Ferguson’s Crossing outnumbers Kaineng by at the very least 2:1…

However today Kaineng gained some new support and we started pushing back. We have the organization but just need a few more people. If you are looking for a new server I suggest transferring to Kaineng tonight and helping us take Ferguson’s Crossing Lowlands…which would be one of the very few times in Kaineng’s history.

I see a lot of complaints over free transfers so I decided to make this post. The main post that motivated me to write this was one about a guy saying this game would fail like another game did because his server dropped from #3 to #4 and he talked about the significant difference in competition due to the population decrease that took place after they dropped to fight 2 new teams. I felt compelled to make a post for people viewing these forums for the first time so that they are not led astray by misguided and uninformed posts.

Why do we have free transfers?
Free Transfers are in place to give players enough time to balance out the servers themselves. When people play a game for the first time (especially an MMO) they generally tend to follow the herd to only a few servers. Why? Because guilds that know each other from other games will pick out a server in advance…then move there together…..and their friends of friends will follow suit. Over time people begin to realize that the que times are horrible and that the server is way over crowded so they slowly migrate to other servers. ANET knew this in advance which is why they chose not to lock you into a server….so that you and your friends have a chance to decide on which server best suited your needs and made the game the most enjoyable for you. It’s in ANET’s best interest to keep the servers balanced…because if people are not enjoying the game because they feel like they’re locked into a losing server…then they will just quit.

Will servers always have free transfers?
NO! ANET makes its money off of offering services to it’s players…but ANET is also smart enough to realize that players have a very short attention span and if they feel like they’re “locked in” to a bad situation they will simply quit before giving the game a chance to grow and evolve. It also gives you a chance to see what it’s like to play on a High pop server and a Low pop server before making your selection.

Why would ANET wait on offering paid server transfers? It would make WvW more competitive.
I can’t speak for ANET but the most logical reason for hesitation on paid server transfers is that not every server has even close to the same size population. Right now if a guild from the #1 rated server in the world transferred to the last place server in the world they would have ZERO benefit for doing that outside of being able to que up at the same time. I’ve also heard that when “guilds” transfer servers they lose some things that they had built up on the server they were on…which causes guilds to be hesitant on transferring. I believe that ANET is currently working on a way to make moving to a low populated server more appealing for guilds on very large pop servers.

What do you get for WvW anyway?
In terms of the 1 week battle? Bragging rights. Our server populations still have a lot of hedging to do before incentives are put in place for the dominant teams. If there were major incentives people would never want to be the underdog…..they’d just server transfer and cash in. ANET realizes that which is why transitioning from free server transfers to paid server transfers is a process. However once that process is in place…you will see more incentives in WvW and more balanced matches on every server.

I do not want to build my own PC nor do I have the time to study each component and how to install it. I want to order 1 unit…plug it in and go.

Same here. I cannot delete my characters….tried re-logging multiple times and retying the name over and over. The characters cannot be deleted. and yes I know how to delete charactes I’ve done it multiple times…and yes the characters name I was typing was selected.

I’d like to clear up a few things so that you do not tarnish my good name and drag it through the mud with these shenanigans.

First off I did not jump ship for wins on DB. I don’t know where this came from or who made this up…..I left because guilds run WvW on BG like it is a dictatorship. I for one will not be silenced because someone more “popular” comes into the match that we are winning because of the strategies I had put in place….and be told that since this guy is repping a certain guild he is better at leading than I am and that I should be ignored. I could go on and on about the Choco debacle but we all know Choco lead hundreds to their deaths….we also know that as soon as all those people died Choco logged off. Why? Possibly to go make biscuits….this information I do not know. But I do know that up until that point we were winning and about to take over the map.

and when I switched to Dragonbrand I did not jump ship on my people either. When Blackgate called in for Europe’s support and Europe sent in forces to Blackgate that we havent seen since WW2 I did not flench….nor give one inch….and when the largest FA guild jumped ship and spit in my face by joining the evil empire Blackgate I fought side by side with my people until I was the last man standing. Then when I finally realized that Blackgate recovering 20k points in less than 8 hours had nothing to do with skill and that we were outnumbered more than the Spartans in the movie 300….I decided to take a 24 hour break from WvW and go visit Kaineng the last place team in our Battle group. Did I do it for wins? No! Kaineng is LAST PLACE! I did it so that I could type a post about my experiences on Kaineng and hopefully convince some people to transfer there.

