So........mesmer pve complains....do they really only apply to Orr farming?

For trash mobs, mesmers kill them slightly slower than other classes.
However, when it comes to veterans or higher, especially bosses, I don’t know any other class that can do more damage than a mesmer.
I usually do up to 60k every several seconds (few secs before Arenanet nerfed them EDIT: TWICE! And people think our DPS is horrible yet Arenanet nerfs them… >.>) with my warlocks!
Mesmers aren’t a burst class like a thief or warrior, they need time to build up DPS.
Once they are there, I don’t know if thieves or warriors can DPS more than them.

I just realised I am going to miss getting ~60 badges a day from jumping puzzles.
Day 1
Do jumping puzzles on all 4 maps
Find and join a dominant server
Do jumping puzzles on all 4 maps
BONUS: New build available, do jumping puzzles on all 4 maps again! xD
Day 2
Repeat
snifflez
Sooo many mixed opinions, some people want to transfer within a day, some every 7 days, some every 28 days… I can only imagine how tough for Arenanet making changes to a game would be…
I guess you just hope that MOST people would be happy.
Then again, on the forums, the minority cry out the loudest!
Look! Hidden footprints! :P
Ya I had a look too, the runes do not say anything unlike the armor.
Considering there is information along the lines on items already in the game such as ‘Soulbound on acquire’, ‘Soulbound on use’, or nothing at all like white items but you can trade freely as a result, it is reasonable to conclude, particular based on the latter point, that the dungeon vendor runes are freely tradeable…
I’m a bit baffled by Arenanet’s response… I have a feeling they did not read the customer’s request clearly or took efforts to verify that it was not clearly Arenanet’s fault. At the very least, it is INDIRECTLY their fault – i would definitely agree on that.
At least i know not to buy dungeon vendor runes! :O
“The MOA Elite is a sign of a truly skilled Mesmer.”
Not sure if being sarcastic but honestly that is one of the best, if not the best, skills as a Mesmer if you are duoing an opponent.
I can probably talk about it now because every within 3 sec I kill you thief seems to be doing it now, but previously against such thieves, the moa skill was the only way I could kill them until they started cloaking while in Moa bird form…
Or are they logging out now whenever I use it? O_o
Given a dusk can sell for 400 gold, I think I would rather have that and the capacity to buy gems, and all the goodies I can get with gems including my storage space, or a range of other goods on the trading post.
The possibilities are endless! Think of what you may be able to buy in the gem store in the future!
Also, given gems are getting more valuable, you could invest in them and sell when they are high, and buy more when the prices are low. You could make sooo much gold and live off the interest!
This, compared with getting a skin for a weapon, makes it a no-brainer for me!
I think having PvE zones from lvls 1 to 70 shared between multiple servers is a good idea.
Regarding the lack of people in zones currently, i think it is because of two points:
1) You only have to do a heart quest or complete a map /zone ONCE. After that, there is no point coming back.
2) There are TOO MANY zones in the game so everyone is spread out. Thus, there needs to be basically one zone for a level range, not like 5+ zones for lvls 1-15.
It is better at 80 because there is only a few lvl 80 zones for people to PvE in so you tend to see more players
Wow I gotta try this! At least for the challenge of getting past campers!
Maybe, as a mesmer, I can make a portal behind the campers and invite my “friends” to the party for some fun!
P.S. Very creative what you did after the puzzle and logging out.
But 34 campers aren’t too happy about your video…

