List of too EASY Dungeon paths/bugged. Need fix.

Only thing I will disagree with you on is CoF path one final boss. Before it was impossible if you didn’t have a group of fully exoticed balls to the wall DPS traited characters. I do agree that its much to easy now. There needs to be a middle ground.

I completely 100% agree with you on HotW. I hate doing that dungeon. Its to easy and to boring. Half the amount of HP of the bosses but give them some real mechanics instead of 2 abilities and 64215937 million HP.

Charr Enjoyment, why?

Kravick.4906

I was playing through my story and I had to get these guys to look for artifacts or something as this one Charr kept saying he was “afraid of ghost cows”. Now since these guys were shady enough already I thought he was setting me up for a ambush, but not to long after, Ghost cows attacked.

I LOVED that part! I couldn’t stop laughing. “All the terrible mooing!” I was floored from laughing so hard when my character offered to buy him a steak dinner at the local tavern.

I chose Charr because I always play the non human races in any game I play. I don’t want to play as a boring human. I can’t even stand to play the traditional non human races that are just humans but with a different skin color or pointed ears. I’m already human IRL. I don’t want to be one in a video game too. I see RPGs as assuming a role that is not typical of real life. I play whatever gets me furthest away from that aspect as possible.

I especially like the Charr because they’re not just your typical anthropomorphic race with an animal head stuck on a human body. They’re actually unique and look nothing like humans in any way. I’m also a huge fan of cats so thats +2.

A thought on CoF, Magg, and the "kiting" part

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Kravick.4906

Kravick.4906

i am pretty sure they spawn faster than in video -.-

Yeah I was about to say this very same thing. I do a combination of the kill and kite methods every time I do this dungeon. Smokelord is the one who does the most damage of all the mobs that spawn, so I convince everyone to kill that guy ASAP. If we can kill that mob, kiting becomes a cake walk. If there is time, we’ll kill the other two. The vast majority of my runs the group doesn’t have the DPS to kill anything except the Smokelord before we start getting overwhelmed and have to start kiting. The best I’ve ever done is kill the first 3 adds before getting overwhelmed and need to kite.

Cool video. It shows 4 of the 5 members geared in CoF gear. It only proves my point that people in full yellow(rares) can’t beat the dungeon the intended way. Which is dumb considering the dungeon should be tuned for that gear level. Not for people already in exotics.

I saw the same thing. Every single person in those two videos are using exotic weapons and mostly exotic armor that I can tell. Can’t say what they’re using for jewels, but its safe to bet that they probably have mostly exotic jewels if they’re killing the mobs that fast.

You can beat that encounter in masterwork gear.

This is a serious discussion. Stop trolling.

Are engineers "agro-grabers"?

Funny, because on my warrior this is what happens to me every single time I run an instance. I’ve only done AC storymode so far on my engineer, but I didn’t really seem to have aggro any more than the rest of the group. In fact the bosses all ignored me and I was free to rain grenadey doom on them unhindered.

Charr Sexuality/Customs

Then again, it’s also entirely possible that in the 250 years since EotN, more and more Charr have become exposed to alternate methods of companionship and child-rearing and some might choose to abandon the fahrar-system altogether, particularly gladiums who leave/renounce Charr society as a whole and go to live among other races.

Funny that you mention this, because there is a Charr couple in Lion’s Arch that have this discussion. Dad wants to train their cub at home, but mom is worried that without warband mates and the bonds that are forged from them, that the quality of training won’t be as good as typical fahrar training. Ultimately they decide to try and start a fahrar of their own and invite children from the other races to join since there are so few charr cubs of the same age as theirs in Lion’s Arch. Or something to that effect. Its been a while since I’ve heard that conversation and I may have gotten some of the details wrong.

I also love how Anet isn’t freaking out and deleting this thread because of its topic. I really like seeing open discussions like this on this topic where everyone is allowed to discuss it in a mature manner. I never understood, especially in RL, why there are people that freak out whenever topics like this come up.

Which Order did you pick?

in Engineer

Posted by: Kravick.4906

Kravick.4906

I held off doing this part of my personal story simply because I can’t decide which one to pick on my engineer. I know that ultimately in the end it doesn’t matter, but from a class perspective, certain classes just seem to “fit in” better. Warriors going into the Priory seems silly while elementalists joining the Vigil aren’t what I would expect. And of course the thief just fits with the OoW.

