Speak for yourself, nothing’s wrong youre just new and don’t like change.
No this is a system in the game to aliviate stress on the software, (I’m a tech noob) but they do realize its not working too well for wvw and will be addressing down the road. It’s like a phasing of sorts where it controls the number of players seen on screen to keep performance up. Hope that helps.
What class were you playing?
What’s your spec? This is info that would help the devs who view these post better assess the situation. Honestly it does help to supply more info.
That’s not necessary, I was just curious if this was intended. I don’t want anyone nerfed, I am sure there is a way to counter such players.
Well we can’t say what’s “intended” and the Anet team is still working on game balance, so it’s good to ask them these questions. But you have to supply more info. It looks like you were also a theif and running a glass cannon build, in which case you will blow up pretty easy to another theif . Now is that intended? I am not sure but that’s how it’s working at the moment yes. I get hit for 3-4k with a tough build warrior so I imagine u would be hit much harder.
It looks like you were also playing a theif, is this correct?

Its weird how people seem to be forgetting theres nothing chaining them here while they wait for the new features to be implemented. You already paid for the game there are no subscription fees. If you are that miserable go play something else in the mean time.
Everyones kittening will LITERALLY not do anything. Its not going to make kitten some how magically happen right away. Stop acting like 8 year olds.
Honestly some of the MMO community is just deplorable. Complain when something is not here, then complain if there are bugs after its release because you wanted it right now. Then complain that they didnt better do bug fixes and didnt release it when its ready. All this is so aggravating to read. Soon companies will just stop making MMOs or games people want to play due to entitled kitten complaining every 2 seconds.
You sir spoke my mind. Half the ppl clamoring about esport support have never been to an actual esport event, less alone competed. But the majority of GW2 fans aren’t complaining nor visiting this forum. It really is a minority.
Hammer a thiefs face off and control the encounter. I can’t figure out anything great to counter mesmers outside of HB it to death but a good Mesmer can be untouchable against a warrior. They are tough for melee.
But yeah both those classes are FOTM in random queues. I think they have great mobility and good damage and CC all of which is great for Capture Point PvP. They are both pretty squishy but a good one is really tough, just keep at it.
Like I said if you can find ways to CONTROL/Interrupt them you have a much better chance at success.
Man I hope youre right, I can’t wait til mop comes out, less of this chatter in game and a Buncha players I will not miss
Seriously you leeches roam to every MMO and do the same thing in their games and in the forums…. Good riddance
Thank you for the update, Colin. Hopefully it will give players some peace of mind. You guys are doing a great job. Letting the pvp game develop and getting all of the bugs and balancing issues sorted out before you release ranked/ladder, is very smart in my opinion.
Agreed! It makes perfect sense. Don’t just rush a ranking out if your not happy with your metrics or data feedback just yet. It’s not even been a month.
You can in the server browser, game ends, you can leave and que again!
Lol at the thread title! I really did laugh. But yeah I think it’s reasonable to think they will correct this in a future patch, for all our self indulging needs
^this guy clearly has never had a job. It all takes time and money and employees etc..etc… You can’t just snap your fingers and create a product. Microeconomics 101. Just slow down lest you become your own kiljoy
So clearly stated! Thanks Colin
Things that we all want: Arenas and Que with friends and spectator mode.