I don’t see how removing the crossing swords would solve the zerg issue, people would just communicate where to go, and the other team if they notice the other type of crossing swords (white one) on the map would go there and defend.
It will still be zerg vs zerg? O_o
I’d imagine there would be more communication but zergs will still be there…
Having said that, you may see less zergs vs zergs roaming around on the map, but there will be more at camps, towers, keeps where the white crossing swords will still show up.
9/10 easily!
The clock tower by far is one of the best experiences, if not the best, I have in GW2, even compared other MMOs like Aion and TERA in-game events.
From the endless drama of players struggling to finish the puzzle but also taking it in their stride, to the heart beating moments trying to finish the puzzle yourself with the constant threat of doom lurking over your shoulder, it was an experience to remember!
I wish other jumping puzzles were this exciting! :P
Exotic drops too!
What is ironic is you also missed my point
You just know somewhere in the world that there is at least one person who will find a flaw in anything and everything while ignoring the 95% of the good things…
Then again, I could say the same thing for majority of threads on these forums which do not present a balanced argument.
Of course, as the saying goes, you can’t please everyone…
Anet also knows people would be disappointmented, why point out the obvious?
(edited by HeeHee.5208)
hmm just once I got turned down as a mesmer, they told me they want something with heavy armor. Oh boy if I had silver for every warrior and guardian I had to ress I would be rich
edit: out of curiosity, how do you get your warlock to crit for 15k? My biggest crit is 9k with power build, when the mob had decent amount of conditions and about 10 stacks of vulnerability, I had both +15% dmg to phantasms and pretty much all traits for phantasm damage. Around 85% crit damage.
I have lvl 80 berserker gear and berserker accessories, rune of scholar x6, bloodlust, all the offensive traits for phantoms / illusions, except 20% recharge increase… probably other things I can ’t remember…
However, I’m thinking that should be enough, because I manage to crit 15k dmg with warlocks USING a power, precision, condition BLUE staff with only a minotaur steak buff… so I wouldn’t be surprised, if I had a much better % crit staff and food, of my warlocks critting for 20k dmg each OR MORE.
Such juicy dmg, 60k every several seconds, yum yum!
I’m a bit skeptical about the ‘permanent solution’ because not even WoW after 7-8 years has dealt with the botting / account security issues completely. It has made a lot of progress but no way is it close to being free from bots / account security issues.
Then again, it still has long maintenance and server queues which GW2 rarely has…
Mesmers can buff allies offensively (give might and fury, I think the best buffs in the game) and pull out 3 warlocks that each do 9k+ edit: up to 15k dmg every several seconds…
I doubt see how you should have problems finding groups! :O

Anet should say in the mean time use the following website to preview items:
1. GW2 spidy website
2. Scroll to bottom left of webpage and click on ‘armor’
3. Find item in question and click on it to open its webpage
4. Click on ‘link ingame’ found at the middle right side of the webpage.
5. Run GW2 and paste / ctrl V in chat
6. Press enter
7. Right click on name in chat and select ‘Preview’
Everyone needs to come back in 30 mins so I can download the files now and play…
There is no motivation to level – that’s the beauty of GW2.
You don’t feel the need to rush to the level cap so you can enjoy whatever you want to do and before you know it you will reach lvl 80!
Well a lot of WvW players from HoD and ET left last week or 2 weeks ago so it will only get worse I’d imagine…
I use to be on those servers so i know…
If people are not going to participate in WvW on various servers, I don’t see how a one-sided match can be avoided as long as one server like Blackgate is fully participating in it.
I actually like the trench coat look on my female thief, she looks sooo professional or classy, something I would wear in real life when I’m out Above all, it is not sleazy / kittenty like some, correction MOST, armor in TERA…
… … …
I think we can have grind to give an edge in PvE but definitely not in PvP.
After playing MMOs like Aion and TERA where they revolved heavily around gear progression in order to participate fairly in PvP (or even to do some PvE content like the harder dungeons as they often had DPS races), they were ultimately not fun over the longer term.
1. You may have great gear but 90% of the time you will PvP someone who has inferior gear so you basically steamroll that player without experiencing any notion of fun.
2. This is probably an extension of 1. but because PvP is heavily gear oriented, you don’t often get quality PvP encounters where players creatively use skills to win. Instead, I see some players (like me in Aion I admit) let their gear hand them victory without resorting to employing effort / skill in PvP.
3. Importantly, you can get gear to PvP but ultimately it is not quality PvP due to 1. and 2. because gear disparity made PvP so bland due to 1. and 2.; hence not as fun as GW2. This is why grinding for gear in order to PvP takes the fun out of it, and I am glad GW2 takes it out of the equation by design to embrace quality PvP which is fun!
4. Of course, there is also that stigma that if you win in PvP that it is because of your gear not your skill.
GW2 is like tennis. I dunno about you but I thoroughly enjoy watching matches where players have similar skill but importantly where they are forced to creatively outplay their opponent. Above all, players have similar “gear” too which is of course strictly regulated to promote fair play so what sets them apart is skill / experience and that makes tennis fun to watch.
Also, might be off topic but I’ve noticed too based on reading various threads about GW2 over the last couple of months, where it seems some people can’t play this game just for fun. If fun is not a good enough reason to play GW2, then maybe it is not the right game for you and you should try Aion, TERA or WoW where you can “work” for gear to PvP and PvE. I doubt Anet will introduce a gear treadmill for PvP because it will alienate people who just want to play GW2 for fun without feeling like a job. Then again it can reduce the quality of PvP as i have mentioned previously and I believe Anet wants to make it like an e-sport so I’d imagined it would want to promote fair PvP where skill, not gear, dictates success, and consequently spectators can watch close and exciting matches.
P.S. Maybe I will see a player creatively beat a thief that can kill him in 3 secs while being invisible unless Anet nerfs the class by then…
(edited by HeeHee.5208)
Although I agree entirely that thiefs need work, particulalrly HS spam and WvW rendering issues.
you will survive longer if you invest more in tough/vit. both through skillpoints and gear.
I am also a full exotic zerker glasscannon with 15k hp (not thief). But I can also melt stuff when left alone.
1/2 ltp
1/2 thief issuescase closed m’lud
I have to laugh at investing in vit/tough, even if you did that, i may not kill you in 3 secs but i’ll definitely kill you in 6 secs!
@ Ender’s ‘highest burst, highest mobility…’ post
Also can only be targeted for 0.5 sec within the 3 secs it takes to kill you!
Enjoy!
For me, the thief gives me the most problems as it can do 10K+ dmg in a single attack (haven’t seen any class that can do that) / can kill someone within 3 secs literally (again haven’t encountered any other class that can do that), and can not target at all the entire time (again haven’t come across other classes like that).
Mesmers, once you know how their strengths and weaknesses, are rather easy to counter. If you are struggling, think of what is giving them their edge and then you should be able fight them without any significant issues.
Of course, for mesmers too, they can never kill me within 3 secs and I can target them without any issues unless they cloak which can only be for 5 secs max unlike a thief which is like seriously more than 30 secs??? O_o
Oh and I can outrun mesmers but not thieves!
As someone who has completed dungeons with all one class, I beg to differ Ironangel.
Compared to other MMO forums like SWTOR, Aion, TERA and WoW, I’m noticing a lot of positivity, which is REALLY REALLY REALLY unusual.
Having said that, some people may think GW2 forums are negative but they are ignorant of / forget how worse other MMO forums are.
The worse i’ve seen was in SWTOR forums where once there was literally a FULL page of negative threads, there was so much QQ that it was entertaining! :P
I agree – GW2 is much more enjoyable if you don’t play more than 3 hours, which is still a lot (that is most, if not all, of the morning on any given day!), or you live a balanced life. It is casual friendly or hardcore unfriendly.
Also, I notice some people who are bored haven’t done everything in the game like 100% world completion or other stuff, but importantly, they say they don’t enjoy those aspects yet on the same note demand Anet cater to their needs. I think not only should they find something else to do as there are sooo many games one can play nowadays, let alone other hobbies one can pursue, but perhaps, realise GW2 is not for them.
I digress, what really stumps me are people who say they uninstall a game or stop playing it yet in essence waste their time on game forums by “discussing”, well more often trolling, because they are willing to sacrifice time in real life over effectively nothing tangible which could be gained by trolling. It is profoundly tragic.
Back on topic, how do you know if you are addicted?
When you feel you “have to” “achieve” something in the game like grinding for gear in a traditional MMO as oppossed to having fun.
Some people seem to treat, at least try to, MMOs as a “second job” which I think is ridiculous but I genuinely believe it does happen.
I’m not saying grinding gear is not fun, and if it is then do it, but always have fun before the urge to treat MMOs like a job. Having said that, there are some people who literally “force” themselves to do something in an MMO, which importantly they don’t enjoy, or they feel “they have to do it”. This tells me you are addicted and need to reassess your priorities.

