The hacker has your email and is attempting to “force” a password through. I would suggest you run an antivirus scan using two separate anti-virus suites. Then change the password to both your email and your game account. Do not use the same password for both.
If an attempt has been made twice, then the hacker probably KNOWS a specific password that you have used, and is now using a variation of the password in order to break into your account.
You need to immediately change both the password to your email and game accounts immediately after running anti-virus scans, like TODAY.
Be aware, you’ll receive an automated response, saying they have received your ticket. Make sure you use that ticket # for all future responses. Live support will be anywhere between 1-7 days, depending on how backlogged they are, be patient, follow their instructions, and you’ll be fine.
Every version of the back piece that was lower than your upgraded version, will be unlocked as a skin. If you have the 8 bladed, then the 2,4,6 bladed versions will be unlocked.
And as stated above, you’ll only get the one color of the back piece when you max it out. In order to get the other colors, you will have to craft a new one, with the different upgrade component in order to Unlock the other colored versions.
That was an exploit?
:) Save your copper, silver, gold, and platinum! Especially for the Xunlai Elecrum ingots too!
It’s true, China has a department for agents to access MMORPG’s on the internet. And they monitor the community for seditious materials and content. You and I may think it’s stupid but…it’s true…and it’s no laughing matter. The “official” Beijing governments stance on MMORPG’s is that they are a nuisance, and a bad influence on the populace, and instills “wrong thinking elements which must be stamped out.”
It’s a serious political issue in china.
I have no doubt that, the department in question will be in “touch” with anets Chinese version, in order to make a few “suggestions”, if those suggestions haven’t already been made. :p

Well, I main ranger since beta. I have noticed in WvW alone that I survive longer due to the less amount of damage being put down on me. I did notice that people were starting to congregate in team groups MORE though in order to make up the loss in one on one damage fights. Basically an increase to havoc teams, and a larger buddy system it taking place.
Did the event for Lyssa and, usually I’m downed 0-2 times per event… if even that. Due to the change in the Lyssa Runes however, I was downed 5-6 times. The #6 ruin was changed in such a way, that when I hit my elite, I no longer receive all boons for so many seconds. Instead any condition, up to 5, will be changed INTO boons. I survived longer in WvW fights due to the Critical changes, but I became less helpful during a chain Event in PvE due to changes in my ruins that I use.
I’d have to say it’s a case by case study. There were a lot of rangers doing Zerker, and I was not one of them, so that whole doing more critical damage, was NOT a big loss for me personally.
I did take advantage however of the Two Sigils for two-handed weapons. I’m still experimenting with my version of a Tormented Ranger build. But it looks promising.
Also, it might not even be anything related to a keylogger on your own system.
Ways that a hacker could have gained your email/password information.
1. Using the same email/password on a website that has been compromised.
2. Your email being compromised due to a compromise of your email provider.
(Yahoo officially acknowledged in December 2013, that they were indeed hacked and information on over roughly 1 million accounts were possibly attained. The largest portion being Yahoo users…but some of that information was also roughly several hundred thousand users that were of not Yahoo origin, including MSN, Firefox, and other Email Providers. Supposedly yahoo did make those account users change their password.)
3. If your living in a college dormitory, sadly any system you use is considered a Slave, and not a Master account. That means, the administrator to the college computer system will have access to the Master account, AND in a certain fashion be able to keylog any data you enter. Not every college uses this format, but a small % DOES.
(Besides the hacker himself, only one other person had shown me at one time how this is done, and I wasn’t to happy with it, since they were able to show at that time, what my password was at the time I typed it in FROM ANOTHER ROOM. I’m sure there are several “Smart, intelligent, and highly technical” college level pukes that play this game, that will read this and say…that’s not possible. Well my friend is a lot smarter than many college level pukes put together when it comes to computers. And I trust him more than I trust you people.)
4. Every day music/game/porn downloads. Many of you visit different sites every day. Most of what you download is from supposed sites that are “safe to surf”. If you were downloading music, that wasn’t from an official retailer with an actual business license….how safe could it be?