Now stop dragging my good name through the mud.

Offer free transfers to lower pop servers AND incentives for staying there.

Unfortunately right now guilds who transfer not only get nothing for transferring but it also resets the progress that they had made in the game.

I won’t lie it’s a bit demoralizing to see no one on Dragonbrand stay longer than 30 minutes to fight it out, but I guess that’s how things go. People left us when JQ kicked our kitten and people will leave us when another well rounded server comes in. We had queues for a few days, not all of prime time…but pretty close. Now I can jump back in whenever I want. Just no one else to play with except Atac, and my guild.

It’s all part of the game I really don’t know why everyone had to just up and go once they saw it happening instead of trying to fight. I had members tell me that everyone was in Lion’s Arch just crying about them instead of actually making a push on 1 borderland to at least get some points.

We’ll keep fighting and see how DB fairs next line up, maybe we’ll drop another tier and can kick those servers kitten and cheer up this server to get more than 2 guilds playing at one time.

I was there when the EU guilds and FA guilds spawned on Blackgates team. We didn’t just “give up”. Basically the entire server of DB stood beside me defending Klovan against an army at the very least 4 times our size. While fighting them I made multiple comments about it being like the battle for the Alamo. And just like the Alamo after siegeing Klovan from BEHIND the mountain tops with 3 trebs and using 3 rams and a catapult they were finally able to break down the wall an hour later. I stayed after Klovan when they assaulted our keep from the sewer pipe under water and we fought their entire team under water the best we could and held them off for another 2 hours. And when they were jumping out of the water into the keep I was with my allies killing every head we saw bob out of the water……AND EVEN WHEN THEY TOOK OVER THE KEEP because we were eventually overwhelmed by their sheer numbers I went into every chat channel and said “Blackgate is within 2k points of Dragonbrand your server needs you in Eternal Battleground! Let’s retake WvW and secure our servers victory!….it is now or never Dragonbrand.” And people were sending me tells complimenting me on my PR campaign….and we got more people to come into Eternal…..EVEN WITH THE EXTRA HELP Blackgate had so many people all we saw was Blackgate invaders and they pushed us back to the portals…..and the saddest part of all….is they were fighting FA AT THE SAME TIME in the Northeast side of the map who wasn’t making any ground either. So no…..we did not just “give up” like people who weren’t there and have no clue what they are talking about say.

I transferred to Kaineng today and have had a lot of fun PvPing with you guys. I think some people are hesitant on transferring because they don’t know what to expect…but Kaineng has the #’s and organization to hold their own in WvW they just need a few more people to advance in rankings. I know RUIN used a small server as their platform to build their guild from and from the pictures it looks like KWBH is doing the same. Kaineng is the underdog server right now and I think a lot of people are looking for a challenge….if those players transfer to your server and you get just a few more people you guys will never see last place again.

What I find to be truly hilarious is that this guy comes on here maturely recruiting for his server trying to help them out….and you guys slap him in the face by saying it’s a speed hacking server. You guys are a joke…there are speed hackers on every server…hell a guy from my server was flying around grabbing orbs like superman. I didn’t see it but it was all over the forums….does that mean that only people who fly hack are from Dragonbrand…..uuummmm probably not. I’m sure there are fly hacking and speed hacking players on every server. And if you witnessed the speed hacking then why didn’t you report the player while you were watching him speed hack…..OH WAIT….PROBABLY BECAUSE YOU NEVER EVEN SAW IT!

On a side note ANET can tell who is speed hacking and who is fly hacking by the characters movements in the system….they’re not idiots. All you have to do is report it and ANET will ban that player. I applaud the guy for taking the time to type out a well versed post….the rest of you just look pathetic.

Once free server transfer are over, maintain free transfers for smaller servers, and allow guild upgrades to carry over in special deals.

Further, offer an undermanned buff that actually gives statistical boosts to the smaller server. Do not SHOW the buff because just having it demoralizes people from playing and is an invitation from other servers to crush you.

I agree with lower populated servers being demoralized by seeing the buff. Whenever people see they are out manned they tend to not even try unless someone works the crowd hard.

I’m also sure ANET is working on a way for guilds to have an incentive for moving to a lower populated server….because right now I don’t think there is one.

