I can think of two reasons for not relasing this armor just yet:

  • They need to come up with an equally cool male version
  • The female model needs to look decent on all races and maybe charr and asura are not that easy.

In any case, I would buy gems with real money for this armor.

Suck it up and play the other third (extrapolation here I know) of the game.

You’ll only get better at the game as a whole for doing so.

Exclusive PvE’ers don’t deserve extra treatment on top of what exclusives you already have; the PvP community has gotten diddly-squat. Even in the sad state that it is in, PvP is the only actual demonstration of any level of player skill (yes we’re all aware that this is arguable but the general basis still stands); the solution? Play PvP and get better. You won’t regret it whatsoever and that’s a promise.

I assume some people are scared of their self-assumed skill at the game being disproved, but it’s happened to all PvP’ers at some point and it’s only done us good.

That being said I play both PvP and PvE in equal amounts (with my heart closest to PvP of course).

People like you need to stop making this pvp vs pve. It’s not a competition. Why can’t pve have an exclusive armor set? All the reasoning pvpers are giving is that pvp deserves it more. What the heck? Why does that matter?

No one thinks pvp shouldn’t have exclusive armor. No one. But this whole “I’m a pvper we get nothing!” Which isn’t true (WvW gets nothing and I’m not even biased, I only pve and I can see how little they get) should not be the reason pve doesn’t get a grind exclusive armor we can work on. I mean… why is this about pvp versus pve? Why are we fighting? That’s so stupid.

It is sad to see how many people actually missed the point and tried to turn this in to a fight between PVE and PVP and what game mode deserves more. This was never the issue. The fact that you don’t find PVE challenging, does not give you any right to devaluate people’s efforts there nor to dictate what rewards they deserve.

We get it that PVP has been neglected for a long time, but this doesn’t mean that PVE should get less prestigious content, just to make things balanced.

  • We asked why when Anet finally introduced a prestigious armor set, they made it available only via the least popular game mode and accessible to a handful of people?
  • Why they couldn’t simultaneosly introduce similar sets to PVE and WVW?
  • We also gave countless examples of how any PVE armor skin, can be obtained via PVP. Even the ascended ones.
  • We also suggested possible ways of acquiring said set and Fractals was the most common solution, simply because it is the only part of PVE that does not have its own armor set.

Now, can someone please explain to me, why is it so difficult to support an idea what will give the majority of the players something to work for? That instead of farming for the 5th offhand ledengary on their 3rd alt, people can focus on something new, and gather materials for a prestigious armor set.

I totally understand the OP and we all know he is talking about the TTS guild.

These guys are like poison for the multiplayer aspect of the game..
They spread their guys out to find THE MAP, collect their guys and leech out
maps that are almost full.

That leaves people back with 15-20 players not having any chance to beat Tequatl or the Worms. Usually these are the people who waited for 40 minutes in a map to play a successful event.
Behavior like that belongs forbidden or somehow denied by A-Net.
You know things are wrong when people come into a map and ask “is this run by TTS?” and leave if it is.
I really feel bad for the people who waited such a long time just to be betrayed by a gang of clowns with a Team Speak server.

Please A-Net do something about this situation, the comunity is already poisoned.
We don’t need another battlefield

Sorry but the game is already too casual. Why there can’t something harder for us too?I know atleast 4 Europe comunities that are doing the worm just fine.If you are not part of them then you have to try harder to get into their guilds.
When TxS is doing a run we want it smooth with experienced players.People being on TS listening and doing what is told to them.People coming with food and drinks.Good gear. They must know the fight.Yes the fight needs preparation. If you can’t do it then find someone who can.Not everything in this game is for the casual player.

I like the worm as it is.Why?Because i put an effort in it.You must do the same. Not every World boss has to be like the rest.Killed by numbers without 0 strategy only pressing 111111.

This is so not the point. Nobody is complaining that the fight is hard, or that it requires different tactics.

The problem is that no matter how experienced you are, how good gear you have, you have no chance of completening the event unless you have access to the TxS guild.

And how do you join them since they are always closed to recruiting? How do you ask for taxi on the TS server when you have no rights?

The only chance of success for that event, is you being “lucky” to be in the same artificially created guild, whose slots got filled with randoms.

I was having crazy fun with this fight the first week when it was released. Spent hour after hour guesting Desolation, trying to help them get the first kill. Know the kitten fight by heart. And now what? I can’t get into the right map because 200 others have been taken there already.

