Only thing that peaked my attention… sadly that was the only thing… druid was a let down
Tragic, You must be ill-informed
As a ranger we were already given subpar dps because we have a pet – Necromancers got pet without the hit to dps
We used bows, dps got slapped to encourage melee combat, melee dmg will ALWAYS be higher
Our animations got tweaked and bugged for some of our melee weapons and now they dont work well.
and now they pigeon hole into a role which every other class is capable of doing in one way or another…
It shows that they didnt listen nor do they care
Shall we begin to burn the druid for being subpar as well… let me go grab the wood and torches
Exactly as Dradiin said
Edit: This is not WoW, WoW is often easymode and not limited to 5 skills
Thats what im saying, they focused WAY WAY WAY TOO MUCH on healing… if it were the case of having a “no healer” spec or idealogy… then WTF IS THIS kitten.
Druid needs more dmg output/buffs and a bit less heal, else just remove healing from all other classes entirely
Jake, I hope thats not the case…. Druid is nature, aka Earthen, aka Flora…
Thats like saying an alien from pluto is called a Martian from mars… nowhere in the same relative idea
This just in… druid is just a healer in a game where everyone has heals,
If you enjoy dealing less damage, healing, and being only a minor buffer
im already disappointed, too much healing focus in a game where EVERYONE HAS HEALING
I find it absurd, If they wanted a trinity like that. They should go through every other class and strip them of healing means
Skitz is right Nicknobreak
They don’t even have a clue anymore honestly on what ranger was supposed to be.
They lost the plot for the ranger class
We have no devs who actively play ranger
For the most part, no dev will peek into the ranger forums because they know what will happen
We are merely swept under the rug… but this rug is moving towards a cliff
To be honest, Im Pro Sylvari… and anti every one else…
Sylvari Ranger, I get the best of both worlds when it comes to peoples view… xD
If anything, if they gave us the option to assist Mordremoth…. I would do it
This just in….
Had a vision in my dream last night… Prepare for disappointment… Druid doesn’t really have many things different or new… Its just a coat of paint on a torn down weathered old house..
Hurray! We are still last in line and last to be thought of…. =.= either Anet has been secretly working on druid for the entire time… Or all us rangers are masochists and somehow enjoy the constant let down/torture of this whole ordeal
after the hype?
—> a lot of disappointment for rangers like me?
Since its Nolan North doing the vocals for it. Also as I am a Sylvari…
Can I swap sides and join Nolan… I rather be allied with our Lord and Savior Deadpool
As a Ranger, AND A SYLVARI…. I approve the lore driven way. If you want to hear our dear Nolan North, play a sylvari.
Come and be one with the grove third-born! :p
Ranger has such a terrible reputation in GW2 it’s crazy. People just viscerally hate the class for whatever reason. If Ranger is bad, they complain the Ranger is so bad and has no place in GW2. If the Ranger is good, they complain that the Ranger shouldn’t be good, and that it’s proper place is to be bad.
This is what I’m scared of.
So let’s say Irenio takes to heart all the crap that Rangers have had to put up with, and genuinely goes to town on the Druid and makes it powerful, perhaps a little too powerful compared with the other elites.
While adjustments would be warranted, everyone else would QQ like crazy (and you can lay a bet it would be the elites like ele and warrior shouting loudest) and we will be over-nerfed. It will then stay like that despite our reasonable calls for change until the next E-spec reveal.
I have to agree with how little actual dev attention we attract.
How long have we truly gone without a word/patch/fix at times. Meanwhile on the dev tracker they are constantly in other class threads just hanging out or its the class they play.
I would rather have more attention from devs before they declare anything OP. They need to really understand where the Ranger is.
Since Druid has staff, the Revenant staff meta will no longer be attainable and Bifrost will drop in price since pets can wield staves now too
Why would I play a necro minion master if the minions can only wield warhorns and druid pets get staves? Besides, the minion AI doesn’t know how to use utility skill properly and spams blood is power with no cooldown, killing themselves. Meanwhile, ranger pets spam signet of stone which is clearly overpowered
Don’t forget MM Necromancer’s pets can’t swim so now you have Sharks wielding BiFrost Staves with Laser Beams on their heads.
This Just in, OUR WATER PETS WILL HAVE LASER BEAMS ATTACHED TO THEIR HEADS!

