Admittedly, I enjoy reading how thieves in the thief forum are desperately trying to stop stealth, dmg nerfs via L2P comments, and how Anet had to create an entire thread and basically say “Ok, we know thief is broken, how do we fix it?” (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/The-thief-and-its-gameplay-Your-feedback)
Then again, suggest a nerf on any class forum, and you see a lot of people coming in and saying “NO! we got nerfed already! Guuu away!” :P
Entertaining but thief forum is sooo much better!
Something interesting I noticed and has worked 100% of the time, not exaggerating at all, but if you are combat locked, move (this is will be subjective) as far as you can from where the mobs originally started to attack / follow you.
Best way to know if you are far enough is if you notice your HP is regenerating quickly / moving faster / can change your skills / out of combat.
First, Anet stops online sales of GW2 near the start of launch for players.
Second, Anet willing to give a refund on a purchase over 180 days old while Blizzard refuses to give refunds (Diablo 3) to the extent that the South Korean? government intervened and fined it.
Good on Anet!
Over the next few days, as per the cycle, ALL servers will have their population adjusted to ‘High’ so you should be able to transfer to Tarnished Coasst then.
EDIT: Having said that, I think Tarnished Coast is popular so when it is available you better transfer ASAP or it will become ‘Full’ quickly again.

I hear there is no difference in loot from 20 onwards, that’s why a lot of people don’t bother going to like 60.
Anet may need to provide an incentive other than a challenge for going beyond 20 to get more people to continue.
The problem Im having with leap is that even if your clone has moved a bit to chase a target, using swap after causes you to appear around the area your clone initially ‘lands’ when summoned.
OMG that happens to me too, the clone leaps and chases the target, then when I ‘swap’ it puts where the clone landed instead of where it is now… I’m like “Why am I back here? >.<”
And as Surbrus points out, you basically have to stun / knockdown / use swap on a non-moving target and wait for no reason other than to hopefully avoid it bugging out, but again, at least for me, it doesn’t work reliably in this case too…
Glad I’m not the only once noticing how unreliable it is!
As a mesmer in the ice fractal, at the part where you destroy the blizzard machine, summoned illusions targetting the machine only shoot once after being summoned, and do not continue to fire.
It seems since the last update that often whenever after I use illusionary leap on a target, and then quickly use ‘Swap’, I find that the target is not immobilized at all, and can dodge / basically continue moving, anyone else experiencing this?
Having said that if I use ‘Swap’ on a non-moving target it seems to work, but for a moving target it is hit and miss. Perhaps the range of the ‘Swap’ effect is too small and needs to increase.
On that matter, I think we should be able to use illusionary leap at 900 range as oppossed to 600 range which I feel is too short where instead you could simply roll to the target and melee them, that is how short 600 is. Also, A warrior’s charge has a range of 1200 and bull rush has a range of 900 and knockdowns the target for 2 secs. Of course, as a ranged and light armored class, a mesmer is taking a significant risk getting so close to an enemy.
But if I had to fix one thing it would be for ‘Swap’ to work properly and immobilize a moving target consistently. After all, the clone is literally next to the target yet after using ‘Swap’ the target still moves…
Any thoughts?
I have to agree the radius is fine as it is because players that are close enough to be pulled are close enough to be attacked by a 900 range weapon which is small compared to a greatsword of 1200 range.
Basically, if you get pulled by the temporal curtain, you must be within the attack range of any ranged class and that’s fair. EDIT: tested it, 1200 range for pulling when placing the curtain at 900 (maximum distance)
Also, if it is any smaller you may as well blink and then melee your enemies because you are really that close.
However, I am happy to trade off the pull range of temporal curtain by being able to place it as far as the standard attack range of a greatsword or most ranged weapons of 1200 instead of ~900 as it is currently.

Thou shall not take supply from towers, keeps, stonemist if upgrades are occurring
Thou shall use supplies at towers, keeps, stonemist to build siege equipment when under siege, but above all, thou shall deplete supplies before enemies capture them.
Thou shall build a trebuchet to counter catapults destroying gates and walls, and not sit inside towers, keeps, stonemist watching the catapults in action or auto-attacking enemies next to the walls…
Thou shall not repair walls with <20% HP unless the enemies’ catapults and trebuchets are destroyed
Thou, as a mesmer, shall turn every thief into a Moa bird that prevents capture of a supply camp, and then dance to celebrate the precious time you have saved yourself…
EDIT: Thou, as a mesmer, shall turn every thief that is constantly stealthing into a Moa bird because thou hates playing hide and seek…

I agree with vince. It sounds like your looking for stuff that might be in your “traditional” mmo aka another game.