I just really hope it’s a set and not a freaking outfit.

Time for a tiny bit of history.

Once upon a time, when GW2 was still in development we got a blog post talking about armor and dyes. During it, it was mentioned that Anet used GW1 armor for inspiration and we got a comparison between GW1’s Mesmer Elite Kurzick and GW2’s version (what would end up being Anise’s armor).

Then during the Mesmer reveal, Anet dared to tease us with this mesmer wearing this armor http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Wlr3g3yZZVk#t=104

Comes the game and nobody can find it. The only trace of it is a reworked version on Anise and Anet has been silent ever since.

A few months ago a code was found for this armor.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/lore/human/Anise-Armor-Item-Code
It only works on human females.

Up to this day, I still believe that the kitteniness of “Armor is armor, we don’t want kittentail dresses and skirts !” that started on gw2guru is the reason why this armor and another one (the one the mesmer concept art wears) isn’t available to players.

The armor from tha video is so incredibly beautiful, I want it even more now…

Please Arena Net, give us Anise’s armor in its original form…

What kind of armor do you like?

I love this topic!

Before I separate armors by type, I’d like to say that for me the most important is elegant and somewhat revealing armor with texture that dyes nicely.

LIGHT ARMOR:
I love Anise’s armor and I really really want for it to be introduced in game. I prefer shorter and less bulky armors, because they move nicely.

MEDIUM ARMOR
Here I like the Strider set, anything with a trench coat is a big NO for me. And I absolutely hate the T3 female human armor. Although, I do prefer for this type of armor, an assymetrical look. It can be revealing as well, just, please no underboob.
I would like to see in game armors similar to the concept art of Livia’s armor (see attached photo). I think they are really suitable for medium classes.

HEAVY ARMOR
Nothing too bulky, I don’t like armors that make you look like a knight. From what is now in game, I like the Plalanx set and the new super-elite-impossible-to-get PVP armor.

Basically I would pay thousands of gems to acquire armors similar to the ones in Tera or Aion. Of course, those games have super trashy sets as well, but generaly there is lot’s of beautiful stuff.

I hated the capes and do not want them back. I’d rather have development resourses be spent on something useful.

Which is a fair comment. However I will take this opportunity to point out certain thinks that ANet have released that no-one asked for and I seldom see people wearing:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Plush_Quaggan_Backpack_Cover
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fuzzy_Quaggan_Hat

Now I mean no disrespect to ANet. But we have seen quite a lot of designs added for these 2 gemstore skins. So I put to you: What’s the first thing you would do, having spent time asking for Capes, if Anet then released another Charr/Quaggan backpack skin… I wouldn’t rage, but I’d be somewhat annoyed. I didn’t care for them on day 1, i still don’t care for them.

So I don’t buy them. Much like with a cape, people who don’t want them, won’t buy them. But there is Clearly a demand for them, so All i ask is next time ANet thin of adding in a new Plush Skin… please dedicate the time towards adding Capes instead.

:)

The difference is that the hat and the quaggan backpacks are just skins to be applied to existing items. Capes have to be programmed from scratch as a completely new item. I do not see any use for them, appart from GW1 nostalgia.

There is, however a way to get around this quite easily. Make a set of new guild armors, that have a cape built into the chest piece.

Again, I do not understand that need to show which guild you belong to.

I don’t really agree that the number of votes needed should be increased beyond 2.

Actually a much better solution would be this:

If a player has not been inside the instance from the start, he/she is not allowed to vote kick. That way, no random last minute replacement can steal your instance.

And Dry Top isn’t a dungeon and the original party leader wasn’t being kicked. Kicking in Dry Top does nothing to the kicked person’s progress. Just affects their experience earned and chances at loot.

Dungeon instance creator should not be immune from kicks. Here’s why:

Lazy people who want to be carried can make a group and make it look like it’s for speed runners only. Does not state that he wants to be carried or make it known that he’s a lazy bum looking to be carried (or she). He makes a decent effort for the first boss (get some time equity into the group), then slacks off. Are the speedrunners supposed to just grin and bear it for the rest of the dungeon?

Nope. They should have every right to kick the lazy person who lied to them about the intention of the group.

