They no longer work. The 7% damage bonus fails to apply now with clones/illusions up…
Never should have worked and people caught abusing it should be dealt with.
Is there a game where people don’t cheat somehow or get a proper punishment for doing so?
I am running the following:
AMD Radeon R5 M230
Card memory 2,00 GB
Provider Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
AMD Radeon™ R4 Graphics
Card memory 1,00 GB
Provider Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
since this is a laptop but still powerful:
AMD A6-6310 APU with AMD Radeon R4 Graphics
Cores 4
Threads 4
and the max I get was 24 FPS on low settings, recently I can’t get above 17. Was hoping it could be at least a bit more than 30.
The game gives a headache.
NEVER IN PVP RELATED CONTENT!!!
If when I was on my condi Ranger and could kill anyone in an instant with more than 7 stacks of bleed on them and you want to break the cap, how do you suppose this will affect the overall damage dealt?
It will be overpowered and it will be near to inescapable.
For rapid fire and skill cooldowns, if you feel like you want to be less OPed just don’t put the trait for them and your cooldown will be longer and non-spammable as you say.
We are supposed to deliver quick death, not toy around with our prey.
If you don’t agree then you chose the wrong class.
This trait is supposed to prolong the duration of boons granted by pets by 50% but it doesn’t work.
I’ve tested numerous times with the Juvenile Red Moa that gives Fury for 15s, with trait should be 22.5s, it’s still only 15s.
I was wondering when have engineers gotten the ability to stealth themselves and I’ve met quite a lot of them today in PVPs during their dailies.
People love to exploit.
I don’t know if this has been discussed before since am new to the game, but it’s very annoying.
Mesmers eg. cannot take advantage of their teleportation ability to get themselves to higher ground even if it’s just slightly above, but a Guardian, that was quite far from me could easily teleport to a bloody rooftop from far below just like that, right?
I don’t believe this is right. If it is supposed to work this way, then make other classes take advantage of their teleports also.
A huge thank you to everyone.
I took your valuable feedback into consideration and experimented a lot the most part of the day today in PVP, since my question was mainly aimed towards that and Ranger’s overall faint movement speed (excl. signets). I go by the rule, that if it’s applicable in PVP, it will most likely work in PVE and for me it does. (Yer, I’m looking for a universal build, although some may disagree.)
I went from different trait lines to runes and sigils, armours and weapons, tried about everything I found interesting and that would suit my play style.
In WvW/PVE there’s plenty of space to manouver, but PVP is usually close quarters, of course depending on the map type – some offer more advantage, some less so – but comparably less space for manouverability at points.
I too concluded, based on what some of you mentioned, that what the ranger would truly benefit from is to substitute not so used/useful traits for passive movement speed increase/positioning abilities/evasive manouvers in and out of combat.
Have a good day.
Haha Laughed a lot, good performance
You little jumpin’ rabbit.
Just need to ask how do you make a keybind to rotate 180 degrees so quick. Is it something in the options that I’ve missed?

Are you seriously asking to lower the range on a class that is SUPPOSED TO be long range?
HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND?!
Or you could even use trapper runes for repositioning if you like stealth and speed.
It’s something I was thinking about before I lost it… since my condi build uses mainly traps and we know traps cannot be blocked and bring a lot of heat into the battle.
But Trapper runes aren’t available in PVP for obvious reasons. Guess how many rangers would use them, and they sure as hell would be unstoppable.
But that movement… until I get to a point while constantly in combat… Jesus…

…D-did you just use Guard as an example of mobility compared to Rangers?
You don’t have to take everything literally. You can take any other, suitable example.
My point is for something that should be more evasive/manouverable rangers move very slow by default. And are squishy.
It’s not that I would have problems facing a particular class. I mentioned the guardian as an example only to point out some of the stuff Rangers would appreciate, not precisely teleportation, but to somehow mitigate the horrible movement.
Perhaps I should’ve mentioned, that this is mainly about PVP, where rangers don’t always get the advantage of higher ground, which is understandable in terms of balance. Some maps are better suited and some less so. My main concern is the movement speed and evasive manouvers along with positioning.
On my condi build I can squash about anybody. Last time I checked it took a full party to kill me and I can fairly hold points on my own, at least to keep them busy while my team should be on their way to capture the rest and assist, but anyway, it’s not that I don’t manage, it’s what I feel is wrong about the class.
I understand the ranger being mainly support, but there are times (90% and I’m being optimistic) when you don’t land a good party from the Q as your guildies don’t often have the time for PVP, so you bang your head and ask yourself why do you have to go hold a point when the rest got stuck in a different universe and you get surrounded by 3… ouch.

