I agree with you and support a fixed number of achievement points awarded per daily chest instead of per amounts of dailies completed.
My achievement points are almost 12500 and can honestly say that his is getting really frustrating. I do not care about my place on the leaderboards nor do I think that they mean something.
I never cared for dailies or montlies until the laurels were introduced. Some of them got done by accident, others remained empty.
I never cared for achievement points until the chests and acount wide rewards were implemented.
Now that the excitment about the zenith skins is long gone…what remains?
Throwing 20 random sigils in the forge for an AP?
Hunting chickens in Queensdale?
Afk-ing in Southsun survival?
Doing dailies is mundane and boring and often feels like a chore. But it is useful when leveling a character and brings in some ok rewards. I am not oposing a variety of dailies. If more are added, better for the people. However, the dailies are already rewarded by laurels, exp, karma, coins, luck , random black lion stuff. I do not think they should be rewarding achievement points. The achievement points should be kept for the Living Story and the original slayer, weapon master, dungeons etc.
This way the completionists will not feel forced to spend hours getting all done for a daily before they can start enjoying the game.
An alternative is 5 per day per account – the same ammount that it takes to actually get the daily.
It already does not make sence that you get the same amount of points for hunting down 100+ dolyaks in wvw as for killing frogs 10 days in a row….
Many people agree with the OP and posted their opinions in the original thread that unfortunately got closed. To say that noone shares his opinion, just because he stands here opposed by a very vocal group, does not make sence. A tiny fracture of the GW2 player base reads the forums. Even fewer people actually post here. And since this is a game that people play for fun, many choose not to protest even if they see something that they do not like.
The main issue is not that people may get offended by seeing other people’s characters running around in an armor showing underboob.
The issue is that in an already limited selection of non trenchcoat armors, the designers choose to show underboob on the highest tier medium armor. With this decision they automatically prevent players who are not ok with their characters having this look to acquire this exclusive armor. Since the core concept of the armor is beautifully designed, full of gorgeous details, they are left thinking: I want this and I would have gotten it had it not been for the underboob.
In a game that is all about the looks, the highest tier armor should not be left unaccessible to people that draw the line on how much revealing is too much. There is a huge difference between the bra support in other skimpy armors, and what we have to deal with here.
We live in a society with established social norms and in most civilized countries a woman wearing an outfit showing underboob in public would most likely be detained for indecent exposure. Furthermore, no self respectful woman will show herself in public exposing her underboobs to the eye. It is in no way empowering nor tasteful. Please note that I am talking about public situations. Whatever people choose to do in the privicy of their own homes, is something else that does not have a place on these forums.
If having an armor this skimpy, is so sought out by certain players, the designers could have easly made an underboob armor sellable by a karma vendor or by gems and keeping the cultural armor appealing for a larger playerbase.
I just levelled a ranger to 80 in two days. I agree that the levelling itself can be pretty boring if you already have gone through it with other classes.
I instantly gained 28 levels with experience scroll and the wvw chest tomes of knowledge. I was always running with a potion and a random food that can give you a total of +20 or 25% more experience from kills. I also had an experience booster on but not everyone has access to it. Doing personal story gives quite a lot of exp and black lion keys.
Ask a friend to take you to a zone 10+ levels higher than you and kill random enemies, the levels will pile up like crazy. Do some dungeons with your main and switch at the end: you will gain a level per path.
Level up cooking and artificer, both are pretty cheap and can give you 14 levels…
OR, wait till tomorrow when the update goes live, and buy tomes of knowledge in pvp and get all the levels you are missing. If you don’t have enough glory or gold… just use the ways stated above.

Like Upham said: google underboob and find a single tastefull picture.
If you are comparing showing shoulders to showing underboob, the same way that people are comparing twerking to Elvis’ hip shaking, then I rest my case.
I am not acting like it’s universally tasteless and trashy. It is universally tasteless and trashy.
The fact that a female human character has to run around shooting arrows, slashing with daggers or throwing granades while half her underboob is hanging out from her armor, is not only trashy but also degrading to women.
And what kind of a message is being sent to those kids?
Don’t be so naive, kids at age of 12 have already seen it all.
Guild Wars 1 was no different.
Just because they have seen it all, it does not mean that it should be promoted.
I am impressed with this forum’s attachement to a digital underboob.
And again, I am not requesting the removal of this extremly tastless piece of armor nor trying to offend the people that bought it. I am questioning its existance in a supposedly high quality game. I am also asking for an optional more covered-up piece (like the one Eekzie uploaded) for the people that are not OK with this tasteless and over eroticized chest armor but still want to be able to wear a tier 3 set.