And why people need to do their research before buying the game, most of the points (except point 1) that the original poster makes could be found based on various review websites / youtube videos.
Also, if Anet implemented points such as reintroducing the tank / healer class, a lot of current players may be unhappy, more likely, pissed off too… such as with the ascended gear…
Jade Maw chest, not the daily one I believe.
I was in a group where someone got a fractal rifle… a unique and flashy skin!
I want the greatsword! :P
‘How is the game doing?’
I doubt you will get an objective / decent answer, instead I am certain you will get conjecture / speculation.
My two cents are Guild Wars 2 has been out for over 3 months, people have played it and moved on. Like any game, once they have finished it, they move on.
However, the fact is most MMOs out there (except WoW) initially have a peak of player activity upon release and over time there is less and less people.
You may ask why that is the case, and players will come up with various reasons but importantly they do so without solid evidence supporting their arguments. However, due to the fact that there are not as many people playing a particular MMO compared with when it was released, players can easily say in hindsight that it is because of THEIR REASONS when in fact it could be due to other reasons.
TL:DR No offence but it is futile to ask how is the game doing and why less people are playing it because it is only based on a player’s perspective out of millions who each will have different opinions on the matter, where they can only speculate on why 99.99% are not playing the game. However, because numbers have dropped, they can use that fact incorrectly to support any arguments they make.
dodge after you notice the casting animation for all classes.
There are actually many more counters to it depending on the class e.g. mist form for elementalist
Not necessarily, there is still RNG so even if you have full magic find gear, it doesn’t mean you will CONSISTENTLY get better loot. i.e. some days you will get nothing, other days rares are dropping everywhere.
Personally, on average over the longer term (month or more with it), I definitely get better loot.
If you use staff, scepter and torch, then condition is best.
If you use greatsword, sword, focus, pistol then crit dmg is better. Staff is appropriate here too if you use warlocks a lot.
You should have disconnected – that sounds like one of the worst groups ever! In particular, if it is the 1st and 2nd fractal because if the dungeon is 18+ they will probably struggle finishing it with 4 ppl…
Even the whole team suiciding is a better option than leaving one person behind, just remember to take off your gear!
Also, the dolphin area is not really inaccessible like in the cultist fractal, but Anet should make it that you cannot progress to the boss unless everyone is there for the jellyfish. Alternatively, one person could make it and the rest do as well but that is a lazy way to fix it.
I’ve seen some selfish people rush past others in the dolphin area even though the only reason they could get through was because of the others before them distracting the krait… It is like rushing past a place full of kraits, past a teammate who is getting beaten, and you don’t leave a decoy behind, or rez if needed on the way thru… so much for teamwork! >.>
(edited by HeeHee.5208)
Anet should allow you to purchase ascended gear via tokens as with gear from other dungeons atm.
Perhaps even include a small chance of it dropping too so ppl who hate RNG and ppl who (Aion and Wow which revolve around it for gear progression) adore it are both happy!
Usually towards the end of every week like Thursday / Friday / Saturday, the population cap for all servers are adjusted to ‘High’.
Then, from Sunday onwards popular servers get filled up to ‘Full’ again.
Then, the cycle repeats…
Wait for the next event!
Do these ratings mean anything?
I ask because you look at WoW such as the latest expansion and for user ratings they are horrible, GW2 almost doubles that of mists of pandas.
Then for critic reviews GW2 has universal acclaim while mists not as good as GW2 is still good.
Diablo 3 similar story as pandas.
Having said that, WoW has 10 million subscribers and Diablo 3 sold 10M+ and made records…
Meanwhile, GW2 with higher scores than WoW across the board doesn’t have 10 million players…
Personally, I take theses figures / ratings with a grain of salt, especially user scores…
The best advice is to not skip mobs, especially veterans on Ascalaon where i’ve gotten the most globs / vials. In fact, I think it is this fractal and the dolphin where I managed to get them.
Secondly, loot mobs! I think many players forget to loot “trash” mobs even though they drop them. I have yet to get a glob / vial from a boss or chest.
Oh with no magic find too!
