I am posthing this as a new comment as well, to make sure that people read it.
NOW THAT A DAY HAS PASSED and I have read many reactions, I am editing the original post because I feel the need to explain why we keep on discussing a compensation and why we want it in the first place. It seems that many of the non affected players do not understand our reasons, so hopefully the text below will help them do so.
Firstly I must say that I am looking forward to the new changes and for playing the new levels with my friends. I am not going to voice opinions on the new difficulty until we actually try it. The reason why we keep this topic alive is because Anet presented all the new changes, but to this moment nothing was said about a possible compensation for players that had achieved a lot more than the average. Not a single developper has commented on the issue, which angers people and fuels their disappointment.
Another issue is that the non affected player base seems to gather us under the same bunch of “greedy elitist players that want rewards for exploiting the game”. The truth is that there are 3 groups of players affected negatively by the changes and all of them have a valid reason to be angry.
1) The ones that stopped at 50
It is a known fact that if you want tangible rewards you should do anything else but fractals. Yet they are the only place to get fractal skins and the higher the personal reward level – the higher the chance. Hence, many of us made sure to reach level 48 – the highest doable level with the current agony cap. The incentive was even bigger since here is the highest chance to get ascended boxes as well. Getting from lvl 30 to 50 is a hard task, especially if you are trying to do so without a dedicated team. It is also costly, as it requires infused backpieces, ascended weapons or a legendary. A reasonable compensation would be a double daily chest until their original level is re-reached, the same way it was done in WvW.
2) The ones that made it to 80
Some people did not stop at 50, and wanted to challenge themselves even more, search for the limit and find it at lvl 80. Up until now, the highest measure of skill in this game has been being able to solo Lupi or do fractals lvl 80. The most hardcore guilds use this as a requirement for recruitment. Sadly, what everyone who has never tried those levels focuses on is: they were not supposed to do it, they were exploiting. What they do not seem to see is that beating the agony at some final boss is the least important thing. At those levels the challenge lies in surving mobs that one shot you, with no room for error. Having to perfectly dodge every agony shot from the boss because no amount of AR can save you. Even the easiest fractal takes a lot of time and effort, so saying that being able to play lvl 80 is not an accomplishment is completely disrespectful to those players.
None of them did so for monetary rewards, they did so for personal challenge, for glory and because it is fun. Now that this is being taken away, they feel cheated. Not only because they have to level back from 30, this is easily done. But because there is no guarantee that this hard content will be accessible again. They do not want 5 gold per resetted level. What would make them happy will be a one time special skin, a title or maybe a unique mini, unobtainable in any other way. They just want something to show for their accomplishment.
3) The people with multiple characters on high levels
Lastly we have the players that chose to put themselves a second, or a third time, through the hard road of fractal leveling because they wanted to master another class. Not only a very time consuming task, but also challenging and costly. A second character had to be equipped with ascended trinkets and weapons and you had to know how to play it to be accepted in the lvl 48 groups. Getting double or tripple daily chests was never the reason behind this. It was the desire for variety, for self improvement and to able to play different party set ups. Having 2 or 3 characters able to do lvl 50 is a measure of deducation and skill. With the introduction of acount wide fractal level, this people’s achievement and hard work is taken away. Now everyone can do what took them months to accomplish. How can they be compensated? Maybe with an ascended chest with useful for them stats, or with another unique item.
I leave those suggestions for the developpers and hope that they will take some time to consider them. In the end it is a way to show appreciation for their most dedicated players who spend hours pushing the limits and keeping the game alive.

