By the way, why is it that the only keep you can treb from SM belongs to the last place team? Seems to me that someone should of thought of that at some point, and edited the distance between the two. One of these days I’m gonna stop trying to apply logic to video games :/

Did you actually think about that before you posted it.. Clearly they lost the week before, and need an advantage…

We will never know the reason why they did that and it doesn’t really matter anymore now since everyone got equal chance to be red but before it wasn’t that great.

Either the weakest was so bad that they were the one being treb from SM and lost their keep or they were good enough to treb SM to help blue cap it

Well then just remove outer wall like I said. Outer wall is undefendable and boring treb war.

I’d only want the outer wall removed for a moat with doors only accessible through underwater combat.

Even better a lava moat with the only path across being a jumping puzzle being the only way across. The jumping puzzle changes positions constantly. You can not mesmer portal across.

SM lag problem fixed. I will take my free legendary now, thanks.

Replace it with the Halloween JP. Everyone has to stack up, and wait for a starting point. Only the best make it, the rest die. I would do it. +1 for that idea good sir.

No no, keep it simple.

Just make the NPC carrying the orb a very slow moving champion that can’t defend itself : like a champion dolyak.

If your server escort that dolyak successfully you get an orb in your keep. If not, then the enemy zerg will kill your dolyak. It’s simple here. It’s a champion so it can’t be one shot but the enemy still have plenty of chance to kill him. Also, for defending him it’s simple : if you wipe their zerg then they can’t kill it.

Please stop finding problems where there are only solutions.

Come on, everyone know there is a ton of easy fix to the hack problem. For example, have a NPC carry the orb to the keep. While he carry it you just have to protect him.

Some good suggestion…

My thought for underwater combat was to use the quaggan node and make it like seal of lyssa again. Then you can capture middle island and when you do it send 3 veteran and a couple of normal quaggan to NW, NE, SW, SE and South camp in the borderland. So, a good advantage.

Quaggan node wouldn’t be ignored anymore and we would get nice underwater fight. But I guess you will say it’s too PvE for your taste

Why not simply make the orb give bonus only in home land? If it’s your borderland then getting the orb give you bonus but only for this map. Orb won’t give bonus in other map than your home borderland.

It should help to defend your homeland a lot!

You are not fighting a PvE boss you are fighting 2 servers…

Currently you are fighting 2 gates to access the lord. What I propose is to fight 3 champion to access the lord. But only the 2 other servers can stop you from capping the champion seal and killing the lord.

This castle is the most boring keep to upgrade and siege up. All we want to do in Stonemist Castle is to have awesome 3 ways fight and be able to treb surrounding towers.

My suggestion is simple : remove the outer wall of SM and make a 3 seal protection like Temple of Lyssa to access the Castle lord room. Just put the seal where the outer gates currently are. At each seal you put a champion to defend it. When all 3 seals are down you can enter the lord room. If the defending team recapture one of the seal then the lord become invincible and you can no longer enter the lord room.

Remove Stonemist Castle and replace it by…

A huge open world PvP arena with a big boss in the middle and 3 seals like Temple of Lyssa. Keep the towers so the server controlling the area can still place trebuchets.

No walls, no gates. Just awesome 3 ways battle all the time. The idea is that there is 3 seals, a keep lord with his guards, that players must take down. Once the 3 seals are down they can attack the boss, the castle lord. One server will be owning the area, like before. The goal of that server is to protect the 3 seals and the castle lord.

The 2 other servers can’t access the castle lord as long as the seals are up and if they are on the castle lord and the server owning the area recap a seal then they can no longer enter the lord room but those inside can still try to cap the “castle”.

The server owning the area get 35 points to WvW score and exclusive access to a few towers designed to place treb and hit surrounding towers.

Sorry but it seems we don’t play the same WvW. I would like to find a plausible scenario where I would need a despawn timer of 1 hour on a Ram but it’s totally impossible.

