Overall I’m excited. Runes/Sigils combos I can play around with, balance changes, and pve gear in pvp (vice versa). Lastly pvp rewards giving incentive to play pvp again. Also a new map, even though it’s only custom arenas.
As for the rank debacle, overall it’s a change for the better. They want to make dragon achievable. Yes it sucks for the few +70r people out there. However that’s life, sometimes you draw the short end of the straw. I’d at least give them a unique title or something.
Heavens Rage
There are a few in here, depending on how you want to play, and what weapons you want to use.
Heavens Rage
Another reason for the high price is there are no reliable ways to get them. Other runes have recipes, these do not. So the only way to get them are. Buying from the tp, salvaging from a drop, or getting lucky with the Mystic Forge.
Heavens Rage
That’s good. I don’t understand why the rune costs 2g. Could anyone help me understand? I would think 30 hp/s is garbage.
Buyers have been buying up runes and sigils in hopes that they become the next big thing so they can make a profit. We don’t know how much Anet is increasing the regen by so it’s a gamble.
Heavens Rage
I’m somewhat confused by this;
Wins and Team arenas give you faster progression in the rewards track. Custom Arenas are also quicker and almost as good as team arena in terms of rewards track progression.
So is there really any point in playing tpvp? If hotjoins are going to be almost as good, what’s the point in tpvp? I mean there are leaderboards. However those are broken for the most part, and nobody really takes them seriously. The only reason I could see to play tpvp, if I’m working on my champ titles. I was hoping for maybe some specific tpvp rewards, but it doesn’t look like it.
Maybe once seasons and ladders come out they can implement more.
Heavens Rage
Guardian can actually achieve a lot of passive healing under the right circumstances.
Absolute Resolution with around 600 healing power is 150 hps.
Rejuvenation Booster is another 100 hps.
Mango Pie is 85 hps.
Dolyak is 30 hps, but as you said it’s been changed.
So that’s 365 hps just in passive healing. More after they buff the Dolyak runes.
Heavens Rage
Yes, I was misinformed about Dogged March being changed. That is also true about warrior getting perm regen with the use of banners. However Guards can easily achieve perm regen too.
Heavens Rage
Anet removing the match up section was probably one of the most detrimental decisions they have made to WvW. The section was a great place for servers to chat, make rivalries, friends, and more. Sure there was some trash talk and trolling, however this happens in any competitive environment.
Heavens Rage

If immobilize wasn’t always the last condition to be removed, I wouldn’t mind so much. However it’s always cleansed as the lowest priority which makes it very annoying and strong.
Heavens Rage
Warriors really don’t have that much regen. They have three main sources; Healing Signet, Dogged March, and Adrenal Health. Healing Signet requires them to give up any type of burst healing, unlike Guard that can have VoR and a healing skill. Also add in the fact that it’s being nerfed. They are also completely removing the regen from Dogged March in the feature patch, so that will be one less source they have. So two out of their three sources are taking serious nerfs next patch.

This is a very broad question, and you’re going to get a lot of different answers. When it comes to PvE, damage is king, it’s just the way the game was designed. So Berserker is going to be your best choice, if you don’t feel comfortable with Berserker, Knight is also decent.
WvW there are hundreds of different gear choices to go with. Soldier would be a safe middle ground. If you feel like you need more damage you can just go Berserker trinkets and weapons. If you want to be more support you can just go Soldier or Cleric trinkets and weapons.
The best advice I can give anyone, is just go to one of the many gw2 builders, and play around with it until you find something you like.
Heavens Rage
Yeah, I’d highly recommend you find a guild you like. It makes this game a lot better.
Heavens Rage
No he didn’t lie. It most likely did have a 40% spike in population, after the Wintersday patch that introduced more rewards in pvp. However it probably did decline quite rapidly due to the fact of the lack of updates pvp gets.
Heavens Rage
A couple more champion titles would be nice. 150 is fairly fast to achieve.
Something on the lines of:
150- Champion X
500- Elite X
1000- Legendary X
Heavens Rage
I’m assuming this is for after the feature patch? Since the Celestial ammy is getting revamped. I’ve played around with a lot of Celestial builds, and they always been subpar because the lack of stats they bring. You can’t really function any role, you’re not tanky enough for bunker roles, yet you lack the power to do anything else. So you’re just kind of stuck in limbo with a mediocre build.
However with that being said I look forward to trying Celestial builds out (including this one) after the feature patch.
Heavens Rage