You already had your refund, as you could receive the daily chests for all that time on two characters instead of one.
There might be a tiny amount of people that made fractals alts to farm the high levels for several daily chests, but the majoity of us did so for completely different reasons. We wanted a new challenge, we wanted to master another class, we wanted to be able to offer our team a different set up and still be able to pull our weight. The daily chest was the last thing on our minds.
Comments like yours, and the person’s above you (the one that is laughing now) just prove that many people have no idea how much effort and dedication it takes to make it to the levels that are being reset now.
At least give us high level fractal folk the respect we deserve. We don’t need more rewards (at least I don’t). But, give us a unique title…or make all new fractal weapons (or old ones) glow a different color (like they did with SAB). Make our back pieces glow differently depending on how high you were in previous fractals (red for 40+, Black for 50+)…just give us something to show that we put in the work above 30.
This is a very interesting suggestion and I hope the devs take the time to consider it. And also do something for the people with multiple alts.
so you think there might be double daily rewards based on + 30fotm levels. Well that actually might happen sorry didn’t think of that.
Yeah, that’s what I was suggesting because it seems fair and not too hard to do. And then another kind of compensation for everyone that cared enough to level a second or third character depending on the level they reached.
People were getting double chests in WvW for doing nothing of importance but running with a zerg and getting new levels. I say getting your fractal lvl reset deserves at least that.
With agony reset you wont be able to play at level 30 either let a lot 50 so what do you care.
Agony will not be reset according to what the devs wrote.
I think we should get 2g per fractal level resetted.
Maybe not exactly 2g but something to compensate us for our time from levels 30-50. 50+ would be nice if it was before the hard cap but that’s probably asking way too much. Sides we won't get anything in return anyways

Actually they gave you a significantly better chance at skins and chests. Also, that is a completely irrelevant example that does not apply.
So which is it? Were you compensated with a “significantly better chance” or do you need to be compensated for your time for levels 30-50? Doublespeak!
You should read those posts in context they will attempt to make the exact same point which is that CURRENTLY levels 48 and 50 give you a better chance than 30 does now at weapons and good loot. In the FUTURE, you will get better rewards but I have said I DON’T kittenING CARE! We deserve compensation for our time spent in the CURRENT fotm for levels 30-50.
For levels 50+ fine since it would be hard to reward those as most people probably exploited.
You just said you already got compensated in the form of better drops (which there actually is no evidence that suggests your drops are any better other than at the 10, 20, 30 tiers). Now you want extra compensation on top of those better drops in the form of a payment per level. Either your extra levels rewarded you with better drops and you deserve nothing, or your extra levels didn’t provide anything and thus were meaningless and now deserve nothing. There is no scenario here in which your extra levels deserve compensation when they are removed.
Of course you derserve a compensation for the extra levels. You are being set back, to do them all over again. Also, you most definitely deserve to be rewarded for spending time to level alts to the max doable lvl (in this case 50), only to see the entire player base to be given the same priviliges without the minimal effort.
Again, it would be nice to hear what other people in the same situation think. Especially the ones who leveled multiple characters to 40+.
I have already said my peace and I am utterly kitten ed if I don’t get rewarded for all my stacks of ecto, gold, and time for 55 AR across 3 toons.
Exactly, not to mention that it is an accomplishment to get that gear and play all those characters to level 50, which the acount bound fractal level makes completely meaningless.
Again, it would be nice to hear what other people in the same situation think. Especially the ones who leveled multiple characters to 40+.
The purpose of this thread was to get a reply from a developper and read the opinions of others in the same situation. It is definitely not so that it would be compared to an appartment building or an used car.
The reward is probably going to be everything you get progressing back up to 50
If you remained at your current level (with max of 50), then you could still do this regardless. That’s not a reward. It’s being put back in the treadmill without any compensation.
It’s because they added a leaderboard. If you love fractals enough to get to 50 without any decent rewards, I’m sure you’ll have no problem doing it again with decent stuff flying at you as a result. Resetting everyone 30+ to level 30 for a chance at a top spot in the leaderboard is fair.
I personally don’t see the point to all these leaderboards, but I guess enough people do to warrant their existance. In any case, it was done to make a level starting position for those to climb the ranks again. We will all live.
First of all I have been doing daily lvl 48, getting an average of 10-15 rares, 1 exotic and cores, lodestones per run. The daily reward has given me so many fractal skins that I have started to salvage longbows, torches, maces and all the others , of which I had 5 duplicates of.
I do not want to do a lvl 30+ with a person who logged in with a character they never played before just because they felt like it. I would not call that elitist.
We should at least be rewarded for having leveled a second character which is extremely time consuming. Now pretty much everyone can enter a lvl 30 with a new lvl 80 ranger with blue gear, as long as they have another toon at the required level…
I currently have 2 level 50 characters getting affected by the new fractal changes. They are not only set back 20 levels, but also leveling the second one is completely meaningless now that the fractal level is account bound.
I wonder if there are any plans to reward players for the lost levels, like for example a double daily chest until they catch up to their previous level? And maybe an ascended weapon chest with selectable stats per additional character leveled over 30?