No we don’t all want arenas or pug stomping. Anet is focusing on in game metrics to continually bring spvp and tpvp to a optimal balance state ATM and a lot of us want that. Adding these system would only take away from that. Arenas probably will never be in the game and if so, I’ll bet my mortgage it won’t be anytime soon. Not trying to be rude but your request for such drastic changes are not only very costly but also un reasonable at this time.
So it’s not just mouse movement causing target dropping and unresponsive ness? Well that makes me feel abit better. Yeah I prefer total mouse control and sometimes strafe with Q & E but the movement is still abit slow. Either way if they could look into a good sticky targeting feature I think it would be really beneficial. I realize you don’t need a target to hit, but as a warrior there is a lot of abilities that do not work properly without a target and you can find yourself flailing at nothing at times.
The stutter stepping has to be from the movement animations I would assume considering they are exaggerated in game
I personally have always played with exclusive mouse movement. I’ll use “w” at times but for the most part I’ve always moved with the mouse and giving me the freedom to bind everything to my left hand buttons. But I’ve been having several issues with this setup for GW2 PvP. I cannot say its solely on the tech end of the game and if anyone knows of anything in the options menu to address these issues it would really help.
1: LOSING TARGET : So it appears I drop target no matter where I click on the map. Is there an option to disable this. My issue is since I hold both mouse buttons down to move, everytime I go to move I lose target and have to tab back, which is never accurate considering the amount if pets or players in an area. Is there a sticky targeting feature that disable the ability to lose target while moving with the mouse?
2:STUTTER STEPPING: Often time my character is unresponsive to my mouse, I will move but he will just stutter in that direction and sometimes not move at all and I have to re engage the mouse a second or third time to get him to move. Is this a bug or the animatation the characters make when turning or strafing causing this. It’s a real annoyance after a considerable amount of time pvping. Movement is king, especially in this game yet very unreliable while using Mouse Movement.
These are real problems for me, has anyone else had these that move with the mouse? I really enjoy the game, but would love to get these two issues addressed. Like I said if there is options to fix this it would be helpful. And thx in advance.
Man and I thought I was just “doing it wrong”
. Yeah I have the same issue but wasn’t clear if it was intended or buggy. So I’ve just avoided it. I think there is a thread for bug reporting, you could bring it up there if this thread doesn’t get attention.
I agree, as will the forum. I would like to see more in depth discussion on Strats/Comps and counters/builds. Which is why I have frequented this sub forum. I find much more constructive conversation going on in the class specific forums then currently here, if you are like me and looking to engage in more meaningful discussions I highly recommend checking those until the “scenery” changes here.
The game is still new and with the instant max pvp in the game a lot of people are rushing judgement. Not saying some complaints aren’t necessary because this is a place for legitimate ones foresure, but ATM that’s all every thread is.
I wish Anet would just be abit more heavy handed on moderating some of the “whine” threads and help weed out those types of people. But what are u goin to do!
Either way good thread man. Thx for sharing
Good attitudes get you far in life. You’re on the right track sir
Most gamers are cry babies in pvp! In any game you’ll see the kids doing just this. I remember when online gaming consisted of people playing a game and not getting butthurt.
The fact that they refer to themselves as a “mature guild” is laughable. Anything but.
Cool vid thx for sharing man. But getting a bad link to the build. Love the hammer too btw.
I cannot say I agree nor do I think there are “wasted” skills. Maybe some I choose not to run ATM but I see there use. You can make this same argument for every class, and tbh most of the replies sound like they can be condensed into a “need more buttons” argument. Which is okay, some people prefer the traditional MMO humdrum of buttons. But as it stands there are several builds that offer plenty of engagement. I would say the FOTM GS build is one of the less engaging specs and the sole reason it’s FOTM. It’s simpler then the other builds and good burst. But that doesn’t mean you can shoe horn every build and make broad generalization about the entire class based on that build.
I run a support/cc build and am always engaged in the encounter, the “autopilot” statement is once again just an exaggeration of how you personally feel, but not a fact.
I’m not saying you are wrong, it’s you’re personal opinion, I’m merely answering you’re question. It’s a matter of preference, no need for us to argue such a trivial topic.
If you do not find it engaging? Is there other classes you have tried, I always thought the engineer looked rather complex with a very diverse set of skills, maybe you’ll enjoy that. Or an Elementalist, considering the ability to rotatate attunements appears to be a very high skill cap class ATM. Give it a shot, maybe it’ll tickle your fancy
.
(not that it matter but I played a warrior in wow too :p so I understand where some of you are coming from. But I personally do not feel as if it’s “lacking” in comparison and think the archetypes “feel” remains)

Are there ANY other viable tpvp warrior specs besides dull HB gimmick
in Warrior
Posted by: Irishbrewed.6537
Try the support/Cc setup. It’s something I really enjoy. I run hammer and mace/war horn and find it really enjoyable. Now it’s not going to “blow” people up, but it’s a support build. If that’s what you are into.
Don’t shy away from a rifle build with sword/war horn either, based in condition application. It’s fun too. You can spec in toughness with it too and really do well.
You don’t have to do fotm builds at all in this game, I encourage you to try all different builds and find something you really enjoy and not worry what “others” are doing, there’s still great fun to be had.
Good luck
Yes you get new “skins” or gear for your character. Just like other MMORPG pvp games.
Welcome to the Internet where a forum is a “complaint box”. I thought it was noble for Anet to actually create a forum in the first place, considering very little good comes of them.
The logic for most users on every PvP sub forum is that it’s a place to suggest changes and complain when they lose! Now that’s not everyone, but as you can see its the majority here.
As for your comment “this game was obviously rushed”. Yes 5 years is rushing it. No
290hours played? Woah brotha! Im concerned.

