People are kind of stupid with this. They said the exact same thing when the nerfed ferocity before and a lot of people were thinking that it was about to allow other gear to be optimal. And didn’t and any nerf to zerker will NEVER remove it from the meta.
It’s the concept of zerker that make it the most optimal gear set. It’s meta because it’s a power glass canon gear. By fixing condition they can make optimal a condition glass canon gear (sinister), but that’s it. Glass canon, whatever nerf they want to do will always be the meta in PvE. If they really need to change that they have a limited amount of choice.
1) They need to put obligatory role. Defensive of healing gear will never be meta unless we need them to complete content, which mean getting back to Trinity or something similar to trinity. Which mean waiting for a cleric guy to complete your dungeon.
2) Removing the current active defense. We can play in full zerker because active defense is so powerful. If they remove it then we gonna need some defensive gear to survive. That just dumb down the game. Alternatively they can nerf to the ground active defense and make a stats that improve it. So now the new meta will be whatever offensive gear that have just enough of that stats. Not really an improvement.
3) Limiting gear to 2 offensive stats will force diversity into gear. There will still be one meta gear per profession, but that meta could change from one profession to another. A PS warrior would choose Power, Precision, Boon Duration, but a Engineer meta would be Power, Precision, Condition Duration. It would also limit the difference in dps from from exemple Power, Precision, Healing Power versus a Power, Precision, Boon Duration or Power, Precision, Toughness. As long as you take Power and Precision you have good dps, then even if the 3rd stats you take isn’t the meta the difference isn’t that noticeable. But that idea still have a lot of problem. That mean a mega nerf to dps or complete reworking of ferocity. That mean that the 3 years of balance for PvP is scrap and Anet need to start all over. And it doesn’t really fix anything since there will be only 1 meta gear per profession.The number 3 might be possible good option, but i’m fine with the current system. No need to ’’fix’’ something that isn’t broken. Every single gear set is viable, there is only 1 that can be optimal and it will always be like that. Whatever anet do.

Imagine if they add an armor stats that makes you spam 10k heals like a warrior spams hundred blades, or a stat that improve cc and you could stun mobs for 10 secs, that would be better than it’s now, but still won’t be needed and wont be optimum.
The other issue about changing meta is that ppl expect anet to do something like I mentioned above, but knowing anet it’s more likely they’ll make a new one stats only meta, then you’ll have all the same complaints all over again plus a huge disappointment, quite like they done to daily class wins on pvp dailies.
Another point is, is it worth changing anything? What I see is meta ppl running speedruns because they want the fast gold, there’s no fun involved, that’s why so many non zerkers are kicked, and even zerker ppl that dont know the run. Now if they change meta, and the run takes twice the time, and now is somewhat fun, but you can get the same amount of gold somewhere else, without relying on other ppl, what’s your motivation running the dungeons, yeah it’s fun, 1, 2, 3 times, then it starts getting less and less fun, since the loot is crap you dont have any reason to run those anymore.
Like the guy said, anet cant seem to manage developing challenging content without going back to trinity, I dont think trinity is that bad (but WoW haters do, rofl) i’d be ok with something like a light trinity, something like "for this boss or for this part of the dungeon it’d be nice having one guy more tanky or bigger heals (since all classes can fill any role, one guy switch up his armor and done, if you are amazingly skilled you just retrait and do it).

you pvping in wvw? Because spvp has fixed. If you want a faster way to lvl go to edge of the mists< press “b” select edge of the mists, if you are green there 9 hours of auto attack spam and you 80, if you’re another color it takes a little bit more, still way better the lvling on pve

game over, learn to use tp and mystic forge to get money to buy pretty stuff (this game is all about it), you dont even need to play the game anymore, unless you want the dungeons skins.

EotM and PvP prolly, go to pvp and get the first tome of each track, this should give 15 lvls or so in lesse than an hour and EotM, if you green, if you are another color i think pvp is still faster, 0 gold required here. I,m not sure but if you spend 150g on crafting you should get to 80 in 2 hours or so, and get bored of your new class again.

It’s a 10 hours game to get to the point where most of ppl are “lvl 80, zerker gear with proper sigils and runes”, if you like to rush stuff of course. Otherwise play as you want and in 2 weeks or so you should be in good shape to do most content.

This game lvling is boring as in 80% of others MMOs, but at least here you have options.
a) Bored to death – map completition and personal story
b) Fast and bored – EotM zerg auto attack spam fest
c) Poor and bored – 2 hours burning your money in mats to craft your kitten to lvl 80.
d) Bored train – Pretty much like option “b” but in PvE
e) Really frustrated but not bored – Throw your fate in the hands of GW2’s matchmaking gods and get hours and hours of complete one sided matches.

