Could you guys optimise your clients please? No other game than Guild Wars is destroying my computer due to constant overheating as of late. I’m not sure what you did, but please undo or redo it differently because I’m not willing to throw out money I don’t have on new hardware just to play your game.

I run Win 8.1 x64 on a laptop w/ Core i5-5200U, 16 GB RAM, GeForce 940M

I like the fact it got nerfed, but I expected a more logical approach, like removing the even so completely obsolete Trapper runes, removing certain condis from the thief or reducing stacks and duration. How absurd does this even sound… you place a trap and YOU get revealed? This does not make any sense!

Logic? Man… we’re talking about people disappearing from sight, others shooting fireballs, etc, etc. What they did was fine, and “logic” and “common sense” don’t factor into the equation beyond balance in relation to the rest of the game.

And most ghost thieves don’t use Trapper Runes.

I know this is a fantasy game but that does not mean it has to be a complete mess far away from any logic. Even in fantasy films when someone creates a trap it reveals their enemy and not them.

If not, then just destroy it completely by giving teleport with guns shooting radiating spider web to every class and make all look like hulk-coloured unicorns with devilish horns, beer backpacks and weed logo on their chests so all can be happy.

I can’t honestly say I’m sorry to hear it. Hopefully, ANET will make decisions that are unaffected by eSports concerns or eSports players.

The only decisions they made were business decisions, i.e. what makes them money. The company never seemed like it cares about its game, how else would it end up so FUBAR on so many fronts even ESL cancels it.

As someone else noted, ghost thief was nerfed to the floor. It’s possible to do damage without being revealed now, but would take about 10-15x longer to kill someone. The main damage traps were made to trigger reveal.

You don’t see ghost thieves anymore because Anet nerfed it when a thief solo’d a raid boss with it.

Either give resistance a longer stack and cannot be removed. Or give more condi removal to other classes and not only DRUID!! Or bring back the good old days where small group was be possible to wipe blobs (with no high condi damage!!). Because now there is 0% chance to wipe blobs

Warriors e.g. already benefit from very long Resistance duration. The simplest solution would be to decrease condi power and stacks. It’s not fun to get 10 – 25 burn stacks (Burning being by far the most powerful condi in the game next to Confusion). Not all condis are in a bad state, Poison seems to be OK, for now.

Speaking of the Druid – targeted healing makes it the most useless healing class. Trying to heal people running around like crazed monkeys is impossible.

To sum this up in 3 simple steps:

  • remove obsolete and overpowered runes / sigils like Trapper and Perplexity
  • greatly decrease the power of conditions and their stacks in all modes except PVE
  • employ more common sense, because looking at the game it’s all that needs to be employed. Stop trying to create Star Wars.

It really is that simple. Everyone with common sense can see the game is very broken. The company clearly lacks any common sense whatsoever. Very, very bad design decisions making it everything but enjoyable and the countless feedback speaks for it. Anyone reading the forums or other sites with common sense will never pay for this game in the state it is now.

Sadly ANet has a history of not caring about fixing their game. Just read the patch notes. Professions like the Dragonhunter should never have been born.

Even streamers on Twitch complain more and more about terrible matchups in PVP, which is the best for us and the worst for ANet.

You’re totally missing the point here. This is the reason people have no fun playing this game, when a necro can land up to 40 stacks of everything on players by pressing just 2 buttons in many cases and regardless how many condi cleanses there are the condis just keep coming.

Condis from my understanding were meant to cripple foes, but not kill them instantly. The game is messed up, everyone knows it and people like you will of course defend their builds because it suits them and will pretend like everything’s OK, when in reality, it is far from that.

I agree with the OP, that the most recent patch proved the company has absolutely no clue about the game they are developing, or they do and they make it a mess on purpose. I am out of ideas as to why would someone intentionally overlook the much needed changes.

I’m sure I don’t need to go deep into explaining, that how you counter any class heavily depends on many factors / circumstances, like your position / area of engagement, the number of opponents, the class you play and the skills / traits it offers you to counter with. You will run into trouble when you don’t have access to unblockable attacks or if you play a ranged class whose projectiles are easy to reflect with all the blocks / invuls / reflects the guard / warrior have, especially guards traps that everyone knows – especially those who chose to play it – that the CC + dmg input coming from those traps exceeds reasonable limits and comparing those traps to thief and ranger traps we guessed the winner correctly.

