For starters we can all agree that Arborstone has way more people than RoS and WSR both. And yet RoS is winning against AS and WSR.
So we are definitely more skillful in this matchup than AS.
Since we are have better fighting skills it wouldn’t be surprising to have better fighting skill than WSR too. I would say RoS has about the same amount of numbers as WSR.

WvW IS on decline. Compared to last year thats not even a question. Now the action concentrated on few top servers, while still attendance is incomparable to what was before. Before WXP patch one could join maps without queu in prime time in tier 1….

The “metagame” changed too – all big alliances left, there is no real hardboiled competition there was before: form of WvW fighting changed, became more “casual” maybe – since there are no previous goals at stake: you`ll not prove anything right now by “wining” WvW.

So yeah, a lot of people/guilds burnd out length ago and left for other games, however the influx of new players still maintains WvW alive, thankfully – though its nothing comparable to madness and types and complexity of fight and depth of metagame that were in BWEs/after release (just my personal opinion as organizer of one of a biggest wvw forces, i did not play for long and just checked a game again, so might not have full insight in current situation).

Sadly, evolutionary changes, like WXP, culling fix etc. will not bring players back. Need real whole load of new content – something like full WvW expansion with new maps, new mechanics, new siege weapons.

People did not leave WvW because it was imperfect or broken – far from it, it was very enjoyable with every state, even with 4h queues, all things that werent fixed than etc. People left since they were doing essentially same thing for multiple months – and that gets old.

I believe even if nothing is done, as long as GW2 as whole will have nice number of players, WvW will be fine – however i dont see it ever coming back on a level of glorious wars of the past. It became far more casual in most aspects – maybe thats what Developers actually wanted.

WHILE on the other hand the lower tiers are now seeing a lot more action than before. Even before the WXP patch.

lol it’s so easy to interrupt and the ele’s are pretty much sitting ducks.

I have to add that we’re also looking for a guild group who are willing to defend enemy keeps we have acquired against big odds. Any takers ?

Yeah I’m pretty sure i was there too, Remember when I talked us having a queue for first time since 4 weeks ? Yeah that’s when we had queue, not that map though and on a different occasion (when i took that zerg to EB)

For NA: You should join FC or ET, all 3 points should apply for you there. You will help improve the server and you can find nr 1 and 2 pretty much everywhere.

You could come to my server RoS.
Since you will be playing at our night you will be helping us out ALOT. Nr 3 would be very high. But since it’s the night, it will be be harder to find people. BUT if you can esstablish yourself as a proper nighttime guild you could bolster your ranks.

Actually they’ve split up, few went to vabbi, others to FSP, and some to SFR. There’s like 3 of the scouts in Surmia oh and some decided to stay on GH.

Following the free transfers to Med population servers until 1 april, servers have been posting to recruit people to their servers so we decided to also use this opportunity to recruit some people to our server.

Ruins of Surmia is a server that has seen it’s share of people leaving the server. Back at the start when the 1 week started an alliance left because we didn’t have enough coverage, especially at night. Many times we were outmanned but we persevered, never giving we managed to tier up and to tier down again. Once again an alliance transfered to us but soon after they also left us, but we are thankful for them because thanks to them the original guilds had the chance to gain more experience and get better. We tiered up because of the alliance then we dropped down again. Now we are on the verge of tiering up again and this time without any outside help.

We are a server of a close group of playered who have been battle-hardened through many outmanned experiences, one week we were even ranked last but slowly we are raising in ranks.
We are NOT looking to go any higher that t5, we don’t even need to go that far. T7 would be nice enough for us, staying in the current tier however is very boring, being outmanned a lot of the times we tend to seek out battles where we are outmanned because those are the best battles you can get.

Such as any other server we also have(had) our fair share of drama in here but we don’t let it get the best of us.
Our community is close through all the battles and we have nice teamwork.
We are still organizing though, only recently did we start a public teamspeak. We also have a community forum for our server: http://ruinsofsurmia.enjin.com

Ever since the beginnings of times our night time coverage has always been lacking. On normal days 5-10 people is the best you can hope for. The last few days we did have around 10-15 people online at night thanks to the new patch but it will die down and we will need a proper night-time coverage team. For the current tier, what we have works but it will definitely be lacking when go up a tier. This is our main priority.
But that doesn’t mean we aren’t looking for people during primetime, because we are. Being third lowest populated server of EU we lack players and during primetime we often get outmanned.

Our server has many but small WvW guilds. The biggest ones are DEX, GoA and PG. But there are also many smaller ones who pull more than their own weight in number such as TH, ELDa, FA, etc… (sorry if I didn’t mention you, there are just too many).

