Disabling the “Melee attack assist” option in your settings, which prevents your character from moving into the hitbox of enemies, will allow you to use this skill from the inside of an enemy, hitting with both the melee attack and the projectiles resulting in a substantial increase in total damage to the target.

Works very well.

Power helps you hit harder. Toughness wouldn’t be bad if you use Retributive Armor (live longer and crit more).

Just no for condition. Hammer attacks are too slow for your burns.

Best stats for hammer imo, is Knight. (Power,Prec,Tough)

GS does more dmg, but hammer has a lot more CCs.

I use both. Great weapons.

Tier 8 is fine. Always fights going on. Far from being a ghost town, and it’s fairly well balanced.

I started that way, pretty much crafted all the best looking exotics:

Whisperblade
The Anomaly
Volcanus
Wall of the Mist
Immobulus
Illusion

But now I have Sunrise, which blows them all away. Just need to work on Infinite Light and Mjolnir…..ugh

Finally I knew I could do it.

Crit rate 41% and crit dmg 70
+18k hp

Runes I’ve personally tried before in WvW.

Balthazar- This was pretty good for a burn build, 5s of haste is really nice too.

Pack- Really nice. Precision and Power with boons.

Earth- Not bad for a tank build. Helps keep up protection.

Svanir- Saved my life countless times.

Soldier- Great for shout builds.

Rage- Good for dps builds.

Divinity- Currently using. Best runes overall, but expensive.

I tried others, but these are the ones I spent the most time with.

That was fun and really frustrating at the same time. It’s always nice to run into a good guild, but at the same time I wanted to throw my PC out the window……lol

Oh well just means I need to get better. Back to the drawing board.

So I’m still playing around with my stats, decided to dump the Runes of Soldier for Runes of Divinity. Yes I lose removing condition with my shouts, but I’m still using Pure of Voice. So I just remove one condition instead of two. Lost some of vitality, but I gained everything else. The big thing was I got my crit dmg from 48 to 60!

I’m a little more vulnerable to conditions, but I think it’s worth it.

Then I also have this Berserker set with 41% crit and 78 crit dmg.

Problem is I don’t know which one to run…

I was wondering this too. Have Sigil of Strength on my Sunrise. I’d rather use something else.

This is what fixed the code 7 issue for me way back in october..
Create a shortcut for guild wars 2, under properties you have a box called “Target” or “goal” or something similiar, it should be pointing towards your GW2.exe file.
Change this:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\GW2\Gw2.exe”
To this:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\GW2\Gw2.exe” /clientport 80

So simply add /clientport 80 at the end, best of luck!

16hp is more then enough, I’d say go for the crit dmg. My hp is bit overkill, it gets over 22k hp with WvW bonuses, but I tend to jump into the middle of zergs, and bad situations. So the more the better for me.

10% crit dmg or 5k hp. Depends on your play style tbh. What’s your current Crit dmg and hp?

Well your stats aren’t bad, but there I something I recommenced you to change.

First lets go over your utilities, you are running a AH shout build because of AH and your runes of soldier, so get Sanctuary out of here. TBH it’s not that great of an ability in PvP or WvW. Long CD and doesn’t last long, plus if they stability people can blow right through it. I recommend you use another shout, Smite Condition or Judge’s Intervention.

Next the important part is your gear, the reason your dmg is low because you have little crit dmg I see. You have the base from Valor, so 30 crit dmg. So less then 30% crit rate and 30 crit dmg, that’s why you’re not hitting hard. You need mix in some pieces of Berserker or Valkyrie.

I have similar stats to you. My dmg is good, not as high as a glass cannon build, but still good. Then my survivability is amazing. I run 0/5/30/30/5. Here’s my stats, keep in mind my crit dmg is at 50, with this build. I can also get it to 65 if I lose some toughness and use my berserker trinkets.

The reason people always put 30 into Valor because it’s pretty much the best trait line for Guardians. First off it gives you toughness and crit dmg. So your survivability and dmg go up. AH and Monk, you need some type of healing other then your healing skill imo. Might of the Protector w/Shelter can get you +15 stacks of might if you time it right.

There are so many good traits it’s ridiculous.

Guardians are op! No, but seriously the more I play the more I realize how balanced the game is. Sure there are some tweaks that need to be made to certain abilities and builds. But overall there’s nothing that screams op and breaks the game.

You would love Guardian, your play style sound similar to mine. Guardians are easily the best zerg buster in the game. I can’t count how many times I’ve been able to rout enemy players. Yes, it’s true that your dps won’t be as high as a Warrior, but it’s far from mediocre. Plus you gain amazing survivability.

In my +500 hours on my Guardian the only thing I’ve really discovered is you need 30 in Valor competitive. Other then that you can put traits where ever you want, to fit your playstyle. (Yes I know there are a lot of good players that don’t use Valor, but I’m talking about the majority here)

Sunrise is Soldier my mistake with a Sigil of Strength. I don’t mess with it because I don’t want to ruin the legendary status of it.

I also have this set. I give up toughness for more power, crit rate, and a nice 65 crit dmg. My hp is still high so giving up the toughness is not really a huge problem.