Another very legitimate concern is the making of parties after the new update. Up until now, I’ve been running daily lvl 48 with a fixed group of people. In the case of a free spot, we have been taking in another random person at that level, because it was almost certain that said person has the skill, AR and items needed to contribute to the party.
Now we are getting placed together with people that have only reached lvl 30 and have very small experience with the harder content. Which will undoubtfully lead to them getting kicked, if at all accepted into the “reseted fractal groups”. Also, getting a skilled 5th player for preset groups, will be much harder and it is a matter of time before people will start complaining about having to carry old lvl 30’s.
To all those that keep saying that doing lvl 48 fractals needed exploits:
Ever since the ascended weapons were introduced, pretty much anyone could get 50 AR. Invest a 250 ectos, and you get 55 AR. With both those any fractals is easily done in a legitimate way. All you need is a good group of people. Getting the levels from 30 to 50 is just as legit, as getting from 1 to 30. The difference is that it requires more time, gold, skill and patience. Especially if you do it on more than one character.
That is why it is perfectly justifiable that those people should be rewarded for loosing that progression, because, let’s face it: the current levels 30+ can be done in about 30 mins, unless you get dredge fractal.
They could easily reward the people who were resetted, with double reward chests in the end until they reach their former level. I guess that would make a lot of players happy, diminish the current anger and let people focus on effectively doing the new fractal challenges.
My problem is not with the reset itself (I have two lvl 50 characters), it is with the fact that none of us will get any kind of reward for spending endless hours leveling. Let alone the people who leveled more than one character only to be faced with an accound wide level. Also, what was the point of those ascended weapons? Pretty much everyone I know who crafted them, leveled then from 38 to 50. Why allow us this progression, only to take it away a couple of months later?
Lunatic Inquisition is the most stupid mini game ever. Not only is 13 mins extremely long and boring to run around in a huge map looking for people, but once you endure that horror, it does not count the games played and I don’t get points for the achievement. Please fix this! The last 3 games I played counted as just one. This is boring beyond words and a complete waste of time.
All 3 armor sets look horrible, both on female and male characters, with an exception for the female medium chest piece. It annoys me beyond explination that I will have to spend hundreds of gold to craft this ugliness, only to have it transmuted into something more decent.
It is more than obvious that Arenanet wants us to buy armor skins from the gem store. I don’t mind that if there was something pretty to choose from. However, most armorskins released so far have been utterly ridiculous. I am yet to find a pretty heavy armor skin for a female character. One that does not make her look like a fridge, a can or just fat (Braham’s legs anyone?). Still the only choices are the T3 armors, that everyone has, or the Arah set that I am already so bored with.
I am also hoping that they will give some love to the light and medium female sets. Enough with all the short-front long-back skirts. I dont want my character to look like a skimpy nun!
I have beaten Tequatl 4 times, all of them organized by the people of Desolation and led by Decimus Maximus (thank you guys you are awesome). Since I am from Aurora Glade, one of those wins happened in overflow, two on Ruins of Surmia and one on Fissure of Woe.
I got my title on the second day of the event release but I still keep on coming back because the fight is fun and I do my best to help out. So far the most epic fight we had was my final win – Tequatl spawned too early, we weren’t ready, everyone was far away from the battlefield. When we arrived, 3 minutes were already lost. Everyone focused, the stress was insane and somehow we managed to beat it with over 1 minute left on the timer.
Yes, the rewards are bad and so far the best loot I have gotten from Tequatl has been light exotic berserker shoulders lvl 78.
I think the rewards should be significantly improved to keep people coming back to the event. As it is today, getting to participate in an organized event is too much of a hassle to only be rewarded with some rares and greens. Many times I am out of guests, other times the server is too full so I have to wait out the next attempt etc. All that time spent needs to be rewarded.
No you don’t. You have to kill an enemy close to each battery. I did 2 batteries per phase and even the megalaser to make sure.

Hi, I just crafted the asceded dagger for my necro and after spending tons of gold on it, I was disappointed to see how badly it clips with my expensive T3 armor. I am a scepter/dagger necro, so when the dagger is equipped offhand, it is hidden under my armor half of the time. I love the design of the weapon and I would love to show it off a little more. Please fix it, I am sure most necros will get this dagger and it will be a pity to have such an expensive weapon not visible.

