If you didnt have grind before you have now

As said, you will have to “acquire” the new skills in order to beat the new content.

Yeah, I know, better grinding new skills (and pls god make it only the new skills, because for what i have seen from the new system there’s a fair chance of having to grind the old ones again) than grinding bigger numbers for the old ones.

But at the end of the day its still a grind.

And yeah, PvE is just a big farming tool
If wanst that money prize in the end of each dungeon path, nobody would be running it.

And please speak for yourself. You don’t speak for “the vast majority of players”. I think just as many players are unhappy with the zerker meta and would like to see a change or a return to a more traditional trinity.

^this, I actually think if they got stuff a lil bit more like a traditional MMO, the game would lose like 15% to 25% of its players base, the wowclone haters. In the other hand the news that the game had been fixed would spread out so fast that the game would double the current number of customers even with some hipsters quitting.

It’s like, i dont want a gear grind, the new specialization stuff is way more interesting, but its still a grind, since you wont be able to beat the content without those skills, yeah, its still better than grind stats number.

Like a guy said, they tried too hard making things different and it ended up not working so well.

As the game says, every class should be able to fill any role, I’d like to see things like, for this part of the dungeon we need a little more tanky build or supportive build, so 1 or 2 guys switch the build up for that part in special then go back to DPS or whatever build they were using.

There’s a simple explanation for the current Meta…IT’s THE PLAYERS THAT CREATED THE CURRENT META. The players created it, the players can change it…within the existing systems ALL styles would be relevant, but people are to lazy and want to rush through everything in 5 minutes.

Ppl rush things because they dont play for the fun, but for the gold prize in the end.

The other fact is that ppl are being fooled by this no role thing, they dont want to be forced to run like a healer or tank build, because that would be wowclone, but they seem pretty fine being forced to run a DPS build, it’s not like they want to be able to run whatever build they want, its more about not being a wowclone.

Game feels solo oriented pre 80

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Khalisto.5780

Here is the thing, the game is pretty much like you feel now, or you solo lvl or you go to eotm spamming auto attack and lvling faster.

Ppl may say, you play the way you want, half truth, you do play the way you want, as long as you keep playing alone, for dungeon runs you will most likely be kicked if you show up with a tank or support build, anything than zerker will probably get you kicked.

The closest you will get to roles is on spvp, but dont expect to be near as efficient like you would be in a role oriented game, you wont tank up 2, 3 guys unless they are really bad or running a full support or tank build, you wont heal for huge amount as well, you can have big heals but they have a fair long cooldown, as i said you wont get a guy from 0 to 100% with your heal skills.

At lvl 80 you will start the fashion wars, you will mostly run the pve to get gold and buy the skins you want.

If you are somewhat ok with what the classic MMOs are about, you might be leaving the game very soon, or becoming a full time pvp/wvw player like i did.

btw pvp and wvw are really good.

Need legendaries to be legendary

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khalisto.5780

Khalisto.5780

No thanks.

IMO the flaw with the current Legendaries is that for the most part they don’t have their own lore or place in the world, and thus they don’t have their own Legend. Not that it’s not more powerful than Ascended weapons.

The only thing that I’d say that should be added to Legendary weapons is the ability to swap Sigils along with stats and a back story as to why they are Legendary.

^This
Legendaries have no legend behind them, what makes them way less legendary IMO. Plus they are not a reward for you progression and time put on the game content, but most of time a product of some crazy gold farming like champion trains and now SW farming, funny thing about this is that I see a lot of new players reaching lvl 80 then spend 5, 6 hours/day on this crazy farms craft their legendaries in 1 month and quit game.

About the sigil/rune swapping I think that should be an option to all armor and weapon, the current system is kinda kittened. <—-LMAO why i can’t say rettaarrdded?

The issue with GW2 now is it lacks progression, whether that be gear, dungeons, etc, cosmetics can only take you so far. Without some form of progression or player influence on the game, it will eventually lead to stagnation….

Here we agree to an extent. Currently, the only real horizontal progression is PvP/WvW rank, Fractal Level and ascended gear, which isn’t enough. However, that is why they are adding a multitude of specializations. Those will provide all the horizontal progression a person could want, without instituting the painful gear grind of WoW.

The expansion will be bringing a grinding factor, of course that grinding new skills and new ways to play is far better than grinding a numerical upgrade, but at the end of the day it’s still a grind as they said you wont be able to beat the new content without them. I honestly would like a 3 month grinding to get all those skills and finally beat the content, but I think Anet will keep things casual and this will be a 50 hours endeavor in the best scenario.

Control and support are useful. Its the reason why Zerker and DPS dominate the game. The problem is that toughness, vitality, healing power, and condi damage is useless in high-end play. You don’t need toughness or vitality to make control skills last longer. You don’t need healing power to make boons stronger.

I kinda agree with this, as most of the classes run all their AoE buffs in dungeon rushes, control may sometimes be useful but it’s nowhere near needed.

And this is where you are wrong. Plenty of other MMO’s simply place the loot in rooms all around the dungeon, thus encouraging other paths to be explored, and speed running to be discouraged. It’s that simple. Simply give players a reason to explore.

GW2’s main problem with dungeons, is that it is a long corridor where you go from A to B, encountering some bosses along the way, and a boss at the end. This does not encourage other roads to be explored, if there were other roads to speak of.

Many other MMO’s have already solved this issue. They feature none-linear dungeons where there are multiple objectives. See the example below.