The incentive to PvP is : (Wait for it)
To PvP!
It’s really a beating to craft at your level. I tend to out level the gear I’m trying to craft because of the xp reward. This seems very odd. Not to mention how parsed out crafting nodes are making it very tedious to acquire and also adding to the fact that you will have to avoid killing anything less you get XP and once again out level anything your actually trying to craft and “use”. I like the crafting system itself but it’s implementation is flawed.
I agree with the changes you recommend. But do think they should give either less required mats for item crafting or just more nodes to farm. Feels very tedious ATM and like I said the XP reward throws us off. Maybe the reskin idea you made would suffice so we can actually still “use” the item we were looking to craft and not just out level it.
Just to temper the theives, this forum will not dictate changes to the game. So no need to fight amongst one another on this overly discussed topic. Anet will make changes that are best for the game not to appease the “very few” ppl who frequent this forum.
So with that, I hand you all a cup of “let’s move on” and discuss builds/strats and all the other cool constructive conversations we could be having other then these.
Love you all equally.
The changes I was seeking to make were not of game mechanics, but how some of the community views thieves and how they use their abilities.
Oh I know man, but for the most part it’s really hard to change “Internet attitudes” , not saying ppl don’t have legitimate complaints but either way none of us are game developers and really can’t demand anything. So I think if we just try to avoid the negativity we will be in a better place.
Threads that are negative :"oh “x” class is OP!
Positive: “I keep getting wrecked by theives, this is my spec and any advise is appreciated”
Two threads on similar topics yet two different attitudes. I think that’s much more constructive. And if “x” class is a little op, then that decision will be based on in game metrics and game testing, it won’t be based on forum post. Which is all I was saying.
I think you have the right attitude, but it’s a sensitive topic on the forums it seems and very little constructive chatter has come from it.
Whata I know tho

You know there are more then one elite skill to choose? There are 4 and offer great utility.
How much success have you seen with this build in spvp? It works great for WvW just wondering if you’re running this in spvp as well, and thanks for sharing btw. Really a great thread.
I might be wrong on this, but isn’t the best rifle builds focused on a condition setup? Therefore running with a sword is optimal and focus on bleeds?
Even though this would be lackluster, I’d prefer this over Juggernaut any day.
We definitely need a revamp to our 30 skill point Elite. I’ve never seen ANYONE using it.
The banner is really sexy. I love it in spvp !
Good stuff man, thx for sharing. Disregard the rude individuals here. A lot of us actually like this kind of stuff. Keep it up.
Grats on the win!

I think the main thing is that Guild Wars 2 is not your typical MMO. GW2 is a game to play if you enjoy THE GAME. If you like PVPing JUST for PVP sake, keep PVPing. If you like exploring and doing random events just for the sake of doing it, keep doing it. If you want PVP gear progression, pub stomping, serious raiding, etc then GW2 is just NOT the game for you. It doesn’t have a subscription, you have most likely already gotten your moneys worth out of the game. If you aren’t enjoying the game for what it is, that is fine. Just find another game and come back if you ever feel like it.
I’m not saying “Shut up or GTFO”, I’m simply stating a fact. If you don’t like playing RTS games you aren’t going to play an RTS game. If you didn’t like Duke Nukem Forever you wouldn’t play it. If you aren’t enjoying/are no longer enjoying GW2, move on and come back if you feel like it. There is no sub tying you to the game.
This is the statement that needed to be made. I think a lot of gamers prefer to play “for” something. They feel like they have to have some kinda grand GOAL to keep playing, instead of like a lot of us who “play to just play”. Like you said its not that those players at “wrong” for wanting to have a goal oriented mindset other then just pvp, it’s just one not supported by the game. At least not for “power creep”. You can still shoot for gear cosmetics if you like tht kinda thing.
But there is also players who enjoy the gear crutch, and like just rolling new players because of gear. Those players won’t hang around in GW2.
I think with time ppl will get better, unless they just give up. Is the game “perfectly” balanced, no and no game ever will be, but it’s a far cry from what the majority of people actually using these forums are saying. There’s a thread for almost every class and someone complaining they are “op” because (insert reason)which actually gives more credence to the fact that it’s in a better state then some here want to believe.
I think it’s simply that some classes are “easier” or more forgiving then others and not “all” builds are even viable for PvP. Nobody post there spec nor go into an detail to give validity to their claims. Which makes 90% of these these threads irrelevant.
Not attacking anyone, but come guys, there’s a ton to learn still, give it some time and don’t get all negative out the gate.
I would be cool with the map if the sharks weren’t all Jaws himself and swarm me like a pack of frenzied hyenas every time I got my foot wet:(. I like the underwater elements cause it breaks up some of the monotony, but ATM these steroid sharks are just ruthless and makes the combat feel very clustered!
1v3? I would say maybe you’re are just ubber awesomesauce with said class. I play a warrior and never 1v3 anyone, and I’m no scrub!
Everyone just chill out, the guys behind the game no better then we do, let’s not act like we can balance a game by complaining. I’m sure they are aware of anything before us. This entire sub forum is just filled with repeat threads.
Calm down and be nice

