I would say 0.5 seconds is enough. Or more precisely, we simply should not be able to cast it before the downed skill bar appears.
But what annoys me the most is the second part of your complaint, that you saddly seem resigned to accept as normal behavior
WHY THE HELL DO WE GET ADDITIONAL DOWNED PENALTY WHEN USING VAPOR FORM???!!!
I got mine from a chest in a Dungeon.
If they drop from monsters I think it’s a pretty rare loot. And seeing what it contains I’m glad it is. I mean seriously, the grey trophies junk give more money than this kitten. And monsters can loot up to 80 copper.
No need to have a bag, just add 3 copper to the loot, thank you very much.
Imho it is a bug, or maybe it’s an old object they forgot to remove from the game. It has really no reason to exist otherwise. Unless it is a sadistic developer who created it “You think you actually droped something good? … Nope! Gotcha!” XD
That is not market manipulation, that is massive speculation before the Halloween update of what ingredients will be used in halloween recipes.
There was some information (I don’t know from where) that there will be a recipe called “Spicy pumpkin…” whatever, and thus people thinking Spicy -> chilli pepper.
People then bought a lot in order to sell back later expecting the prices to rise.
Then the update came. No chilli pepper in the recipe, everyone sell and the prices comes back to normal.
And it happened to a lot of ingredients.
That’s an Economic bubble, as in real life. And last time I checked speculation is not forbbiden by law, even when its consequences can be catastrofic… but that’s another debate.

Hello
I had the same thing happen to me. Found a bag of gold, I was like "wow nice never seen that object, let’s open it ! "
…3 copper
Sure I was not expecting to get one gold, but a least one or two silver. What’s the point of having an object that takes inventory space if it is to get much less than a regular mob drop in copper. Sounds like -yet another- bug to me.
:(
I love this puzzle. Took me 4h before managing to finish it, but afterwards I dit it again with all my characters for the fun of it… running and seeing everyone falling behind me
I love how people balme the fact they fail on te Char and Norn. Yes they are annoying… the first five tries. The camera is a much bigger issue imho, as sometimes it zooms in and out at the beginning (which combined with Char and Norn is quite bad, but the camera is more to blame than the crowd)
Once you pass that, it is just a problem of skill (and habit, it is so much easier when you know the road by heart )
My whole guild SOLOED the mad king, because we didn’t manage to get in the same instance. It is sad that this known bug since day one (and even before) is still not corrected.
Fun facts: the warriors finished when everyone else was at 40%-60%
The last to finish were a necro and an elem (me)
To be honest, I was absolutely not built to to solo anything, since, you know, it was supposed to be a group event… But I guess some professions can be excesively good both solo and in group without having to respec anything…
I was lucky though, I finished him in aprox 1h, and just after the big server crash happened
Very nice of you
Also, well done gathering statistics on number of hours played by forum posters!
Here goes my screen
Lol I loved that part, we had a lot of fun doing it (and it took a long time to do it). If you really can’t, find a mesmer who can. I feel like TP is OP for jumping puzzle and the like though… ^^

@Laurs: I think the OP might have a similar issue to me because it looks like the whole coputer locked down, when actually it is “just” the video (well the keyboard does not respond either so it is a bit more than the video, but sound still works, for a while at least)
Of course it is true it could be a different problem.
For the temperature, I played Skyrim with “ultra” graphics, for hours and it made my GPU reach 75 degrees, without a crash for more than 200h of playing. With GW2 I never go higher than 70, and I can have the lockup within seconds of starting the game sometime, my graphic card could not have overheated in such little time (unless GW2 is making my GPU fan stop, which is absurd)
And again if it was realy related to my hardware, GPU, power supply or anything else, I should have the problem when doing benchmark, memtest, or playing Skyrim…
And for your last remark it is not that. I tried modifying every parameters in the Nvidia panel including this one, but that did not solve the problem.
Undercloacking did, but I have no idea why…
Edit: Actually this thread just came back to the top.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Crash-Black-Screen-Issue-NVIDIA
But it is the exact issue I was talking about: lots of people with relatively similar symptoms, that actually come from very different problems…

Welcome to the club of the people whith random sutdown with NO
Inadequate Power Supply and NO Overheating.
Actaully there are a lot of people with that problem, but their messages get lost with people having different crash problems.
Symptoms: after a random amount of time, the screen goes black with “no signal”. However the sound may continue to play.
However the temperatures are OK (passed 3DMark benchmark making the GPU and CPU go to the highest temperature with no crash)
Same for power supply (the benshmark make the computer use a lot more power than GW2, and I have 850W from a good brand, don’t tell me that’s not enough)
Reformating does not change anything, using different version of drivers does not change anything, modifiying graphical options does not change anything (well, maybe it changes the time between crashes, but difficult to be sure)
Underclocking the card seem to increase the time between the crashes a lot and even “solve” the problem for many people with this specific problem (If you call that a solution)
(If you want to try this solution: Nvidia Inspector