Is it just underboob you don’t like? Or is cleavage just as bad? Because it’s still a portion of the breast displayed. Ideas of what is impure and acceptable are personal and subjective. I happen to find the hip area that is exposed on the Norn female T3 heavy (that you said is acceptable btw) to be much more tantalizing on a woman than her underboob. This is my personal feeling and in no way feel that the game should cater to my subjective opinion.
It has to do with society’s perception of what is erotic. Cleavage is something perfectly normal (apart from certain extremes) while showing underboob atomatically becomes erotic and its presence is questionable in a PEGI 12 game.
I am not defending the norn T3 geavy, but the revealed hip area does not show more than the average lace tied bikini bottom that you can see on the beach. Underboobs however… how common are those?
1) Introducing such tasteless high end armor piece should have never been done in the first place.
2) But the armor is here and many people have it. I am not saying it should be removed. I want a second option for the chest piece so that players that do not want trashy characters could still use the tier 3 armor.
3) I also want the equal amount of design energy to be spent on the medium armors as it is done on the light and heavy ones.
4) I am not enforcing my values to anyone, but when random people call me prude for stating the obvious, I must defend myself. There is no situation in life where a female purposely wearing an outfit showing underboob that can be called tastefull. The two bolded part directly contradict each other. You and few others in this thread claim it is tasteless and should be changed while more posters in this thread have claimed otherwise. Therefore you want Anet to change the armor based on your belief that it is tasteless. The last part of #4 is also a matter of opinion.
Point 2 will not happen, in my opinion, for the foreseeable future since they would also have to add a similar item to each tier of every race, otherwise they show favoritism which wouldn’t go over very well.
Point 3 I agree on the majority of med armor is simply some form of trench coat and they could be done better.
There is a big difference. I am not imposing my opinion, I am stating it.
Let’s not forget that the game in the EU has a PEGI 12 rating. When the highest tier armor looks like that, what kind of message is being sent to those kids?
I agree with you in how tasteless that chest piece is. But well, we shouldn’t judge other people for wanting to see a digital underboob while playing a videogame, eh?
I still find amusing that they didn’t change it early after release, just like they changed Arah heavy set for females.
So yeah, a fleshy boob in the Arah set was censored, but the 30g underboob in the human T3 wasn’t. And won’t be. So all you should ask for is new non-trench coat skins. This is how my old ranger used to look:
https://dviw3bl0enbyw.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/45172/126384895-4.jpgNow with the krytan, magitech, vipers and aether sets you can create some cool looks. But buying a gem armor just for 1 piece is not worth it for me.
This is what my thief looks like. A mix of many armors. My ranger got to inherit the rest of the magitec armor because I only liked the leg pieces.
I had no idea that the Arah armor was censored, but the change did indeed make the armor look better.
I would love to see more elegant medium chest pieces, that don’t make female characers look bulky or clumsy (like the vyper one does) or force a trenchcoat on you.
So don’t buy it. Request new skins. Do NOT request changes for existing skins. Your opinion is not the be-all, end-all of the discussion. The world does not revolve around you.
People can choose to wear the skin just like you can choose not to.
I love the delusion that cultural armor is in any way prestigious, too. Plus, as the gold->gem rate rises, gem store armor will soon be more expensive than the cultural armor.
Not buying it doesn’t solve the problem. Your ‘’do not request changes’’ is simply you feeling entitled. The armor change I viewed to you does not undermine the armor in any way. It simply removes the indecency.
You’re being too short sighted with thinking that it is simply a choice that is being made regarding this armor set of whether or not to buy it.
I already told you it is not. I will never get the armor set.But the level of immaturity that is explicitely adhesive to the design of an underboob is one I do not wish to have in a high-standard game.
Very well said
People here are missing the point:
Existing amours that have been in the game since launch should not be changed for any reason
I also think it is kind of insulting of you to imply that medium armors either look like “pure trash” or a “nun”
I love my engi and she does not look like a nun tyvm.
I am a female player and I am not even slightly offended by a bit of under-boob- I wonder what you think of the amazing amount of side-boob in the light armors?
The skimpy light armors have been done tastefully so far so there is nothing to compare.
Also FYI:
My human female elementalists has the tier 3 light armor.
My norn female guardian has the tier 3 heavy armor.
My norn female ranger will have the tier 3 medium armor.
All pretty skimpy armors but tastefully designed.
Do you go into clothing retail stores and request that they change the style of clothes you don’t care for?
