If it wasn’t for the terrible auto-attack it would be a decent weapon. Smite does amazing dps. Don’t understand why it’s not symbol….whatever Anet. Chains of Lights does exactly what you expect it to.
I really want to use my Immobulus more…
Heavens Rage
The shield follows behind the guardian and periodically generates a Shield of Absorption that absorbs projectiles. The shield generated does not push back.
The shield will not begin generating the shield until a nearby ally is struck.
Works extremely well with holding points. Forces people to get into melee range. Really good combo is Hammer or Greatsword with mace/shield. Also make sure you use some of the traits with it. You can get it to last 30 seconds with only a 48 CD.
Really great. Probably the best spirit weapon imo.

AH hammer is always a solid choice.

For tanking Soldier is the way to go. You won’t be doing as much dmg because your crit % and crit dmg will be low. You can also go Cleric which you use your high healing stat to stay alive.
For traits 0/5/30/30/5, is your best bet. So that way you can max toughness and vitality.
Heavens Rage
Saw this coming a mile away. Kain is the new bandwagon server. People are going to ride to victory, until you hit a few losses. Then everyone abandons ship, and Kain goes right back where it started. Omg WM went to Kain?! Lets all go mooch off of it.

It’s pretty ridiculous. Been trying to craft Infinite Light, but I find it impossible. The zones are always contested on my server. Even when they aren’t I’m lucky to find one or two. If I try to buy them from the tp it’s over +1000g. lol

Plate of Orrian Steak Frittes- +100 Power and +70 Vitality.
Master Maintenance Oil- Gain precision equal to 6% of your toughness. Gain precision equal to 4% of your vitality. +10 Experience from kills.
Heavens Rage
You need to be extremely aggressive against them. With a lot of immobilize, knockdown, knockback, and etc. Also if you see you have a lot of Confusion stacks please stop attacking, and just dodge. Yes it sucks not doing anything, but it’s better then killing yourself.
Also shatter builds are squishy for the most part, so they go down easy.

@ Amins.3710 – What armor set and runes do u use to achieve that?
@ Harbinger.8637 – Would like to know about your armor set and runes and your traits:)
Thanks
The screen is 0/5/30/30/5.
Helm- Knight
Shoulder- Soldier
Chest- Soldier
Gloves- Soldier
Legging- Knight
Boots- Soldier
x6 Beryl Orb
Weapons are Valkyrie.
Back is PVT, and the rest is Knight. All with Exquisite Beryl Jewel.

Once it hits 50% again, it will auto-repair. That’s with gates atleast.
Heavens Rage
Ya Svanir runes are legit, still one of my favs. Use your virtues to heal up when you are Invulnerability. Then you can combo into Shelter or Renewed Focus.
Heavens Rage
double post.
Heavens Rage
The only downside I see is you have no way to heal yourself besides your healing skill. If I made a burn build it would look something like: 10/10/30/0/20.
Zeal: Fiery Wrath
Radiance: Shimmering Defense
Valor: Defender’s Flame, Meditation Mastery, Monk’s Focus
Virtues: Master of Consecrations and Supreme Justice
Healing skill: Shelter (Burn when blocking)
For utilities:
Judge’s Intervention
Smite Condition
Purging Flames
Weapons: Greatsword and mace/torch.
This is just me. Your build would work fine too.

Hi everyone,
I just created a guardian and made it to 80.
My armor set is Power/Toughness/Vitality with superior rune of soldiers.
My Trinkets are a mix of emerald knight and ruby berzerker.
My attributes:
Power 1,950
Precision 1,412
Tougness 1,561
Vitality 1,505Attack 3,050
Critical Chance 28%
Armor 2,772
Vitality 16,695I gonna use my guardian for dungeons and WvW, I’m curious if this is good enough? Have i add too much on some of the attributes or add too little for the rest? For example, guardian is a class with low base health, is 16,695 good enough? And i read it somewhere that most guardian has 2,900 armor and above, should i reduce on my attack and add more armor? Is my precision of 1,412 too low? Hope to get some useful opinions, thanks!
For most people, 15k hp is the sweet spot. With atleast 3000 armor and crit around ~40%, this is mainly for a dps role. By the looks of your stats that’s what you are going for.
I recommend Soldier, Knight, and Valkyrie to achieve this. This is my current build right now with 69 crit dmg. Keep in mind I’m using food/oil. If you want me to go more in depth with my gear just ask.