I found that the best way to get Empyreal is to do high level fractals. I did lvl 38 twice already and got 32-33 each time. I assume that if you go even higher, the amount will increase.
As for dragonite ore, I got 30 pcs from Dwayna, Lyssa and Grenth. I saw people doing Blathazar that got 43 pcs. Dragons give you between 18-25. Golem gave me 18. Lower map bosses such as fire elemental and maw gave me 4.
So far the hardest, well the most expensive thing to obtain, is the dark matter. After salvaging exotics with black lion kit, I’d say the chance is the same as with ectos.
Bloodstone dust… I have a bank tab full with it.
like i said, i just failed and got the progress, nothing is patched.
i had no idea whichone I was missing until i did the Bloodtide coast for the 3rd time and the achievement popped up. Apparently that map bugs out.
You know, honestly?
I only experienced two fails in about eleven runs and both after the nerf. Neither one had a thing to do with champion farming, they both were the fault of inept organization and commanders. No one knew where the heck to go or who was at what so you had groups of headless chickens running about or following tags, hoping that was the right way and people who constantly whining “We’re not gonna make it” and just giving up with 12-15 minutes left on the final wave.
I totally agree. I have failed the event very few times and it usually was because:
1) it was on the first day and people had no idea what they were doing
2) I was guesting a low populated server like Vabbi and there simply weren’t enough people there. On those servers people actually give up on finishing the event and go for the champ farm.
3) The rest of the times it has been due to the same reasons that Aerlen stated. Bad organization and people whining in map chat.
My most epic success was when I ended up on some german overflow and we zerged trough all the aetherblades events. Never had I had that much loot and we completed the event within 25 minutes.
ArenaNet is not the allmighty master that will force the players to complete events just so persons like you will be satisfied. This game requires a lot of gold if you want to have nice things, and this is the newest way to obtain it. If i am to be forced to spend 45 minutes each hour, doing mindless fights. It better be rewarding. The final reward after killing Scarlet is a joke, that’s why we look for other ways to make money. If you want to get rich, join in, if not – don’t, but stop trying to control people and call them exploiters. During all the invasions I have done (over 20 by now), the farmers have been minding their own business, joined by lost souls that do not know what the event is about. And there are always a few kittenes that feel the need to insult them and create a hostile environment in map chat.

I don’t know where you have been playing, but on my overflows only 1 out of 4 Invasions has been failing. I can live with those numbers and not all tries are meant to be succesful. You cannot tell people how to play just because a certain way suits you. How I spend the 45 minutes on the map is my own choice, and if i want to kill 5 champions before the captain I will do so. I look forward to what new ways people will come up with tomorrow, now that the champ spawn rate has been “slightly” reduced.

these were not small farming groups, this was the big zerg on Aurora Glade, a very high populated server. After the event was done I ended up with only 10 champ bags, compared to the usual 30-35.
Like so many people pointed out already, you get nothing better for completing the event. Killing the champs is not an exploit, it advances the event, if you get rich in the process, awesome. You can’t force people to play the way you want to. What if you are doing the Frostgorge invasion and half the people decide to go do Jormag. Are you going to blame them for not helping you because all are hoping to maybe get a nice drop from his chest?
The problem with this event are all the people that whine about it instead of playing the game. Good luck getting the achievements now, when the farmers are gone and the people get their 13 maps.
Just finished the first invasion after the update and can summerize it as boring, easy, little loot and one champion per event. Basically now, once people get their 13 maps done, there is no point of going back to redo the invasions. Oh, and Aurora Glade barely made it even though the zergs were not farming champs but doing the regular events. So people, thank you for whining and for ruining a perfectly good and fun farm.
I can give you a nice example: the Spanish cities Ceuta and Melilla are located in Morroco but are considered a part of Spain. Gibraltar is located in Spain but is part of the UK. So, Ebonhawke can easily be located in Ascalon and still be considered a part of Kryta if Krytan law etc applies there.
I have the same problem. Have not played the game for a month, when I try to do it today, My download gets stuck at 0%. At 55,67 MB the download speed slowly dies and the game crashes. Tried repairing, resetting the router, nothing helps. This is really annoying.
The skill challenge at False Lake is still bugged. The location is completely empty. I suppose there should be something/someone in the shipwreck to activate the challenge but there is nothing. People come in to the area all the time to check if it’s fixed. This is the only thing preventing the 100% map completetion.