After you have been hacked…Aftermath.
Ascertain the amount of damage to your account, and WHEN the damage occurred. You can request an account roll back to the last date a Snap Shot occurred, before the date hacked. Unfortunately you WILL have to know when you last logged in, when everything was peachy keen. Anet used a response when I was hacked that caused me some confusion, because they had asked me when I had noticed the hack, instead of “When was your last actual Login date.” The reason for this is, if you were gone two weeks, and you answer them that you just noticed…today…they will have erroneous information of possibly when the actual hack occurred, and which Snap Shot date to use.
1. Use two separate virus checkers. I use Symantec, but even that didn’t pick up the twenty-seven Trojans, that Super Anti-Spyware did pick up. The Big Boy security suites, do NOT pick up everything.
2. After running the two separate security sweeps, from two separate companies, change your email password. If you change your email password before running the sweeps, the hacker could still be using a keylogger on your system to gain the new password.
3. Change the password to your game account. But do not use the same password as you use for your email account. Do not use a password that you are using on other sites.
4. Make a support ticket up above, contacting anet and giving them as much detail as possible. You should receive an automated response, within a short period. You should receive live help, depending on how backlogged they are, within 1-7 days.
Detailing when you last logged out, when everything appeared normal, and when you logged back in to notice the damage due to hack, does help. It gives anet a time frame of where and when to look for specific credentials of who logged into your account, and from where.
Make sure you do request the Account Roll Back. Be aware the Account Roll Back is from a separate department than the actual folks that deal with hacked accounts. Which means every hacked account is a case by case, first come, first serve basis. Just follow the instructions that Anet Support staff gives you, and everything will turn out kosher.
By the way, do NOT purchase any gems, or material that can only be purchased through the use of Gems, until AFTER the roll back occurs. If you buy gems, or anything in relation to gem material before the roll back occurs, You will LOSE those gems, and the material in question. If you do, you will have to submit a NEW ticket in order to deal with any gem purchases after the fact. The Snap Shot is exactly what it says. Your account will revert to a specific time frame from before the hack occurring. Anything gained after that date will be lost.

Yah hang in there, Response time is 3-7 days depending on backlog. And in some cases usually the same day.
Any pet that gives an AoE Boon, or an AoE condition would best suit you in a Zerg. However most of those Boons and/or Conditions only effect a limited amount of enemies. The idea is to sow as much confusion in the enemy ranks as possible, instead of having a pet doing 1 on 1 during a large scale enemy cluster jelly schmuck.
I know if your jumping off from a great height, go toughness.
Yah, it’s like some kitten that would purchase 4 accounts, and linked three separate toons from three separate accounts, to the 4th toon on the fourth account by use of a macro, and then run the 4th toon around. The sucker would go around attacking 1 target, but the use of the macro would make them all attack the same target.
Hence why it looks really really weird sometimes when I see a very tight knit group, doing some very strange movement. As in Formation Cadence movement that you only see in military service. Left face, march all at the same time, right face double time all at the same time. That sort of thing gets NOTICED big time.
I am sorry Gambino, for the (somewhat) thread hijacking. I didn’t originally plan to write more than the first post. Just needed to share my feelings on the situation somewhere. I’ll clam up for now.
KeyOrion – I think you mistake the intentions of my posts.
Inculpatus cedo – Thanks. I just wanted to relieve some stress by talking about the situation.
I waited 3 weeks, with each response from anet being up to 3-4 days per communique. I’m not saying their slow at all. I’m saying that eventually they would get to you.
I am saying that there is a large player base, they have limited personel, and these things will take time.
:) And yes, I was impatient to get BACK into the game, just like everyone else here.
Three million players. Do you believe that Arenanet has hundreds of support personal?
Three million players, with maybe dozens of tickets created PER hour, and limited support personel.
They will get to it. Believe me. Response is usually 2-7 business days, not including the weekends.