This is one of the main problems with GW2 , the loot is so bad that doesn’t matter how much loot you spread through the dungeons, ppl run the dungeons solely for the gold reward in the end. And honestly I don’t see this changing with their “journey is the reward” policy.

No one would want to clear the most challenging path of any dungeon more than once or twice because the rewards do not scale and there is no incentive for doing so.

This is crazy on point, as I said before IMO PvE is just a gold farming tool for most of the players, and if the final reward isn’t good enough for the time you put on playing a content ppl just don’t play it, that’s why finding a party for CoF p1, 2 is much easier to find than one for p3, p3 has some tricky parts and if you mess up it can easily turn into a 30+ mins run, 30 mins for 1.5g, ppl just look at it and say no thanks. Like an year ago you were able to skip HotW p2 and the dungeon was largely played, once they patched it nobody else plays it.

With the crafting precursors this issue can be easily addressed, they just have to spread the collections needed throughout the dungeons, world bosses and other specific events, and then I think I will finally feel rewarded for my time spent on PvE content. And even tho I already can see ppl complaining that they are forced to play some kittenty content, rofl, I think I’ll be fine with that, unless collections droprate is like 00,1%.

We players already did our job/part for reporting problems.

They can’t answer or talk about them because ncsoft made them do an expansion. MO was all about LS.

That’s why there is so little actually out. I will be surprised if there is any more landmass thsn SW and dry top.

Masteries is just more grind bars.

Revenant does look like they put some time into.

All of the new system and probably traits are looking just like hoops and bars to grind out…

Oh well, at least something to grind out, one of the main PvE issues right now is the lack of rewarded content

If you watch carefully you’ll see that Colin is very excited talking about the features and things, while Joe just shakes his head in agreement and says “uhum” most of the times, theres only 1 or 2 topics he seem to find decent the whole interview. That’s kinda the way a feel too, I dont see how PvE can be “saved” with the current combat system. Let’s say they improve the AI decently, the game will change from the zerker stack to condi kiting around, will it be harder? Prolly. Will it be fun? I doubt. From what I can see PvE is a huge farming tool for like 70% of the players, and ppl just run dungeons because its a less braindead way to farm, less efficient tho, if the game gets harder, and a 6 mins CoF turn into a 15+ run, CoE goes from 12 min to a 25+ min run, I honestly dont see ppl playing this content anymore, it becomes too bad of a farm.

It doesn’t take a big long post to point out why Anet is terrible at managing the playerbase and it’s game. Wow has like 10 million gamers. FFXIV has 4 millon. How many does GW2 have? Oh, thats right…they won’t tell us. pffft… GW2 is no longer a game people spend money on. It is a game we play because we had a good feeling about their initial development cycle that will bring back nostalgia for years to come.

You are not allowed to talk this way about my game, it hurts my fanboy’s feelings. Game is perfect if you desagree with me you wrong, bring any known facts to the table and I will answer you with fanboyness and nonsense.

Currently my reasons for leaving the game are:

-The necromancer (my favorite class) is broken and neglected (Joe brought this up)
-Classes are completely unbalanced in PVE in general
-Control and support are undeveloped and neglected, in favor of DPS
-Stacking and zerker/DPS dominate the game (Glad Joe addressed this)
-Missing character development, very little depth in character builds
-Bad, over-simplified combat system, which also lacks depth
-The game has no actual dungeons, just long corridors where you don’t explore
-The game has no rewards, just merchant fodder. Nothing that you’d want to equip on your character, or would look forward to when you open a chest.
-The US/EU server split, means not being able to play with dozens of my GW1 friends.
-Defiant

^This

-Bad, over-simplified combat system, which also lacks depth
-The game has no rewards, just merchant fodder. Nothing that you’d want to equip on your character, or would look forward to when you open a chest.

These 2 are the main reason I pretty much quit PvE

PvE right now is just about stacking and spamming 12345, the utilities are most condi cleanse and area buffs, sometimes a reflect or a stealth skill comes to play.

Once you reach lvl 80 PvE becomes a huge gold farming game, and I feel ppl just run the dungeons because its a less boring type of farming.

Angry Joes does say he left the game about 2 years ago, if you think, what did he lose, you realise he “lost” just a few skins, most of them he can buy on tp or get from PvP reward tracks.

Getting casual into the game is really hard, i tried to bring many friends to the game, they just google and read the game reviews, it’s a lot easier finding one that says game is awful than one saying game is good, and then comes the fact you have to pay for the game, the answer i get is “I’m not paying for this kitten”.

Angrybirds has more of a chance to be Esport. This game will never be Esport.

^This, they can advertise it and promote in some cases in GW2 it’s better to watch then live. They should rather focus on the in game aspect of PvP give players who focus on other modes a reason to PvP this mode is dodged by many who only play the other two or use it as a training ground, some argue PvE is the main focus honestly I can’t really tell lol.

PvE is actually ruining any chance for this game to be an Esport, I dont think any other Esports have any modes if not the competitive one, they were kinda born Esport they were not something else that tried to become an Esport.

Here are the 2 main reasons i believe GW2 will never be an e-sport

You have to pay for the game. I think the most if not all most succesful e-spors are free to play.

PvE and PvP use the same mechanics. That means they cant get the better balance in any of those modes. Imagine if they balance the classes perfectly for one of those modes, the other mode would suffer from OP/useless classes.