I can see how engineers would fit in with any of the orders though. I haven’t actually taken a character through the OoW yet so I don’t actually know what that part of the storyline is like. I hear good things about this Tybalt character, but I think all of the OoW armor skins are just hideous looking.

Speaking of armor, from an armor stats standpoint, which order is most beneficial to the engineer? I can always reskin the OoW armor if necessary.

Are these bugs or does the Flamethrower just suck?

Really? The AoE limit is 5?

I think Flamethrower deserves more for being a cone and needing to be in 425 range.
If there are 8 to 10 mobs scrunched together close enough for Flame Jet to hit them all, then they ALL deserve to burn for bad positioning!

I agree, but yes, the limit is 5. The exception to this rule are ground fields, which inflict their burning/poison/frost effect to anything that is standing in it, but any initial impact is limited to 5 targets.

Try playing other classes. Warriors have the most useful, if not the best, elite skill in the game with Signet of Rage. I agree that Juggernaut is crap, and the cooldown is way to long on the banner elite to justify its use, but Signet of Rage is by far the best elite I’ve seen.

Yes, I’m sure its Venomstriker. I don’t know of any other reliable way of checking other than going to Lion’s Arch and asking if someone can link it.

GW2DB is very unreliable for checking in game models. Most of the models on GW2DB show the default level 1 skin on everything. Look up any precursor weapon. Dawn, Twilight, The Colossus, etc. It shows every skin as some level 1 weapon when they don’t look like that in game at all.

More on topic, flamethrower doesn’t fail anywhere near 50% of the time, and the full cycle is 2 seconds, not 5 seconds. You also doesn’t need to be anywhere near melee range to use it.

Yeah, you’re right. My bad. I got that confused with “number of attacks” which is 5. Still, grenades do about double/triple the damage in half the time, and they’re ranged. Bombs do even more. And while you don’t have to be right up in melee range to use the flamethrower, you’re pretty darn close. At that point, you might as well just go into melee range and start doing damage that matters.

in Engineer

Kravick.4906

Flamethrower doesn’t scale right either. When I first started playing the engineer the flamethrower was one of the first skills I unlocked. I thought it was the best weapon ever. It mowed through low level NPCs like a fat kid eats through cake. I also used the grenade and bomb kits as well to try em out, but I stuck mainly with the flamethrower. I couldn’t understand why people kept saying the flamethrower was bad. Yeah, the miss bug is there, but its not that hard to work around.

20 levels later, the flamethrower is only doing a little bit more damage than it was doing when I first started using it. My bomb kit and grenades are doing TONS more damage than the flamethrower at this point. One grenade (remember, you throw 2, 3 if traited) does the same damage per throw that the flamethrower does in one cycle (2 seconds). Bombs just completely destroy the flamethrower in DPS and since you have to get close to use the flamethrower anyway, I just use bombs.

I switched out the flamethrower for the elixir gun. At least that weapon gives better utility. Elixir gun also does more damage than the flamethrower as well.

Why is your character suddenly promoted from Legionnaire to Centurion?

in Charr

Posted by: Kravick.4906

Kravick.4906

Rytlock says after you talk to him that it was a mistake to send to into the situation without more information. He says that under normal circumstances, you would be punished for it. However, for all he knows, Emer could have been in the wrong and your father in the right, so he can’t punish you for it. Rytlock trusts your decision, so he just lets it slide (he’s a tribune, he can do that). And you didn’t kill anyone except Emer, the soldiers were just basically “downed”, just like when you went you run out of health.

I did this not more than a day ago. The only thing you’ve said that is correct is that Rytlock admits he made a mistake sending me in without more information. As for “downing” the guards, mechanically within the game, yes that is what happened. I’ll just let that one go, but I find it extremely difficult to believe that every single guard I chucked grenades at, dropped bombs on, and shot bullets at somehow survived. At the very least thats still assault with a deadly weapon and can be construed as intent to kill. Lets not forget the jail break itself which is considered a capital offense.