I seen lots of cursing almost everywhere, PvP, PvE, Wvw…I know I’ve cursed up quite a storm many times in WvW…
However most of my curses were of general inept tactical or strategic paths our team took. I’m sure if I was directing my curses in a derogatory manner towards an individual, or a group of individuals, then I too would be reported and receive either warning or suspension. But then again, you don’t get a warning, so it would be a suspension. The only people that would give you warning is the other Players that you may be directing your comments towards.
I treat suspensions like I treat “Dishonorable” from Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry GW1 days. First time is short period, with ever increasing punishment for repeated behavior. How long that lasts due to foul language or verbal abuse…not a clue.
Unfortunately, screenshots can not be used as proof of ownership past or present, mostly because any screenshot can be doctored or altered at the users end. It’s like when back in the 1940-1950’s tape recordings could not be used as evidence due to cut and paste techniques at the time, and then recording that on a separate uncut reel.
Give you an idea. Anet already has stated that each item in the original Guild Wars has a unique identification number and a history of items created on any one account. A gentleman not long ago, say a month or two, wrote a forum post with a screen cap saying he accidently threw his legendary into the Mystic Forge. He wrote up a support ticket and sent it to anet in order to get it back.
Anet’s response was, that the person never had the actual Legendary in question, because said item was never to have shown to have ever landed on his character or account. Didn’t matter that he had a screenshot, because the screenshots can be doctored, like I stated above.
If your screenshot is in fact the actual truth, I’m sorry for your loss. I’m not saying it’s not true. It’s just that…screenshots can’t really be used as evidence of property ownership gain/loss.

Do nothing for hackers and blame the victims

Two hour span, 32 reported hacks.
Those reports were basically placed in the wrong forum, and instead of being changed to Support forum they were deleted. That was also day one of the Cloudflare attack. People are still wondering about that.
If it’s PvE, they can easily Waypoint, especially if they been dead for 5 or more minutes.
They’re probably AFK.
Or XP farming…it’s a rather stupid way, but the monster hits the character, then if the monster is later killed by someone else, supposedly the AFK guy also gains XP from the “combat” from being attacked by the monster/NPC. It’s a cheap method to level up.
If it’s a “asdf” “ffffllil” or any garbage name with letters randomly all over…I would leave those dead, mostly because I believe those to be botters. I won’t res those.
They do state to think carefully before creating your account. And it’s a security matter. A hacker could hack your email send a message to anet to have the account name changed, making it even harder to regain your account.
It’s also keeps people from doing something their not supposed to be doing in the game, and go into hiding under another pseudo-name or alias.
There are two terms I would like you to remember though.
“Buyer beware.”
“Read the fine print.”
When you created the name you used for the account, you also signed an agreement with two button options. “I agree”, and “I disagree”. And if you have account, I can only state that you did press the “I agree” button. The policy statement and contract you “signed” shows policy issues in relation to Privacy.
Still, make a Support Ticket, just like Astral said above, you maybe lucky. If your unlucky I would suggest to go back and read the Policy/Contract that you signed.
I really do not reckomend people to attempt Legendary Soulbound transfers, mostly because I read that the item is lost and/or destroyed in the process.
I’ve read 15 older posts and 3 newer one’s stating that the items were destroyed or lost. So if you don’t know what it all entails, I wouldn’t attempt it, if you did not feel confidant that it may even work.
When in doubt, don’t do it.

Two fold.
It keeps people from immediately transferring for WvW season start.
And if the account was immediately compromised, where a hacker is attempting to move a new account to an area, where they can bot. There are certain servers which I would say are LAX with bot patrol, in certain locations.
Anet does have security reasons in place for certain eventualities. We may NOT like them, we may NOT agree with them…but there it is.
You can shout all you want that “I’m a customer, I should come first.” There’s nearly 3 million customers of the game, and each individual is given an equal opportunity to state their case, through a Support Ticket, and hope for the best.
However, since support is backlogged, that could be anywhere between 2-7 working business days, NOT including the weekends. By the time they do read the mail, or are in a position to deal with the problem, chances are seven days may pass.
Then again, they maybe able to deal with the problem fairly quickly, BUT a Support Ticket again must be created.