Nor should groups have to suffer through a drunk person on a casual run who started off sober and started the dungeon but decided drinking enough beer to get drunk was a wise decision.

And after this change there will likely be nothing to note who started the dungeon anymore (and I doubt there’s anything that denotes party leader in the code), so it may not be possible to have one person out of a party be unkickable.

They are working on ways to limit the effect of trolls and griefers, but it will likely take some time. They have to figure out a code to store votes to increase from 2 to 3. They’re working on a way to make it easier to report those who are abusing the kick system.

Your system would likely require them to add more code as well for an issue that’s probably not as common overall as you think based on your own experiences.

If you’ve been kicked as a leader 100 times out of 150 times for reasons not related to being a jerk or breaking rules, it seems like a lot. But if every kick of a dungeon creator for non jerk or rule breaking issues is only 500 out of 100,000, that’s not a lot. That’s 0.5% of dungeon creators being kicked for pointless reasons.

I say non jerk or rule breaking because:

1. No one should be forced to listen to a guy go off on someone in a rude manner just because he’s the dungeon leader and it’s too far into the dungeon to leave without making it a waste of time.

2. No one should be at the mercy of a leader who decides he wants to exploit the game. The exploiter should always be the one that has to lose progress. Not the ones who wanted to do the dungeon legit.

I’m not saying you fall into category 1 or 2, but you can’t honestly tell me that jerks and exploiters as dungeon leaders should be immune from being kicked?

I guess I am viewing this only from my point of view, where me or a friend are always party leaders and thus make sure that the party follows our rules. Now, of course, none of us will abuse that power, slack intentionally etc and that is why I haven’t thought much about the other side of the issue.

And now that I have given it some thought, it is a small inconvenience that I am willing to live with. Mainly because I intend to not letting strangers be party leaders.

And if you are a speed runner, why do you expose yourself for such risks? Why do you accept someone else to open the instance for you? And why do you rely on the LFG to find like minded people for such runs, when the most viable way is to join a speed running guild.

I find it very funny that someone can get severly drunk in the course of a dungeon path. I would like to see that

Anyway, most dungeon paths don’t really need 5 people do be finished, so if you happen to get stuck with a douchy leader and choose to stay, you still get your rewards in the end, block and report the person and move on. On the other hand, if you started the instance, did all that was expected of you, but get kicked before the end, out of griefing, then you just wasted your time as you are left without rewards.

Basically, what we have here, is having to choose between the lesser of two evils: being stuck with a jerk or loosing all progress alltogether.

If I percieve a party member as any of the below listed things, that person is going to get kicked:

*rude
*slacker
*uncooperative

so your perception is flawless and should be trusted at all times?

If it is my party – yes. I have certain requirements for people that I play with, and if they are not met, that party member has to go. I will not meddle in what happens in outside parties.

oh so you aggree with the autonomy of the party owner? and that the party owner should be unkickable?

I believe that the party creator should be a party leader as well, and that person sets the rules for the instance. That person should be unkickable.

If the leader has specified that the party is going to speedrun a dungeon, and gets joined by obviously unexperienced people, that are hindering that run, it is the leader’s right to kick them.

oh yes now when i create speedrun party i will have to spend 50k karma on kicking people who cant read , great idea

I think that we just need party leader and if party leader goes offline , lead is taken over after 5 min , becasue I dont get it when i create MY lfg with MY description I open MY dungeon why i have to suffer becasue people cant read/dont ping gear or they are just iditos . I mostly speedrun dungs I am losing control why I have almost full party then suddenly 800ap ranger enters I want to kick it and what ?! Why kick ? We need exped ele got idiot ranger and cant kick him becasue rest of party tells me "easy it is only a game "

I just think that the person who created the LFG and the party and started the instance, should be protected. Up until now, the protection was: if he/she was kicked, the instance was gone.

Now, something has to be done, to make people safe about playing with strangers.

If the party composition is not to your liking, you can easily leave it and make a new one.

Don’t get me wrong, I want to be able to kick people. But I also want to be able to protect myself. It is a hard balance….

The way in which party is designed has already shown us what anet wanted from a party system. The party system, from the start, has no party leader because anet concluded that the community can’t be trusted in handling full ownership of the party. This is to prevent scenario where party leaders abuse their authority and kick people at the final boss and giving the slots to his/her friends or to sell them. It is unfortunate but a few black sheeps are enough to ruin the entire gameplay. Furthermore, in a carebear game like Guild Wars 2, players aren’t given the opportunity to settle such conflict themselves due to the lack of open-world PvP.