This will probably be one of the few tournaments I watch, just because the amount of people playing in it. I’d love to see some upsets. There are some very talented people that don’t play that much pvp.
Heavens Rage
It’s called Zealot’s Speed because it originally was the Symbol of Swiftness, however they changed it to Wrath after the beta.
But yes I’d like it to be something along those lines. Gain five seconds of swiftness on weapon swap.
Heavens Rage
Yes, that build is still viable after the feature patch. Nothing fundamentally changes with it. However if you use 10/25/30/5/0 then yes, you’d see a small nerf due to the Vigorous Precision change.
As for the Healway and Traveler runes, yes they work well together. However if you plan on solo roaming with Healway I’d advise you change the gear a bit. The build relies on retaliation and burning to down people, pretty much a fight of attrition. This isn’t really the way to go if you solo roam. Good players will easily see this and either back off or find another way to kill you. With that being said, I use 0/0/10/30/30 solo roaming from time to time. However I have it so I still do decent direct damage also.
Could you give me an example? Btw I forgot but the Healway with Traveler I would use Purging Flames to keep condi removal as well as Master of Concecrations for reduced coldown and increased duration. Forgot about that because the link I gave is one that I have saved on my browser and I forgot to look at that. It would look like this http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vUAQNAsdRlsAXgqF2C3KcFyZYOE/wf4ES2DRCBTQsHYUG1RXFUIA-zUCBofJDPUQk+YRjUBAJpFRjtMsIasqZCpKbYqXROAACwNbz28mZzbezb+oH9oH9oHtjezjezjezyAwMGA-w
This is what I use when I solo roam with 0/0/10/30/30.
You still have more then enough sustain, I find around 850 healing power to be good because that’s when your dodge rolls heal for around 1k. Much better damage due to the CC and being able to take advantage of Empowering Might. Also you keep perm Vigor in fights
Now thats a build I can’t afford in any way. I would be farming months for that most likely since I “hate” farming (I do CoF usually and until April 15th I will just do PvP most likely, this is all plans for after the patch)
That’s fine I know most people wouldn’t be able to afford something like that. I’m just saying if you want to use Healway for solo roaming, just make sure you can also do a bit of damage too. Don’t rely solely on sustain. GW2 promotes more offense over defense, especially in a solo roaming environment.
Heavens Rage
Builds/Gear (continued)
Frontline/Commander
0/0/4/6/4- This is a more defensive type of frontline build. It relies more on support then raw power.
Small Group
5/0/0/5/4- This is a symbol bomber build, and is extremely fun and rewarding to play. Greatsword is a must have, since Symbol of Wrath is our hardest hitting symbol. Other weapons you have to choose from are hammer, staff, and mace. Hammer has the ability to apply symbols the fastest, so it’s a solid choice. Staff is great for more support, and mace for a hybrid of damage/support. Just make sure you have people supporting you when you run this build. You have some sustain, but not as much as a typical build.
0/1/6/1/6- This build has the most utility when it comes to medi builds for small group comp. It gives you a range of different abilities to apply CC, while supporting your group with cleanses and stab (also a plethora of other boons). It also hit extremely hard. This is the very definition of a dps/support build. It can also be used effectively in solo roaming.
Solo Roaming
6/1/6/0/1- This one of my personal favorites, and it’s not seen that often due to the 30 into Zeal. However this build has some of the highest burst potential. You can easily get +15 stacks of vulnerability, and then you also factor the damage multipliers from scepter, symbol, and Fiery Wrath. If you done correctly very few builds will survive your initial burst.
2/6/0/2/4- This build is a bit unorthodox, however people have been asking if there are viable heavy signet builds. It’s true that signet builds aren’t up to the same standards of other builds. Nevertheless there are ways to make them work. This is an example.

