You know if you are going to run around as a solo build, it might be worthwhile to take druid for the 33% increase in speed and drop the beastmaster spec line. This will give you survival (which has been hinted at being needed) and also allow you not to have to do the whole set up for WHAO which can be tiring after a while. With this change you can replace warhorn for axe which allows you to do more damage and gives you access to a projectile reflect.
I think the extra damage and stats from the pet is more handy. Also considering lots of mordrem have movement impairing skill loosing every bit of movement increase when you need it most will hurt you more. I would think the warhorn is more for the might
fair enough, I mostly just hate stacking WHAO reason I suggested.
My biggest issue with the sword is that when I am solo/duoing Arah it will randomly leap me really far out into places that might potentially pull adds. NOT GOOD. Outside of that I think dodging should override it.

Why staff? Why Healing Spring? How is this build going to handle condi pressure? Why Strength of the Pack? Why Electric Wyvern and Smokescale? Why Refined Toxins?
Please don’t troll my thread. It’s for constructively discussing the trapper druid and all of its variations. I just got the ball rolling with my build and I don’t feel like justifying everything about it. I’m asking people to share theirs.
But I will say that the answer to most of your questions is “because stealth” and “because poison stacking.” The rest you can answer on your own by looking up the different rangery things on the build site. Hope that helps.
Not trolling your thread, these are very valid questions your build does not address. You can be constructive and actually answer legitimate questions about glaring holes in your build.
Please don’t be a troll.

Druid will probably wind up being the best burst healing after balance changes while Ventari will be the best sustained healer.
Guardian/Ele will most likely just be good secondary healing sources as they already are.
The staff still looks awesome and will fit my sylvari ranger, which is hard to find weapons I think would fit her.
The issue with going shouts in pvp is that they really don’t do anything for you, or when they do they can cripple you in other ways. Examples:
Protect Me!: Can end with your pet being killed and now you have a long time on pet swap.
Sick ’Em!: The bonus will go away if you use a shout or tell your pet to do anything, basically blocking you from your pet for 10 seconds or waste the skill.
Guard!: Takes up a spot in your utility slot
Search and Rescue!: Why ever take this in pvp.
You are also left with determining what staple defensive skills you are willing to lose. If you drop survival you lose a lot of condi skills and ability to get out of being ensared. If you drop signets you lose out on the best turn off damage skill we have.
In general shouts just don’t do enough and against majority of meta builds you will end up being a free kill if the player is competent.
Wish I was still this ignorant about rangers.
Engineers get a new targeting system that isn’t all that vital to their class, yet rangers can’t get fixes to their pets which is vital to their class….
So obvious ArenaNet does not care about the Ranger Community.
This was the pet project of a developer on his own time. A little unfair to infer anet does not care about rangers from that
Just the 3 years we have had broken pets, and silent devs. You know they promised to communicate more with the community 2 weeks go about core ranger issues, yet nothing from them since.
You do realize rangers can switch targets in the middle of RF with this change yes?
You do realize in most instances that isn’t going to matter at all. Is it nice? Yes for open world easy stuff to kill. Dungeons/Fractals/PvP really won’t.
Why staff? Why Healing Spring? How is this build going to handle condi pressure? Why Strength of the Pack? Why Electric Wyvern and Smokescale? Why Refined Toxins?

Then go complain about pet AI, you are making comparisons that aren’t even there.
No, I am making comparisons about the fact that they have said they won’t work on AI because they don’t have the time to do it, yet they are working on stuff like this.
My Ranger is going to be using the ever loving crap out of this feature.
Feature isn’t bad, but doesn’t excuse ArenaNet from failing to support one of their classes for 3 years.
Interesting, I don’t play ranger. Why do people want it? spotter and frost spirit, CC bot?
Or preparing druid for hard encounter? is druid better than the base ranger?
Ranger’s support is inferior to other support, though they can be good dps, but they are not meta material.