The power balance of the party is largely dependent on the instance starter since the beginning. Everybody knows kicking dungeon starter is a bad idea and that create a balance against people who want to steal the party.

With the new update, while it is welcoming to know that we can change characters and not getting kicked out. It is also welcoming to know that we won’t get kicked out if dungeon starter left or disconnected. However, people are also worried of people joining the party and hi-jack the party during the final boss.

Of course, guild group won’t have this problem, it is mainly the pug group.

I play mostly with friends, but every now and then I do fractals using the LFG tool. During those runs, I always make sure that either me or a friend open the instance and thus the risk of troll kicking is minimized.

Now, while this new feature has many positive sides, I will personally have to restrict myself to playing with friends or my guild. In the end, the ones that will suffer the most, are the people that do not have enough contacts to rely on.

Please add restrictions to kicking.

I made this suggestion a few days ago:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Dishonorable-in-PvE/first#post4321284

TLDR: If you kick a lot of people in a short period of time, you are no longer able to be in a lfg party for a few days.

I don’t think this solves much, because: what is “a lot of people”? With such a restriction, you are still allowing trolls to mess up the game for a few people, before they get punished. That behaviour should not be minimized, but prevented.

Please add restrictions to kicking.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I like the “party leader” function. Basically the issue can be prevented like this:

Whoever opens the instance is the party leader.
If he/she disconnects for a long period of time or volonteerly leaves the party: the instance remains open.
If, however, this person is kicked, the instance disbands as it does right now.

This way, people can still know that they are protected from intentional trolls.

Also, I think that if the party leader suggests a kick, it should be seconded only by one more person. If the kick is suggested by someone else, two more players should approve it.

I was thinking the same, actually: I would totally get that outfit, if I were able to hide the shoulders. Since the separate armor pieces allow us to hide the shoulders, it would be greatly appreciated if the outfits did the same. Or if smaller shoulders would be designed for the female version. The Shadow Assassin outfit had huge shoulders on male and small cute ones for female.

In general, I think that more people would buy the outfits if the shoulders were optional. As it is now, with the crazy gold-to-gem conversion, many of us would buy it with real money. But now, instead, I am going to pass on this one and wait for the next outfit.

Getting it Just Right (Characters)

I have abandonded several fully geared level 80 characters, mostly because I wanted a different race. Now they are used as storage characters or kept for that unlikely time that I would like to play anything else but guardian in WvW.

Sylvari necro, female lvl 80. This was my first and only character for many months. With full ascended trinkets, weapons and lvl 50 fractals, back when everything was soulbound. After trying countless colors, armor + weapons combinations and posting on several forums crying for a race change, I gave up and made a human female necro., lvl 80. I am keeping the human as a berserker character for whenever Anet gets necros a buff. The sylvari is gathering all the malicious armors I get from fractals and at some point I might do WvW with her.

Sylvari male mesmer, fully geared lvl 80. First he became female sylvari, then I made a human female characer and deleted him alltogether. I just needed a free character slot and knew I would never play the first mesmer. I am barely playing the other one either, because of the current mantra meta.

Human male ranger, lvl 80 all ascended. He was female, then male again, and now I have settled for female. But I also made a female norn ranger just because I wanted the medium Tier 3 armor. I like leveling rangers and this norn is now very usefull chopping wood

Asura male engineer, deleted at lvl 12. Norn female engineer, deleted at lvl 30. I cannot get into that class.

Basically I only enjoy playing human female characters. My only norn is a female guardian, but she is the shortest and skinniest possible and looks like a slightly taller human. And I cannot handle playing asuras nor charrs.

I have a sylvari female guardian, abandoned at lvl 36. I wanted the Tier 3 heavy armor, but she does not have a very bright future.

Considering this is a high end item, I was surprised that it required only 5 pristine fractal relics. It should have been at least 10, like the ascended rings do.

You can see this from my point of view as well. I spend most of my game time doing fractals. And I had to suffer through the mindless geode, dragonite and foxfire farming.

Doing 5 level 1 fractals with a group of friends is nothing compared to the hours spent in Dry Top and its annoying jumping skills.