After Blackgate called in for support from the entire continent of Europe and FA guilds switched sides to run with them…..and I realized that you recovered 20k points in less than 8 hours because of this….I decided to take a break till points reset and explore the last place server in the world. And no one ran me off Dragonbrand….the server has been nothing but nice to me and welcomed me with open arms….we don’t even argue in WvW and they let me lead whenever I want. However they and I both know that right now Blackgate had 3 European servers transfer to it and the largest WvW guild on FA…..so we are practically up against 4 teams….and this isnt even counting all the people on Dragonbrand that left when they were losing.

It’s not about whining to others to come do it for you. It’s about building the server to be competitive. If your server stays at the same population it is at right now it will never go above last place….which is not what ANET or anyone else (yourself included) wants….they want a game that is competitive on all servers. Without support Kaineng will never be competitive…and it has nothing to do with your skill level or ambition…this is just the nature of the beast. You guys desperately need some more people on your server….and you barking at the guilds to go away doesn’t help anything.

Let’s take a moment to discuss Kaineng.

I decided to check out Kaineng after reading a post by Fubuki (which will be linked at the bottom of this page).

All most of you know about Kaineng is that it is a low populated server at the bottom of rankings chart. You might assume that due to it’s size that it would not be a competitive server for you to move your guild to. However this is not the case with Eredon Terrace. ET “started out” the same size as Kaineng however it is ranked “on average” 4th in the world (even when it was the same size). Why? Because ET has a single very coordinated guild to support it. Why did RUIN choose ET? So that the performance of the server is mostly based on the coordination and skill of RUIN and not the dependence on other guilds. RUIN also understood early on how to capitalize on a server looking for leadership and greatly expanded its membership base. Which is easy to understand…..since by taking your guild to a smaller server you also have less competition in terms of other guilds vying for members….and have the server rally under one banner whenever a territory is captured.

My main server is Dragonbrand…but after several EU guilds decided to flood into one of our competitors servers and carry them on Europe’s back…I decided to take a brief break from DB for 24 hours and see what being on the last place server was really like…..

At around 7-8pm I went into Kaineng’s WvW. The Kaineng team was fighting at their entrance against a much larger Ferguson’s Crossing army holding their own. I asked who was commanding and they said they had no one…..I asked what the main guild was for WvW and they said there was not one and that they use whoever shows up. So we organized the group to hit Redvale Refuge and we over came the larger sized Ferguson’s Crossing army and captured the supply depot. We then hit Redbriar and were successful in capturing the tower…..I’ll admit with how smoothly it went I got a little kitteny and directed us to hit another base not knowing that the army we had fought so bravely and conquered was not the real Ferguson’s Crossing’s Zerg. While we were leaving the tower to hit Champion’s supply depot a massive army double the size of the one we had fought before swarmed us and recaptured the keep. I learned right then that these guys have to play differently than they would on a high pop server and that they need to capture something then build its defenses before they move on to the next target. So we rinsed and repeated a couple of times and now Kaineng owns both Redvale Refuge and Redbriar and Champions and are in the process of expanding….without leadership or guilds….and a team thats out numbered 3 to 1.

I know this is nothing impressive to the servers I’ve played on but it was a challenge considering our numbers and I was impressed with the organization and skill of the Kaineng players who are simply just looking for a guild to lead them….whenever we hit anything everyone on the map showed up for it. At one point someone advised me “we don’t need to hit the towers….we need to just attack supply depots like we normally do” when I asked why he replied “because Kaineng can actually capture the supply depots.” The organization and skill is there but without guilds to lead them the confidence is not.

Oh and in PvE I used the chat channel in as many zones as I could and always had several people respond to me….so the server isn’t dead.

I’m not a Guild Master by any stretch of the imagination but if I was I’d transfer my guild to Kaineng knowing that there are several people there who would be more than willing to join my guild and help in any way they can.

If you think your guild is the best then why not be the main guild for an entire server and never have to worry about your guild waiting in ques again? Or at the very least while server transfers are free try out Kaineng.

Does FPS or latency change from server to server? I wouldn’t think FPS would be affected but are either affected? Are all the servers located at the same locations?

I’ve come up with a way to keep server transfers up 24/7 and make sure that WvW stays competitive.

My solution?
You can transfer to any server you want at any time you want….however when you transfer to a new server you will be unable to participate in WvW until the points are reset for that week.

or

Each time you transfer servers you will have a 2-7 day cool down before you are able to participate in WvW on the new server.

