By the looks of it you’re just straight dps, which is why your Vitality and Toughness is so low. Guardians have a ton of different abilities for you to survive. Anymore hp and they would easily be op.

Take my toon for example. I do decent dps and always the last one standing.

Works great if you go a mediation build.

Just increase the range of the scepter, done.

That’s not the problem with it. It’s the slow moving orbs, every other range weapon is instant. Scepter’s orbs are slow.

Also the Scepter is just boring imo.

I used to run shield when I first started to play, buy I stopped. Focus is just so much better. You have a good offensive and defensive skill. Much better then the shield.

It works fairly well in WvW since there are a ton of people. sPvP not so much.

The sword and hammer are amazing. I run this and I love it. Buring from them is great.

I wanted a Humanish race. Norn was boring just giant people, so that left Sylvari.

Druid Summon is pretty bad for 30 points. The only one I like is Take Root. Most of the time I just use my Guardian’s elites.

Well there’s hundreds of builds out there which is why I love this game. No build is right or wrong just depends on your playstyle.

This is a pure offensive build I like to run. All your dmg revolves around buring. I know some people won’t like it because it’s squishy, but if you play smart the dmg is insane.

that’s a lot of long cooldown stuff to be popping at once

That’s why theres traits that reduce CDs and make the ability last longer.

I just use the staff and spam AoE on the gate. Plus ToW with is even better spamming AoEs.

There’s absolutely no way. Toughness does nothing to defend against conditions and while we have many removal abilities, you won’t be able to dispel them all. And please tell me what defensive abilities when compared to the rest? Shield of wrath blocks three attacks which is relatively easy to break with either quickness or short AA. Shield of Absorption? Doesn’t do a thing against stability and leaves you vulnerable for that duration. Healing abilities such as VoR? Maybe 100 a tick with a nice active but once it’s on cd…then what?

This isn’t to bash the profession but ask what in comparison makes it on par or even better?

Conditions are never a problem for me, I actually like them. Contemplation of Purity turns them all into boons, and then I spec so I do more dmg for each boon I have. Plus you have Signet of Resolve with cures one every 10 seconds, and to top it off Smite Condition.

When it comes to defense you have so many abilities it’s ridiculous:
Signet of Judgement
Sanctuary
Wall of Reflection
Shield of Avenger

And I’m not even counting all the shouts that give you stability, retaliation, protection, etc. Oh and let’s not forget your virtues.

Guardian are extremely hard to take down if the person knows what they are doing.

My female sylvari guardian gets all the audio cues. Never had a problem.

My favorite line is when I’m down, and she said “Give up yet?” I’m like lol wtf

It’s pretty much useless in WvW, you’ll teleport to player’s pets…

They should change it so it’s players only. Also allow if you target a certain player to go to them and not just the closest ally.

They have a ton of healing and defensive abilities. My 80 Guardian only has about 13k hp in WvW because I’m using alot of dps gear, but my toughness is over 2000 and I’m always the last to go down in a fight. If you gave me more hp I’d pretty much would be invincible.

I love using Spirit weapons with a sword/torch. If you build right the dmg is insane.

Note: This build is very very squishy. Which is why I run ToC, but the dmg well makes up for it.

Ok cool, I’ll give it a shot. So what should I replace in my build, currently have:

Save Yourselves
Stand Your Ground
Contemplation of Purity

Guessing replace SoG? This is mainly for WvW.

I run a retaliation build in wvw. I can pretty much 1v1 anyone, and easily do 2v1 depending on the skill of the other players.

As for traits I put 25 in both Virtues and Honor. Then 20 in Valor.

Virtues: (Vengeful Retaliation lasts 25% longer. )(Unscathed Contender Deal 10% more damage while under the effects of aegis.)

Honor: (Wrathful Spirit Aegis gives retaliation when it ends.)(Pure of Heart Aegis heals on removal.)

Valor: (Defender’s Flame Gain a 100% chance to burn attackers when blocking.)(Retributive Armor 5% of toughness is given as a bonus to precision.)

Retaliation is pretty good right now. Don’t want to say OP, but it’s up there.

Does anyone use this? Why not just use Stand Your Ground and get retaliation?

HG last longer, but I don’t see the point.