I actually had a really good time tonight, both on Kain and ET bl.
A lot of good fights, and ninjas.
Heavens Rage
I’m actually curious on how you reached those numbers. Doesn’t seem possible without food/oil. If you don’t mind telling us.
I was able to get this with crit 69, but I’m using food/oil/bane.
Heavens Rage
He doesn’t need more Vitality. It’s obvious he’s going for a dps role. He has almost 16k hp which is more then enough. I don’t know why people think Guardians need this crazy health pool from, there’s a reason they have the lowest base health.
Good crit, dmg, and a nice amount of toughness. Your stats are fine. They are actually better then most of the glass cannon dps Guardians running around.
Heavens Rage
My retaliation build is very solid. 3k attack/armor with +16k hp. Also add 40% crit chance with 69 crit dmg. My retaliation hits people for around 400 dmg, add the amount of dmg I’m already putting out. Plus my survivability, it’s more then a gimmick.
Love stacking close to a minute of retaliation. I can pretty much keep it up indefinitely.
What’s your opportunity cost in comparison to a build where you didn’t focus on Retaliation but kept the rest of that build?
Not that much tbh. If I focus on Honor I get 18k hp, but I find 15k hp is more then enough. Specing Radiance only gives me around 10% more crit, so again not a big deal. Then I’m already doing a lot of dmg, so I’m not worried with Zeal.
I know Retaliation got hit with the nerf bat really hard, but it’s still a viable build.

So I’m going through my mail. It’s the typical stuff bills, bills, credit card offers, bills, junk, and etc. You guys get the point, but then I find plain envelope from Anet. I’m like what could this be?
So I open it and it’s a card. Wishing me happy holidays signed by the Anet staff. This is the first time any company let alone a video game company, I’ve seen do this. So thank you Anet! It may not seem like much, but it proves you actually care about player base.
So thank you again for a great game, and I wish you guys happy holidays.

A lot of traits you listed I use in my different builds. Here’s my two cents;
Zeal:
Revenge of the Fallen- Very situational. Buff to 100% more dmg. Guardian down skills don’t that much dmg in the first place.
Greatsword/Scepter Power- 5% more dmg. Don’t see anything wrong with this.
Wrathful Spirits- 10% more dmg. Again nothing bad about it.
Zealous Blade- Now my favorite one, it gets such a bad rap. Key here is you have to combined it with other forms of healing. ZB/AH/Omnomberry Pie. I actually made a build around this.
Radiance:
Healer’s Retribution- Good. I use it with my retaliation build.
Shimmering Defense- Last ditch to get dps out. Could use a shorter CD.
Inner Fire- This would be amazing if Zealot’s Flame proc it, but it doesn’t.
Searing Flames- Would be worth using if it trigged more. 10 seconds would be good.
Powerful Blades- 5% dmg. Like I said with the other, don’t see the problem.
Perfect Inscriptions- I find it decent if you run a Signet heavy build.
Valor:
Strength of the Fallen- Double it so 66% less damage.
Strength in Numbers- Good in WvW.
Mace of Justice- Same as the other 5%.
Glacial Heart- Needs a shorter CD to be viable. 15 or 20 second would be good.
Honor:
Wrathful Spirit- Decent to use with a retaliation build.
Pure of Heart- Good for support/bunker builds.
Battle Presence- This one is kinda weak. Maybe add Justice or Courage, but that could be op.
Pure of Voice- Good in WvW. Would be better if they fixed the bug.
Virtues:
Unscathed Contender- Sounds good, but meh overall.
Retaliatory Subconscious- Good for retaliation build.
Elite Focus- Not bad tomes at 30 seconds, and Renewed Focus for five.
Shielded Mind- This is actually pretty decent because it also breaks stuns on all allies in range.