Do I need to farm all the heropoints 9x now?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Your worried about that? I have over 150points on each of my characters… I say let ’em burn. No use anywhere else
Druids will be even more overpowered than Mesmer and thief! Druids will be able to stealth indefinitely with their new skillset giving them an instant disconnect and uninstall! We wont ever be able to see a ranger/druid coming, OP!
I’m going to be a tree if the druid falls flat…
Agree with Sina, if any of this is close to being relatively accurate… ranger and even druid is dead on arrival…
I doubt that they’ll be any good. They’re based on spirit weapons; see any of those in competitive settings? If anything, pets should have been like mesmer illusions: call in an animal for a few hits, then it disappears quickly after. Short term and expendable are the only AIs worth bringing in this game.
Or they could allow the ranger or druid to summon a horde of any pets they have tamed…
Or allow us to have multiple out simultaneously to pair the actives like they do with necromancers
etc etc
Oh whats this.. some other person that’s not a ranger lifted to check if we are still alive under this rock cough boulder… cough MOUNTAIN!
Thanks for your sympathy… some of us have hope… but then again a shred of hope is still outweighed by the metric tons of disappointment
+1 to you sir
@wolfey it would actually be more “I can’t get close enough to ranged class with the pew pews”
tbh I find ranger far more mobile than guardian – I mean in averaged scenario.
the only way guardy could outrun decently build ranger was if he could somehow sustain perma swift… ah righ ranger has that capability on few builds already….
The problem there is they gave the guardian the ability to teleport, sadly I have seen guardians teleport the range of a longbow instantaneously… which in my eyes is a little excessive or well… not appropriate for a “melee/tanky/paladin type”
its hard to outrun teleporting around…..and only ground targeted teleport I’m aware of has too short cooldown for ranger to not be able to make up for said teleport….
that’s mainly the issue, I can understand the Mesmer with a teleport/displacement as that is what they are supposed to be capable of class-wise.
However a thief nor a paladin should be capable of such feats of magic. Thieves already have the advantage of long stealth durations.
I’d also argue about lack of sustainability especially if you consider thief having one (sustainability I mean) its really easy to make a build for ranger that will have more regeneration that anyone will ever need with few really nice heals at disposal… also we have evasions on both swords and even dagger where gs also fields block – we also have utilities for evades/damage mitigation like lightning reflexes (evade) and signet of stone (damage mitigation) – we even have a 3seconds stealth on longbow ^^
The problem with the skills you have provided is that they do not contribute to actually prolonging death, I have seen warriors regain full health bars, guardians regain full health, necromancers who somehow are capable of 3 total health bars with their upcoming reaper additions. Sure the added toughness is good sometimes, maybe the jump back… but when the other classes have low cd roots/teleport etc… etc… it becomes a moot point of taking such.
[PS. although I don’t want druid to be anything even remotely close to insane-mega-op-must-have-thing – because then everybody will try to run it and I dont like the folks playing my fav class only because of how op it is…..]
Too true on your P.S, level 80 ranger here, hard leveled…
What honestly burns me as a ranger additionally, is the fact that necromancer/elementalist/engineer – have/will have pets/summons additional to their class while rangers got penalized ~20% strength for being a pet class.
Aside from the fact the necromancers pets can stun/bleed/root etc etc. Which should not be a thing.
Honestly I just want to see the ranger become a stronger independent class that doesn’t have to prove anything to the classes that denied it any respect xD
I’d love to replace my longbow with a 1200+ ranged staff, so long as it isn’t given a Point Blank Shot like skill for me to get blamed for using. Not a fan of how the melee staff was implemented for the Thief so I really hope this one isn’t like that.
Agreed, I understand how the ranger is supposed to be the jack of all trades with melee/ranged combat… but overall it just tends to feel like your subpar on using anything and everything in comparison to other classes.
Lack speed (Mesmer/Thief/Guardian) for teleports (warrior/elementalist/thief) for movement speed
Lack sustainability (necromancer/guardian/warrior/Mesmer/thief) for 2nd health bars, large heals, fair number of blocks and evasions/decoy spam
Lack cc (… list getting too long to continue doing this)
Lack utility
Hopefully the druid can be something on par or above the meta currently… Not much hope for that… but we can still dream cant we?
At this rate I would rather see the druid as a purely self sustaining class. Avoid buffing the party, allow them to keep themselves alive with a higher damage and cc potential
I would actually like more ranged + AOE dmg possibilities.
I also would love it if the staff gave a passive aoe vines growing around the druid that slows/roots enemies that stay too close too long.