Good luck
“ugh, got 21 first go, 15 second, and 16 my third sighs the mystic forge hates me”
Lol I just made one try… I got 10. Worst result possible I believe, on first try. FML (Fu** My Luck XD)
@LameFox: and then a guy misclics and start an auto attack and the massacre begins XD
@Linsey : Great ! Can I have an additional 7 orichalcum as compensation?… Just kidding
3 – Go to character selection → create new character → clic on Thief → Big jump in damage

WvWvW Jumping puzzle in the Eternal Battlegrounds
@Ajaxx: it depends… if you compare it to the downed state of ele, yes it is XD
Yes I found a rich orichalcum node (first time I see one !) and i got only 3 go at it, not the usual 10. No need to say I was very disapointed :-/
(I was not in combat, I did not interupt the mining or anything).
People in my group had the same thing on that node.
I will have to try if it is now like this for all rich nodes

Same question: report under what cathegory?
That’s exactly why I created this suggestion post: add a other / comment section for reporting so that we can explain the situation when it is not a “standard” report.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Report-comment
Hello
Yes it has been reported here
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Annoying-Sound-Bug
A workaround that seemed to have worked for me is to lower the Sound Quality in the sound otpions. (I had it at max, now it is one tic before max)
Same here
Elementalist here (recorded laughs)
And it is only for 2 traits lines (Fire and Air) that it does it, not the other ones (where I have only one customisable trait, while the ones that reset have two customisable traits)
What you don’t like waiting during the 5 loading screens?
Yes 5:
1 Go to Heart of the Mist
2 Go through Lion’s Arch HotM Portal
3 TP to Lion’s Arch Cities portal zone
4 Go through “The City you want” Portal
5 TP to the TP you wanted to begin with
…
Time is money after all (but I feel you pain, the loading are quite long)

Hello
I think it could be interesting to add a text box to allow the player reporting another player to explain the reason. You can limit its size as I guess you might not want to read a wall of text, but I think it could be helpful for the support recieving the reports.
Because the choices are rather limited, so sometimes you want to add some explanations, such as “I believe this player is a bot beacause ….” or “This player is exploiting a bug ….” etc…
I have only reported gold sellers so far, I put them in the “Spammer” catergory, but I am not even sure it is the good one.
Edit: with today update I see there is now an option for gold selling and botting. I still think a comment section would be nice though for uncommon cases.
Cheers

Edit: Actually the links given by Tyler are also about fixing the root certificate problem. My solution is just a different way of doing the same thing. It is independant of your version of Windows though.
Hey guys
I will post again here a solution that seems to work for some people (But not every one unfortunately)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Cannot-access-trading-company-at-all/first#post137523
I had the same problem during the last BWE, and I posted my solution here but of course it has been erased since.
I did a lot of research (because I really wanted to have the TP working for the release) and I managed to pin down the issue to a security certificate problem. Here is what worked for me:
- Open Internet Explorer (even if you don’t like it ) and go to http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx
- Search for KB931125
- Download the relevant package for your system (for instance Update for Root Certificates for Windows 7 [April 2012] (KB931125) )
- Execute it on your computer.
Note : There is no message saying it executed, so it might looks like nothing happened, but it installed the certificates.
- Enjoy
Tell me if it worked for you!

No, simple substitutions like that are not any more secure, and are easily guessed at. Almost any pattern-substitution or symbol-substitution currently used for password creation has been discovered, analyzed, and incorporated into modern day password-cracking software. Again, Schneier wrote about this in 2007.
That means things like:
1337-5p34|< substitutions
spatial pattern usage (e.g., !qAz@wSx#eDc)
any known substitution cypher (and there are many)
spatially-shifted symbol substitution (e.g., “yjododsyrdy” for “thisisatest”)
omission-based passwords (e.g., “thsstst” for “thisisatest”)
reordering-based passwords (e.g., “tsetasisiht”)
simple symbol appending or prepending (e.g., 123thisisatest123)
…and so on, and so on.If you can think of it, it’s almost certainly already been used ad nauseam, analyzed extensively, and incorporated into cracking software. Humans simply aren’t good at generating randomness, i.e., true, high Shannon entropy.
@Mcl: of course you are right, it is not as good as a true random password, but the point in doing this is that it basically transform a “simple” dictionnary attack into a “kind of” brute force attack, because for each word you have to try all the possible substitutions, omission, reordering etc…
And a brute force attack can’t succeed on a remote autentication with high latency like it is the case for GW2.
Mcl is right, such a password is not as strong as it may seem, because the words came from the english dictionnary. (You know, as in “dictionnary attack”).
And even if hackers don’t use such efficient multiple dictionnary attacks for now, that’s just because not many people use such password. But they can addapt very easily.
However, a minor trick will make it strong: replace some of the letters with symbols, like
corr3ct horse ba|tery 5taple
Now you password is really solid, and easy to remember. (It was actually discussed in the forum thread of XKCD)
Cheers

