Huge lack of armor in-game, cash shop rampant

I’m not sure that 4 sets of armor in a year (one of which I believe was here from launch) is particularly overkill.

Compare that to the amount of new armors you can get through playing that have been added. The problem I see here is that we get cash shop items INSTEAD of actual game or incentives to play.
I don’t need skins myself to keep playing, fresh and challenging content is what I want, but you can’t deny having some of these skins only available through actual game feats would give us some new goals to work toward.
It would be great if each update gave us a new goal, something that isn’t farming more money to buy skins or unlocking all the achievements (which are trying to make us believe there’s new content when there isn’t much).

No, just no.

I have a full time day job and only play this game for around 10+ hours a week, and I’m thankful that I can use a small portion of my salary to substitute for wasting hours in a game.

I’m sorry but why exactly do you play the game then?
I mean, did you buy the game to play it or just to spend your money?

Oh I get it, “wasting hours”, I call that playing the game but whatever.
The problem is that you assume working toward getting the gear would automatically be wasting your time when it’s just part of the game and it actually gives you a goal.

As for myself, I completely agree with the OP, I’d like to actually have something to do in the game before I decide to spend more of my money in it, I mean, opening the gem shop tab and entering my credit card number isn’t that much of a game.

tl;dr
Gem shop stuff is fine, having new stuff there every two weeks keeps the game rolling BUT we need more incentives to keep playing the game and eventually spend some money.

I like it. It can potentially add some more complexity to combat.

I’d say it’s just a way to sell more gem store finishers, expect more of these “Finish Him!” in PVE.
On the bright side, it’s finally something you can bring from PVP to show off in PVE.

Why everybody wants to jump on top of the tower? I don’t get the point of jumping puzzles. It’s the same thing and gets boring very fast.

I don’t care what it is, my point is, we have this huge-kitten tower in the middle of Kessex Hills and we’re just running around 4 points on the map, like if it wasn’t even there.
I hope this won’t be like the Flame and Frost fiasco, doing pointless events we’ve already seen hundreds of times and wait weeks/months to actually get something interesting to play before it disappears later.

Two weeks feel very long when you have nothing to do, it’s more than enough for people to quit out of boredom.

I’m very disappointed as well, there’s literally nothing to do in this update.
Achievements can’t be the selling point in an update, they’re just bonus things to do, instead we should be working toward new skins and stuff.

What do we have right now? There’s this tower, it’s kittening huge and very impressive, why don’t we get to climb it? I mean, we could climb all the other krait structures so far so why are we mindlessly zerging around the main thing of this update?

I understand you have to add some new gem shop skins with every patch to keep the game running but why don’t you give us some recolors or particle-less versions of these skins to actually earn through playing your new update?

Gem store items are not content, they aren’t GAME content, there’s no game involved when you just have to open your wallet or grind the same boring dungeons we’ve been grinding for more than a year now, THIS ISN’T GAME CONTENT.

I REALLY hope we get something more out of this than just zerging around the tower, and I’m not talking about rewards, but actual game content.

I keep being targeted by ranged mobs

Krag.6210

from my experience, engaging first and doing most damage – especially aoe’s against group mobs – makes you #1 target, often to the point that mobs ignore other party members that are reviving someone

if its becoming a problem you can always disengage and cease attacks for a while, so that your party members can accumulate enough aggro to draw mobs away from you

also if you cannot handle whole mob groups aggro, you probably shouldn’t be the first one to burst them with aoe, even more so, if no one else in your group use aoe attacks

cannot confirm this, but i believe providing boons to allies while in mob range, also generates some aggro

I’m not even sure this game has that kind of aggro building system and distance between players and the mob only seems to affect some melee mobs. I can easily break from melee range against Kholer or the thief boss in CM but as soon as I go back to stack I get hit by their single target auto attacks again.

I’d really like to understand how the aggro works in this game, I’ve been playing for more than 3000 hours now and it’s still a mystery to me.
Ever since I started playing my engineer, geared in berserker gear like my other two characters, I keep being the first target of absolutely every ranged mob in dungeons.

For example, CM, the riflemen keep shooting me first EVEN when someone runs in first and aggro them, I was in range but didn’t even engage them.
The golem boss in CoE, the instant I’m the room, he stops attacking the npc and turns toward me for the rest of the fight.
I just did SE story to help some guildmates and guess what, Kudu, and his golems kept auto attacking me and me alone between their usual attacks, even the next golem boss was on me the whole time.

Fractals seem to be unaffected by this.

I could add a lot more examples but you got my point, the thing is that now I’m taking high risks if I don’t slot my toolkit or don’t go p/s and Elixir U for the reflects.
I’m supposed to be stacking might and dealing damage but right now I spend most of the fight blasting my waterfields and dodging around just to stay alive.