What are the place where the ram is both useful AND can be left alone for more than 5 minutes without being destroyed? —-> None.

If you let a Ram at a door and leave it there, it will be destroyed by the guard before you come back. The only things that long despawn timer for Rams favor is griefing by putting it in useless place like on wall and to take 1 spot in your siege cap.

Note : Despawn timer of Rams would be refresh if used.

Commander chat suppression

Solution :

Create a separate /say chat only for commander with a different color in which you can only type a pre-selection of simple and useful command for commanding.

Example : “Follow me”, “Build this”, “Take supplies”, “Stop! Wait!”

And… Done!

Unfortunately, as a commander, I have to repeat what I say in the /say chat to make sure people are building the weapons for the seige, taking all of the supply from the camp, or even switching seige targets and unfortunately, much of the time, I find myself suppressed because I repeat myself over and over and over again.

People don’t join squads often and having the ability to not be suppressed in your squad may be useful but until you have a sizeable amount of people in your squad, it is useless.

This is exactly why I propose this solution : The special commander /say chat won’t be suppressed and can’t be used by gold spammer because you can only type pre-selected command.

Since it is like /say chat, everyone around the commander should be able to see the messages in a little bubble above the head of the commander and in the chat. No need to join squad or anything.

Also, you can repeat as much as you want the basics command that you need to repeat non-stop (follow me, take supply, build) without being suppress.

Like I said —> problem solved.

Siege Limit && Siege Despawn Timer

First, it would be nice to have some number on siege limit and siege despawn timer. Lately, as Emhry Bay, we got siege abuse a lot by one individual. He would put ram on all our wall so we can’t place anything. I know MikeFerguson share some number before in this thread :

Unfortunately, some things are not working.

- We were siege cap in EBG last night and I went out and count every single siege I could find out. We had 94 siege other than rams and a few ram inside keep (like 3-4). In the post of mike it states that it’s 100 rams + 100 anything else. So, we should have still been able to build rams at least.

-Trebuchets and golems always disappear and the 30 minutes timer in Mike post seems accurate. Also, build site disappear faster so the 10 minutes timer seems accurate. But Rams, Arrow Carts, Ballista and Catapult takes forever to despawn. Like, I put some AC at a very specific spot on reset night and Thursday they are still there… Also, Rams put on wall by griefer on reset night only disappear after 4 days!? I see only 2 options : either the timer is not 30 minutes for those or people are really stupid and always refresh rams, ac, ballista and catapult but never refresh trebuchets and golems. I prefer to think about the first option.

Here are some suggestion to fix these issues :

- Despawn timer are fine and should be keep. As long as there is a siege limit, despawn timer is the best way to combat griefing. But, the timer could be longer for some siege.
- Despawn timer of rams should be 5 minutes max. Rams is only useful at a door. Either you take the door and the ram is now useless. Or you don’t take the door and the ram get killed. There is no need to have rams that stay around for 5 hours!? This will heavily combat griefing. (Note : The despawn timer is refresh if used)
- All siege should despawn after a fix amount a time, no matter if they are refresh or not. We don’t need 50 sieges in the Keep that never get attack because we are the strong server in our tier…

Pls consider these changes.

Jumping puzzle of the day! In Straits of Devastation, you need to get up on the ruin at Broken Spit point of interest. Here is a tip : the way up is probably not the first one you will find but you will know for sure when you will find it.

Another puzzle in LA. You simply need to get on top of the bank building. Any class can do it with an experimental teleportation gun.

Note : Elementalist have an easy way up.

Ever wondered if it was possible to reach the bottom of Rata Sum from inside? Well it is possible! It’s quite fun to go explore down there.

Note : You need a class with falling damage reduction with you.

Hello,

this one is a little puzzle when you don’t know what to do in Lion Arch. You need to jump on the little fish statue in Grand Plaza, the fish that throw water. Try to do a complete tour. It’s quite an easy one but you can complicate it a bit. There is many mode to the fountain; sometimes they only throw water up, but other time the water circle around the circle of fish. Start your turn when the water bounce on your fish and try to finish a turn before the water catch you back!