The gear thing definitely has its advantages, but i still lol at how serious some people are about winning the hotjoin so they get more glory that does nothing for them. WTF I GOT TEAM SWITCHED, im gonna miss the bonus glory that ultimately does nothing.
Well that’s not true. Glory is a currency to purchase upgrades so it’s not useless. But yeah raging because of the minor bonus is silly considering youre not NEEDING it to stay on the treadmill like in other mmos.
I think this might have some validity. Not just because zerging can be abit annoying but moreso because I personally think it could help some of the balancing outcry we see. That being said I’m not sure what the right “number” should be. I think maybe 7 v 7 or 6 v 6 would be a good one. I think 5 v 5 might be aliitle small for pick up games. Now I could be terribly wrong on this but I do agree, that often times a lot of the games feel a little “crowded” but this isn’t the case in every game. Mainly Capricorn.

Besides the obvious “parity” reasoning of not having “power advantages” , I cannot stress enough how enjoyable (and relieving) to not feel like “Oh no I have to log in and get my points less I get left behing in the gear grind”! From a man with a full time job, a wife, and 3 young children, it’s rather refreshing I can still partake in MMORPG PvP, and not just get rofled roll because I didn’t “do my dailys”
!!!
Thank you Anet! Foreal, from one old dude to the other, thanks!

Actually RIFT is equalizing gear soon too.
I think they scrapped the idea. A sub game needs the “carrot” factor and I think they realized that.
Edit: I could be wrong on that, so don’t quote me. I also am not sure if they scrapped it bc of that exact reason, just making the assumption. I think it’s hard to make the horizontal progression switch once you’ve established a community who enjoy vertical scaling. It’s a drastic change.

Ohh… seems a bit lame to me tho, Yes you can say “as it should be” but why? a lot of other games have done it the other way in many years and that seem to have worked out fine… but yeah I guess I was to fast to set my heart on GW2 then :P
Well this is known, that guild wars doesn’t offer stat advantages. We would argue that “winning” because of an arbitrary number is lame. Thus the differences in opinions. Plenty games offer pvp that don’t give Stat advantages and are very successful much like Guild Wars.
Not saying we are “right” and you are wrong, but two very different pvp experiences/gameplay.

Unfortunately for you, this game does not let players rofl stomp because of stat boost. It’s a “gear vs skill argument”, thats been in mmos for years. Guild Wars adheres to skill based pvp. Now that’s not saying all things are “pure” skill, because that would be a misleading statement considering the varying classes/abilities etc. But Anet does not like the idea of compounding the “balance” conundrum by also adding stat variations to the equation. So they have always chosen the “no stat boost” design, where as other MMOS don’t do this. It’s a matter of preference. Some players like stat advantages over others whereas some prefer the “no stat” model. It’s very much like LoL if you’re familiar with that game, where you get rewarded with skins not Power!

Do you use Keybinds or prefer to just click. Maybe that’s whats frustrating to the OP. he might wanna align them in order of a “click” rotation. If that’s the case I guess I could see why you are so frustrated with this setup. But if you do still “click” this is a great game to learn keybinding considering the limited amount of button memory you need to be successful. Either way good luck and hope you don’t let it be your “killjoy”