I’m not whining but i’d really like to understand, I’m cool with taking damage but this is way too much for just one guy to handle. People used to say mob prefer targets with high toughness/vitality/whatever and I can tell you it’s completely wrong.

I suggest you to rebind A and D to “strafe left” and “strafe right” then get used to moving your character around with the camera by holding right click.
You played fps games right? so it’s exactly like a FPS except you have to hold right click to turn your view/character around.
You do use A and D to strafe in your fps games right?

If you want to level up with a condition build, you should start with something like this
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQJAqOlIq6dJxi6lEZUhODUh8Ski8T/+8gteQIE-jwBBYhBkkGkEBITqIasVhFRjVdDTHjIqGA-e

Use your grenades mainly, then your pistols when cooldowns are up, the other slot is up to you, I’d pick bomb myself and start getting some experience with engi combos.

When you reach 40, add 10 more point in the explosive traitline and pick Short Fuse to spam your grenade 2 more often, then 10 points in the Alchemy line for vigor on swiftness and finally 10 more points in explosives for Grenadier.

Bombs and FT are power kits, so use berserker gear, mix with some more defensive gear if you feel the need.

To stack stealth, do blast finishers in your smoke bomb aoe.
For example, take healing turret bomb and thumper turret and pistol/shield

Drop you healing and thumpet turrets.
Big ol bomb
Smoke bomb
overcharge thumper turret
detonate both healing and thumper turrets
thumper turret toolbelt skill
magnetic shield, detonate it

It looks like a lot of things but it’s all just muscle memory at some point, you can do the same in your Fire bomb aoe to stack might on your allies.

Rampager : Probably a tiny bit more damage in the long run if mobs and bosses last longer but you’re useless on structures
Rampager with Berserker trinkets : Best dps with a grenadier, but still not as good as zerker on very short fights or structures.

So zerker seems to be the most balanced of the 3

Good job.

You don’t need the infinite coin anyway as each zone takes around 50 to 100 lives to complete, you can speedrun the world 1 for 7 baubbles bubbles (=35 continue coins) plus 6 continue coins each day.

You can even use a guide to finish it in like 30 lives I’d say but then ask yourself “what the point?”

I really liked world 2 but like some other people, I thought it was too long and the difficulty gap from world 1 to world 2 was too high.

The worst part in my opinion was 2-2, way too many ninjas and the melee ones are awful to fight or dodge, the arrow deathtraps were a nice touch at the beginning but quickly became a pain in the kitten. The gong part was a great idea with bad execution, it’s almost impossible to see the traps with the camera going everywhere while following the gong so we just waited until it reached the bottom.

My favorite part was 2-3 because we were back to good ol’ jumping and enemies were alright.

The jumping is great, the fighting is awful, it’s really hard to tell when to dodge against most of the foes.

Tribulation mode is really awesome, I thought it was just cheap iwbtg style traps at first but the jumps and paths were actually pretty cool.

It’s a kittening pain playing some classes like engineer where you swap from targeted attacks to non-targeted attacks constantly, I NEVER get the target I want using tab even though I make it clear which one it should target.

Having some skills use auto targeting and others not is simply the best thing to do and I’ve been suggesting this since forever.

Touhou style boss aoe

I wish we had less “MMORPG style” bosses and more “offline game” style bosses. The Frog King at the end of Super Adventure Box was sort of a hint at that. You have to watch certain tells, avoid big AoE things, and exploit a weak point at the right time.

This!
Right now it feels like the bosses were made with the trinity in mind then they added the dodge system and removed the trinity afterward without reworking the bosses.
Make them more like beat them all bosses, gimmicky and with a big emphasis on dodging.

Guild Bounties Now Punish Smaller Guilds

My only other complaint is the fact that I need 70k more influence to get guild treks at this point. Our guild isn’t super large, we’re active, but it still seems like a crazy amount after we spent so much on just bounties. We’d like to be able to progress at a reasonable rate. It would be nice if there were other “training” missions similar to bounties that may reward less influence but still gave us something to do and make it feel more varied. I can see doing just bounties will eventually bore us.

This, I’d rather pay 30 influence at Economy rank 5 to unlock tiers 1 and 2 then rank 6 to unlock tier 3 that we don’t need since we’re a small guild.

My small guild can complete Tier 2 bounties with 10-12 players, Tier 1 is doable with 5 players.

Now I’d agree with the previous posts on the randomness of guild bounties, some are very easy to find and fight while others are terrible. I’m thinking about Sotzz, Tricksy-Trekksa or Half-Baked Komali. Needless to say we failed a few times.