Very nice!
Still waiting for a Infinite Light + The Flameseeker Prophecies.
That would be epic!

Guardians don’t really make good roamers, we are fairly slow compared to all the other classes, with next to no escape mechanics.
Yeah we have a couple of good utilities like Judges Intervention, but 90% of the time if someone wants to get away from you they can, and visa versa if you stumble into a zerg.
Heavens Rage
I’d be a ball of light most of the time then….
Most Guardians have multiple boons up all the time. Save Yourselves alone gives you seven boons.
Heavens Rage
(edited by Harbinger.8637)
I found it fairly simple. I died a couple of times on the snowflakes in the beginning. Poor jumping on my part, but once I got pass that. I made it all the way.
Heavens Rage
Yup, WvW titles are stupid. Hopefully they fix them in the big Feb patch.
250,000 kills? lol really, I could see maybe 100,000.
Heavens Rage
For Guardian your range is meh, and you’re slow with no real escape mechanics. Other then that it’s great. Good dmg and great survivability.
Heavens Rage
I personally think ~40% crit rate is more then enough, but ofc the higher the better.
Heavens Rage
I’m having a good time still. Last night we took a tower up north in Kain’s BL. Wasn’t the smartest idea, fun though. It was like kicking a beehive. lol
Heavens Rage
where the heck do i gt soldier gear of?
and btw i use ruby orbs = more bang for the bucks.. and a assassin back wich berserker jewel so i dont understand why i only have 62% crit dmg and u have 68% and i uses 3 piece of valkyre and 3 of knights with valk weapons and knights jewelry
how much crit dmg d0o u have now with this build?
The temples’ Karma armor is PVT, but you have to mix it. Also all WvW invader gear is PVT. I also heard some dungeon armor is PVT, but I don’t do them that often so I don’t know which ones exactly .
For crit dmg I still have 69 if I use my Knight trinkets, then 86 with my Berserker ones. I’ve started to use bowl of curry butternut squash soup though (+100 precision +10% critical damage) So it’s 79 and 96.
Heavens Rage
Sometimes I wish I’d rolled a Warrior. I see some down people in literally two seconds. Even on my Guardian with a 96 crit dmg and +3000 attack can’t do that, but the thing is my survivability is great. Jump into a middle of a zerg down some people and still get away. So I can’t really complain.
Both classes have their strength and weakness. It just comes down to your play style more then anything.
Heavens Rage
Harbinger what gear and build are u using? i have similar stats as u with a 0 5 30 30 5 build but with arround 100 less toughness and 6% less crit dmg
i mean the pic with arround 3.2k armor i only have 3k and ofc buffed to with oil wich gives prec and the omnom cake.. wich fire sigill on GS and on hammer i use the one wich gives u life
Armor is four pieces of Solider and two of Knight.
Weapon is Valkyrie.
When it comes to my trinkets for the top picture. My back piece is PVT w/Exquisite Beryl Jewel, and the rest is Berserker w/Exquisite Beryl Jewel. Bottom picture is Knight w/Exquisite Beryl Jewel.
Runes are x6 Divinity, so that where I’m probably getting more crit from. I don’t really remember the build for the screens. I change them a lot, depending on how I feel.
Edit: Actually I’m specd 0/5/30/30/5 right now, and this is how it looks unbuff.

Kiting can be annoying for a Guardian, but you have a number of good tools to deal with it. The best is probably the hammer, you can use Zealot’s Embrace and follow with Ring of Warding. Also you have the greatsword which has a leap and pull. The sword also has teleport.
Utilities you have Judge’s intervention which is a teleport and damage. You can also use Signets. Bane can be used as a knock down, and Wrath has a immobilize.
Heavens Rage
So on the EB, I capped the supply camp then turn to Langor. Killed all the guards ran supply to build a ram while killing all the respawning guards. Finally get the gate down and people show up, so I’m like cool. We take Langor, then I suggest we go for Quentin.
They where like no we don’t want to spread forces thin. So I’m like whatever, take down a reinforced gate while dealing with guards and annoying Kains. Guess what? Nobody came to help, even when I was like the gate is down I could use some help.
No they just sat in Langor waiting for upgrades on an attack that never came. Really wish I could solo the tower champs.
This is why I avoid EB and stick to BLs.