If the retail store was selling clothes that belong to an adult store, I would most definitely request that they change the design.
No. You don’t like it, don’t buy it and ask Arenanet to make more armor instead of trying to force them to change existing art.
More options, not more alterations.
My significant other plays this game almost as much as I do, and she has this skin on two of her characters. She loves it. People have different tastes.
I am by no means prude, as you are not trash for liking this armor. If people want to look at underboobs, there are plenty of other places on the internet where you can see that and more.
Also consider that people should not be kept away from the highest tier human medium amor just because someone decided to put in game a design that belongs in a 90’s sleazy magazine.
(edited by Moderator)
I’m thinking most of you don’t get the point in this thread.
The biggest problem I have and share with OP is that it simply doesn’t live up to the quality I expect of a game. It’s not a stylistic choise, it simply is too far of what I expect a game should present to you. I can not support designers who willingly make you look like you’re working on a street corner.
A simple alteration to the armor would still leave it skimpy, but it’d remove the impure aspect of the armor.
Thank you, this is all I wanted to show and I hope that the developers can see it.
If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. You don’t need this skin for anything. Just buy something you do like the looks of.
That is the point, there is nothing else available that is not a trench coat or looks decent. Pretty light armor sets are being released all the time. There is a vast selection of heavy armors as well. Yet the medium is always the same. Don’t get me started on the latest flame pirate outift from the gem store.
The human tier 3 female should have never had this design in the first place because it automatically alienates the majority of the female players.
And the vyper armor does not count. It is bulky, unelegant and makes the character look twice as fat.
This has nothing to do with religious nor archaic beliefs and no matter what you say it will not change the fact that this armor is tastless. If a minimal modification to the chest piece to cover up this unnecessary underboob will outrage the community, that only says a lot about the priorities of the said community.
But if people are so attached to their characters’ breasts hanging out from their armor, then it would be nice if arena net could introduce the option to select a more tastefull option at the cultural vendor.
When your options are to look like a nun or pure trash, there should be some middle ground.
(edited by IceVyper.6810)
Because there is nothing else available. Just because many people got the armor, it does not mean that others shouldn’t point out how ridiculous and tasteless it looks.
(edited by IceVyper.6810)
I cannot be the only one sitting on a human female thief having a hard time finding a pretty armor that does not have a huge trench coat with it.
I love the look of the human tier 3 cultural and have purchased most of the pieces. But that horrible chest item…. Why oh why would you design that horrible visible underboob and thus preventing many people from getting the armor. It looks totally ridiculous and I know plenty of male and female players that are hating on it. I don’t mind skimpy armor, I actually prefer it to long hanging pieces of cloth. But there has to be some limits and taste. The norn female heavy T3 is just as skimpy, but it is done in a much more tastefull way.
Please Arena net, redesign that chest piece, just add a little more fabric to cover the horrible underboob. If not, please introduce some cool looking and elegant medium armor though the gem store. (The vyper armor does not count…)
EDIT: Adding a design proposal from a poster here so that it does not get lost.
(edited by IceVyper.6810)
I have five ascended weapons, 4 crafted and one from a drop. I plan on eventually levelling armorsmithing to 500 and crafting full sets for my guardian and warrior.
I actually think that the ascended medium chest pieces looks awesome, so that would be the next project for my thief. Arena net: what were you thinking with the female T3 medium armor. It looks fantastic but what’s up with that visible underboob?? Why on earth would you design such armor…
I think some people are totally missing the point of the type of goal ascended gear is supposed to provide.
It provides an LONG TERM end game goal related to character progression, infact is the only end game goal that offers a stat progression instead of aesthetics. The materials needed to get it encourages play throughout all areas of the game.
The 3 ascended materials for obsidian refinement you can earn doing world bosses, dungeons, fractals, world vrs world, and killing champs/opening chests any where in the open world.
Having max crafting, something that most of use used throughout our leveling process now offers a continuation for end game. They would have a hard time adding armor acquisition methods outside of drops to other areas of the game because crafting acts as a time, effort, and money gate.
Materials of all tiers that would have to be gathered in all areas of open world, in world vrs world, or via gold through your favorite income producing activities. Even salvaged from items.
It is a grind only if you make it a grind, if you must have it ASAP and the only means you find acceptable to obtain that is the fastest most tedious way possible, and that bothers you, that is not the game’s fault, that is your fault. You are in no way forced to grind out gold and materials in a champ farm or any of the popular farms, nor are you gated from any content from not having ascended weapons and armor.