How did it handle against a real team comp that carries condi removal? Given how bad that team did I doubt if any of them really brought much if any condi removal.
For Fractals
1 Mesmer or Guardian for reflects
1 Ele for CC and Might
1 Rev or Warrior for Might and other boons
2 Condi Engie for dps
So HoT is coming in 7 days! I am really excited so lets get a thread listing what we are most hyped about and what we are annoyed with!
Hype:
More Story!
More Zones!
Raids!
Mastery System!
New WvW map!
Hate:
No Core Ranger Fixes
No new dungeons/fractals
Limited new pvp and pve maps
To be fair it’s been a constant request since the first time the skills were revealed. We’ve been beating that drum close to half a year now. Not so long compared to Rangers, but maybe it will nudge the baseline enough all trap-setting classes can benefit.
Thats cute, 6 months. We have been asking for fixing for 3 years.
I highlighted where I already acknowledged that in case you skimmed over what I wrote. And I’ll point out that ALL the new specs are getting the kind of attention that would help ALL the existing professions. Sorry the big kids aren’t getting a cake with their names written in frosting on it too, but we work with what we’ve got.
The real issue isn’t what happens launch day, which is by design a media spectacle focused on the new professions… It’s whether or not the Devs vanish back into their Fortress of Silence after proving they can mange to talk to us every few weeks and make some real progress on troublesome elements of the professions.
Don’t disagree with anything you’ve said. I am bitter about the attention the devs have given the Ranger Community and they will disappear back into silence once HoT has released and elites become normalized. History says they will.
(1): +25 Healing Power
(2): When using a heal skill, grant fury to allies for 8 seconds. (cooldown 10 sec)
(3): +50 Healing Power
(4): 25% chance whens truck in combat to entangle the attacker. (cooldown 30 sec)
(5): +100 Healing Power
(6): Increase Ferocity by 15% of your Healing Power
too bad avatar and staff don’t have any access to condis. I’m not convinced condi druids will work at all.
what have we got?
traps – where is the invuln and stun breaker?
a/d – limited by reflects and blocks, no aoe
torch – our best condi weaponam I missing something?
I wish they would make Poison Master a thing.
Look at the trait lines you have to drop to make condi druid work. Its such a huge drop in dps that power really becomes the only option since losing BM isn’t as big a loss in dps, and in most instances could be made up with Glyph of Empowerment
No reason to not add it.
That’s my feeling also.
So what’s the weakest Ranger trap?
DH gets it after 3 BWE lmao.

Mai Trin isn’t that hard to solo.
Only if you’re a Guardian (even though most of her and Horrik projectiles are unblockable) or Warrior.
Bearbow Ranger, sooooo easy. The one time Bearbow is good.
I am thinking clerics to start, but might switch to zealots for healing spec
for dps I am going zerker most likely
A few suggestions if you are using this build for roaming:
Switch Allies’ Aid to Instinctive Reaction – since you are roaming this won’t be all that important.
Switch Natural Healing for Wilting Strike – your pet dying happens rarely while roaming, and weakness is a very good condi to apply.
If you are looking for condition damage you should drop Signet of the Wild and Strength of the Pack for Lightning Reflexes and Entangle. This means you should drop Empathic Bond for Wilderness Knowledge. This will give you accesses to a good CC and a great survival tool.
You should have regen on you at all times between “We heal as one!” and “Sick ’Em!” as such I would drop “Guard!” for “Protect Me!” so you have a strong counter to the huge burst that Mesmers and Thieves can put on you.
Finally you should switch “Sick ’Em!” and “Guard!” out for one another depending on who you are facing, leaving “Sick ’Em!” as the default.
Final switch out one of the birds for a wolf – Wolf gives you access to 2 CCs: Knockdown and Fear.
Mai Trin isn’t that hard to solo.
don’t be lazy…………………..
While I don’t mind, this isn’t about laziness, some people just don’t enjoy PvE. Why should these people be forced to do content they don’t like for a core thing like class spec lines?
I think that’s unfair. ANet’s team is small (and that is an excuse, if you ever worked on a small team reaching for excellence) and we can clearly see they were focusing all their resources at the expansion. Maybe new fractals will be added using the expansion’s mechanics (like mastery). But they can’t drop one huge package altogether. New zone, new class, new mechanics, new items and, yes, new raids. Just give them some time.
Just so you know, there aren’t new maps for WvW and just one map for PvP. Like I said, a clear focus on the expansion.
Per Colin they have over 250 devs at ArenaNet, plus they have the QA teams of NCsoft to support them. They aren’t small. That is large developer.
Well I do like this suggestion though maybe make instead of converted into precision into ferocity.
Thanks
. I felt that Precision was a more flexible choice that would serve hybrid and even some condition-damage builds (Ranger has some proc-on-crit condition traits) while still being desirable for direct power-based damage.
While I agree it does give flexible, but for taking druid you already give up to much to make condi worthwhile (no matter what tree you drop, you are losing a large percentage of dps, Honed Axes – Ambidexterity – Quick Draw) Ferocity would make the choice of going power with druid not as much as a dps loss and give better synergy between druid and core ranger. Beastmaster can lift right out of the Power Ranger and you can put Druid in its place with minimal dps loss.
What? Removing Beastmaster is a massive DPS loss on any build and it won’t be regained by adding a bit of ferocity to a braindead heal spam spec.
Compared to the loss of every other spec between condi and power it is the one that lifts out the easist, and the dps loss is minimal. The Zephyr’s Speed + Loud Whistle is the most unreliable combo that power ranger runs. Resounding Timbre and Natural Healing deal with survival which you are making up with druid, and Pet’s Prowess + Pack Alphas adds dps but not nearly as much as any other trait tree.