Some people take this way too seriously. You act like you’re in an actual battle fighting for your lives. Guess what happens when you die, nothing. You just turn off your pc and go on with your life.
It’s a game chill out.
Heavens Rage
Speaking of dyes does Redemption dye exist?

When hit by a catapult, players are instantly downed(not just knocked down).
When hit by a trebuchet, players are killed instantly(no downed state).
So if you are hit by a Golem do you get kicked from the game?
Heavens Rage
The sword has better single target burst, while the GS is more AoE. Zealot’s Defense also blocks ranged attacks.
Also it’s possible to get to 20 stacks of might alone with the right traits, runes, and sigils. Shelter w/Might of the Protector alone can get you +10 if you use it at the right time.

Been using the Sylvari T3, it’s ok. Problem I have with it, it’s small. You want hammers to be big imo.
Heavens Rage
So I think I finally found the perfect stats for me. It doesn’t look that impressive, but I have 86 crit dmg. So when I use the right food and oil, I get my crit rate to 40% and also gain 100 toughness. Finally have it where I can instagib most people and still have survivability. Still have to get Ascended gear, but that’s just like +2 so I’m not worried about it.
I was also able to achieve this, but with only 69 crit dmg. This is probably the safer build to go.
Heavens Rage

Hmm never had a problem with it proc. You can also use Sigil of Chilling on your Hammer so you get a 60% Frozen duration.
Heavens Rage
From what I played, my Mesmer is great at it.
My Guardian not so much. Worst escape mechanics. So if you get in a fight over your head or run into a zerg. It’s fight or die. With you dead most of the time.
Heavens Rage
I never had a problem with you Ramen, don’t let the trolls get you down.
Haters gonna hate.

Can’t wait to get back to Ferg. Left for a bit because there was a lot of PvE stuff I couldn’t get done because of the pop. Also playing WvW on a much larger server made me realize how bad my build was, and how to improve myself.
Heavens Rage
Glacial Heart is pretty meh, so it got me thinking of a build I could make that revolves around it. Came up with this. So let’s go over the build;
Weapons:
Hammer (Sigil of Hydromancy) Freeze nearby foes for 3 seconds when you swap to this weapon while in combat.
Greatsword (Sigil of Ice) 30% crit inflict Chill.
Runes, you have two to choose from. More offensive players can op for Ice and defensive can use Svanir. Here are the bonuses so you can see. You can also mix them to get a higher frozen duration. So three Ice and three Svanir. Or four Ice and two Svanir.
ICE
(1): +25 Vitality
(2): +20% frozen duration
(3): +50 Vitality
(4): 5% chance to freeze all nearby foes when hit.
(5): +90 Vitality
(6): +5% Damage damage against frozen foes.
SVANIR
(1): +25 Toughness
(2): +20% Frozen Duration
(3): +50 Toughness
(4): -50% Frozen Duration
(5): +90 Toughness
(6): Become a block of ice for 5 seconds when you fall below 20% health.
Traits: 0/10/30/25/5
Blind Exposure
Purity
Glacial Heart
Altruistic Healing
Superior Aria
Two-Handed Mastery
As for gear I’d recommend knight and berserker so you can crit more, and food go for Bowl of Truffle Ravioli. (100 tough/70 prec)
Fun build, nothing too serious. I just wanted to make Glacial Heart useful.
Heavens Rage

I’d recommend switching out the staff with the greatsword, just because how Leap of Faith is working atm. It multiples vulnerability for every person that gets blind. So if you jump into a group of five people, they each get 15 stacks of vulnerability.
Don’t know if this is a bug, but Anet been quiet about it.
Heavens Rage
Some sets are just better for other profs. It’s all about finding the right one for you.
+1
Using Rune of the Pack for my Guardian, and I won’t change it for anything.

I’ve tried things like this before during a breach. Line of Warding>Sanctuary>Tome of Wrath>Judgment
Doesn’t work 90% of the time. Most people have stability and just blow through all your lines and bubbles.