Support Tab is at the top of the screen, just follow the instructions layed out. Be patient. If there are any complaints, the support staff always listens, AND forwards those complaints on to their superiors. This is how Customer service is usually improved upon for future transactions with the public.
A clear line of communications is always needed between the consumer of a product, and the manufacturer of the product. Namely you and the Arenanet team.
Thankyou for your support.
If you get a request showing a login attempt from an unknown city/country, anet says your account has already been compromised. Since a hacker would have to have your email and password already. All the hacker then needs is for authorization to login to your account from their location.
I thought it quite strange 8 months ago, when I received several account login authentifications for Xeiquang.CN and Beijing.CN
Of course, at that time, I did not know that the hackers HAD my email AND password already. That was probably at the same time, when anet forced everyone to reset their password to a two OR more alpha/numeric worded password sets.
Actually the information on Security was pretty awesome. Although I would use random names/places/objects. You use catch phrases, and chances are the hacker will figure that out, using the most common catch phrases to figure out your password.
“I’ll be back” <—- is not a good password, nor is any of Arnold’s many catchphrases.
(edited by KeyOrion.9506)
I’m hoping that Anet isn’t using a “Snapshots on Friday” sort of program. Although I find it odd that the first rollback would have stated it THAT far back. This would tell me they’d only have two snapshots. One for when your characters was first created, when your account was created. And a second snapshot at the end of the week, on Friday’s.
They usually ask you, on what date, do you remember everything being OK on your account. Or in my case they asked me on what date I NOTICED that my account was hacked. The problem with that statement is, if i was gone three days, and the hack occurred on the first day I was gone, i would have told them I noticed the hack on the day I got BACK. That would have meant I would be giving anet incorrect information.
When they ask you when you noticed the hack, you should also be telling them on the last DATE and hour that you had last logged off, when everything was alright. That is the information they should be looking at when they start looking at Snapshots on or prior to the date you last noticed everything was cool.
You may wish to ask them if there is a Snapshot that was prior to the 7th of march. If the Snapshot occurred AFTER you were hacked, then all your material would still be gone. And Anet better be that smart to realize that.
Seems rather odd that the hackers have begun to delete characters. That’s the third response I’ve read stating that all their characters were deleted. An account restoration will return everything to a previous state on a selected snapshot date.
That sounds more like an escalation, on the part of hackers. Almost as if the hackers have begun to “retaliate”, for some unperceived infraction.
Unless the hacker still had control of the account, and wanted a rollback in order to resell the material all over again. There’s no other reason why a hacker would Delete the characters.
Chances are, if you do not run virus checks, change your passwords, then the hacker has a second shot at your gear after the rollback, and that’s probably what their hoping for. They’re probably hoping you will not run more than one security program to check for viruses/key loggers/Trojans. If you use Norton or McGaffee, better find another program to run. Check with your FRIENDS, with what they’d reckomend for a free virus checker.

Could be hacker, or could be a Lag Timeout. The lag timeout happens a lot at my work. Basically it’s like a footprint or ghost left behind on the server, even though your not connected. It’s caused by an improper logout from your system. You have to wait a couple of minutes, before the server detects that there is no actual communication between the two systems. After a preprogrammed time, it’ll shutdown the footprint/ghost, because it no longer detects communication going on. After that you should be able to login just fine. The reason I use the term “preprogrammed”, is because the programmer has taken into account that there maybe intermittent contact with the two systems, and is allowing enough time for a reconnection due to disruption in communications.
It could be something as simple as a corrupted file, which does happen from time to time.
If the problem persists, contact support.
But…when in doubt. Run a security sweep, then change your email and/or gw2 password if you find anything oddball. Just don’t use the same password for your email and gw2 account.
(edited by KeyOrion.9506)
1. Use two separate security programs, download current updates, and run both.
2. Change your email password. If you change the password, BEFORE running the security checks, then your still giving away information on a compromised system.