If I get Moa off, and assuming it is “THE” glass cannon thief build, then they don’t stand a chance!
If I don’t get Moa off, RUN!
until Anet fixes the rendering issues or that you can’t stealth to the point where you can only be tab-targeted for 0.5 secs…
Apparently you can use it in the mystic forge but what does it give u? o_O
Not even google has the answer currently…
Oh and I got one at lvl 11!
Personally, it has been almost 3 months since GW2 was released, and I’ve seen most of the content in the game, except the new stuff like fractals so that’s why I don’t play as much as I use to.
Likewise, I expect a lot of players to be in a similar boat. Once you do practically everything in a game you move on to something else, even another game / hobby.
If there is new content, have a look at that, and then move on.
Makes me wonder though how WoW players can play the game for sooo long even though they are revisiting the same content again (they must be, they can’t be doing new content in the game everyday! O_o) and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again to ultimately make a powerful character until the expansion comes out, and then they do the new content all over again and again and again and again and again and again and again.
Fix the thief’s 0.5 secs of being targeted and rendering issues, then I will be happy to give up this skill.
Also, it is very effective at constantly stealthing thieves preventing a group from capturing a supply camp. Of course, again, that is not always easy to do as you have to target the thief via tab-targeting AND within the 0.5 secs window when it is possible!
I left cursed shore looong ago, maybe players are realizing there are other better places to farm.
frostgorge sound
&
fractals
Cursed shore doesn’t even have a dragon!
Not sure what “not supported” means exactly. Does that mean it isn’t allowed, or that ANet won’t enforce payment (essentially buyer beware)? This is a pretty important question, and I’d appreciate clarification.
It just means they are not responsible if you get scammed.
Yup, you trade at your own risk!
Stay alert and be smart! i.e. trade only with people you can trust
EDIT: Just noticed caveat emptor in Sirgleno’s post, yes, it is essentially that, except in this case it applies for the seller.
(edited by HeeHee.5208)
I am getting roughly 1-2 rares per fractal, I even got 2 of the same rares (Trident) from one chest so for me everything is normal.
Swamp is easy and a very short fractal; hence why I like it too.
At least as a mesmer where you can use your portal, teleport, then temporal curtain for speed buff.
If you have a second mesmer, then the fractal is a joke, just use two portals.
Of course, if it is your first time, then I can understand why it may be difficult because of the quickly appearing walls, traps, not knowing the best route to take.
However, once you know how to do it, trust me, it is arguably the best fractal as again it takes no time at all.
OMG you have to play WoW if you think animations are dull in GW2, i’m not saying that GW2 has the best animations, but relatively speaking, sooo many MMOs are worse.
Seriously, for anyone who plays WoW, how on earth can you stand the rigid and limited animations in it, even after 7 years?
They should have characters stand still and shout the abilities they are using because you can’t really tell based on the animation.
On topic, I think GW2 needs more abilities then we may see a greater variety in animations.
Gems for server transfers = lots of $$$$
I don’t think Anet judging by the gem shop’s offerings and the fact that server transfers are still free almost 3 months after release that it wants to milk its customers, which is somewhat odd… unlike WoW but let’s not go there! :P
Unfortunately this is pretty much MMO standard. Things are put into the game for the hard working, determined, fortunate and privelidged. And then at some random moment whenever the developer feels like it, those items either become obsolete or a huge amount more common making you wonder why you spent the time trying
I agree pretty much WoW in nutshell
Pretty much every MMO does this; hence why we should not have a gear treadmill where you only need to try once…
Back on topic!
I say wait till the next event, then again, I never actively farm in an MMO because it takes too much of my precious time… of course, luck plays a significant role in farming and it is boring as hell! _
Thus, I do whatever else I find enjoyable like WvW and fractals for the challenge! :P
One thing i have noticed while server hopping on WvW is
JQ – captures everything but defends nothing so save your siege equipment normally for defending!
Sea of Sorrows – PvE server early on but now dedicated to WvW, and spams siege equipment until it reaches the limit for the map. Captures with numbers and defends what they have first, even if it means stopping the attack on a tower, keep etc…
HoD awhile back – captures everything with sheer force and defends as much as possible. Longest queue times ever!
Eredon Terrace awhile back – coordination > medium server
I sure had my fun. Sad it ended so soon. Let Elementalists and Thieves reign supreme.
…and Necros, and Warriors, and Guardians.