And if people cannot figure out how to get to the end of a jumping puzzle, without having to do the jumping themselves, maybe they don’t really deserve to have a special backpiece.

I can grind Foxfire, Geodes, and Jumping Puzzles by myself. I don’t have to count on someone else and someone else doesn’t have to count on me. I can do it at my own pace. Fractals I cannot. I don’t have to listen to someone insult me, rage-quit, or boot me.

Here’s another thing – you’re biased in this because you do these things everyday and probably have a group you run with. It’s a comfortable thing for you.

What about new players, or returning players (like myself). I don’t have a group I can run with. I haven’t even set foot in a Dungeon in 2 years, anyone I played with quit around the same time I did and no longer play.

No one wants to PUG a Fractal, least of all with a virtual noob who has never done one. Even looking on LFG for simple Dungeon runs every single one of them is “Exp. 80’s Zerker or kick” basically. Fractals on LFG are the same.

Maybe you’re stuck in a bubble with regards to this game as you’ve reached a comfort level – so I’ll let you in on a secret, as someone who would have to ‘pug’ group content – the Guild Wars 2 community is horrible by and large.

This is not a single player game so some kind of group play has to be expected. Even though I have access to plenty of people to do fractals with, I PUG them quite often.

If you make your own LFG and state that you are a beguinner, noone is going to rage at you nor insult you. Plenty of people just like you are trying to get the relics.

You can also join a guild and people there will help you through some fractal runs.

I think for many people the word Fractal generates some sort of mental block and they don’t even want to try it.

I just made the backpiece and wanted to leave some feedback as well.

*I really loved the scavenger hunt and that it took me to places that I hadn’t visited in years.

*It was great that it needed so few ectos to get an infused version of it and that it gave use to forgotten materials such as fractal relics, charged ctystals, bloodstone dust etc.

*It was awesome that we could choose the stats ourselves.

*It was a bit annoying that it required 4 crafts mostly because of the item transfering between characters.

*I also believe that geodes and foxfire should have been added to the collection because getting them all in one place from all the characters was a pain.

*I did however hate a lot the timegated food, lamp and clay pot, especially the food since we needed so many of them. That stuff should have been made account bound.

*The geode farming was a nightmare, I believe some of the recepies should have been purchasable with Badges of Honor instead.

And if people cannot figure out how to get to the end of a jumping puzzle, without having to do the jumping themselves, maybe they don’t really deserve to have a special backpiece.

While I agree that top PVP players should get a special reward for their effords, I strongly believe that there should be a correspondant set for the people that prefer PVE.

I was giving a random example. I wasn’t even trying to find an equivalent as I do not find any merit in winning a pvp tournament.

So there we have it. You hate PvP and you are simply bitter that you cannot get something you want by playing an aspect of the game (and a major one) you dislike.
Next time, just come outright with it so everyone can save time with useless arguments.

I am not bitter and I do not hate pvp. I have quite high rank there as well. The news of an exclusive pvp amor made me think that we need a similar for pve as well. That is it. My arguments are not useless and I will keep on defending my position.

I don’t see why such a set’s existance would upset other people. Every person’s ingame activities have a merit, be it winning a pvp tournament or gathering 50 000 Arah tokens. Neither is worth more than the other.

It’s funny. You say that ascended armor only requires time, then when you try to find a PvE equivalent to a PvP tournament, you come up with “50 000 arah tokens”.

I was giving a random example. I wasn’t even trying to find an equivalent as I do not find any merit in winning a pvp tournament.

It is as simple as that: PVE needs a special armor set that people can work towards, regardless of how others deem this game mode’s prestige, difficulty level etc.

Prestige PvE armor should be tied to extremely difficult and skillful content, not based around RNG or grinding.

Currently there’s absolutely nothing in PvE that would justify implementation of this kind of an exclusive armor.

Winning sPvP tournament requires great dedication, skill and effort, contrary to using your credit card on gems or getting lucky using mystic forge.

In my opinion there should be more exclusive sPvP and WvW armors to reward the most dedicated players.

There are plenty of extremely dedicated PVE players and our preferred choice of gameplay should not be belittled nor deprive us of more elite rewards.

I will try to explain this a little better, because people seem to get hung up on the: “let’s take away the special reward from the poor pvpers” and get deffensive. This is not the point of this topic.