3. Gain access, or regain control of your account by changing the password there.
4. Take stock of how much damage was done to your account, if any damage is known. Material salvaged, or stolen, across all characters, personal Bank, and Guild Bank.
5. Create a support ticket, and follow instructions given by Arenanet support. (There is a first come, first served basis, and support is limited….be very patient. You could have support in a matter of hours, or 3-4 days later, depending on how backlogged they are. Patience is a virtue.)
If you run the security sweep, usually it’ll tell you where the Trojan/malware was located in a particular file. Find out the name of the File the virus was found in. What do you usually put in that file? Downloaded games from the internet? Music from a particular Shareware site? Third party programs that you use for Guild Wars 2 or any other game that you play? Not every single virus is going to come from an Email. Sometimes it could be something innocuous as misspelling a certain word to a popular site.
Guild Wars 2, with a single letter misspelled in a search, could redirect you to a site that absolutely looks just like Guild Wars 2, but has any number of links to download viruses to your system. Same thing with Amazon.com, which had several sites that looked just like it, but were misspelled, or used .cn or .rs (China and Russia respectively). Make sure the site you want to visit is spelled correctly and the correct address site.
Using the same email address and password on third party sites. Old/new player Guild sites, or any number of businesses which may have data breaches. Target. Yahoo. Chase Bank. If those are compromised, and you use the same email and password for Guild Wars, then you might as well have handed the keys to your account.
Be aware of one thing. If you receive an email stating that an attempt to login from another location had occurred, and it wants to confirm if that location is kosher to login to your account…and the location shows CN (CHINA)…don’t PUSH any link. This means that the Hacker ALREADY has your Email address AND your password. You need to immediately just delete the email, go to your account and CHANGE your password immediately. Afterwards use the steps above. You’ll probably have to change your password AGAIN, because your system probably is already compromised.
Changing your password before running a system virus check, is only a speed bump at best, but chances are, the hacker has already changed your password for you. You have to move fast.
I’m finding that the hackers rummage on multiple accounts that they can get into, but don’t necessarily act immediately. They’ll probably have a LIST of targets to hit all at the same time. I’ve already talked to individuals that were ALL hacked on the same date I had been. The hacker will target multiple accounts, move fast, to get as much as possible before detection.
I think the hacker was selling 1000g for $100 on this last weekend on Saturday? For those that don’t know any better, that gold had to come from somewhere, and if the gold came from a compromised account, you will be banned. Even the gold has tag markers. They may not get the hacker. But they will get the buyer of illicit goods.
If for some reason gold MAGICALLY appears on your account, REPORT IT! Chances are, your account is being used as a proxy by the hacker. If you see anything out of the ordinary on your account, REPORT IT. Items appearing/disappearing? I’d be kitten ed suspicious.

It states matter of factly you’ll be able to transfer once every 7 days. Whether you pay gems or not. As long as he doesn’t create any characters, after 7 days, he’ll be able to change server, free of charge.
That’s not a bug, it’s a statement that Anet has put out repeatedly. Although their rehashed statement does not include that particular line of being able to change server for free if there ARE no characters present on the account what so ever. That usually has to be repeated by the players in these forums.
I’ve already read some of the Copy & Paste statements given to the players from Support. That particular information is left out on some of them, which makes it look like new players would have to be forced to purchase Gems in order to fix. Several players have already displayed their displeasure about that omission.

Do nothing for hackers and blame the victims

When I was hacked, the only statement the hacker sent to Anet was, “I forgot my password. Please help me.” Simple and short. Supposedly it came from my email account, but I can not fully verify that, since the only thing I FOUND in my inbox was an email from Anet with a Ticket #, and nothing showing an email sent from my location.
If the hacker was helped by anet, then the hacker received far faster support service, than the actual account owner. With me being the account owner, I found that thought quite disturbing beyond all measure.
The only thing I can say is that my email provider’s service did have a data breach back in December of 2012. But the service provider did not share that information until January of this year. Go figure.
1. Shutdown all programs, run anti-virus/keylogger check.
2. Download, or use, a seperate anti-virus program and run that also, preferably one that you know to be safe or your friends have suggested as safe.
