Welcome to WvW -Anet style
The game is completely designed around running and re-running Fractals, and the PUGs in there are a total crap-shoot. But this is the game they want everyone to play – dungeon grind. -
the rates are too high. i think the drop rate of rares/exotics is perfectly in line as they are.
5% for exotics from champs? 11.5% for rares? those rates are ridiculously high.
Lol. In reality……….
I posted in the last thread that was closed and i submitted tickets to support when this issue started showing up in mmorpg.com forums
i was told that the devs can find no problem with drops
my only response is to take my credit card off and not log since its more trouble than its worth to play the game
this is not the same game that i bought
really its noti still think this is the best exploring ive ever encountered and check every day this thread like the old one hoping some one will give us an answer
Agree. I am not interested in playing this game anymore. It was a good concept, with failed execution. It is the worse kind of grind – grind with no reward – unless you grind FoTM 20 times per day. They might as well fold up the rest of the game.
“Gems of Kindness” are for sale in the gem shop. Buy one of those and you can give 1-2 gold to other players without getting banned…for 45 minutes.
Logging in is an exploit.
Slight correction, logging in to anything other than the Gem Store is an exploit.
Thou shall not make a profit – that is what the Gem store is for.
Guess we need non-bot farmers after all.
I have experienced the same thing
Anet thinks farming is wrong so they nerf it.
Thus the end game zones have no people since they are doing more profitable things.
There are a ton of signet warriors that run back and forth on penitent path farming the risen. The risen don’t even get near the forts now, the Zerg rushes out to fight over tagging mobs for drops. Meanwhile most of the more involved DE’s go undone. I can’t blame the folks doing this, but it sure makes for a pretty pathetic zone if you want to do other things.
I am pretty much the only one left in my guild that plays. I love alts so experimenting with different classes – till the perceived change in the drop rate made me frustrated. So I question the longevity based on decline in population mostly. I still like parts of the game, but playing less and less.
Expanded bugs? No, they need to master some basics.
ANet has officially stated that Legendary stats will be bumped to Ascended when Ascended weapons are introduced.
The entire purpose of pursuing a Legendary weapon is to obtain something that cannot be obtained through anything else but hard work and due diligence.
Legendary weapons can be purchased off of the TP…Gold can be purchased with gems which can be purchased with real $$$. Legendary weapons are no longer the product of hard work and due diligence, just who has money.
Sure opens up both paths…..diligence and buying it.
Zerg v Zerg not my cup of tea
No incentive
The trinity is a bad mechanic in any game even if the game was designed for it.
You can’t just be tank, healer, or dps. You have to be the best/cookie cutter roll or you have to have some kind of gimmick that warrants you a spot in pve raids. This then starts the homginazation of class as all rolls need to be as good as each other and no one can have something that other classes don’t bring because it keeps people from bring certain classes.
Just thinking about it makes me disgusted and reminds me why I’m here and not playing wow/rift/swtor or some other EQ clone.
110% true, I could not agree more
It’s a well known fact that GW2’s PVE is horrible. Trash mobs have ridiculous health pools, boss strategies consist of nothing more than “kite and dodge” with singular gimmicks if you’re lucky. Event bosses, meant to replace raiding, are mindless zergfests with no strategy involved (Risen High Priests) or giant monsters that sit in one place and roar at you helplessly while you kill them with zero resistance or challenge (the dragon encounters, also Zhaitan). It doesn’t help that the loot from all of this is either non existent or just plain sucks.
There’s a simple reason why this is true and will remain an unbreakable constant for GW2’s lifespan as a game. It’s the much touted “no holy trinity” gameplay. Now I know how the responses to this will go:
But Vasham, the trinity just put all the responsibility on the healer and no one else! DPS could sleepwalk through encounters and tanks just had to not die!
False. To say the trinity was that simplistic shows one’s ignorance of PVE mechanics and overall lack of experience in true endgame content. Tanks, DPS, and Healers all had specific sub-duties in encounters, mechanics to watch for, and skills to master beyond their base role in the raid. I would dare say the trinity required a higher skill ceiling than any role a class can play in GW2.
But the trinity forces people into playstyles they don’t like and extends the time it takes to form a group!
False. While a time existed in previous MMOs where to play a certain class meant you played a certain role in the trinity that time has long passed. MMOs with good class balance (read: anything not by Arenanet) have either been released or changed their classes so the one you play isn’t pigeonholed into a specific role. I never met a tank or healer in WoW, Rift, or other games that played those roles exclusively yet didn’t enjoy it. The lack of those roles have turned many players away from GW2, and I can’t blame them.