Of course a derogatory statement can only come from someone who chose to play a guard exactly for its simplistic gameplay that requires near zero thinking, making it a class for – that’s right you guessed it – dummies, who are not up for the really taxing challenge – to play a class that actually requires more brainpower than playing a class that almost entirely doesn’t require any skill to play yet still the odds of winning are always great.

I made a Warrior exactly twice, purely for experimentation and after I saw that getting to higher tier PVP with it required almost no effort I deleted it immediately and I refuse to play such classes, which is why I don’t roll a Guardian / Warrior.

Fellow mist runners,

it’s time to cut on one very lame tactic ppl like to employ – creating multiple accounts to disclose enemy tag locations.

Today I received a very funny reasoning when I accused a person of doing this seeing them camp at spawn not the first time. It seemed as they were AFK but when spoken to the reply was “I play other games in the meantime and I like to stay in game to read comments…” – makes me think are people really so bored in their lives that they log in to the borderlands to be AFK and read comments? Really? Not only are they taking limited spots for those who want to join and play, but it’s highly likely they do something else than what they say they do.

Logging in to AFK… – my mind stopped right there.

I know some will object stating they want to try to play for the other side as well and that is fine, however many abuse this in favour of their guild / world, hence something should be done about it to prevent this sort of cheating.

My idea to remedy this would be to allow ppl a maximum of 2 accounts by associating credentials that could not be used across multiple accounts, one on EU and one on NA at maximum – continental difference.

Correction: multiple accounts allowed within the same realm.

About thief teleports @anduriell, don’t encourage those please. imo blinking should be a mage thing only. Frankly am tired of thieves teleporting around me constantly with the ability to (nearly) one-hit-kill you. I mean, sure, keep their one-hit kills, they’re assassins after all and should be lethal, but no shadowstepping as they like to call teleportation.

I just want something closer to reason and I know it’s too much to ask. It would mean guards would have their traps removed, because a knight class with traps and teleports is just silly and none of that fits the role (atm. even ppl with no skill can enter any fight because all it requires is to get your invul timers right);

mages with blinking like thieves, now that’s more like it and far more fitting for their role given the fragile nature (light armour, so to compensate physical weakness with great evasiveness to make wizards a force to be reckoned with) since they have the will power to change matter and shift themselves through time and space;

make engis more viable;

remove all the cancer builds, make condis viable but not overpowered;

stop mixing classes (guard is the best example) and make each unique so all of them are perfectly suited to fill roles and all equally needed.

This whole game is a freakin’ mess, there’s just no words to describe it any more. Everything’s been said for so many times we’re just repeating the same things over and over and nobody seems to listen and nobody seems to care.

It’s effin’ exhausting.

Now just to hear what they plan to do about it since WvW is unplayable. Speaking for myself it’s the only game mode I actively play, but since it came to a point when pressing buttons no longer works I think I might be on the lookout for another title.

PVP and PVE receiving updates… Some of those interesting, some not so. I would like to know if there’s going to be a server / game engine upgrade to fix the kitten lag we’re having, like yesterday, disconnected over 3 times during raids, persistently unable to use any skills and you know the rest and this is not just yesterday, but the lags during zerg fights – the game mode is often unplayable.

This is not about PC settings or internet connection because many run decent builds yet we’re all facing the same issue.

Also, one very important thing:

I came across many nice folks in-game with various disabilities who admitted some mechanics, like such jumping puzzles, really give them a headache and worse! I’ve played with a guy who e.g. couldn’t dodge properly because of his disability so imagine such person to beat a jumping puzzle like this one.

I bet most of you haven’t thought about this and what kind of a challenge it must be for folks with handicaps if it can prove very difficult for healthy adults.

Dude you need to chillax. It is a game. If part of it is frustrating move on and do something else. I very much dislike PvP and HoT maps. So I just do not go there. PLay the parts of the game you enjoy.