Making the rune up or has it been confirmed? if so link!
Sorry, just suggesting one. There has been some vague mention of there being new Rune-sets coming out with HoT, likely inspired by the 10 new professions. Just offering my take
.
I’ve been designing them for each of the Especs I feel reasonably familiar with. Trying to take existing effects or close iterations and combining them into a tuned package.
Well I do like this suggestion though maybe make instead of converted into precision into ferocity.
I like this idea Heimskarl, though don’t expect anything to get done on core ranger for a long time. They will be focused on elite specs now.
I ran something similar like this before, while its fun to see the large melee numbers, because it can deal those pretty good, it lacks so much over survival skills that against most competent players you will be easily dealt with due to lacking staple survival skills like lightning reflexes or signet of stone since project me is often lackluster at best.
With that said, it can still be a pretty fun build to run with.
The build has a ton of survival, Empathic Bond/Shouts removing Condi, 3K Armor, tons of evades. I would think the 2nd songs clips made that clear that its NOT just big burst but good sustain as well. I understand the SoS vs PM arguement. I just found PM fits what “I” am doing better is all. I think they both have their merits =D
Issue is that removing 1 condi per shout + 3 condi every 10 seconds (which you don’t control and can be really bad in certain situations) is much more limited than survivals 2 per when survival also gives you access to better control methods that you can further prevent condi from even getting on you in the first place. Toughness is nice against builds that rely on sustain, but the best classes atm all rely for the most part on burst dps, where toughness isn’t as good.
I think this build might really shine with druid though, I will be taking another look at this build on the 23rd, its a good base. Not saying its bad, it just seems to be lacking good enough sustain for staying in melee, which druid should fix it.
Mind you a lot of what I stated is a subjective thing.
…May the stars guide you!…
SUPERIOR RUNES OF THE DRUID
(1) +25 Healing Power
(2) Gain up to 400 Toughness while reviving an ally, based on your level.
(3) +50 Healing Power
(4) After using a healing skill you gain resistance for 3 seconds. (Cooldown: 10 seconds)
(5) +100 Healing Power
(6) 7% of Healing Power is converted to Precision.

If you want to be meta for 5 man content don’t roll ranger, ranger right now has no place in the “perfect” meta and it won’t with druid. Healing is useless for current 5 man content (this might change with fractals post 50).
For PvE Raids druid will most likely be meta, though ventari will make a case since they can do more dps while healing. Though each offer different forms of healing one is burst other is sustain. One is easier to heal on the move other is clunky while moving.
For WvW Zerg druids will see a lot of use as it is a great burst healer.
For sPvP & Roaming really need to see how the meta settles down, expect a lot of CC though and with limited access to stab and stun breaks this might be what makes this only an average tier class.