Yes that is exactly my problem!
Glad a fix is on the way, albeit later than expected according to https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Annoying-Sound-Bug.
Thanks!
Re: continuous high pitch noise during intense raids

Sometimes, when I am in the middle of a busy raid, my computer will visibly “chug along”, where by this stage, sound from the game changes into a regular high pitch noise that does not stop unless I completely exit from GW2 or it crashes. Often it crashes, and I think the noise serves as a warning.
However, now when i hear it, I quickly turn down my graphic settings to the lowest option to avoid crashing, but my issue is that the high pitch noise continues.
Once the noise starts, does anyone how to change the sound back to the normal GW2 sound and music without exiting GW2?
It’s annoying having to leave WvW and come back to a queue because of it! >.<
Thx in advance!
I don’t think most people can finish the game FULLY.
Every achievement, every personal story for EACH race, every crafting profession maxed out etc… impossible for me… there will be races and classes which I simply won’t have time to play till lvl 80 ever! >.<
Getting lvl 80 = not finishing the game, it is not even halfway…
In other MMos like Aion and TERA you can actually finish most of the content by lvling to the cap because there is only one path that everyone follows to completing it e.g. all characters go through the same zones, same instances without different “paths”, some campaign / story.
However, in GW2, you have so many options, you can do some zones and not others, or choose a different path for instances instead of running the same instance again and again and again.
The problem I have with GW2 is I will probably never see all the content it has to offer, even all the event possibilities for EVERY EVENT.
>.<
EDIT: On stories, I think Anet needs to make them interesting as they are too predictable with little intellectual stimulation. Quality over quantity for stories next time please! :P