I for one certainly don’t plan on focusing on obtaining my armor in the first week or even the first month, as I am a die hard anti-farm player. Having already done 3 weapons, I know ascended armor will eventually fall in my lap if I just participate in multiple areas of the game, save, and keep doing what I find fun with my guild.
I completely agree with you and wish that more people would see it that way. I will eventually get full sets for my characters but I am in no rush nor do I plan to spend all my gold on the crafting like I did with the ascended weapons. And still, it was a different situation, I rushed the weapon crafting because it was granting access to the higher level fractals and I wanted the white weapon skins. Now there is no need for that as I made it back to 50 with my current AR.
In the end, creating a full set of ascended armor is a perfect long term goal, especially for people with one or several legendaries looking for something new. Especially when more legendaries mean more gifts of exploration (the horrors). And all this can be done without mindless champion farming. But if people are impatient and expose themselves to the champ farm while hating it, this is their problem.
And finally, for everyone hating on the armor and weapon look: yes most is very unpleasant for the eyes. That’s why we have transmutation stones. People have already said it but this is done on purpose so that the entire playerbase won’t end up looking the same.
As for the people lamenting on the loss of their hard earned exotics: there is nothing hard about getting exotic weapons, armors, trinkets etc. If you percieve that as hard then you are difinitely not the target population for the ascended items and you most likely don’t even need them.
I don’t mind the underwater fractal, it’s a nice way to get underwater kills and armored scales. Usually it is the other people in the party that do not want it. However, it is madness to choose it on level 40 or 50, when agony strikes non stop and only a handfull of players have bothered to get underwater weapons with agony resistance.
I won’t craft them for the look nor for the stats, but for the agony slots if there are any. In any way I plan to wait before I start, till the material prices drop.
Sorry Zel, I’m the only one allowed to have a topic on this.
Jokes. <3 they just can’t wait for Fractured to be an archived sub forum!
Interesting how they never merged my thread. It just died out…
I have the perfect compensation. Each character who reached lvl 48 before the update gets a full set of ascended armor with selectable stats
And it is still not too late for us to get a compensation. I am still hoping that they are still deciding on the best way to do so
OR you can use the silver to buy silk. Infinite stacks of silk for everyone!
If you want to do the Ascalon fractal, just go with it as first fractal instead of swamp. Can’t help much with the volcanic one though. But there is still a week left so hopefully you will get it.
Because major runes are sooooo useful…
The people that were argueing against compensation stopped posting in this thread over 5 pages ago. Noone here is saying that you should not be rewarded. People are telling you to stop mixing wvw and pvp where they do not belong. Everything is being reworked due to different reasons and fixing it takes different measures.
How do you level in wvw and pvp? You repeat the same content getting experience wich gives you more levels. Each level requires the same activity, it just takes longer to complete.
The new 30-50 fractals require passing different instabilities. There was no official and visible marker before showing personal level. Add to that slow decision making and time to program whatever fractal related compesation they might give.
The Flamekissed armor is also completely irrerevant to this discussion. It was an obvious bad call and the product was recalled from the gem store. Nothing too complicated to decide nor execute.
I say be patient and you will get your answer.
There is something quite weird with the ways fractals have been rolling since the update. The final 3 levels before 50, I had to replay Swamp, Ascalon, Volcano over and over again.
In the 20+ runs that I did over level 30, I have gotten Dredge and Aetherblades just once. It took about 15 runs to actually get Snow fractal too.
I am not defending them, I am just saying that sitting here and demanding a response day after day is not going to achieve anything. Especially since the constructive feedback ceased long time ago.
I know that people are frustrated, that’s why I suggest they do something more constructive. They can keep on using this thread as a venting place if they wish, but they also won’t be taken seriously.
They said they are gathering feedback. Just because everyone here is impatient, they cannot and won’t come out with a comment unless they have decided on a course of action. We will see if and when that happens.
I would like to hear an answer just as much as you do.
It is time to stop feeling like victims and do something productive. If you wanna play fractals, group up and get it done. Open the instance and you won’t get kicked. If a party sucks, leave it and join a new one. Chances are you will get into a nice group.
Sitting here and repeating how unfair we’ve been threated is not accomplishing anything.
I don’t agree with many of the changes, but they are here to stay so better move on to something more productive.
you go ahead, im gonna keep “feeling like a victim”
Sorry but im not going to stop.
I don’t think that repeated posts by the same person about “how unfair this is” is going to help the cause. Arena net said they are gathering feedback, we have given our opinions and made suggestions. They want to hear different opinions, not the same voice repeating the same thing.
Unfortunately this thread left the constructive critisism long time ago and now the general tone is a bunch of people feeling sorry for themselves.