As you say – it’s a game, and as such it should be fun. I don’t know about you but I don’t launch the game to get a headache, or to feel bad, but the opposite, to have fun, relax a bit etc.

If they hadn’t put a mastery point or another reward at the end of it many would never bother, which is I believe why it is so.

I also agree with those who’ve pointed out the mechanics + camera issue, that adds to the frustration.

It was designed by Josh Foreman, who likes to create challenges with the expectation that most will fail

that guy… would be my test subject for a real-life HOPE pistol. He’s literally making fun of us for our money.

What I find dull and painful is people complaining about things they are in no way forced to do. Nobody is forcing you to do that JP

I have never had so much stress doing a jumping puzzle as with the last one in Ember Bay. I get to think that ANet hate their customers very much, that the team behind the puzzles are sadists who enjoy tormenting us for our money.

It’s excruciatingly difficult to do without help, but even with it it’s so much of a stress and games aren’t supposed to lead to cancer. They are supposed to be challenging, but not driving one to the point of insanity.

I got help from a very kind and fun to be around mesmer, but still, because I got disconnected once (not my fault of course) and because I haven’t reached all checkpoints (why should I if we have mesmers anyway) I didn’t get the final reward and the necessary item for my legendary collection (in form of a mastery point) just because of these stupid impositions.

This game can often be so frustrating and stressful I don’t recall feeling so bad about a real life event at times. I get the feeling one does not need to do bungee jumping, just pay for a copy of GW2.

Revise the difficulty of certain instances. Since HoT the difficulty of this game has reached levels far away from reason.

The only reasonable spot for a necro in spvp and wvw is teamfights and they want to kill it’s team fight potential.

Therefore epidemic is totaly fine , necro is supposed to be a teamfight beast (since it can’t do anaything else decently)

I agree on many points with you, but on the above I don’t based on my own experience.

With a proper build you can roam (I do that often). In both WvW and SPVP it took frequently 4+ people to take me down with good amounts of toughness, power and sustain + constant reaper form and heavy, heavy damage with proper kiting. It’s all about timing, knowing when to withdraw from a fight, manoeuvrer, rejuvenate and re-engage.

I think that conditions are kind of weak. For example condi necro can’t kill anything if enemy isn’t totally brain dead.

Reapers have far more potential going power. Condi necro sucks I agree, but so do their pets, which is why they are obsolete.

It does need a look in wvw but there really are only a few groups in the top two tiers that use it right. Until people catch on and stop talking about epi like some solo skill it really won’t be much of a problem.

No it does not. What does need to be looked at are plenty other things that nobody seems to be bothered about. We all know what I mean, no need to repeat it again.

Conditions are a bit too powerful, that I agree on, so instead of nerfing one skill, correct condition damage all together and balance the kittening game already, after how many years there still is no balance because game anal-ysts forgot to plug out their heads out of their butts and get some fresh air for some real elite specialisations ideas instead of having the community do it for them with [Suggestion] threads.

Necros have been in the meta forever not because of Epidemic, but because of really strong utility and direct damage. Even if Epidemic got completely removed, Necro/Reapers will still be one of the most sort after classes for WvW groups

My guild doesn’t use condi necros because power necros are still viable and still fun to play. Producing downs on every single well bomb is still satisfying. Nerfing Epidemic won’t do a thing to necro.

Power necro is one of most boring and braindead specs to play.

I disagree.

While it may not be totally natural (but again, personal preference), as necros are “historically” (based on fiction of course) known as the commanders of the dead and spreaders of plagues, similar to witch doctors, in this game they wield greater power than many other classes.

If I wanted I could go with base power 2.7k and up easily. But even as low as 2.2k deals interesting amounts of damage. Take shroud into account and you have one highly resilient melee-range mage.

I too might enjoy them more probably if it was more viable to go condi w/ minions, but minions are a joke since they cannot be controlled and stop at every mob in PVE and are appalling in PVP.

I was against this till I experienced it today. 20 reapers in JQ’s zerg all using epidemic utility. Hits like a mac truck and is very effective when used right. I can see why players are disliking it.

yer but it was introduced to the game for a reason. this is the reason. it’s mass contagion, it is supposed to do what it is doing – mass infestation.

if anything, decrease condi power but equally nerf condi cleanses of classes like warriors and guards.