All I can say is I’m not surprised. GW2 is a casual game pure and simple. Anet needs a way to bring more people into PvP, so they make things easier to achieve. Veteran players will still play regardless, so that’s not really a focus for them. If they lose a couple of veteran players but gain a lot of new people. It’s a win for them.
Do I think it was the right choice, no. However I can’t blame them on their decision. In the long run it’s better.
Heavens Rage
Mine went away. You just have to relog.
Nevermind, if you change maps or anything it’ll come back.
Heavens Rage
(edited by Harbinger.8637)
I honestly see this as a cop out. Instead of taking the time to balance underwater combat and adding another dimension to the game. Anet just says forgot it, and removes it. I love underwater combat because it adds a whole new element of fighting.
Sad to see it go.
Heavens Rage
Really depends on the content you play. I actually use Celestial ascend on my main set, however I mix it with other gear types. I would not recommend going full Celestial, and also avoid Celestial trinkets at all cost. They are a stats loss as a whole.
Heavens Rage
Unlike Season 1, when all of bronze knew that HoD would take first. This 2nd go around should be fairly close. A lot of servers have claimed their guilds or part of their guilds are on “vacation”. We all know that when the tournament starts, the PvE AP grinders will come out in hordes to WvW. I like breaking up my predictions into brackets, its not a sure lock, but it helps judge where I think a server will be placed.
1. Gates of Madness
2. Sorrow’s Furnace
3. Devona’s Rest4. Ferguson’s Crossing
5. Anvil Rock
6. Darkhaven7. Kaineng
8. Eredon Terrace
9. Ehmry Bay
This is what I’d also predict. Fairly accurate list.
Heavens Rage
It’s a bit of both. You have to deal with 4v5 and team comp, neither of these you can control. Sure skill plays an important, but you can only do so much. It’s very hard to remain in top 25 if you play actively. Most people will get high, then simply stop playing. Come back after a week or so, play one match, and automatically shoot back to where they were. However I really don’t blame them.
Here’s an example, I haven’t played soloq in a couple of weeks:
Heavens Rage
I really don’t understand all the hate for the shield. In PvE, it’s not that good. However WvW/PvP is another story. I always run shield over focus when it comes to group play. Protection is one of the strongest boons, and with the right amount of boon duration you can get nine seconds from Shield of Judgment for you and five allies. Shield of Absorption is another great skill. Great for stomps and rezs. What most people don’t know is you can cast it, and keep moving. You don’t have to sit there, and the added healing is a bonus. The only fault I find with the shield is it suffers from fairly long CDs, but that’s nothing traiting can’t fix. It fits its role perfectly for a defensive offhand.
People also need to stop comparing it to focus because they each serve a different role.
Torch= Offensive
Focus= Hybrid
Shield= Defensive

In a frontline/zerg build, is it an absolute MUST to run Altruistic Healing?
Is it okay to completely drop the Valor line? (seeing how the traits not that good anyway)
It’s not a must, however it’s very helpful since you’re always around people. So you’ll get the maximum benefit from it. If you don’t want to use Valor I’d recommend some type of x/x/x/30/x build for frontline.

Make a sticky out of this guide, it’s great
Just one question. in some of your build you have full offencive infusions on the trinkets. now How do you plan on doing such an impossible task? Rings you can make them infused, but just them and right now as it is it’s a waste of money, and acessores you can’t, and since all ascended are unique and you can’t take 2 of the smae at the same time… yeah impossible
Well that is true, it really is a waste of money. +5 stat isn’t worth it imo. Also I’ll update the builds a fix the full offensive infusions. Right now it’s not possible, but maybe when 500 Jewelry comes out it could be.
As for the guide, I plan on finishing weapons and utilities this week. However when it comes to sigils/runes, I’m going to wait until after the feature patch. Anet is changing them significantly, so I think it would be in everyone’s best interest to wait.
Heavens Rage
Legendaries never meant anything to begin with, all it is rng and grind. Only reason why I like them because I can change my stats. If Anet came to me and told me I had to give up all my legendaries or my pvp rank. I’d give up my legendaries without even thinking.
Heavens Rage
I can’t believe some people are actually complaining about it. I have multiple legendaries and also +60r in pvp, so I know that amount of dedication that goes into both of these. People always complain about how they want legendaries to mean something, this shows who is the best in the tourney.
It’s an open tourney, anyone can join. Nothing is stopping you from making a team, and competing. I’d actually love to see more team playing.
The top team definitely deserves it.
Heavens Rage
The people that have been playing guard long enough can see this coming. There’s a power creep going on, and they’re not doing anything to address it on Guardian. Sure we are in a good place now, but that’s about to change. They say sigils and runes will balance it out, but I find that hard to believe. Also throw in the fact that Guardian is very stale doesn’t help either.
I’ve been playing Guardian since launch, this is the first time I’ve ever felt this way, and honestly I just want to quit or reroll. I’ll try remain optimistic, and save all judgment until after the patch.