Now that the innitial frustration is gone I must say that I had loads of fun this week. Today I made it again to level 50, half the time playing with friends and half the time with pugs. The first 10 levels were annoying, with small exceptions, and the pugs there weren’t the ideal choice but they were all nice people and helped the progress. The levels after 40 were super fun. Yes, there were disappointments with stuff bugging out and pugs giving up too quickly, but overall, most of the people I met were nice, and good players and contributed to nice and quick runs.
Yes, I still think that we should have some form of compensation for the reset but I also believe that we should stop comparing it to other aspects of the game.
I am not sure what this pvp reset is about. They are letting people keep their finishers… how hard is it to understand that this is a completely different thing?
*Some people play pvp on a competitive level.
*Some people have never set their foot in the game outside of pvp.
*The finishers were already there, it was something unlocked on their account. It does not require too much modifications. Fractals never had a special progress marker and we are asking for one to be created. That takes time.
*Also Anet saw our reactions, and they are not letting more people get upset the same way we did.
I would love to be able to buy ascended weapon boxes with those relics…
They could easily add a pristine vendor, just like the laurel one…
It was clear I just want to be able to buy stuff that cannot be acquired in fractals. Dragonite ore is so far the only thing I am lacking.
You can buy obsidian shards with the regular relics…
Let us buy 100 normal relics for one pristine and I’m happy. Grinding capacitors for alts is boring, and ANet is being quite stingy with relic drops per level.
The problem is that the people that want an alternative use for the pristine relics are the ones with 100+ of them. Those same people have thousands of regular relics left after making ascended backpieces for all their alts.
Its called having alts bud. Not all my toons will ever see a fractal higher then lvl 20, but its still very easy to run the low ones cause 2 rings give 20 AR base (simple infusion included) so have some fun and run different toons through them, save infusions and stack them all into single one.
I am wondering how long it takes you to finish a low level fractal… (meaning a series of 4). Anything longer than 20 minutes makes the effort worthless.
I have 5 alts with 30+ AR. Repeating the same content on an alt does not make it less boring nor makes acquiring agony infusions more efficient.
I am pretty sure that the same time spent doing dungeons would give you enough gold for double if not tripple the infusions that you can farm in fractals. But it is up to everyone to decide how to spend their time.
Thank you for the answer
I see. A little off topic here. I am trying to increase my warrior’s AR. I just infused a regular crystaline band ring. Is it no longer possible to put two versatile infusions in it to get it to 10 AR? Or do I have to waste a +5 agony infusion for the second slot?
Is it completely undoable with 55 AR? A friend tried to join us for lvl 40 with just 30 AR and would down as soon as we revived her.
Yeah, I understand that, but as I have currently only 50 AR, I do have to add at least 14 more to get to 64
Its just the constant agony, acts exactly the same way as 40 if you have 55 AR. So nothing hard about it cept spending gold =/. I hope we get a raise to 60 within a few months with some cool and CHALLENGING instabilities.
Then it doesn’t make sence. It basically says: spend 500 g if you want to progress or wait and gather infusions… Also, getting to level 49 is perfectly doable with only 50 AR. It seems like an completely unnecessary mechanic to suddenly require at least 15 more AR to be able to continue…
Getting to my current level 48 has given me enough infusions to be close to making a second +7 infusion. I plan to be 50 today then I intend to do some dungeons and buy infusions with the gold reward.
Uh… you crafted 1024 +1 infusions into a +11?
FYI, you can farm the +1s via multiple toons with extreme ease. Just have a partner or 2, fill rest with via the LFG and farm lvl 8. For any experienced fractal player its a very quick run, except the new puzzle one. Its only a drag for new people, but if you have 2-3 experienced players you can carry with ease. Yes, you still have to spend quite a bit of gold but I just wanted to see how it works, and you will not lose much and in many cases make gold on the higher ones, depending on the supply / demand at any given time.
There are a lot of real lazy and rich people in this game that dont wanna bother with artifice.
Are people seriously farming agony infusions in low level fractals? This sounds just as unefficient and pointless as farming black lion keys through personal story. On top of it not too reliable as not every chest gives an infusion. It makes much more sence to do a few dungeons and buy the infusions off the TP with the gold made.
Do an AC path and you get gold for at least 6 infusions in 10-15 mins.
Do the entire dungeon and you can buy 18 infusions in less than an hour.
Do Arah path 2 and get 12 more infusions in less than 30 mins. On top of it you get tokens and experience.
This way it does not feel like farming, you do different content that yields much better results.