Here is the puzzle of the day. It is located above Theing Kenning point of interest in Dredgehaunt Cliffs. It is an easy one. The goal is simply to climb to the top of the mountain. The mountain is split in 2 and you can climb from both side. No special skill required but you might bring an experimental teleportation gun if you want.

I might try to add a new puzzles every day. Still have many in stocks so it should be easy for a while Also, if you have puzzle, post them! I want to try them.

Here is one that I really like. It’s a nice jumping puzzle and well designed. Your goal is to climb to the top of the big tree above Firebreak Fort Waypoint in Mount Maelstrom. The top means the highest branch in the tree! Yes it can be done. The jumps are not very hard but finding the path is very hard.

Note : Every class can do this one, you just need an experimental teleportation gun (only for 1 jump at the end)

Here is another one in Eternal Battleground. Again I found it hard but every class can do it. You need to climb on tower in front of Quentin Post. All the jump on the tower are tricky and you can’t do any mistakes. Still it is a very fun puzzle and you can also put siege weapon on top of it. Might be useful to attack the castle.

The broken wall in Eternal Battleground south-east starting camp.

This one is very hard. And when I say hard, I mean that no matter how good you are you will probably fell a few time trying to get up there. In fact, I could not finish it. I suspect it is possible to go all the way back on top of the wall but was never able to do it. This is as far as I could go. If anyone make it all the way back from the second level I would like to see a screenshot!

By the way, I’m not on the first level but on the second level in the screenshot. Getting to second level is much harder. For those that wonder if you can get to the grassy area at the end of the wall : Yes you can, but it’s easier than getting to second level and no you can’t place siege weapon there. I checked.

Note : Unfortunately, not every class can complete this puzzle. You need a class with a jump skill and a speed buff.

Second one : Kraitbane Haven Waypoint

Climb the tower next to the vista tower, starting from the very bottom. You need to jump on the little wood plank all around the tower. It’s hard but possible! Much more rewarding than the easy vista…

Note : You can also get there jumping from vista tower but that defeat the point.

Hello,

I’m sure that many of you have run through place that are awesome to climb and you really felt like it was put in the game on purpose. But, when you get to the goal there was no chest or achievement. These places should become jumping puzzle with a chest and achievement.

So here, in this thread, let’s share the place that we found and love to climb but are not official jumping puzzle. Screenshot of the goal appreciated!

This is not a platform game, nor is it called Jump Puzzle 2. The one thing we don’t need is yet more jumping puzzles.

ANet should release a separate game for all you lovers of jump puzzles, so you can leave GW2 and stop asking for more.

I disagree. I enjoy Jumping Puzzles as much as you enjoy having Alts. But back to the OP don’t you fret sir, more jumping puzzles are on the way! And they will hopefully be much more difficult. I was listening to a podcast and they interviewed the developer of the Mad King’s Clocktower. He stated that what he’s currently working on will make people go crazy. I can’t wait for it. As far as PvE is concerned, Jumping Puzzles are my favorite things to do. Unlike most PvEasy content, Jumping Puzzles are skill based. Which is why all the QQ on the forums, they aren’t used to PvE that isn’t gear based.

Can’t wait for the new jumping puzzles and totally agree with you that puzzle are skill based. There is no exploit, no easy strat, no endless gear farming. It all come down to; do you have the skill to make the jumps and avoid the traps. They are very nice for casual players that don’t want to spend too much time farming in the game and want to excel at something. Also, there is an exploration part, which is nice, and a tactical part. You can plan ahead your every move for the jumping puzzle; plan the path in your head, remember the trap, the hard jump, etc. It’s like planning the fight for a big hard boss in PvE, but the difference is that you can do it alone. You don’t have to wait for other, or fail because of other. You are only in competition with yourself.