But the trinity is an old and tired system! This game’s system is new!
New doesn’t mean good, if anything it’s proven the opposite. The lack of the trinity as a solid foundation for encounter design is why GW2 has had such trouble with it’s PVE content. Arenanet made the mistake of viewing the trinity in such shallow terms during development that they forgot why it’s stood the test of time. Without the trinity to provide that basic framework encounters boil down to a murky cloud of damage dealing and kiting. There’s nothing to support more advanced mechanics than the most basic of gimmicks as GW2’s dungeons and events have proved, and the new Fractals dungeon has reinforced that proof.
Deny it all you want, but PVE players are the backbone of a healthy MMO. With GW2’s sPVP in a rapid decline and the pipe dream of esports becoming more unreachable every day Arenanet will need to appease the PVE playerbase to stay afloat. With such poor encounter design limited by a wide eyed dream of a world with no trinity it’s an avenue they are not prepared to deliver on unless drastic change is made to class balance and the trinity is reinstated.
That, or we can look forward to spamming 2 again to kill the next Elder Dragon.
Wrong. Wrong game (see contents before opening) and wrong answer. I am selling lemonade and I sell lemonade to 2 million happy customers and then you walk up and say “hey, got any grapes?”. I tell you I only sell lemonade and you insist you want grapes so I should re-tool my lemonade stand. You sir, are then pelted with lemons. Fin~
ArenaNet can push the prices up past the point that you can afford them just from farming gold. And the amount of gold you can farm ties in to how much time you spend playing per day. Some play more, some much less.
Also, once you make that first purchase in the cash shop, it becomes easier and easier to do it again, unless you have a lot of patience, or no cash to spare. Don’t expect to be getting anything easily in this game. If they can make you grind for it, they will, to encourage you to take the ‘easy’ option of buying gold.
How about “Im not paying extra money for a game I already paid a one-time payment for just to get an aesthetic weapon that has statistically no advantage over something I can also get for less trouble in-game”?
That’s up to each person. For me, I have little interest in such things. I can easily afford to spend money on in-game cash shops, but I choose not to unless I am buying something that has no effect at all on the game. Skins, emotes, fun items, I am happy with things like this. Buying gold though from the very people who are in control of the market and can manipulate it to suit themselves, well, that is going too far.
This game is pretty much ruined because the cash shop is behind every decision that is being made. The good news is, the game isn’t brilliant, so walking away isn’t that hard. Staying away will be harder though, due to no sub fees
Yup
You are dismissive of other theories based on YOUR experience. If thousands of people are experiencing a problem, it is a real problem. If this person or that person has really good luck, that does not make the thousands go away.
I believe you are wrong, that is to say your theorycraft in my opinion is very very flawed. With all due respect.
They might still be posting on Reddit
NOt fun. Rolled a necro for WVW, and working on a mesmer too. Gave up on ranger
Agreed. I have a couple thousand kills in WvW, and I only have around 350 badges. The poor drop rate conbined with poor system of needing to loot the bags probably contribute to this. IMO it’s a terrible system and drop rate combined that make it so bad.
There’s been several times where I have several bags around my corpse. Or I had to leave badges behind since I play a very mobile/evading build.
Totally true. The system is pretty unsophisticated.
The fact that it is ending is the best gift of all.
Your comments shills my spine…
Maybe it is better for you to read the thread about the loot drop nerf. There you can read the opinion of many players.I doubt that more than 10% out of all those players has ever farmed for more than 30 min at a time.
Regardless of that, my analysis is for cursed shore alone.
Lol. 30 minutes huh? Regardless, your poorly thought out theory, if true, makes absolutely no sense from a programming perspective.
At this point they are getting beyond redemption. Logging in less and less. The smarminess, condescension and inaction is unfortunate. Makes the overall experience less fun for me, dealing with the change, and knowing what I can expect from the gaming company.
The underwater bots have been in Southsun for WEEKS. Actually, there are more and more. I have reported some that are still there almost a month later. I am not sure what the point is of reporting them because they should be detectable because of their in-game behavior, or at the least they should be investigated once reported…within a reasonable amount of time. Given those facts, one should not be seeing the same bots week after week after reporting them. I read strong words about the gaming company combating these bots, I hope their actions catch up with their words.
A. I am not sure what a “good faith trader” is, but it sounds like someone who does not like being undercut.
B. I will with no remorse undercut to sell my items, if I can stand the loss
C. When the same is done to me, I shrug and move on…it takes longer for my stuff to sell is all
D. People are using bought and/or earned gold and cornering the market on items, are they "good faith traders’? How do I know who is who?