That said and done, certain guilds will run raids or lead pugs, or even do both at the same time. We have an abundance of commanders who will take care of the pugs. We have a healthy mix of pug and guild groups although we COULD use more organized guild groups, small or big.

We also hardly EVER have Queues in RoS. The last queue was coincidentally yesterday but it didn’t last more than 2 mins and it was pretty much our whole force because Blacktide were in big numbers in our BL. The queue before that dated about 3-4 weeks prior.

TL;dr:
-> RoS is for bravehearts who want to fight against huge odds
-> no queues
-> Need night time players
-> Guild groups and non-guild players welcome.
-> public TS and community site
-> Every kind of guilds for every kind of people
-> Commanders who know what they’re doing (most of the time :p) for your average pug.
-> Not looking to go any higher than t5.

I believe Xaoc has pretty much split up. For their own interest they should just change tags and let the Xaoc tag die down.
Start over with a clean slate.

Until April 1 Transfers to medium population servers are Free.
The real medium servers in NA atm are FC and ET they are currently in t8.
They would probably loves to have you. A warning though, everyone in the GW2 community who reads these forums can attest that they whine too much -_-
There are other servers who DO become medium servers on off-peak hours.
HoD is one of them. Apprently a few more t7 servers become medium population too on certain moments.

Laurels are some sort of currency that you get awarded for doing “dailies” and “monthlies” (those certain random set of “quests” you need to finish before the day/month ends to complete).
You can exchange the laurels in LA near the WvW portals at the bottom. Be carefull though you can only get 1 laurel a day and about 40-41 a month so be careful what you spend them on.

Well as far as I can tell about the high population on the server it does come to my attention that every guild i know has the same problem as in having to deal with mayor clean ups because some people stopped playing Guild Wars all together for not finding it fun any more. Which makes it look like we got a lot of persons registered in our server. As for the remaining people who still are playing the game the mayority isn’t in wvw.

As for the overflow when dragons come on Ilesyt it is because of guesting not because of the high population, just like Herr der Friedhoefe said.

Then a medium server like mine would have overflows on dragons too, which we don’t, EVER.

You never did like listening to reality. We run just fine in the Prime Time, but we don’t have enough for 24/7 which is why we can’t hold out in T7. You’ll get your chance next and I can’t wait to meet Surmia again.

No Ilesyt, we aren’t any more PvE focused than any other server. We can run large groups on more than one map during prime time, but we lack 24/7 coverage. You’ll see it for yourself again next week because you’ll be in the same position when you face Gunnar’s and your old friends the Dzags.

I’m sure we’ll be hearing from you again about how unfair it is that the Dzags always double team you.

You’re the second lowest Very high server. If you’re not more PvE focused than some other servers then you guys must be bad. RoS has been lacking 24/7 coverage since day one, nothing new there.

As far as I can say it accounts for the amount of people that are online because sometimes during off-peak hours some server would be rated on a lower pop scale.

But yeah , RoF is probably more PvE focused.

And if you have the supply buff you should be able to get 16, 18, 20 supply

Except that it’s not gonna happen like that because the free transfers are only to med pop servers, in NA being ET, HoD and FC the only ones at time to be medium.

1) you have to considder the bigger picture. It’s not all about WvW, there’s also PvE and sPvP. Any server is at some sort of a disadvantage when it’s medium when you compare it to high or very high. The guesting has helped in this but it’s not like the temples in a low populated are open as many times as they are on higher populated servers. Opening transfers to Lower populated servers helps out those servers.

For now this tag in GW2 belongs to completely incompetent and inadequate people (I mean current leaders in GW2). You should not be deceived by the name of this tag and personally I wouldn’t recommend to count on this guild.

Their main problem is lack of communication with existing communities. I think it would be best if they went somewhere that didn’t have one, in order to avoid another situation like this.

They tried that before with Vabbi lol.

Then they’ll fit right in because we got 5-10 people covering the whole zones from 1-6 am gmt.
And that’ll allow us to fight more during the day!

Before you considder Surmia you should know a couple of things.
For starters we won’t push you away nor try to pull you in to Surmia.
Then if you DO decide to come we want you to come with the mindset of staying till the end of times. Even if it gets tough and believe me, it WILL. If you’re gonna transfer away just because it got tougher then don’t even bother.