I’m bumping this because I’m having a lot of DCs. It only happens in WvW. Chat still goes and everyone else is fine, but I can’t use any of my abilities. All I can do is run around. Eventually it kicks me and I just log in again and everything is fine.

I know it’s not a connection issue because PvE works fine and every other thing I do on the internet works (stream videos, play games, surf, and etc)

It only happens in WvW.

I actually fixed most of the problem. I put Sigil of Perception on my hammer, with 25 stacks my crit rate goes to 42%. It’s pretty easy to get 25 stacks in WvW, just kill some deer and npcs real quick. There’s not much I can do about the 48 crit dmg though.

My gear is really mixed so I could still get a decent crit rate and dmg

Helm- Knight

Chest- Soldier

Just recently got Sunrise(love it <3), and was thinking about Eternity. Then I was like it’s pointless. As Shizzlenit said you could just swap out the two when ever you feel like it. Then there’s no footsteps on top of it….

Eternity is the ultimate legendary. Yet it is inferior to both Sunrise and Twilight.

I do agree that a perma run speed wouldn’t be a good choice. That’s one of the counters to a Guardian. You have to kite to beat a Guardian, no class but another Guard or a well played Warrior can stand toe to toe in a melee fight. So speed imo would be op.

The main argument here is how little +90 condition damage does. It’s pointless. I have yet to see anyone make a viable condition dmg build for PvP.

Every server does it, don’t know why people complain about PvP in a PvP zone. I’ve been killed countless times in JPs, but it doesn’t bother me. There are player activated traps, and hazards. It’s obvious Anet wants people to fight in them.

I’m not going to let you get free siege without a fight.

You can’t get perma, but you can stack boon duration and use certain runes(Rune of Speed). Also use the staff with Retreat and Save Yourselves.

This thread needs a bump so…. Here’s some terrible Guardian gameplay from SM today. Quick vid I threw together for a build thread in the Guardian forum, so I’ll post it here too.

Also this match up is the funniest I had in some time. A lot of good players out there.

Sword mainly benefits from Radiance;

Blind Exposure: Applying blind also applies vulnerability.
Powerful Blades: Sword and spear damage is increased by 5%.
Right-Hand Strength: Critical-hit chance with one-handed weapons is increased by 15%.

Shield only has one in Valor, but it’s pretty decent if you use it a lot.

Honorable Shield: Gain +90 Toughness when wielding a shield and reduce the cooldown on Shield skills by 20%.

Plate of Orrian Steak Frittes: +100 power/ +70 vit

This is what I use for my tanky/dps build. 0/5/30/30/5, with Greatsword and Hammer.

Running x6 Runes of Soldier and Pure of Voice because I use all shouts, so condition dmg is not a problem. Gear is a lot of different things. Knight, Valkyrie, and Soldier. Still keeping 30% crit rate with 48 crit dmg.

Been working on achieving the “perfect” stats. Think I’m maxed out, can’t really do much else with out sacrificing crit rate(30) and crit dmg(48). If anyone has suggestions? I’d love to hear them.

I don’t see what the big deal is. Maybe if there was a zerg of Rangers all with guard……lol

Mace/Focus is probably the best. Two blocks, a lot of heals, and a blind.

I don’t have a problem with the active, that can stay the same. The passive is just lol…

I just don’t understand what Anet was thinking when they made this Signet.

This has been bugging me for awhile now. Every other Signet has a niche it fills with different builds.

Then you have Wrath. Grants you increased condition damage… Seriously Anet, Guardians have ONE reliable condition damage, Burning. Why would you make a Signet for that?!

I propose you change it to, improves critical chance. Or something else if you guys have a better idea.

Never had a problem with the staff. It crits for over 1k with my build. Which is decent for a spamming AoE range attack. Orb of Light is a bit hit or miss. Symbol of Swiftness does exactly was it’s suppose to. Empower is amazing.

I agree with Heinel, casting Line of Warding while moving would be nice.

Yeah sure it’s still more for support, but it does decent dmg with the right build.

Can’t wait for the reset. Should be neck and neck this week. Fun fun fun.

Nice stats, don’t you run a mix of knights and soldier’s gear? What is that buff next to the tool icon buff?

I use Knight, Soldier, and Valkyrie. Also that’s not a buff, just commander icon.

You’re going for a dps build I’m guessing. For me a mixture of Valkyrie and Knight is the best.

Valkyrie will give you Vitality and crit dmg, and you can use Knight to make up for toughness.

Probably need more Knight then Valkyrie though so you can make up for nothing in Valor.

The tick starts when you equip them. Timer is always up. You could get 10 stacks of Bleeds, and the next second it is gone. That’s because the timer was at 9 seconds when you got the condition.

It’s never ending. As far as I know.

I use Abyss and Redemption. Goes well with my Volcanus.

It’s already at 48 when traited. If I need swiftness, I just bust out the staff.

Great match up so far, very dynamic. A lot of great fights.

For PvE, that build looks fine. Wouldn’t bother with PvP though…

Only thing I got is why not put 5 into Virtues? So you get Inspired Virtue. That’s just more boons for you and your allies. I think that’s worth sacrificing Signet Mastery for. Since you are AH.
