As for big Guilds (50+), I don’t see the problem why they don’t transfer already, they have enough people to get influence back quite quickly and get some upgrades again.
I mean, we’re only a month into the game, it won’t really hurt you much.

Snowball effect, simple as that.
There arnt many mechanisms in place that are anti-snowball.
It’s more or less the fact that when one server does well early on, the other servers tend to give up.
You come to a point where the ones who give up quit or leave, or whatever the kittencat they do. Then you will be left with the core members of WvW who do and don’t know the word giving up. That is what has happened in RoS, we are now left with a resilient sort of force who doesn’t know the word giving up.

I love how in every single matchup posted, the #1 servers outscored the #2 and #3 servers combined.
And is this because:
1) the matchup was uneven to begin with, or
2) once one team got a decent lead the other 2 gave upI know that the IoJvsFAvsSoS match was close until mid-week and then went lopsided. If what I’ve heard is true though its more because a number of US guilds transferred to IoJ (which has a strong Oceanic base).
1) Yes, it was COMPLETELY uneven!, the amount of people Dzagonur had equaled when we fought Far Shiverpeaks!
2) We(RoS) NEVER gave up, the ones who gave up left long ago, before our current matchup.
3) We’re still looking for guilds to populate the other 2 borderlands ;^) AND a proper night crew.

I’ve noticed the rams didn’t get destroyed by the cata behind the door And the ram was quite close to the gate i must say. SO we can conclude the cata’s behind doors don’t destroy rams ?

We’re forced to abandon 2 BL because of our low population and our own is usually only half full and the commander tag doesn’t work there.
But we can do some nice work in EB… In primetime. They usually just cap it back during the night and upgrade it completely. which we then always destroy later

You obviously haven’t thought enough about those ideas. How would people do combo’s when AoE skills became friendly fire ? You would screw it all up.

First off,I’m from RoS, we’re fighting Dzagonur and Fissure of Woe. Dzagonur recently got lot’s players they have activity at all times, especially night times. What happens is they take everything during the night and upgrade it all. During the day we have to take everything from our corner back (which has worked everytime except once when a certain commander*cough* didn’t want to play that day because of some reasons) When that is done, we then take anzalias (we’re green, and FoW is red, but we’re second and blue, Dzagonur has a tremendous lead) which is usually blue. Then we try to take other blue upgraded structures and try to destroy their upgrades. We also take Quentin lake, it’s always fun to destroy a fully fortified tower
and then we try to keep Blue busy. Meanwhile FoW gets the opportunity to get some of their lands back. It doesn’t matter if we still have anzalias or not. Instead of going for the blues, FoW has every time tried to invade us, or take our supply camps, I have NEVER seen them take a camp or tower in blue corner.
Not counting the Castle, we usually manage to take 2/5,1/2 and once even 2/3 of EB (I say not counting castle).
But because our population is low, our own borderlands then suffer because of it.
Now your “1v1” Idea is equally flawed, what would happen when Dzagonur were to be put against FoW like now ?
They would focus ALL of their forces on FoW, FoW would never be able to retake a tower. Maybe a camp here and there.
Oh and mind you, we’re fighting Dzago who have 3 orbs every time, while we have 0.

I know it sucks to lose all that influence. But you should be able to start over and slowly get enough influence.
Btw if you’re planning to PvE, you’re gonna have a hard time unless more transfer.

Say for example there is a keep under attack. It needs it supply line, let’s say it is hills. And you put 5 people to defend 1 camp or a dolyak while the rest defends. The enemy sends 5 people and they have 10%+10% buff and they wipe you. They take camp, your keep has no incoming supply and now the supervisor has a 4 min buff too and you have those 5 people defending it. You would need to send a force of 10 people after 4 minutes, just to take over that camp, when the 5 could have been more useful taking other camps. Thanks to that, you might even lose the keep.
In small ways the 10%+10% buff will have a big influence.