If you already bought the game play it and draw your own conclusions, if you don’t, wait for the next 75% off, they you might not get frustrated, it was just 10 bucks.
If you wanna a comparison hop on FFXIV forums (both games have about same number of active players), in my opinion the only successful release after gw2, you’ll see the forums dont have as near many complaints as you see in gw2’s, so forums are a good reflection of how the game goes.

I think that’s because t6 mats are a major part of a legendary crafting, which is supposed to be the hardest task in the game.
Personally i think it’s a smart move from anet keep those droprates low, because from what i’ve seen in the last 2 years, like 70% of ppl craft their legendaries, have the feeling they reached the end game and pop out of the it.

If i remember correctly, they disbanded their dungeon team awhile back. That says it all.
This…hurts. I know GW2 isnt meant to be your traditional MMO but to leave the dungeons so untouched for 3 years is absolutely horrible. When I think about getting into GW2 again, which I currently am thinking about, I think about how stagnant the dungeons are. I like dungeons. I dont like them to be the only thing I do at endgame…I can only stomach so much forced group content. But dungeons need to be there and arenanet fails miserably at boss mechanics and frequency with adding new dungeons.
Anyone suppose that if this is true that the cause is the exclusionary and abusive behavior of dungeon speed riders. Remember the game especially PvE is suppose to be co-op friendly and not someplace where abusiveness and rudeness is the norm.
Just maybe if those zerk only, speed runners who kick others over the smallest things were nicer, we would have gotten more dungeons.

Maybe the Living World and the Living Story didn’t work out the way ANet wanted. They seemed to have wanted a game world where every day was different and non repeated, like the real world. It didn’t work out for them, people didn’t want this. But you should give them credit for trying to do something different than the old standby of no content for 1-2 years and then an expansion, rinse and repeat like the other games.
So, there wasn’t an expansion for a long time because they were trying something else. They deserve consideration for that at least.
Yeah they tried new stuff, that’s good, but in my opinion they failed, as every new thing they brought seems to be falling apart.
The non trinity stuff, it’s more like non anything aside from dps, it may change from zerk to condition, but I dont think they will manage to make other armor stats useful.
The dynamic events seem to work well, the bad thing about it is how they scale, it’s sometimes hard with 1 or 2 ppl, as more ppl come by it becomes an auto attack spam fest.
The living stories were not specially good or bad, it’s just them telling us the story to get to the expansion, but i think ppl expected more, Anet included.
I dont remember the other new stuff they brought, but i think none of them are a great success.
I think their PvP balance is kinda good compared to ones i’ve seen in other MMOs. Unfortunately their matchmaking is a complete mess.
They made a game that is not p2w.
WvW is fun, but ultimately comes down to numbers.

Come on we waited 3 years for 1 expansion this is even higher than the World of Warcraft waiting times lol (its 2 years there) and the funny is that after this elder dragon there are 4 more that means at least 4 more expansions, so the players who are 40+ years old might not even make it till the last expansion if it continues so slow. Will Heart of Thorns be released this year at least?
And do you really care about this or just wanna point out the lack of significant content released since game’s launch?
What we got so far was bad luck, with all MMOs released after GW2 (aside from FFXIV) being a complete disaster (WildStar, ESO, Arch Age, etc). Hopefully the upcoming MMOs (Black Desert, Tree of Savior, Skyforge, etc) will be better, and most of us won’t be here.

You’re assuming an atomic bomb can do anything to a magical creature like Mordremoth. Hell, he’d likely use the energy from the bomb to grow stronger similarly to how he used to activated Lay Lines to awaken.
If you go there, there’s really no point arguing anything, let’s just assume the dragon can be killed just by players auto attacks or cannons on a flying ship

I play healer in good MMOs, in GW2 I like to play builds with lots of cc, thats pvp of course, PvE i just play the zerk meta.

The game isnt already in a good shape, if they implement 24h bans, ppl will leave the game for good, and then you’ll have even more unbalanced matches, longer queues and more 4v5s

Not sure, 80% of my matches are 500-200, winning or losing, but less ppl always means that matchmaking gotta pull someone thats much better/worst than you’d like. But you right, it’s hard to imagine even worst matches.

Thats dumb, the PvP community is already very small, imagine if you have 5 ppl of your rank in your block list, now imagine everyone has the same number, and the total amount of ppl that would give you a nice match balance is like 70, prolly the matchmaking would be forced to draw ppl of a lower/uper tier, the matches would be even more one sided that they already are, then you prolly adding more ppl to your block list and your queues get longer and longer. Overall pretty bad idea.