Engineer grenades still rock at destroying siege equipment that no other class can touch like the highest cannons at stonemist!
Guess it’s time to start leveling that elementalist so I can be relevant in WvW :\
As long as Anet does not nerf the meteor shower I will continue to play elementalist!
I am not convinced yet based on a picture I saw where it was comparing an ascended ring to an inferior non-ascended one and WITHOUT the upgrade.
If I put an exquisite ruby jewel, which I can’t do on ascended gear, in non-ascended gear, and compare it with an INFUSED ascended gear where it activates additional in-built stats already in it, the overall stats between the two are very similar, only a marginal increase, not as big from rare to exotic with the gear we have currently in GW2.
This is why they should not nerf mesmer portals, you can easily counter the turtle tactic, especially because of the rendering issues
OMG Anet shoud sell the player a lemon, and then monitor him for his reaction!
I want to see it! :P
I think 3800 gold is very possible if you’ve been making dusks from the beginning, or you bought 5 dusks at 75 gold and have been reselling them.
I knew 70 gold for it was sooo cheap but I didn’t have enougn money atm, if i did, I would have bought a few to resell for more later… I could make 400+ gold each now…

‘Power creep’ forces players to to waste more time regearing so they can do content, and in other MMOs, particularly WoW, they force players again and again to regear so they can do more content. Honestly, developers could just keep doing do this, and eventually some players will be fed up because they “worked REALLY HARD” for the their gear 1st round, only to be made obsolete in the next major game update so now they have to waste more time to catch up just to do the new content.
In GW2, at the moment, you only need gear once, after that, it is OPTIONAL to grind for skins, and the only goal left is to have fun, which I am having, not mandatory grinds in WoW, Aion and basically every MMO out there where you need to do this 50x to access better gear to do more content like PvE or unbalanced PvP because not everyone can be bothered wasting time doing it.
I know some people view getting better weapons or armor via grinding i.e. a second job, worthwhile, but not everyone enjoys it, and as indicated in the first paragraph, it can become an endless cycle, and make PvP unbalanced (assuming you can use ascended gear in WvW) as generally when better gear comes out, you are widening the gap where eventually only the hardcore players who have a lot of time on their hands and happy using it to play a game will get the very best gear, and the rest of us who can’t or won’t commit that much time will be griefed by them with our sub par gear.
On the other hand, I know some people don’t have fun in GW2 after getting the best gear currently so if you wish to spend more time playing MMOs, I think WoW would be a suitable alternative as I am sure some people have grinded 7 years of their life to have a very powerful character. For them, I am sure they are happy and had fun, but some of us don’t want to do that and are glad that GW2 is casual friendly where you can have fun and do everything GW2 has to offer currently with the gear that you have.
Give people a different incentive other than grinding gear for better stats EDIT: to keep playing.
(edited by HeeHee.5208)
If anything more MMO forums need to merge threads unless they are significantly different.
In Aion, I must have wasted sooo many hours reading the same thing over and over again like manastone socketing etc…
Here, I can read all about it AND find all about a particular topic in one place, sooo much more organised!
Ianervan,
I am willing to accept ur challenge on Redbriar or Greenbriar. I will easily find a spot where you can’t touch me. I will even put down a siege weapon where no mesmer can actually hit it, yet I can hit them. e.g. arrow cart middle of the lord room at the highest point in the tower.
You exaggerate sooo much! -_-
EDIT: Touching on thieves, a berserker cannot kill someone from full health within 3 secs and can be targetted completely when it is up, and does not suffer from rendering issues.
(edited by HeeHee.5208)
You can cloak or move out of range etc…
But I know some people would rather stand there, or stand on the edge of a cliff and get pulled down by temporal curtain.
It would be an issue if you could not avoid it or counter it.
Who is actually complaining, the minority that do not move i.e. the same ppl who don’t move when they see a glowing red circle on the ground?
Time will tell if GW2 turns from a casual game to a hardcore “gear tread milling” elitist game! _
Me too, they can nerf time warp and portals, but leave at least or even better buff everything else!
That’s fair!
After this no more changes to Mesmers EVER plz! :P
Can Anet nerf warlocks for the 3rd time? :O
I have never gotten a Black Lion Key as a drop, but when GW2 was released I use to get them a lot from opening the chests, this was a few days after release, and since then do I rarely gets keys from Black Lion chests…
