For the record, they doubled the cooldown on symbol of wrath, while this does help them control the usage of retaliation, any traits affecting symbol size/duration/etc, as well as the way they map the skill layouts based on cooldown and not on natural combos means that it affects other aspects beyond simply retaliation. The increased cooldown just seems like a misplaced band-aid to a problem, there were many alternatives to fixing retaliation uptime and usage.

As a guardian who uses greatsword I don’t see a problem with them changing the skills. The weapon is still great, and increasing the cooldown on the sigil is a decent answer to the obvious problem of retaliation while not lowering the damage output of the weapon.

Thanks, I’m correct then, because I think this is working perflects as intended – For PvE.

I think the PvP aspect of it was overlooked during the design phase and it’s power wasnt realised. So yeah, the PvP aspect likely needs to change. It is not an exploit.

Even in PVE? Because its perfectly natural for someone to never be harmed while attacking. If this is your belief, then please just leave. We’re trying to fix a problem, not fuel the fire.

Why are you being so defensive? Everybody more or less agreed with you: the ability is dumb and probably not working as intended in PvP.

I think your choice of words (exploit, in this case) is the issue people are having. It’s not an exploit. It’s using an ability that’s probably not working as intended.

And, for the record, you CAN pretty much spam it indefinitely with the right build.

And when you use it in this type of situation, its called an exploit. You’re exploiting the thing that’s “not working as intended” to your advantage.

Why are you even talking about this? Report it as a bug or suggest that it gets changed right here on the forum. It’s a problem, but that map is an afterthought in the grand scheme of things. They aspire to make this game into an E-Sport and have a lot of promises to keep and are working hard to implement them. Meanwhile this insignificant problem is being aggrod by you. Honestly I’m entertained. I’ve done this before on my thief, and I can tell you that it’s only really possible to keep it going near indefinitely if you have the traits for it.

Hot joins are a joke though. The moment I was satisfied on my thief I went into the real pvp. TPvP. I could care less about an extremely broken map that was added during the last stress tests. Do you even know how many people CRIED and POSTED EVERYWHERE to make sure that Capricorn didn’t get in the tournament rotation? Please stop posting. That map isn’t real.

It’s not a bug. It cannot be an exploit. I’m 100% certain it’s not working as intended, but this is one of the reasons why this map is not in the tournament rotation. I’m sorry to say this but anyone who goes into the water on that kitten map is asking to get killed. There are so many things wrong with it that I can’t help but wonder how it got into the normal map rotation even.

Also I’d be pretty upset as a serious TPvPer if that map got any fixes before REAL fixes were implemented.

This, we need modes that move people away from feeling like they need to build 100% glass cannon.

Also I’ve not read anywhere that there will be an arena mode. In GW1 != will be in GW2

Would need to be ONLY random arenas. The meta for that mode would take all of 1 day to develop into the same team being ran by everyone because why not?

I was more successful in hour one of playing my mesmer than any of the 5 other classes I play, most of which I studied for weeks. I took a very basic approach by just trying to maximize illusions. Its the dominant synergy available throughout the weapon abilities, utilities, and trait lines, and it’s not hard to accomplish on a near constant basis (even after the nerf).

Besides refusing to use the portal or turn people into a bird, I tried to do what the average Joe would when I made my mesmer. This was the only class whose first build I didn’t even have to tweak to be very successful with, and nothing’s changed.

I don’t think we’re gonna see any marked results from the meta by this adjustment. For me this isn’t an L2P issue because my comprehension and execution doesn’t change much when I select characters.

Business aside, I understand it’s just good life practice to err’ on the side of caution. I believe the people at Anet will get this matter straightened out eventually. I just wanted to kindly restate imho that the last fix is probably chipping away at the wrong multiplier.

I believe less pooping out of illusions is a step in the right direction. Damage wasn’t nerfed, only the rate of fire.

And no. Phantasms themselves were outrageous. You could just sit and poop out illusions and absolutely trounce people because of the damage output. It’s still just as strong. Why are you crying?

I heard guardians were nerfed. Read patch notes. Looks more like bunker guardians were buffed. Can still get perma retaliation, but because some things had damage reduced I live longer. Thanks A-net.

Touching haste at all is counter productive to what JonathanSharp has stated to be the real issue. I agree wholeheartedly with him on the subject of glass cannons not being able to fulfill their original intended role. They should be able to kill even bunkers 1v1 in a battle of skill.

As it stands, right now on my guardian it takes 2 good people to kill me. Nothing can hope to kill me in a 1v1 in time under 30 seconds (well after my backup will arrive). 2 balanced builds will probably not kill it, and it can handle a godlike amount of bad players.