At Surmia we have a close group of Guilds who work together and get on a public teamspeak (it recently started so work is still in progress). Many of the guilds do their thing to how it works best for them but considdering a certain strategy. If you join you can do your thing but we ask you to help out when we need it, getting on the public teamspeak helps in the communication. We don’t have big guilds here either. Neither are we looking to go up to the top. We wouldn’t mind going up a tier or 2 till around t5. We also have NO nightcrew (5-10 people).
So if you want to transfer to Surmia, we want you to think about that first.
Besides all the scary stuff up there we work together very well. Guild groups are still in development and growing but our pugs are doing really well too.

Oh and 1 more thing, if you decide to transfer try to bring a night crew ? We’re lacking in that spot :p

Today was fun defended briar and Lake for HOURS agains WSR and BT Breakout events, lost briar once before and then lake and briar again eventually but BT had to pay up over 50 cata and several other siege before they were able to take the towers. And I kid you not they used over 50 catas!
Destroy WSR zerg attacks on our keeps and 6 golems but evntually had to give up briar a first time.

What was less enjoyable was certain hacktiders hacking into keeps;
This is the first they did and got into RoS Hills into lord room, keep was never lost from reset. All gates and walls were up. Sadly i can’t fraps on this laptop:

Funny thing is they were already wiped by lord when I got there. They’re so bad that they can even get keeps with hacks.

And then when we took over BT bl, these same hacktiders got into garrison where when i arrived they ALL vanished into thin air:

I’m from an EU Server, currently in t8. Our daytime coverage is nice but our nighttime coverage is lacking there’s about 5-6 people on at night and it just isn’t enough against our enemies, we keep getting nightcapped. So if you want to fight outmanned and want to matter and you can handle a few hits then you should join Ruins of Surmia!
Our community is nice and we have a public teamspeak.
If you got money to spare, try us out :p
Oh and feel free to bring a few friends, we could use some more to atleast cover our bl and EB >_>

Having fought Dzagonur for 3 Weeks I will tell you that I have no doubt RoF are being double teamed.
That doesn’t mean that there is an alliance, no.
It happens that the first ranked team can do whatever they want.
But Dzagonur WILL go for the easier points MOST of the time. You take MS’s focus off of them Dzagonur will focus you. Helping Dzago will always bite you in the kitten don’t expect any help from them.
Hell if you’re Miller’s Sound, Dzago will come in to get in YOUR way and helping Miller’s Sound and that’s not because they’re German too, but because Dzago are dirty like that.

This week didn’t go quite the way i predicted. I was thinki ROS as strong as ROF but it really seems ROS numbers gone down alot. Maybe this is WSR’s strenght: On other servers ppl come and go but WSR have “the root” guilds. Hopefully we can keep this up next week and have a go for t7.

It might have seemed we had a lot of numbers but when I was commanding I moved the zerg to a lot maps. I’d hear bay was being Golem rushed with an omega and 2 alpha’s I’d rush there straight away and then move back to EB and shortly after Rush BT Garrison.
That might have caused you to think we had a lot of number which we actually don’t.
But it’s true some are taking a break but we won’t beat BT or WSR in numbers I can assure you that, especially not WSR lol.

Yeah RoS has few people and we also rely on our Upgraded keeps to help us defend, and since you guys can night cap us because we don’t have enough people at night (5 on average…), it becomes harder for us to defend with the few people we got at day.

Startin making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and then Dzagonur also came
They started bullying us one by one and made us lose our game.
I took my friends and went into their borderlands.
I made a swift attack and their garrison turned hands.
So I went to defend Eternal battlegrounds,
because the hyleks were too big a force for both the hounds.

So I begged and pleaded with them day after day
But they kept coming and we kept sending them on their way
We gave them a kiss and a ticket to their spawn.
But then both of them came again so Mendons and Ogrewatch were gone.

AAANYWAY, Millers do whatever they want cause they’re first, It’s Dzagonur who play the dirty game and have ALWAYS played the dirty game. They’re cheap and dirty and quite the cowards.

If you want to know the situation of RoS:
As you know our situation is to back to how it was before we got the transfers (except maybe 10 extra people in WvW?).
WSR have more people than us and BT have slightly more but considderring all that we were doing pretty good.
BUT there was pretty much only one commander online all the time and that is me (except for reset, then we had plenty). There is one more who puts is on sometimes though but still not enough.
The rest is taking a break, I’m looking at GoA and the other commanders.
I however caught a cold on last wednesday and I’ve been sick ever since. Having to command all the time while sick caused me to have a burnout.
So Since monday I decided not to put my badge on and rest some more (last night I slept for 15 hours, that’s more than the 3 nights before all counted together).
Seeing our current situation I decided that we can’t continue on this path. So now this week I’m hanging my badge up and using this week to change some thing.
Things that I was doing before the alliance barged in.