In closing I would say that you should pay a fee if you want to re-list your items, as it works today. You are no more a legitimate or good faith trader because you listed something first, than the person who lists it second or third.
There is definitely a double standard out there…manipulating the market is seen as clever, and undercutting by 1C is what outrages people. Pish posh, I say.
Lol nice market manipulation
That would explain a lot of the TP activity
Annoying recycled and unimaginitive mobs. Probably anti bot as suggested. If so, glad we can be penalized because making life harder for bots and players is easier than banning bots. Even bots reported multiple times who have been around for a month.
In game? Not necessarily
Everyone should know by now, it is to control the Bot population. If you look around, you never ever see bots in this game. GW2 has the Best Bot control of any other MMO I have ever played.
The economy is already pretty solid and always has been. Just make a crafter and sell your wares, you will make a ton of money! Also please ensure you have a full set of MF gear and run dungeons, it is very easy to make money in this game if you do it the right way.
I have been seeing the same bots for weeks, and yes they were reported. If you listen to the dungeon-only crowd they are all for eliminating drops from mobs so as to not reward the bots.
Penalize bots not players
I like to hunt and wander and explore, and sometimes I hunt in a specific area for ease, and when I do this I am “farming” I suppose. But no more so than the Orr zergs or running 20 fractals runs per day IMO. Anyway, before the November patch I made a living playing my way, and got some decent drops for my trouble…that is no longer the case. Coincidence? Bad luck? If so there are more than a few of us. Bottom line for me is before November patch I was happy playing my way and was moderately rewarded. I would like that to be the case again. And while I appreciate all of the “tips” from people who tell me to play their way, make gold, and stop complaining; that is not the point. You can play your way and make a good living. I no longer can since a patch. I am not alone in experiencing this.
Three words – dungeons, Gem Store
You can’t buy gems with real money?
The intent is to get folks buying gems with real money and converting to gold. Farming has been nerfed.
Never spent cash on gems, I have more gold than I know what to do with. Just because a few exploits were fixed doesn’t mean “farming was nerfed”
Exploits like champs dropping loot? I am far from alone here, see sticky above and closed thread on drop rates.
Seems like End game is dungeon grinding and PVE zergs (people actually ask where the zone zergs are). WvW zergs are common but there is fun to be had causing trouble with a small mobile group.
I perceive that your patch notes are inaccurate because in reality I have killed many champions with no drop…it is even worse with veterans. Like many have said, it is likely your anti-bot DR system that is hosing us legitimate players. Meanwhile despite reporting bots not only are the same ones I. Southsun shores – more are joining them.
Seen champs drop no loot. So it “should” be looked into
Same bots in southsun shores as always, why are they running 24/7 if DR is supposed to hinder them?
I mixed up zones quite a bit last night but did not see much improvement in loot. I even took the suggestion of exploring and completing a Lowbie zone and it was fun as the poster advertised. Made under a gold. But, gonna do it again tonight and hope former drops but mainly zone out literally and have fun.
Oh and to those calling shenanigans on the 80 who said he tears through mobs in lowbie zones, well even with level scaling I pretty much did. Not a complaintind you.
It is an improvement
Totally agree with Chamone. If someone hunts open world for 5 hours switching zones killing hundreds of mobs, then statistically shouldn’t they have some decent loot? I am not a math wiz but I am not sure what is going on.
Disagree with OP. Hunting mobs and expecting some loot is not a new concept. Grinding is as grinding does my momma used to say. I call it hunting. Open world hunting and DEs should offer the same reward potential as dungeons, or at a minimum there should not be such a huge disparity. I don’t mean I should get the same loot you get from killing a dungeon boss from a veteran in southsun, but if I kill 45 or so such veterans, I think I should get more than a piece of leather.
Not seeing this at all.
It is pay to win. They sell in game currency, which gives a huge advantage to folks who buy gems and sell them. This was not necessarily true until they gutted the drop rate and introduced DR to combat bots and penalized folks who like to farm. Well, all this talk about banning bots and I still see the same ones day after day.
I could swear it has gotten worse for me as of the patch. I tried farming in different zones for a long time before returning to my favorite area (at least 24 hours) and I am actually getting less in drops. 70-ish mobs, more than half with nothing, 5 crafting mats, 1 green weapon, and the rest garbage loot. Meanwhile the bots are still there….teleporting guardians and all.
I like it, to each their own.
I like farming there, I actually like hunting under water, but I have to compete with the same bots I have been seeing for weeks. Once I think I accidentally swam away from too many mobs and passed a bot and he got killed.
The karka are annoying, and the zone is uglier even than Orr. Agree is it mostly a dead zone. Waste.