With the new feature pack Anet is introducing two new PVP armors

1) One regular set that you can obtain by playing pvp and anyone who follows the reward track can get it. That is awesome and I am happy that pvpers can entertain themselves with it.

2) A special set that 10 to 20 players will win through an external tournament. A set that happens to have awesome looks and that none of you will ever be able to lay your hands on it.

In the mean time, PVE is flooded with a variety of armor skins that mean nothing.

And we are discussing ARMORS, not weapons, mini’s or other random stuff.

Again…it means nothing to YOU..maybe to others they feel a sense of accomplishment when they finally get lucky with RNG or bust their tails off farming keys to finally unlock a skin they want…That means something to a lot of players, just not to you

And you still haven’t answered, where is anet going to put such a prestigious PvE armor set if they were to add it???? there’s nothing REMOTELY challenging or prestigous in PvE… I’ve seen plenty of videos of people soloing dungs and soloing lvl 50 fracs lol..(of course both of these things require skill and a lot of practice, but be real, anet isn’t going to add prestigious award based on soloing dungs/fracs..)

Those people are farming keys ot unlock a WEAPON skin. A weapon is not an armor. Once you have unlocked several special skins for all weapon types, you want to improve your armor’s looks as well. And yes, you are right, it doesn’t mean anything to me to unlock a black lion weapon skin, that can be purchased from the TP for 60 gold.

It is not my place to propose how a prestigeous armor should be acquired. I am just stating that me and many others will be highly interested in obtaining one of those. There could be a complicated scavanger hunt, new crafting recipes, a new harder dungeon, higher fractal tiers. Anything!

You cannot have prestige from PvE gear because PvE gear is not about player skill but about character stats (i.e. it isn’t a competition with others, but a competition with math).

What passes for difficulty in PvE is just memorizing exactly what to do and when, something which watching a video once or twice can accomplish for you.

PvP actually separates good players from bad players which allows rewards to be exclusive and prestigious.

If you are playing a game for prestige, then you need to be playing PvP. If you are playing a game for fun, then you need to be playing whatever you find to be fun and not caring about what is going on in the areas that you don’t find fun.

I’d like to add that if he is attempting to play PVE for prestige, he should be working on [Eternity] and not worrying about some armor skin.

She already has Eternity and many other legendaries and expensive weapons. Now that I am satisfied with the weapons on all my alts, I would like to have some really special armor. That is not too much to ask and I am sure that there are plenty of people would appreciate it too. I know several people crafting the Minstrel and other random not-so-special legendaries, because they want special items but nothing else is available.

LoL, almost every new armor skin anet has released has been exclusively PvE…
You think PvPers have ANY chance at all of getting those nice skins in gemstore (without paying real $$)?? At least PvErs , you farm gold/keys and get them and slowly aquire them… but for PvPers to get them? no chance unless they step outside the Mists and actually do PvE stuff, which mind, you is boring to most PvPers…

There isn’t something as prestigious as winning a competitive PvP tournament in the PvE side of this game yet… and there won’t be because
a) Casuals are the majority group in PvE
b) If difficult content is added to PvE and that is obviously where such prestigious armor skins would be locked behind, majority of the casual care bears would cry up a storm on these forums and directly to anet about how its too hard to get such prestigious armor.

If anet adds exclusive armor skins to PvE, thats great, I got nothing against it, I just don’t see how it will be implemented because gemstore skins are what actually brings money to anets pocket so most new skins for PvErs will always just come from gemstore..

At some point they will have to implement it because you cannot keep the players interest in the game only via gemstore skins.

Ascended armor is not hard to obtain, it is just annoying. And there is absolutely nothing special about it. As a person with two full heavy sets, two full light sets and plenty of useless healer’s armor boxes in the bank, I would like to see a more special and meaningfull set.

You cannont expect people to be satisfied with the horrible heavy ascended armor, and at the same time release a really beautiful heavy set obtainable only via the external PVP tournaments.

And how would you obtain that special and meaningful set ?
Complete every dungeon ?
Waste huge amount of cash ?
Extreme RNG ?

And ascended armor have been in the game for more than 8 months. During that time PvP didn’t get anything at all. Who knows, maybe Anet will release something for PvE.
Another ugly set bought from the gemstore probably.

And are we even sure that we’ve seen the Glorious hero armor ? The one the protoss sylvari is wearing could be the one you can obtain through the reward track.