With that said, this all took place inside the Iron legion city. Rytlock has no authority there except for his own legion. My character is Iron legion. I fall under the jurisdiction of Iron regardless of what the circumstances are. Remember, Blood and Ash are guests ATM. Then there is still the fact that I murdered Emer. It doesn’t matter that Emer “may” have been suspected of being involved. Emer was only “suspect”. Emer was only doing her job as a Legionnaire by trying to stop me. I killed her. That makes me a murderer. Even if Emer was guilty, thats still murder. No sentence of death had been given to Emer as of that point.

We also don’t know whos legion Emer belonged too. If Emer was blood, then I can see Rytlock pardoning the crime of murder with the Blood legion. However, the murder itself still happened on Iron legion soil. There is also the matter of the jail break and the assault on the city guards, which would fall under the jurisdiction of the Iron legion. It would take one heck of a silver tongue to convince the Iron legion not to press charges after that little rampage and I don’t see Rytlock having THAT much pull.

If Emer was Iron legion or Ash legion, Rytlock can’t do anything, period. There is just to many plot holes here and zero explanation of what was really going on. This part of the story was badly written. The other two storylines (Flame dad and Honorable sire) were very well written and I enjoyed em both. Gladium father is bad. Very bad.

I don't know what class to make

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Kravick.4906

Kravick.4906

I’m not going to lie. Both the elementalist and the engineer have slightly higher than average learning curves. Elementalists are designed with switching attunements (fire/water/air/earth elements) frequently. Sticking with one element is usually a bad idea. Engineers are designed similarly, but with switching kits (abilities that switch your weapon bar).

Engineers have the fewest weapons of any class, but they make up for it by having a crap ton of different kits that they can put in their utility slots. Kits are basically weapons all of their own that only engineers have access too. Engineers can swap in and out of these kits at any time with practically no cooldown. However, engineers do still currently have an absurd amount of bugs plaguing them. Engineers also have, IMO, the highest skill cap I’ve seen so far in this game. Its easy to be mediocre as an engineer, but extremely hard to be good as one. Unlike the warrior or guardian, where they can just run into a group of NPCs in PVE (do this in PVP and you’ll die) and face roll to victory, engineers require finesse and good keyboard dexterity to take on the same group of NPCs. Once you get good at it though, you’ll make those warriors go “WTF, how’d he pull that off?” I’ve done things with my engineer I couldn’t dream of doing on my warrior. If your twitch skills are above average, you’ll love this class. Regardless, engineers are an extremely fun class to play, but difficult to master.

I have not played an elementalist yet, so someone else will have to chime in on them.

Why is your character suddenly promoted from Legionnaire to Centurion?

in Charr

Posted by: Kravick.4906

Kravick.4906

Well, I rolled Ash Legion, but that should only affect your 1-10 quests. Throughout my 10 – 20 line (Honorless Gladium), I was still referred to as Legionnaire, and I didn’t gain any warband members.

On another note, why is Dinky still the only member who accompanies me into story quests? There should 2 others that joined during the 1 – 10 quests.

The Honorless Gladium storyline is even worse than the sudden promotion to Centurion.

The honorless gladium storyline made even less sense. Depending on the path you take, you end up breaking your dad out of jail, assault and possibly kill several city guards (equivalent of killing cops basically), and then murder your pursuer in cold blood. Your dad then jumps through the Asura gate never to be seen again. When you go to turn yourself in to Rytlock, he basically says, “Yeah I saw the whole thing, but don’t worry about it though. Even though the whole city saw what you did we’ll just pretend nothing happened. BTW, no explanation for you.” You never find out what the big deal is about why your dad needed to go find evidence of his innocence or why Rytlock lets you off the hook despite murdering several people. Then Rytlock gives you this super important mission as if nothing ever happened. That whole thing was very poorly written.

Appearance bugs in Charr females

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Kravick.4906

I think I figured out why this is happening. In beta and during launch, my very first character used this face. However, I made both the beta and the initial launch characters smaller on the height scale.

Made a new character (engineer) yesterday using the same face as my first character, and after jumping in the water today, I see this. The only difference between my first character and my other two characters, other than the face, is that I adjusted the height scale down on my first character (the Siamese looking charr in the bottom two pics). With my engineer and warrior I left them at the default height scale at character creation. So my beta and first character were both smaller than the engineer and warrior size wise.