@Logun: +1, our login should be our Account Name (What is their purpose otherwise?), not our mail address.
Edit: well actally it should be our Account Name… if it was not advertised to every one like on this forum. Or at least the 4 random number should be hidden on the forum.
@VooDooU: I highly doubt your husband password was “brute forced”. Much more likely it was a dictionnary attack: trying a list of “common” and other easy passwords, like 123456, password01, qwerty, including variations etc…
A pure brute force attack is way too slow. Suppose a trial takes 1 second, trying all combinations of numbers only from 0 to 999999 would take 11 days. And I didn’t included letters. A brute force attack is only viable on a local authentication, where you can perform thousands or millions of trials per seconds. With a remote authentication the latency before obtaining the result basically kills this technique.

I agree, Anet should make clear statments very quickly when such exploits are found. Because otherwise :
- If they ban people, there will be a storm of kittens beacause “It was not clear it was an exploit” (Which they can’t claim if Anet advertise it very quickly)
- If they don’t punish the exploiters in any way, there will still be a storm of kittens beacause it means “we should have all exploited to get the most of it, it is unfair for the non exploiters.”
Note1: I am not necessarily in favor of bans, but at least removal of what was obtained from exploiting
Note2: I added the kittens myself

Hello
Yes it did got butter after the change (sorry for the bad pun XD)
But it is not enough. As mentionned it is really absurd to drop low level cooking ingredient like butter from high tier bags.
Instead you should either remove it from those bags, or make the high tier bag drop… high tier cooking material maybe (I mean… that’s just the most logical thing to do. If you add cooking material in bags, make it follow the tiers like the rest of the crafting material from those bags.)
Hello
Why do we have to log in for each different language?
Shouldn’t we be able to post on any language forum by login only once?
Minor problem, but can be annoying for someone who likes to often use the different forums.

Why our Elites are our least usefull skills?
Mist form (downed state skill)
Sometimes at the end of the skill, I get in the defeated state without beeing back to downed. It usually happens when I do it for the third or fourth time in a row, independantly of the amount of “downed health” I had before using mist form. Espesially annoying when at last you managed to lose the aggro.
I suspect getting in and out mist for actually stacks the downed penalty while I don’t belive it should be the case (we should be considered to be in the “same” downed state the whole time)
I have that suspicion because in sPvP, when using mist form, I will see on the notification telling who downed who, that I basically downed myself when the skill ends.
Not to mention our downed state is a joke (I know, not a bug, working as intened…)
Mist Form (The normal skill)
Allready talked about, the dots from bleed, poison, fire etc… kills us even though we are supposed to be “invicible”. Some argue that it is working as intended. Maybe it is the case, but considering how often we recieve those conditions it reduce the usefulness of the skill a lot. Because I used to use this skill as my “Oh Shi*” button. Except now it is my “Oh Shi*… Oh Shi*” button. The first one is “Oh Shi* I am going to die, let’s flee”, the second is “Oh Shi* I forgot this skill is useless when I am already low on life”.
So either don’t apply the dots while in mist form (and reapply them after), or if it is woking as intended, at least let the skill last for its whole duration, and when it ends, if we happen to be at 0 life, get in downed state. But it is really infuraiting to use mist form… and get downed half a second later.

I had that problem a few days ago. I exited GW and logged back in and it worked again…
Just to know… did you set your status to invisible ? Because I did before this bug happened. I became visible again after, but it is only by restarting the game that the bug disapeared.
Hello
I had this bug several times when fighting Dragons (any) with lots of people around.
I also had a bug where some very specific sounds effects were amplified one hundred time, while the rest of the sound track was at normal level. I think I had people around (well… there is always people around ^^), but not as much.
Usualy I do not know what is the source of the sound effect, but one time I was convinced it was the sound of the flapping of the wings of a fire elemental invoqued by an elementalist (However my own fire elemental invocation, as I am also an elemntalist, never triggered that bug so far)
Hello
I have the exact same issue since BWE1. Lots of post have been made during this time, but are erased now unfortunately.
What came out was that:
- This problem is not entirely GW2 fault, as it happened to me, and other people, on Diablo 3 and GW1 as well. But it seems to happen much more often and quickly in GW2
- The best solution offered was to downclock your graphic card by 20%, using Nvidia Inspector (For Nvidia users obviously, but there should be similar tools for other graphic cards)
http://downloads.guru3d.com/NVIDIA-Inspector-1.9.6.6-download-2612.html
Of course I won’t call this a good solution, but at least I get to play without crashing with that solution.
I hope they solve it someday, but I have little hope seeing how random and undebuggable it is. (No crash log, nothing)