It would be cool if they made an instanced jumping puzzle where the difficulty increases the more you complete it, much like FoTM.

Although I would want it solo. I thought about having coordination in a pug but 30min long swamp level popped in my mind and I shuttered.

Great idea! Everyone would have a jumping puzzle for their level of skill. We got some good idea here; race, puzzle that change over time, difficulty that increase. All this would benefit the jumping puzzle ecosystem.

On a side note, just for the whiner, as it was stated before almost every jumping puzzle are optional and seriously, map completion is optional too. Why are you doing map completion; for the experience, exploration and fun time or just to get a number increasing on a server? Anyway, if you are doing it for the good reason then go and really try the jumping puzzle, they are nice and you are missing something.

Also, I think there is already so much potential for the jumping puzzle in the world already. Every time I walk in a new map I look around me and I see “wanna be” jumping puzzle everywhere. There is no achievement and they are not required for anything, but the developer still took time to put them there. Which makes me think that someone or a couple of people in the team really love jumping puzzle :) I think they add to the world and makes you want to explore more and more. Here is some example of such puzzle :

- the towers at Kraitbane Haven Waypoint : there is 2 towers. One is the vista with the easy path up. The second one is a tower with just a few plank of wood coming out of its side. When I first saw it, I thought the design of the plank was random, but when you check it carefully, you see that it is a path up the tower. In fact, you can start at the very bottom of the tower and reach the top. All the plank are tiny and all jump need to be precise. Took me many time but I did it. I think this one deserve more attention.
- In the starting zone of Eternal battleground there is jumping puzzle too. Again no achievement or anything. I let you discover them.
- Have you reach the bottom of rata sum from the inside? There is a way down!
- Have you reach the lowest part of the cube of rata sum from outside without dying? There is also a way down, find it!

There is many place that are nice to explore like that and they should get more attention. We need to have some sort of achievement or vista or chest to make people aware of these places.

I would suggest a jumping puzzle that randomly changes on a non-static timer. Basically chunks of blocks rearrange themselves based on the timer but clues are provided to indicate the direction in which the character should go or which button/chest should be used to open up the correct pathway.

Love this idea! Great replay value and maze factor. Might be a great spot to organize races.

That’s a shame. And worse yet that I didn’t got the chance to try it (start playing after Halloween). My favorite one so far is Griffonrook bomb run. That one was nice! At first I thought it was impossible but then tried a few times and now I can do it whenever I want.

Challenge are nice and feel rewarding. Farming easy stuff is not. Don’t understand why people whine about hard stuff…

On a side note, I would really like to see some fortress in WvW that you could conquer by running a jumping puzzle. Something like; you use the jumping puzzle to get inside (might also be the only way to get inside?!) then once you get inside you can do something to open the door for the rest of your ally. Need to make it hard of course and with a PvP aspect

Hello,

I love jumping puzzle! In fact, the number one reason that I got hook to this game are the jumping puzzle. I think they add a lot of fun and diversity to the game. When I first encounter them, it was a refreshing experience to have something like that in a MMO.

Only problem?

They are way too easy! All of them! I understand that content must be accessible to the mass, but I think that harder jumping puzzle would benefit the game. Lot of people love them. It would be nice to have some jumping puzzle that are really hard and frustrating. The type of puzzle that you don’t just start running around and solve in 5 min but rather the one that require you to time your move carefully and that you might try again and again for hour without success.

Give us some challenge and make this challenge rewarding!

But why stop with only harder jumping puzzle? Why not build a complete ecosystems around jumping puzzle? Here is what I’m thinking :

- time race with leader board
- organize race where you get money if you win the race
- betting on the winner of a race (like horse race!)
- making it possible to help bad player complete a puzzle
- dynamic jumping puzzle challenge (add a condition that must be satisfy for example)

Jumping puzzle are nice! People love to have challenge and to compete against each other. Put all that together and get a great mix!
