invites.

Ok, so I have some of the common guild issues going on:
Cannot access guild bank, and the guild bank NPC’s tell me I don’t even have one. Yet the rest of the guild is depositing and withdrawing all day, having fun. Mind you I am the guild leader ^__^
It says “Sea of Sorrows” next to the guild name on my guild panel, yet I am no longer there, I have been to Lions Arch and Divinity’s Reach, still says it while I am there.
I partied up with a guildie and we went to the guild bank npc Tricha in Lion’s Arch. He doesn’t show on my map, and vice versa. We are both in front of the same npc, and we can’t see each other ingame. We were both out of map queue as well.
Not sure what is going on, but any help is appreciated. I bought and spent inlfuence on the guild bank after the real one was already established because it was saying it wasn’t ready or available in my guild panel. In essence, I spent 1800 influence that I didn’t need to, because of this bug. Any help is appreciated.

Try promoting a trusted friend or member to guild leader then step down. Log out of the game completely and log back in. Have your friend/member promote you back to leader and that often solves the problem. I’ve seen this one a few times.

I would suspect he just wants Anet to know he’s not a happy customer like many that have left before him. Perhaps they should get off their “high horse” and start listening to players (player base).

Most likely what will happen is they will give the guy a 72 hour suspension and you will not get your gold back. It has been my experience in the past that Anet does little, if anything, to discourage this type of behavior.
We spent a great deal of time and resources to develop a Trading Post and spend it still, ensuring that the system works smoothly. The TP is a very effective means of discouraging scamming. It flat out prevents it! If players choose to go outside the system, please do not point to inadequacy on the part of ArenaNet, for that would be both inaccurate and unfair. Scamming is fully preventable using the robustly developed system offered within the game.
GW1 had a great “person to person” trading system that prevented scamming as long as you paid attention to the items/gold in the trading window. While I like the TP, not everyone does and others would prefer a more personal method of trade. I do agree the TP will eliminate scamming and fraud 100 %, but I’ll stand by my original comment as I have first hand experience with support in such matters in my previous 7+ years of playing GW1.
Now, another issue I’m going to bring up is a question I posted here 2 days ago. This reply I posted to someone else seemed to get your attention so I’m starting to see where priorities lie here. The question I asked 2 days ago was left unanswered and this one caught the red flag. I guess there’s a bit of “cherry picking” going on here. My original question was: This appears to be for account issues older than three days but what about game breaking problems that are older than three days? IE: I can’t invite new players to the guild? Error 3040. Seems this has been around for about 3 months now.

I’ve been trying to light a fire under someone for a week now on this and it’s going absolutely nowhere. I’m further discouraged that it seems to be an issue that’s been around as long as it has and it’s still happening. I know it’s not an account issue but I did try to ask where I could post or what I could do with it.
Ok I see in your updates I’m basically being told the same thing support says. “121211-000604 This is a known, non-account issue; the team is working on it.”
Sorry I’m tired of hearing this for over a week. It’s been a problem since mid-September so obviously nothing is being done. Tomorrow I’m contacting the BBB and looking into other ways to remedy the fact I’m playing a defective game.

On 12/11/2012, I submitted a ticket whose number is [Incident: 121211-000872] for a guy scamming me. He told me that he was going to sell me Dusk for 200g. I have a screenshot of the exact conversion and everything. I sent him 200g and then he logged off without sending me dusk. I don’t care if you ban the guy or not, I just want my gold back so that I can get Dusk. The conversation is as followed:

You guys really should put in some kind of trading system other than the Trading post so that players can negotiate prices with other players or at least CoD mail or something.

Digital Knightz will be holding two Guild Banquets in the Hallowed Halls of Citadel on our Home Borderlands 1.5hrs before the Next Reset for the first and 12hrs later for the second (Timezone Aware). All are welcome to come and enjoy the Festivities, there will be Ale, Food, Fireworks and more. So come to Borlis Pass Borderlands Citadel 1.5 hours before the next Reset (leaves 30mins to discus War Effort!!!)
This is just a small way the DKz can gather you all up and in some way say Thank You all for an great start to the new GW2 and a LOT of FUN has been had by all and in some small way Celebrate the upcoming Festivities.