I think that’s a joke, and not intended. What’s the real counter to bunkers? more numbers? I don’t want the meta to degenerate into guardian stacking teams. I think some glass cannons (thief) can put out too much damage while others (ele) struggle to put out that much because their combo is difficult to land. Meanwhile bunkers are completely destroying the intended chain of Glass > Bunker. Bunker > Balanced. Balanced > Glass in 1v1s.

tl:dr Thieves need damage reduced. Bunkers need survivability drastically reduced

Really? It takes 2-3 players to get to 25 stacks of bleed.
Direct damage from 2-3 players unmolested can kill someone in seconds too.

Actually, while direct attacks do their damage upfront, and once they hit, the damage is done, damage over time can be prevented halfway through condition removal.

Furthermore, a single player doesn’t reach the cap.
With that in mind, everything else in your argument is invalid.

How can it be fair that you can have multiple players dealing full damage to 1 target, but when it comes to condition damage there’s a limit?

There are builds that easily hit the 25 cap. Be careful, your lack of pvp experience is showing. The average hybrid bleed build or necro/engi will have trouble getting over 10 stacks that’s for sure.

Diminishing returns on stuns/knockbacks/dazes are needed.

It’s actually quite easy to pull off. It’s the closest thing to a gimmick strat since 8 of the same class in Heroes Ascent. Factor in the block glitch and you have an infestation on your hands.

Outrageous? Hardly. What was outrageous was mesmer builds that could hide in a crowd of THEMSELVES while pooping out phantasms that took out chunks of people’s health and being able to easily have multiple of these things out that never died until either they or the target died.

I think prices for both are a bit high but if you play more than 5 minutes a day you can easily turn a profit if you only die once every 30 mins or so.

Are you going broke because you’re using every dime you have to buy exotics? If so, your argument is invalid because you’re not earning the items. I find that when I actually pve I see everything as free gold. Port to Orr, random Orichalcum ore, 1 hit of that paid for my travel. Gold everywhere. Mobs everywhere. Mobs drop things so randomly that I can’t ignore them because I know that the mob I ignore will drop a rare.

I sort of agree with this in PvE, but people need to be somewhat handicapped for going massive bleed spec. If it stacked indefinitely or even twice as much as it does now then mobs will take twice as much bleed damage as they do now and die that much faster, breaking the balance in the player’s favor until most mobs in the game had their health tweaked.

Guardian: Swap Shield skill 5 with Focus skill 5.

LOL. OK… Healing power definitely isn’t for every build…. If you’re at all worried about healing power then you’re taking a lot of it for evil purposes the likes of which I will not comment on.

It’s also worth noting that I’m thinking of PvP. Really doubt you’d want much healing power in pve for obvious reasons.

Yes, we’re already thinking ahead to esport commentating. It’s much easier for new players to see the blue/red teams.

Think about any sport you’ve ever watched. Imagine that each player could wear whatever they wanted to look bad kitten It’d be much harder to tell who’s on which team.

So for us, the blue/red essentially equates to team jerseys.

Etc.

Would be nice if there were a personal option to turn it off. TBH because I play with the same people all the time I really don’t need the red vs blue thing. I just want to be able to admire my kitten kitten kitten color scheme while I’m kitten at a kitten kitten point on my kitten bunker.

Not quite sure if there’s a solution to this problem.

The best I can think of is to put a hard cap on how much damage per second the treb can take. Then tweak it’s armor so it takes as much as critters in pve. This would make the treb’s death more of a steady, timed thing. Power and condi builds would do the same amount of damage… in theory.

Some of you guys have no clue. At the moment there are some bunker builds that are extremely difficult and sometimes impossible to kill 1v1 even with the greatest cheese. Some classes can’t even hope to kill a good bunker regardless of what spec they play. The issue is that bunkers need to die 1v1. It should be a test of skill, not a test of button pressing.

I know this may sound blasphemous, but I play bunker guardian, warrior, and even support ele. I think it’s absolutely stupid that someone has to be a pistol whip thief with thieves guild to even stand a chance. Dying to a skilled player who sacrificed survivability for damage should happen if I play so much as 1% worse than him. Right now it doesn’t however. Imagine all those bunkers you try to kill who are cackling at their monitors.. Ignorant to whatever you’re doing, but none of that matters because they have 3400 armor, brainless regen, and stability.

What do I do in this situation?

I’ve never had an issue with this. I get immobilized more than enough, perhaps it has to do with what you’re doing the moment you get immobilized. Try recreating the situation or even better uploading a video of it.

Correct me if I’m wrong. I bunker a lot and have tons of experience with getting hit by immobilize. It doesn’t prevent your character from using skills. It does however influence the ones that cause your character to move a distance. I’m not sure if it’s possible to do things like bull rush while immobilized. It is not possible to use ground targeted leap skills unless you do them at your feet so your character only has to jump up.