Anyone else bothered by the fact they still haven’t added solo queues, yet they keep doing this sort of stuff?
Maybe the numbers indicate that premade are not as big of a problem, as the small sample size on the forums seem to indicate?
Maybe you are right, but there is no reason to assume so YET. Not to say I wouldn’t mind a soloQ either but I doubt they will do it.
It just bugs me that ArenaNet wants a competitive scene but doesn’t built any mechanics around fostering said scene.
“Collections for the existing legendary weapons will be available on launch day, while the first three new legendaries will become available shortly after launch, alongside raids.”
That was taken from the blog about the legendaries. I was already disgusted that they made it out like they were time-gating content for us when really it’s because they couldn’t finish making the content for their given deadline but if I’m reading this correctly, none of the new legendaries or raids will be ready for launch?
We really just don’t know what they want to do with them, they might be releasing them in some sort of story arc where it makes sense. We don’t know the plans ArenaNet has for this to call it unfinished. It could be part of season 3.
Honestly outside of the mechanical change don’t expect any new fractals. It has been 2 years with nothing new fractal wise, content wise they are dead no reason to believe there will be any more new fractals. This is evident by the fact that a new EXPANSION does not contain any new content for it. Don’t get your hopes up, otherwise they will get crushed. If we get a surprise then it will be all happy times.
Hi everyone,
This topic come from an awfull experience I just got and of course, it’s not my hobby to take screenshot everytime I go in fractal…
There are already topics on this subject but none of them answered correctly this important point :
Was a report already successfull? I mean, I am not interested if you already recieved a confirmation message from gw2 staff that a punishment (ban for exemple) has been done. I want to know if you have evidence about banned account for THIS reason (even if it yours of course)…
I want to know if gw2 staff are really doing something against these game experience breakers or they don’t care because it’s not cheating or hacking !Thx
Sadly nothing will be done about this. There is a group of people who do this with Arah sellers and they are still around nothing has been done about them and I’ve reported along with many others.
Anyone else bothered by the fact they still haven’t added solo queues, yet they keep doing this sort of stuff?
What is going to happen with things in the guild build queue when the expansion hits?
Well at least there’s Reaper…
I’m good, thanks. druid received a lot of buffs with more to come. actually, every single change was recommended by multiple posters in the feedback thread. everything was basically as expected, except druid’s GM’s got insanely buffed. enjoy the reaper!
Anyhow, this conversation is kind of moot now. Some of Irenios shared information improves Druid builds by leaps and bounds, to the point that evaluation will start for me at square 1 again. Will discuss there.
. true. wont celestial stats be great now?
(i don’t think cele ele has any good “on-demand” spike heals. I’m pretty sure we can heal someone to full in seconds with the newest numbers. rejuv glyph + LI is basically a near instant 10k heal…then we can blast finish our sublime conversion thrice)
issue is going cele is we will be giving up a lot of dps, we lack burst dps as is, going cele will make it even worse BUT potential to gain a lot of survival which might be nice, but we won’t be on the same level as cele ele.
^that’s what I’m saying, decrease LI to like 2.5s base. MoC is too important for us.
If they do that, they should also reduce the cast time to 1/4s so that it can be used as an on-demand interrupt as well.
its going down to 2s with no other changes atm.
Source?
Also, that would be rubbish, then.

Glyph of Unity – this doesn’t fix this pointless elite. It literally only does about 2k~3k damage unless you are being attacked by a lot of people at once in which case you are dead already. 600 leash VERY short. Get rid of this skill and redesign it.
Ancestral Grace – good change
Celestial Avatar Form – Why are we being hurt with this? Seriously? I don’t mind the charge changes the CD is just plan bad. Why do we retain half when necros retain full? Seriously Why do you hate rangers?
Celestial Avatar Form – 15~25% might not be bad, depending on what skills got hit with 25 and which ones with 15.
Lunar Impact – Saw this coming
Why don’t we have better access to stab? You nerf CA but don’t give us access to stab…
Your constructive feedback has been really awesome so far and I trust will continue to be. I understand your concerns with not enough being communicated and I’m looking into getting more information out on some of the more solid changes we have.
Thank you
There’ve been some changes to Druid staff, glyphs, traits and Celestial avatar skills.
One change I can mention is that Ancestral Grace will now end as soon as you reach your destination rather than having to wait out the animation. We weren’t able to do this before with point-based movement, but an awesome programmer threw together a way for us to script it in.
As Belzebu calls out: You’ll have to check out the rest of the changes on the 23rd!
Glad this change is making it in, but why are we one of the only classes that has to wait until the 23rd to know what is being balanced? I know daredevil knew the changes within the week.
Anyone who thinks ArenaNet is going to really support fractals with new content at this point are pretty delusional. ArenaNet won’t support them.
Projectile reflection does nothing in raid, and raid is everything that matters in pve.
It’s not just Ventari, but every healer in the game. What they said it’s “burst heal” through celestial avatar, is in fact a sustained burst heal since you can stay in celestial avatar 87% of the time and blindly spam heals on the group without any care.
Short cds, no locks, no energy involved. Just spam heals like no tomorrow.
Druid will make any other healing spec useless.
It should be nerfed and other specs buffed. Not flat, but based on healing power. Healing power must be useful.I’d like Ventari and druid to suck at 0 healing power and do as good as druid does now at 1500 healing power.
So you want the druid to be totally useless along with the rest of the uselessness of core ranger? You must be glad the devs think core ranger isn’t allowed to be useful also.