Hi,
There may be a lot of emotions in my thoughts, so please try to take what I’m about to say from the right perspective and if you don’t have anything reasonable to add then just remain silent, thank you. Also, bear in mind, that English is not my mother tongue.
I feel really down and disappointed about the ranger. I tried to figure it out day after day for the past month and something (almost two months and yer, I’m new to the game), but despite the many people I bested in PVP both in close and long range combat I feel the class isn’t balanced at all when talking about manouverability.
From a reasonable perspective, any archer in any game, and in real life of course (snipers, hunters and such) ought to demonstrate flawless manouverability and positioning, which they depend on and outlines their survival.
I mean, who the f* designed a class that is supposed to be extremely agile and hard to catch to move like a turtle instead, unless one uses a horn or the shout build to give himself and the party swiftness with regeneration or uses another combination to achieve movement boost.
I don’t know by what other means than the above mentioned and eg. the sword skill to jump and leap, or the greatsword’s rush you guys use to achieve better movement but frankly, I tried what I believed to be the most reasonable options for both condi and/or sniping builds, both of which fail at movement if you go let’s say LB/GS, or LB/sword + weapon of your choice for sniping or for condi builds axe/torch + sword/dagger or otherwise.
A bloody guardian that wears heavy armour and heavy weaponry should by definition be a very slow runner, but no, he has teleportation skills and can swing through the battlefield with his sword and other very helpful stuff. What the…
Why don’t rangers have supreme evasion skills like in most games allowing for swift repositioning? Why the hell have we, when in combat mode, been given a movement pace of a snail while an elementalist can get up to 25% if wearing two daggers?
Example: you run a condi build where you don’t include the movement signet because you need other utilities, you enter combat = what the heck is with that movement speed??? You’re dead if you move 0.5 km/h.
I’d like to hear how you guys manage.
Having Ranger as the only character I play I feel very upset by a lot of things the recent patches have caused, not only the pets.
They screwed up big time.
they need to do a rollback, just everything has gone wrong since the update
I second this. So much mess has been created by the recent patches makes me wonder; do they even test their updates???
No idea what they’re doing, but lately they screw up more than they fix. Like the recent stealth bugs… now affecting my ranger…
I do know about Jobs and Xerox and I am no Mac person. I never was a fan of their iThings for obvious reasons. But Jobs at least knew how design sells and set high standards.
Gates earns around 200 dollars every second of every day for most ideas that aren’t even theirs. Why I am saying this is because I don’t like when someone comes out in the open profiting greatly on ideas they copied from someone else and present it in a way that they were the ones who created them and most of the uneducated world will sadly believe it.
Anyway, this thread is going entirely in the wrong direction than intended. I would welcome members of the staff to step in and state their standing on the matter. Newell was the first to give proprietary vendors the finger. Since then more than a 1000 games have been ported to Linux. I would like to see more follow.
On the other hand I, as I got to know, that Mac users actually run the game via Crossover and the likes, it would be quite upsetting for the Mac community if they didn’t receive a native client and Linux did.

I would say, no. It would require a complete re-write of the game engine. I don’t see that happening.
“…disgusted by Microsoft’s atrocious abortion of coding called Windows…”
That really isn’t true anymore. Windows has greatly improved since the days of Windows 95/98. My Windows 7 works perfectly and it’s completely stable.
BTW, I have a dual-boot setup with Windows 7 and Linux Mint.
A large portion of features you see in Windows since Vista/7, like dimming the screen prompting for admin privs (utterly useless, but there anyway) has been copied from Linux. As a (even if partially) Linux user you should know this.
Beginning with Windows 10 they shamelessly ripped of about every Linux desktop environment and architecture there is.
You’re talking about Windows improving? That has never happened. What they do is called a rip off, or stealing, or copy/pasting.
But then again, as the late Jobs said about Gates and his Micro$hit:
“Bill is basically unimaginative and has never invented anything, which is why I think he’s more comfortable now in philanthropy than technology. He just shamelessly ripped off other people’s ideas.” – which is what Microsoft, no matter what CEO they have, is doing to this day.
Reading through the bug forum, I’m honestly starting to wonder how many of you are playing with rigs that are at/below the minimum standard for the game.
The in-game bugs are all on A-net. Missing textures, broken voice prompts, and broken chat definitions are all behind the scenes things.
Having a less than 1GB download take 20 hours plus? That’s entirely on your internet package and ISP.
Having the game not start when the patch has been implemented? That screams bad file structure – which implies something changed your directory structure – ie: sweetfx of some such thing.
BSOD – that one is entirely on you. Generally (90% + of the time) it would be a hardware problem. Do you have a bad RAM module? Do you even know how to check? Is your videocard/CPU bleeding heat properly? Again, do you even know how to check? Have you overclocked beyond the hardware’s ability to cope? Is the inside of your PC clean enough to lose the excess heat?
Seriously – there are a slew of software bugs, but a large chunk of what is currently in the bug forum is nothing but PEBKAC.
is right and whoever doubts is wrong. BSODs are most commonly coming from the user’s side, even though it seems that it came just after an update of the game. They are mostly related to hardware issues or driver issues. That being said something was wrong on your system before but you had no idea about it and a recent update has exposed it to you.
If you know how to keep your PC in good health you won’t have issues.
If you install a bloat load of crap on your system, especially apps that install additional drivers like VPNs those can screw your system to bits.
Most people think that they can install anything from anywhere, and that’s the greatest misconception. Not even paid software guarantees long life span. You need to know what is good and what is not by doing research.
ESPECIALLY Windows is designed to break, so be careful or be in regret.
For starters: don’t ever use system speed up tools, that mess with your registry and perform various tweaks you have no clue what they really do to your system.
Don’t bloat your system, keep it clean by using portable applications where you can. Portable apps don’t mess with the registry, they don’t install anything and can be removed by just removing the folder they reside in.
Do your research! Naming everything you can do would only make this post too long.

I noticed:
- the pet attacks even though it’s in calm mode
- the spike trap when reviving an ally from the trait sometimes doesn’t work
- pets don’t heal after coming out of combat
General issues:
- shouts still persist

Hi!
As you may know, Linux is known to be a very stable and robust platform. Recently it entered the gaming market and has proven itself to be very versatile.
Many vendors, including VALVe’s Steam, disgusted by Microsoft’s atrocious abortion of coding called Windows, have migrated to Linux and VALVe, in particular, have built their own SteamOS for gaming based on Linux. VALVe’s Gabe Newell said about Linux, that it’s the future of gaming, and the best/most suitable platform for developers.
With that in mind, my question is would ArenaNET consider creating a port to this awesome platform?