It is up to Anet to decide how the set is being obtained. Most likely the same way as with legendary weapons. I do not care how it is done, as long as some special armor is introduced.

I saw the exclusive tournament heavy armor in one of the Ready Up episodes, they previewed it dyed in abyss and looked amazing. The sylvari on the photo has different dies on it.

I think a fractal armor set (maybe having similar looks as its weapons) would be a good idea.

I also agree that wvw needs a couple more ‘exclusive’ sets as well. Something to work towards, to make badges worthwhile, etc.

I don’t disagree with the OP though, pve would need its own ‘exclusive’ set as well. That could come in the form of legendary armor, the return of FoW armor, harder world bosses getting a full set of droppable armor (like wurm slayer, but being a complete set, which anet could still do), etc.

Then each mode, or major game play component, would offer something “worth chasing.” (Theoretically) Just as we once desired to chase FoW armor, or Vabbian armor, etc.

This is a very reasonable position for this forum.

I don’t understand why people feel the need to turn this into another “us vs them” war, I play all modes (badly) and I don’t begrudge sPVP getting an exclusive set of armour but the “exclusive” PVE armour sets were the dungeon sets which were always accessible through sPVP. So them adding sPVP armour is a good first step but I think they really should add additional “prestige” sets for WvW, PVE and fractals. Which they may be planning on doing in the next few feature packs. (I’m still kinda hoping we’ll see a WvW exclusive set this feature pack though).

The difference is that the so-called exclusive dungeon skins were within anyone’s reach. Especially in the early days of the game, you could get a full dungeon set in a couple of days. Now, you need a week to do so.

The new exclusive pvp armor is accessible only to a handfull of players that get invited to a special tournament. And nobody is denying them their special reward. We are asking for something special for the people that play PVE.

There are no special and hard to obtain armors in PVE that you can work towards to.

Once again : Ascended armor. Yes, grinding for cash and mats is hard. The only difference with a legendary is that you don’t have to pray to the RNG god.

Too bad Anet completely messed up the design, but hey, if we go back through the thread, a good number of posters actually loved those sets.

PVE has unique items that can only be obtained in PVE.

[Weapons of the Sunless]
[WupWup Weapons]
[Every Legendary]

But the moment an armor skin gets put as an incentive for PVP, tables start flipping?

All the exclusivity was tipped in PVE’s favor before. There were many items in the PVE aspect that simply could not be gained in PVP, and of the ones that could be gained in PVP, a dedicated dungeon runner could do it faster.

Now there is a reason to play PVP, if only to aggravate people that won’t set foot in it at all.
’Cause actually having fun losing your way to armor apparently is still too hard to endure.

All unique items that you mention are weapons. We are discussing armors here. There are no special and hard to obtain armors in PVE that you can work towards to. The first time such a set is being introduced in the game, it is being reserved for 10-20 players that happen to win some tournament that noone cares about. It seems like an total waste of resourses.

People are farming like crazy right now, trying to get a silly backpiece that does not fit most of the races aesthetics. Imagine how much more they will play the game, if there actually was an awesome and elite armor set to work for.

Penguin listed the only “armor set” that is pve exclusive afaik. And it’s not a full set.

I would also love to see a fractal armor set, acquirable only in fractals (not as a pvp reward track!) And have it have obscene requirements so that it feels like a journey. I’d also like to see a similar one tied to wvw. But again… a FULL armor set. Not just gloves shoulders and boots.

Ascended gear boxes are gotten through pvp rewards so that doesn’t exactly count. But the wurm armor, while on the right track, is not exactly what I think we all have in mind when we think of exclusive prestige armor, because getting it is such awful RNG.

I agree completely about an armor set aquireable only from fractals.

Maybe some people consider the wurm armor special enough, but for me it is a horrible reskin of a horrible set to beguin with. Also it is tied to RNG. I want to be able to craft my armor in the Mystic Forge or collect tokens for it, not hoping that I randomly get it by daily repeating the same event with a chance of failure.

As I said before, there is nothing special about the Ascended Armors. They only require time to be crafted, nothing else. On top of that, most people were hugely displeased with their aesthetics and instantly reskinned them.

But it does require exactly what you wanted the PvE exclusive set to require. As stated in your original post:

I wish Anet would introduce an equally prestegius armor set, that could be craftable through PVE rewards and activities. I wouldn’t even mind paying 100 pristine relics per piece.