The top team deserves them. I see nothing wrong with this.
Heavens Rage
Fairly underwhelming for the most part.
Amplified Wrath- Still trying to push the condition builds on guard.
Radiant Retaliation- This one I find the most interesting. Have to see how it plays out.
Communal Defense- Not really that great, since there’s a 15 to 20 second ICD on it. Maybe work well with Pure of Heart.
Force of Will- Already discussed this one.
Purity of Body- Makes up for the nerf to Vigorous Precision, and if you use it with Battle Presence makes it very viable.
Overall they are just pushing condition guard more, which could be viable with all the changes to sigils/runes. We have to wait and see.
Communal Defense is the best new grandmaster trait. 15cd is NOTHING. You should not be complaining about this. Think about it. Protector’s strike and this trait gives you a guaranteed 2 blocks every 15secs plus aegis for your allies.
Sure it sounds nice, but are you really going to give up AH or MF for this. Most people won’t. Another thing you have to think about is Aegis doesn’t stack, so it could proc when you already have Aegis.
It’s an ok trait, not something I’d go Grandmaster for. Also I’m mistaken, it’s 20 seconds not 15 seconds.

I think its such bull that FC and DH are tanking. NSP is one of the most skilled player groups i’ve had the pleasure of fighting, imo you guys should tank and let these two servers get what they deserve.
I agree!

Looks like we’ll find out tomorrow, they’re doing a live stream to discuss them all.
Heavens Rage
ALL. OF. THEM.
:D
Cool, thanks for clearing that up. Definitely will be tuning in.
Heavens Rage
Hey everyone,
We’ll be getting into more detail about upcoming new traits in tomorrow’s Ready Up. Hopefully the show will help you to understand a little more regarding this topic.
Do you plan on talking about all the new grandmaster traits or just the ones mentioned in the blog?
I would bet just the ones in the post because the ready up would be 4 hours long with 40 new traits.
Just my guess.
Well she just posted this, so hopefully it’s all of them.
This episode of Ready Up, we’ll be talking about a lot of the things you have all been waiting for! First up, We’ll have Hugh Norfolk and Darrin Claypool on the show to preview a new map that has no capture points. Next, Josh Davis has prepared a presentation to show off all the new traits, while the designers Karl McLain and Roy Cronacher talk about them.
Heavens Rage
I am very curious about the other grandmaster traits though, especially Valor. It has to be good enough to give up AH or MF, since that is the life blood of many WvW/PvP builds. It also might make 30 into Valor viable for PvE.

It’s an ok trait, the problem I see it’s in the Honor line. Honor already increases vitality. The people that complained about Guard not having enough hp are dps builds, and dps builds rarely go that deep into Honor.
Heavens Rage
I played 4282 matches out of which 4046 were tournaments (no skyham farm) and I am rank 58. How come you needed so many?
It depends on what you mostly play. It also took me a little over 6k matches to hit 60, and no I never skyhammer farmed. Hotjoin is my most played, followed by soloq, and then teamq. So I’d get less rank points then someone that just does teamq.

The earliest I could see would be April 15th. April 1st is almost guaranteed to be SAB. I’d probably say early to mid May is when the feature patch will hit.
Heavens Rage
I log in to do my daily, talk to friends and guildies for a bit. Go back to playing Titanfall.

You think they would have released it with this patch, since it was a “maintenance” patch.
Soon

It’s fairly important to me, not just for pvp, but the game as a whole. It’s been about a year and a half. This game is starting to get quite stale, and needs some fresh air. So I’m hoping this patch is something good so I can keep enjoying the game. If not, I’ll just continue to play less and less, until I just quit all together.