I hate to see IMMUNE whenever I cast a condition on someone. it is not a physical skill that should be blockable!

Did you see the devs’ idea for WvW “New Worlds”?

How do they expect new worlds to be a solution without big changes to the transfer/bandwagon system?

I didn’t go through all the comments, only a few dev ones and afaict they would lock worlds only until people start moving to lower populated servers, which basically means returning to the old system.

No. The only possible solution would be to lock worlds permanently, merge them so we don’t have so many (unnecessarily) and to offer accounts to transfer only up to 3 times.

ANet however won’t agree to this because it would mean for them to lose money. Every transfer is paid. 1800 gems = over 20 EURO, you really think they’ll give that up?

I don’t think so. Not with a F2P model.

The likelihood of you ever getting something valuable is below 1%.

As long as bandwagoning is tolerated there won’t be a best server, because people simply jump ship the moment they see they are outnumbered and while everyone likes winning, very few like a real challenge. Then the ironic praise for guilds like CUTE, Zerg, Perv and all the bandwagonists who I see frequently leave Deso, then come back, then jump ship again, then come back it’s hilarious it’s like bunnies forgot where the grass is greener and they keep looking for more carrots

If you get stuck up with condis on you far too often then you’re obviously doing something very wrong and it’s not the reason to come and complain on forums each time you get your butt kicked.

If this skill gets an unreasonable block then this game can be thrown straight in the bin.
I already observe something very disturbing when trying to land condis on people: “IMMUNE”. How the kitten can you be immune to a non-physical skill?! That’s just out of this world. Condis shouldn’t be blockable, they are like a disease, a plague, they are supposed to weaken you, they ignore armor which is perfect reasoning how they should operate thus should NEVER be blockable. This is why you have resistance.

Then you have foods, runes, sigils for cleansing, jesus christ;

Guards are OP, nobody gives a kitten; Warriors’ adrenal health heals so much using a healing skill is obsolete, plus the amount of condi cleanse they have is beyond normal, yet you come here complain about Epidemic? – a strategic skill the necro needs?

Instead of having to bring back something, stop gating those items behind seasons or achievements. Just make them all available.

I understand you want more sales during specific periods, but if you really want people to support the game quit the gating of stuff, unless it’s really something very specific, like a Christmas tree for your home instance, e.g., but stuff like black wings? That won’t make anybody happy and won’t earn you any coins.

And the Fact about the colors is only the fail for colorblind people (red and green). I think there is only League of Legends that supports a colorblind-option yet.

I like desert borderlands. For one it’s an interesting landscape offering a lot more diversity than the other BLs. Those I find boring.

Just fix some issues surrounding desert BL but I’d vote to keep it, I like it.

In a similar fashion, most master artisan, ascended and legendary gear recipes are so resource and time-gated that they turn people away from crafting rather than make it interesting.
Those shout out: “To get me, I want you to live in the game for months on end, drop school, leave your job, sell whatever you can, forget everybody you’ve ever known”.
This is a bad way to make people play in the long run.

Since HoT I believe more and more hardcore players started to emerge who demand more “difficulty” what game strategists translate incorrectly leading to absurd solutions, like feeding one guy 50 Apples to get a mastery point – ridiculously dull task. It reminds me much of Lineage 2 and other, very old MMOs. Not surprising since NCSoft runs the show here.

GW2 has lost its casual tag and to an ever growing extent became a grind. This is not the game we used to know / started to play. Nowadays it’s Fashion Wars + eSports w/ absurd class balancing.

it’s 2016, past November 8, the world has gotten a greater issue than how to choose what is obvious based on personal preference…

I too think the naming system in WvW is ridiculous. Often you can’t even hide behind obstacles because your name stretches from LA to NYC.

A temporary workaround that might help:

try running to the start of the instance until it lets you and back, or die a few times and each time when you get back (retry from checkpoint) try to position yourself differently near the generators. For me it worked after a while but can’t say for sure it will always.

Anet wouldn’t want that.
-server hopping serves as MONEY because GEMS
-if guilds buy transfers entirely with gold-gems, it serves as a huge gold sink