To everyone that says the game is dying or failing….

Not really we win maps at our primetime. It is no secret at all that we have next to 0 night morning people. Its no secret that is when we lose ground. I’m actually surprised to still be winning tbh.
But announcing it as an accomplsihment is kinda silly

All I see is BG flipping a couple of houses….posting picture of the houses they flipped….then giving it back to the enemy after their public relations department has finished posting pictures on the forums. Which is why I tend to look more at the actual score.

How is it okay to for 5-6 Fort Aspenwood guys to basically camp an unreachable point in the chandelier room of this jump puzzle (Zraiths Beacon) and on top of that, build siege weapons in it. Seriously think its ridiculous.

There are a few things I would like to discuss about the online etiquette of GW’s 2.

1. When placing another player on ignore there is no need to tell the chat channel “I IGNORED KAIDE!!!” like you won a great battle….just simply block the player in question. And remember to always be a gentleman and never tell other players to block this person as well…let them reach their own conclusions.

2. If your guild cannot get into WvW because its full….before you tell other people to leave….you should just transfer to a lower populated server so that your guild can all get in.

3. When reviving another player do not stop halfway through the revive and run off because you see something shiny.

4. If someone has a legitimate concern about GW2 please do not tell them to go back to world of warcraft.

5. Discussing Politics and Religion in chat channels is for hooligans….not a refined gentleman like yourself.

6. If you think that people are screaming at you WHEN THEY TALK IN ALL CAPS simply wear ear muffs when you play. This will stop an argumentative response.

7. Do not fly your guilds banner from a keep in WvW if it does not help out your team.

8. When in WvW if your team needs help do not run over and start attacking the giant grub worm….nor should you complete the jumping puzzle…..go aid your allies in their time of need.

9. Remember that not everyone in the game is a troll….so there is no need to spam troll at everyone that talks in chat. You are above those kinds of shenanigans.

10. If you need siege in WvW….don’t just scream for it….go pay the man some coin out of your own pocket and help out your DR deprived team.

How to recognize trolls (like the OP) in game:

- Clue 1: Special characters in their name for the only purpose to make it hard to type or report. Fortunately Anet has a good system for reports.

I make it a point to never ever invite people who have weird characters in their name or follow their orders in /T or /M. If you do not have enough imagination to pick a name you probably won’t have enough imagination to help our team. This was especially true in wow but in gw2 you can use spaces in the name hence you have no excuse for using alt codes.

Well i’m deffinetly done with this thread now. not much else here besides a dude crying about not getting his credit for taking objectives then getting butt hurt when people in the same guild join together and play. OMG DrSkullz surely you of all people can tell everyone thats you’ve told people multiple times that Kaide is a troll and to block him. I remember protecting you on a borderlands while you built a treb and was leading at the same time and you told people I was a troll and that they should listen to another guy….and I even brought up the fact that you never even acknowledged me helping you with the treb, supply runs, or defending it….you could care less as long as I wasn’t leading.

And for the record the level 10 is an alt….thanks….he still does more than most people on BG as you can see from the picture.

I’m an Officer from Condottieri Guild [Cond] on BG. I help to manage the BWC alliance and stand on the same level as [RQ] Keripo within the alliance. I have spent many hours in and out of WvW networking with guilds and getting them to join our community.

I have never seen either of the guilds in question. Ever. I haven’t even heard of them through other alliance members.

I have never seen much fighting in WvW. I’ve seen a civil disagreement between two commanders, but never the childish kind of fighting you are mentioning.

I could go right now and talk to every nighttime player I know within the alliance and they will all say the same thing.

If you can provide chat logs, guild forums, names, ANYTHING, to back up your claim it would be great.

You missed the memo bro. The entire point of the post was that there is a hierarchy problem on BG and from your response I can tell you are part of the problem not the solution. I can also tell that you did not read the other responses to my post or even my responses in general since I have said multiple times that I never said these were WvW guilds NOR DID I EVER say that these guilds participated in WvW combat. I simply stated multiple times…over and over and over…that I and several of my friends some of whom are GM’s….2 of which have decided to transfer their guilds to DB based on the political structure of what we (I and my friends) have encountered in the hierarchy system displayed on WvW that you so stoically presented with your titles and rank in your response.