This is fair imo, you don’t want the person who is immobilized to avoid the condition altogether by moving their character with skills. The only exception to this that I know of is thief with shortbow teleporting.

What class are you playing that suffers so greatly from this? Are you aware that dodge roll is disabled while immobilized?

This is a bad idea. This promotes the employment of even more bunker blasphemy on Kyhlo. After they handle being able to carry repair kit through portal it’ll go back to an extreme bunker being on treb like before. Do you really want a guardian with all the knockback in the world on the treb? If you raise it’s toughness and hp drastically when he’s around then WHAT DO YOU EXPECT TO DO? You cannot kill him without help and he can survive you until his help arrives if he can hold his own weight.

There’s a hotkey for sheating. There’s a lot of interesting things you can do with it like cancel animations of some abilities. I highly suggest getting used to it. It’s extremely useful.

  2. Lock in characters, weapon sets, traits when countdown STARTS

With 5 minutes I could zone in, change characters, kill a live combat dummy, restart my computer, load game, get into game with time to spare.

If you can’t kill someone who’s been Moa’d as a glass cannon mesmer then the problem is with you. 2 dodges isn’t enough when you can’t do anything for 10 seconds. My bunker guardian can handle 2 or 3 people for a reasonable amount of time, but when she’s Moa’d she’s butter on a hot sidewalk. You lost all cred when you mentioned your mesmer in an anti mesmer elite thread.

Moa IS ridiculous. The duration is absolutely too long in my opinion. Any mesmer who can carry his weight will kill you during it. I suggest halving the duration AND the cooldown on it to make it less rage inducing.

Time warp was just a bad idea. Instant leg up in a group fight. Usually the first fight mid or to secure forest boss ganks, or even GANK the guild lord. I don’t think the cooldown is long enough for how good it is. IMO it should be once per game or some crap… Absolutely too good. Time warp, enemies die.

Very good elites. They shine a lot harder than some other classes like ele and necro who suffer from garbage elites. Necro should lose plague form for something more threatening IMO. Or maybe make it so you can use utilities while transformed. This would make all the different elite forms much more viable.

I remember back during the beta weekends Paid Tournaments were able to be created. I never successfully got into one and this could have been for a couple reasons. One was that they were just not working, but the more realistic reason could have been that there simply weren’t enough people who had enough Tournament Tickets to queue as a group of 5.

The reason why now is a perfect time for Paid Tournaments is that plenty of people have a surplus of Tournament Tickets. Especially the more competitive teams who stomp through unorganized pugs or less organized teams. Adding them now would give people who have tons of them a way to fight better teams, and for lesser teams to get experience against better teams. People would go into Free Tournaments with the goal of making it to the end for a better reward, thus giving them more enthusiasm to better form their team.

With the lack of real challenge or clashing between good teams a lot of people are restless. Some are more vocal about this than others and it can be damaging to the community. I know a ranked system may be a distance away, but this would be an exciting change that would lead to a lot of good footage and chatter.

As a bunker warrior I can effectively counter a guardian point control. He spends all his time trying to get me off the point. I have two easy stun breaks and can get as much as 22s of stability in a row. When a partner rotates to me he DIES quickly because my hammer is designed to lock people down. When his partner rotates to him I live a while longer because I’m fighting a 1v1.5 because he sacrificed everything for survival.

I play both guardian and warrior bunker and I can say that guardian has the leg up in survival while warrior has the leg up at making sure the target quickly dies by removing their ability to fight back for 5s while partner kills them unless they have stability. (and even then that’s useless against a mesmer or necro roamer)

If it comes time to nerf: please split PvP and PvE skills

I’m sure they would do that. Also when I was leveling in PvP at around lvl 60 I ran into a mesmer who was soloing a champion event mob that usually takes 15 or so people to handle easily. The mobs in PvE do not know how to handle illusions.

The heal from the 2nd skill “Compassionate Banner” on Banner of Tactics heals for significantly less than the tooltip implies.

I was going to run this banner in a bunker build for pvp, but the fact that with 1,123 healing power it heals for less than 1k when the tooltip says over 4k is a huge turnoff. Banners are not even useful as roadmarkers in pvp at the moment.

I was having this issue and managed to fix it by disabling overlay in mumble. Forgot I had that on and it definitely doesn’t work with GW2 for me. With mumble and MSI Afterburner open, GW2 would not start without crashing. I didn’t get constant CTDs though, hardly ever really…

I don’t think it’s strange that it misses the person by a few steps if they’re moving. It should always hit stationary targets, and it should somewhat follow the properties of a semi honing ranged attack like the thief 1 with shortbow.

But yeah, it does do strange things sometimes and seems to completely bug out.