3. After running the two security checks, go to your email, and change your password.
If you change the password, before running anti-virus checks, any keylogger present will then have your new password to your email account.
4. Use your Ticket # that was provided to you by Anet Support in all responses to anet from this point on, unless directed by Anet Support staff otherwise.
The reason I reckomend two seperate Anti-Virus programs to be used, is one will pick up something, that the other definitely missed. And you would be surprised what some big brand name security services miss.
Also, if something does show, it’ll show which file it was in your computer, and the name of the file. This can easily tell you, what things to never download again, or what sites to never go to again. Most keyloggers are Trojans, and usually are 3rd party programs that you purposely or accidently downloaded.
Then again, Target did have that data breach, and Yahoo.com admitted in January a Data breach back in December of 2012. So if your a Yahoo user, I fully reckomend you run virus checks, then change your own password right now. And if you shopped target online and used the same email/password as you do in the game…same thing.
If you receive an email from anet asking for your password, do not give it, and do not click any links. They don’t need your password, because they HAVE your password. The password is only used to login into the game, it’s not used as a Personal Verification of account ownership.

I never said thanks either to the full support team at Anet, but thankyou also.
The great and all powerful Kittah of Tyria shares a plentitude of poptarts to you all.
Sometimes a thanks is all it takes.
Sylvari is the closest faery you’d get to play in the game.
Other than that, there is interest in:
Quaggons
Largos
Tengu
Kodan
Centaur (believe it or not)
Dwarves (maybe a clan that was not from the Shiverpeaks)
The Forgotten (from original Guild Wars)
Mursaat
The Seer
Margonites (there has been a small minority wishing big time)
Harpy’s
=^o.o^= All hail kittah! Savior of the cosmos! Holder of the universal yarn ball of harmony!
Slayer of poptarts!
Enemy of the great god Lagg!
Kittah luvs you, but thinks that your silly thinking that nobody roleplays around these parts.
As stated in Topic, directed at the Dev’s of Arenanet.
What profession does the Dev’s at Arenanet play the most often? Players are very curious. Unfortunately I can not take “substantiated confirmation” from other players. So, it has to be a Dev that can answer what they main.
Any glass cannon that can 1-2, or 1-2-3 hits and down an opponent 100% of the time…I believe to be way over the top.
Toughness doesn’t seem to do jack squat unless you fall from a cliff. Whereas vitality against a 1-2 hit is the only thing that’ll keep people up and in combat.
But then you stealth if the enemy survives, then go back at them with pistol whip, stun, 1-2 hit, and their down.
Can’t hit a target, if your not allowed to target an enemy in stealth mode. We can AoE blanket the area, but most thieves will pull back a distance.
Then you have 3-5 players, wasting their time, playing pin the tail on the thief to take them out.
People don’t “cry” about it.
Their just kittened OFF about it. There is a difference.
Unfortunately I fully believe that 1/2 the team in arenet main nothing BUT thieves. I seen one play necromancer, and was quite SHOCKED. But, seen nothing but a lot of Dev thieves during logins in way to many areas.
Give the pet an F5 where it can “smell” something hidden in a certain direction.
I still say all they need to do for the pet is increase the attack speed, and increase the movement speed of the pet.
The F2 is directly in relation to the skills Area Effect skill. If the pet bites then the pet has to be at the target. IF the pet breaths fire, then it still has to be at a certain distance from target before the F2 kicks in. Same with poison and stuns.
The F2 isn’t as broken as we think it is. It’s just that each pet has to be within a certain range of the target for that particular pets F2 to function. I almost wish that there was a RING around the pet that would show how close the pet needs to be for it’s F2 function to work.
Rapid Fire spread the damage out per arrow, and not all the arrows will hit either a moving or dodging target, drastically reducing damage to 1/8 to 1/4 absolute damage overall. The only time you’ll hit with all arrows on Rapid Fire is if the enemy is running straight away from you, or directly towards you. That’s the only time you may get 100% hit on all arrows.