The Ascended Armor sets require either getting lucky and getting chests from specific content.
Or being crafted, which require doing multiple types of specific content.

They exist even if you don’t like them.

This was merely a suggestion from my part. Basically, if I say:

*let the new armor come from a really hard new dungeon, people will isntantly say that no dungeon will ever be hard enough, blah blah blah. And I will keep getting references to old GW1 dungeons that are completely irrelevant to this game.

*if I mention a scanvenger hunt, like the one for the new backpiece, I will instantly get the replies about spamming 11111 on world bosses.

*my crafting suggestion brought the ascended armor replies.

*and then, of course, there is the crazy grinding part. But for something harder to obtain, instead of geodes. That’s why I suggested the pristine fractal relics.

What we basically need is legendary armor.

I am not saying that PVP people should not have a special set! I am merely asking for a special PVE set. After all, this is the game mode that most people are playing. Seems like a huge waste of resourses to please 10-20 people that will ever get to obtain that specially designed exclusive skin.

What armors do we have in PVE now?

*easy to obtain dungeon armor sets.
*even easier to obtain karma sets.
*gemstore skins
*named sets from the TP that sell for 1 gold a piece

Ranger armor stats for Fractals

I have been doing way too many fractals 49 on my guardian and warrior, so I decided to start doing them on ranger. My usual armor set is berzerker with ranger runes, but I would also like to have a backup set for nasty situations.

Can any experienced Fractal ranger advice me on what stats could be nice, to give some more survivability but still keep the damage up. I have been considering knight’s or cavalier’s but can’t really make my mind.

Thanks for the help in advance

More slick and elegant weapon skins please!

IceVyper.6810

As someone who has way too many hours logged in the game, with 10 alts that need the perfect combination of nice looking weapons and armor, I often struggle with finding suitable weapons.

I was having real issues with daggers until the ascended skins were released and I fell in love with the white colored skins.

But the real struggle still remains for me and it is with the swords. Five of my chracters use that weapon but there are not enough slick weapons with nice texture, so I have to recycle skins. Add to that, that I grow tired of skins pretty quickly (unless it is something really shiny and required a lot of effort to acquire). So, what is the real issue with the skins that are available:

Bonetti’s rapier - while it is elegant, with nice color and slick movements, it is also way too common, really cheap to get and has no particle effects. I know many people like that, but I need my weapons to be shiny.

Lovestruck sword - once we got tired of the rapier, this sword was released. The problem is that it is shorter, the color is too matte, making it look cheaper. The pink glow makes it usefull only for a certain type of characters.

Fractal sword - the one that everyone lusts for and grinds fractals like crazy. But what happens when you manage to get it fairly early in the game, and have acquired 3 more of it till now. All my characters have been weilding it for years, and I am dying to get something different.

Whisperblade - slick and shiny pink sword. It is pink, and without the glow it is just a regular simple iron sword. If you already have the Vision of the mists, its appeal gets even smaller.

Jormag’s breath - the first “expensive” weapon I crafted. It is incredible how quickly one can grow tired of that constantly moving blue flame.

I am purposely excluding Infinite Light - because it is insanely expensive to craft and looks way too ordinary.

What is left? A small selection of cheap and average looking swords.

And why does the sword have to be thin? It is my personal preferance. While I enjoy wealding a giant broad greadsword, I believe the one handed sword needs to be elegant. But the recently released skins (in the past 6 months) have all had a combination of oversized weapons with unappealing textures. The Dragon Jade and Phoenix weapons look like plastic, The Lay Line are glowing stones, The Ambrite are too big, without effects. With the Sovereign Skins I feel that my character is using a piece of a shiny temple wall as a weapon.

I really look forward to the time when Anet will release a sword that is thin, has a slight curve and a glow (anything but fire). Tera has some really nice looking swords though.

I also find it hard to find a descend looking scepter. The ascended ones are pretty cool but also easy to grow tired of. The Mistforged hero scepter is filling the void for now.

I am however very satisfied with the selection of greatswords, staffs and longbows.

Great innitiative that will be fun to watch

It has never been easier to collect dragonite ore as it is now, and 3 weeks is more than enough time to craft armor pieces that increase your agony resistance.

Setting the level at 50 is a good choice, because it leaves the organisators with a manageable amount of teams judge.