This might be what you looking for, medium armor, bucaneer chest, belinda great sword style, only ranger uses GS in the medium armored, i didnt check the normal swords for styles, but the bucaneer does pretty much all the job of samurai looking toon, not sure if this chest looks that good on humans and silvarys tho. Im not sure if this hair style is available for humans too.

I will answer this mixing up my thoughts and some funny stuff I’ve read in the forums.
So I’ve played since launch and lately I cant even log in because the game is so boring to me. I PvE, mostly dungeon or fotm and this zerker meta is literally killing the game. Just recently a old gw2 member named Nemesis uploaded a video on this subject and he hit alot of points that I’ve noticed and even more than I didn’t notice. (GJ nemesis!)
So this meta is all about DPS, Corner stacking, Glitching and exploiting.. Some evidence…
-The meta is DPS because its all Zerker gear (out of the 23 stat prefix’s, guess anet just wanted to make different stat gear for giggles)
First of all, meta is made by players, and it’s the most efficient way to clean up content, so if they “fix” the current meta, the new one will come, and we’ll have about the same amount of ppl complaining about the new meta.
Now let’s assume they change the meta by improving the mob’s AI like they said at some point when the expansion was announced, then the meta goes from zerker stacking to condi kiting around.
-Corner stacking doesn’t need evidence, everyone has done it but it’s common in MMO’s and isn’t a problem unless it’s mixed with the other 3 parts of the meta.
-Glitching is a serious problem but people do it and it’s literally accepted as part of the meta. A few examples are CM attacking people through walls, CM climbing wall by Frost in P1 to take 0 damage, CM P2 running the boss between 2 plateau’s to become completely stuck, etc. I only mentioned CM but there’s glitching in every dungeon, just youtube “gw2 Glitch (whatever dungeon)” and you’ll be met with video proof.
- Exploiting is just stupid and yet people still do it to Lupi with reflecting his attacks to down him in seconds. Obviously this isn’t challenging content for a boss in a dungeon yet now it’s accepted as ok? wtf man. There are more but I draw a fine line between glitching and exploiting so i’ll let you choose. "
Here is the thing the majority of ppl that runs the meta zerker stack/glitching/exploting every possible thing, don’t run the dungeons for fun, but for the gold prize at the end. So they see all these things as good things, and as those things get fixed they stop running those paths, like happened to HotW P2 after the wall skip was fixed.
So as nemesis states in his video “Gw2 abondonded the holy trinity to become…just dps?” It’s literally gotten to a point where people are stating that certain classes are sub par and should not be taken for optimal dps. How is this better? I for one think it’s literally ludicious and now with HoT coming I’m sending the Dev’s a message…" You have the opportunity to fix what has been left to grow into such a big problem. The ball’s in your court, Please stay true to your word to make this MMO the be all end all MMO"
They can’t design content to force ppl to have a healer or tank build required, because that would be wow clone, and god, zerker meta can have a lot of downsides, but Thank God, it’s not wow clone.

Honestly I think the “business model” the game was built upon is flawed, and the expansion will fix very little of it, it’s kinda sad when you look at the game and see what it could/supposed to be and what it is. And Anet got lucky when aside of FFXIV (that’s already bigger than GW2, even with the monthly fee) all other MMOs released were a complete failure, and the good ones can only be played with 350+ ping on eastern servers. I think GW2 played its part tho, bringing some new ideas that every new MMO seem to be copying and improving, but if the upcoming MMOs are somewhat decent, GW2 will soon be where Tera, Aion and others successful MMOs were before GW2 was released, are now.

Ranked being a nightmare is more like anets fault than players fault.
When I started pvping my first thought was “I’ll play ranked because game will put me with ppl with the same rank as me, and i’ll avoid higher rank trolls destroying me in unranked”
Because that’s the concept of ranked in any other competitive game, so the name is kinda missleading, they should fix the ranked aspect or change the name to “leaderboard climbing”