I would like to propose that you guys invade the Blue corner of EB instead of coming our way (RoS) whenever you manage to push back Blue, which happens when we’re busy fighting blue. I love taking their fully upgraded towers.
Frankly, I would love to create an alliance between our servers.

pay to win is where you can get an advantage by paying real money over players that cant.
or to put it another way, when you can buy power
since this game has no subscription, things like XP boosts and karma boosts are just getting more out of their playtime, which im okay with.
damage boosts on the otherhand are quite litrally buying power.i ask you this, if those “pay to win” games you were talking about, with being 1000% better, if they had a “gold to gem” system like GW2, would they stop being pay to win instantly? no matter how much power was buyable?
also, at what % would you say the boosts are then pay to win?
10%? 100%? 1,000,000% extra dmg? if it’s buyable with gold, is that okay?
if buying 1,000,000% more damage with gems, even if it’s also buyable with gold is buying power, isnt 5% also buying power, just to a much lesser extent?yes, you are right, it is not major, but it still goes against them saying that they would not sell power.
Except the advantage is available to all. So it’s still not pay-to-win.

Except that people who have money and are willing to use it can buy it a lot more than the ones who can’t. If having real money and spending it starts having an effect in in game stats, especially in pvp, such as WvW then that becomes Pay 2 Win, no matter how “small” it is. Fact still is, 10% reduced damage intake and 10% increased damage output will give you a huge advantage when fighting others in WvW. Sure it’ll have less effect in zergs, but when you go raiding with a small party, that 10%+10% has a huge effect.
I find is preposterous that they said that it wouldn’t become pay to win, and then they put this in. I wouldn’t mind it as much if they made it PvE only, but in PvP it is basically lying and false advertisement.

So now that the newmatchups have happened, how badly is night capping wrecking your server?

To give an explanation to what Perea said:
RoS was doing good initially, we were a good server and we would own a lot of the map (like 350-450 points) during primetime, but our night crew was non-existant, We had some queue in EB and our own borderlands sometimes. Sometimes even in another BL. But because the enemies started to Night cap, we would wake up seeing it all blue or all red, etc…
So during our first week long matchup, the bigger WvW oriented guilds left to vabbi mostly and more followed. After that there were few ppl left, and then even PvE’rs left because there are hardly people in the maps now.
Then we started to get ourkitten handed to us, fighting Whiteside Ridge and Drakkar lake, both with a way bigger player base AND WvW base than us.
A few of us got together, some small guilds transfered in because they didn’t like the queue on the bigger servers.
We got 3 commanders now (3 transfered away), around 6-7 Pretty active but small guilds, around 5-9 people each that are active ? But we managed to have a 3minute queue in EB for a bit, but our own BL got empty, we barely manage to fill 1 and a half map, the others are practically empty besides 5 or so people each who like to PvE or ninja capture camps.
On top of all that, Dzagonur and Millers Sounds’s WvW base have decided to stay in 1 server and in the bottom ranked Tier matchup, during previous matchup they were in Miller’s Sound, now they’re all in Dzagonur.
We still have no night crew.
But besides all that, we managed to take half of EB yesterday, and the peopl in RoS BL managed to atleast take the garrison and the 2 towers.
FoW only seems to do good enough when we’re hitting Dzagonur, but for some reason they decide to come for us instead of Dzago, so we stopped helping them out and just took their keep

I’m guessing you are either in Ruins of Surmia or Fissure of Woe (is there another server like that ? Ring of fire maybe ?)
We had our biggest guilds leave, most of the WvW oriented then left because the others left, we were left with 2-3 small WvW oriented guilds. (RoS)
Having bought a commander, we now have 3 commanders in total trying to be on all the time and not let them steamroll us.
On top of that, Millers Sound and Dzagonur people are abusing the Free transfers. They went together in previous matchup and all went to Millers sound, when Millers sound went up a rank they all went to Dzagonur to steamroll the servers with already very low population.
I find that very frustrating that they are allowed to do so. Let free transfers be allowed but stop them from playing WvW for atleast 4 days, not just 24 or the remainder of the current matchup, because they could just transfer the day before the matchup changes.

The orb bonus needs to change to something like the undermanned one so people will want to have the orb and that the strong servers don’t get even more overpowered.

That is not the end of it, They now have moved from Miller’s Sound over to Dzagonur to stay in the lowest ranked matchup, they are overzerging both FoW and RoS who already have a very low population.