Of course certain shield elements with elementalist, Mesmer, and Guardian, will redirect your entire firepower back at you, and allow them to continue to pour damage upon you. You basically kill yourself, because your hitting yourself in the head, all the while that the enemy is doing too.
-when your 3 buddy’s that you know, invite you knowing your a ranger, and the 4th pug guy goes, “Lol! ranger?!”, at the start of a dungeon run.
Get me some runes where I can increase knock back distance, or party runes where the 6th rune gives me % chance to summon a Disco Ball when /dance is emoted.
Big difference between knock back and knockdown.
That’s the difference between a ranger with a bow, and warrior with hammer.
My only real concern for putting a pet away is that, if I’m in combat, I have a 25% speed boost with certain skills. Unfortunately if my pet is hit, while I’m attempting to run through, around an enemy, my skill is shot and the pet creates a Drag effect due to “Combat Conditions”. I put my pet away in order for the enemy to attempt to hit just me, not “oh look, there’s two targets, all I have to do is hit the pet, and that will cause a Drag effect on the ranger”.
Once the drag effect hits, I’m so slowed, I’m unable to break past the combat area.
Remember in the good old days of GW1 when the pet died, ALL your skills would go on cooldown, basically turning you into a level 20 piece of meat for vital seconds? BOY that was FUN!
You know, doesn’t matter how new or old you are to the GW2 game, but every time I see the answers that people give, it’s usually, “Go zerker.”
Zerker this and zerker that….I almost seriously want to cry. He could have posted that he would rather support, and someone would have stated, “Zerker.” Or if he had responded he wanted to go trait line beast mastery, again many have responded, “zerker”.
I think we really need to go back to the original way we used to play, and that was get what seems best to work for you. That means, take a good hard look at what your actually going to be doing, or have been doing. What your doing now, is probably what your going to be doing later in game. Most people will choose setups specifically for PvE, PvP, WvW, or just straight up Fractal or Dungeon runs.
On almost every last one of those people have repeatedly argued Zerker, or Non-Zerker.
And the answer does not have to be “zerker”.
Find your niche, go from there. Give you an idea. I tried that whole, running what other people run, and…it wasn’t what I wanted, and it wasn’t what I needed. I ran the gear that best suited MY play style. There is usually an argument of what you want to run, and what others WANT you to run, in order to RUN with them. Don’t get railroaded into something your not going to be happy with later on.

It’s a point of contention with many arguments, which can be found all over the ranger forum. To be a true ranger, play with what works for your own particular style of fun.
You will have so called “elite rangers”, more like anal retentive “there’s only one way…” people that actually kinda ruin the fun of actually being a ranger.
Play as you see fit. I don’t think there’s any really true one way to play a ranger.
I like my Kittah. And Kittah likes poptarts.
If you decide Kudzu as a legendary, probably Sylvari would be the way to go. Still I’m human, because, well, just didn’t see any other reason why not.
Think there’s Link the Cunning in Jade Quarry. Don’t know if he’s joking about it, but he puts it in his recruitment lines of a Ranger guild.
Started really really looking at different things that could give a ranger a buff. And the only thing I could come up with, well the pet could be buffed. But instead of increasing the damage of the pet, you increase the Attack speed of the pet.
During one patch rangers had, the speed of certain skills on our bows were increased. This would increase the chance of a hit against a moving target.
What the pet needs is increased attack speeds. We’ve all known that when pets maul something, they don’t do it one bite every couple of seconds, they’re chomping, raking claws, nearly every second. So increase the attack speed of the pet. The increased attack speed would pile on more damage. If the target moves, well the only other thing I could think of is also increase the speed of the pet to close the distance with a moving target.
A lot of times the target outmaneuvers, outpaces, or outdistances the pet. Increase the speed of the pets movement also.
So the pet could keep up with a target, harass the target more, and truelly make the target enemy have to deal with the situation that he’s not just fighting a ranger, but the PET also. The target would then have to really choose between hitting up the ranger, or dealing with a pet that’s a LOT more vicious than they thought originally.