Maybe you could turn it the other way around. You say people grind because they don’t want to buy, or maybe some buy so they don’t have to play… grind the game. What might explain why they design a game to be grindy?
I started a reply earlier in the day about this subject but scrapped it but here it is.
I believe ANet’s reason behind RNG was to eliminate forcing activities onto players. No do X to get Y, as Y can drop from activity at any time. But that leads to the not getting anything desirable from drops most of the time which forces the player to the TP, whose fees and taxes help keep classical currency inflation under control, to sell the unwanted for coin to buy the wanted from other players who don’t want them.
The Gem Exchange was to provide a means to sell gold, indirectly, for cash while providing a means for players to buy some items from the cash shop, indirectly, with in-game coin. The exchange itself it just that, an exchange as it neither creates gems or coin. Coin is created as a reward from the game, gems are created from actual cash. The exchange rate is determined by the amount of gold and gems flowing in and out of the exchange as well as the amount remaining in the exchange. The exchange also acts as a coin sink which is why it has non-symmetrical exchange rates.
And what developed from those noble intention is a culture where some players feel the need to do an repetitive, undesired activity to, in the end, get what they want. The exchange was never meant for players be able to buy everything they want from the cash shop, indirectly, with their accumulated in-game coin. Nor did they expect players to not understand that very rare means just that. Just because a player bought the game doesn’t mean a modest amount of game play alone will deliver every item they want guaranteed.
And here we are. Oh my oh my this game is so grindy. It’s grindy because players aren’t willing to accept that an MMO is a marathon and not a sprint and trying to sprint a marathon is, well, dumb. Players can’t be so naive to think a one product company can run on no income and ANet designed the game’s cash shop to not require the use of cash by the majority of players.
You the player don’t want grind, accept Lady Luck as your savior. You the player want that cash shop item, plan to loosen your purse strings or learn to moderate your desires.
I kinda agree with your argument, but what Anet failed to do was developing fun content, it there were loads of fun content ppl would spend more of their times playing this content than grinding money, they would have less money and prolly spend more real money in the game, and the fact that the game is actually fun makes ppl more willing the spend money in the game.
But Anet seems to be fine with things the way they are, they been running this model for almost three years, so it must be working out for them, pretty well, i should say.

that is my point: gw2 is only game that tries to make you lose and adds all odds against you if your win rate is above 50%; no other games (at least the ones i played, LoL, wow and co.) does that… i do not understand, why they are eager to punish players for successfull gameplay so much
Dota 2 has similar MMR mechanics on that point, once you reach 45% or 55% winrate you start getting very easy/impossible games, you also get punished for winning streaks very hard.

spirit watch is the worst map, the map would be ok if wasnt the orb thing. I just refuse to play this map, everytime i get this map i jump to my pew pew ranger and make the whole thing my personal death -match minigame

I like courtyard, no buffs, its more about your composition and individual skill, and the kitten zerk builds are fun to watch there, they just die everywhere, best map 10/10

Their matchmaking is complete joke, last 2 dailies i won with 500-70 playing as engineer, a class that i only play for dailies, that means i was prolly playing against ppl with 100 matches or less, yeah, easy daily and stuff, but no fun at all. The most balanced matches i been getting are like 500-200 winning or losing, matches that a team is like 150 pts ahead 3 mins in the game, feels like you playing an impossible match or playing against sparring targets.

LOL. Those people don’t pursue targets off point for the kill for +5 points, they do it for the kill only. They don’t think about the score. Most of them either assume another ally stayed behind the capture the point, that it’s their job to chase down runners, or just don’t think at all, without having awareness of their immediate surroundings or giving thought to their team’s composition and how that might affect the role they should fulfill. Just like some players sit on a single point for the entire match thinking that is all there is to it. Just like some players fight to the death or wait to respond to what the other team does instead of predicting and rotating. It has nothing to do with points awarded, it’s difference in player skill, knowledge and experience.
To summarize: tweaking the points awarded will change nothing at that level.

Ele was unkillable not because it’s good, but because:
1) poison was bugged (yes, it was bugged—you heard it right),
2) 15s 1550 range RTL used for running away.
3) Immob was not stacking, so uunorganized people don’t know how to chain Immob to stop the ele from running away
4) the meta was all about burst (Mesmer/thief/100b warriors) so they don’t have a lot CC to stop the ele from running away
5) if they failed a burst, the ele could freely run away and heal to full, then come back. That annoyed a lot of people, so they complained on the forums, and ele was nerfed to the ground, until Celestial shows up in PvP.
6) ele glory day was a bunch of videos from daphoenix showing people how to play d/d ele by… running away in wvw. He successfully trolled a lot of people though. Google it. It used to be sticky in the ele forums too.
Sounds fun, but fromwhat ive been reading in the forums, ele is getting burned with the new trait system and cele amulet is getting nerfed as well, so Im already looking up for a new class to play

If you read the MMR thread you will see that if your MMR improves you are teamed with worst ppl to play against the same ppl, instead of be teamed up with better ppl to play against better ppl O.o

I play ele, even if i think engi is a better roamer right now, ele fits my play style better. If ele gets bad as ppl are saying, I will just jump to the best roaming meta spec.