After compiling the screenshots together I noticed right away that the aqua breather stays the same size regardless of the size of the model. On the Siamese charr the aqua breather looks bigger, but on the other two (normal height size) it looks smaller. The aqua breather is still the same size physically in the game though. Its just not adjusting the size of the aqua breather to the height size of the model.

I hope this additional information helps you guys fix this problem soon.

I have all exotics except my rings and earrings which are only mastercrafted. Running hammer / sword and shield combo. Switch out hammer to longbow for keep sieges. Over all my build is pretty defensive. The only offensive trait I even have is Berserker’s Power in the Strength tree.

I compared knigth’s amor stats with Melandru armor plus Grenth boots and yes, it gives more toughness then the karma armor but also less power.
Actually my attack value is 3101 with Hammer and 3022 with Rifle and I don’t wanna go down this values.

Moreover, before the karma armor I had the invader armor with crest of the soldiers slotted and knight trinkets that gave me a little bit more power then now with the Superior runes, something about 2130 toughness (actually 2038 with rifle and 1910 with hammer) but yes, less amor.

So could you say me your attack value with your weapon? I would like to know if the diff is so big or not

Attack value is 2901. Keep in mind that I still only have mastercrafted quality with 4 of my jewels. Crit is at 37% (really 57% with continuous fury).

You can’t both be right.

Actually, they can. The more efficient at farming you are, the faster you hit the DR. If you’re just wandering around the zone hitting up orichalcium/ancient wood nodes and hitting the occasional event you run into, you’ll never hit the DR. If you’re actively trying to get karma by doing events, you’ll hit the loot DR in no time flat. The karma DR has been hit and miss for me. I’ve never actually hit the karma DR by doing events back to back in the Orr zones, but I HAVE hit the DR while trying to finish map completion in the non 80 zones. I can only hope this is a bug.

Bye Bye Guild Wars 2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kravick.4906

Kravick.4906

It’s almost as if…new games have problems that take time to be sorted out. Weird.

I don’t get it either. And all these consumers expecting things to work right out of the box. Of course it doesn’t, nothing ever has… Ever mmo/game I played had bugs. Sure in Gw2 right now quite a lot is often broken, but that’s how it is when you are not rolling out something new. Everquest had a year of bug fixing, AO had a year of bug fixing, AoC had a yaer of bug fixing, WoW had a year of bug fixing, SWTOR is still fixing bugs. This game is one month in.. and already consumers are “threatening” to quit? I’d say, take a break come back when you think it looks better.
It’s like Apple with iOS maps, sure it is bad. And Tim Cook said they know, please feel free to use something else while you wait for it to live up to your expectations.
At least now a days developers are transparent enough to acknowledge problems and ask the moaning crowd to move on. In the old days it could take months before patches came out fixing only a percentage of the game breaking bugs. And even longer ago you had to trade in your game for a new version, make a new save or just live with it if say you saved right before fighting the Diamond Weapon.

You must not be very old, because back in the 90s, stuff DID work straight out of the box. They had too, because you couldn’t just have people download patches off the internet until the later half of the 1990s. So if the game did not work out of the box, your product wouldn’t sell. Same thing with consoles back then. Yeah, there were tiny little insignificant bugs that had no impact on the game play itself, but every aspect of the game worked the way it should have. Patches weren’t a thing back then. Then the 2000s rolled around and it became all about shoveling poop out the door with a fix it later mentality. This is the attitude right here that causes developers to think they can just shovel broken games out the door and expect us to pay them to be beta testers.

This game needed another 6 months before it was ready, but after NCsoft closed the doors on CoH like they did, I guarantee you that NCsoft forced Anets hand and told them to get it out the door before the end of their quarterly. This is not a working game, and no one should be apologizing for the state this game is in currently. Heck, we have two classes, each with at least half their abilities (not hyperbole here) that are either non-functional or bugged in such a way that you can’t even reliably use them. I would not call that “fit for release”. The game is beautiful, yes. Now if only the game actually worked.

Tonight, I tried to do CoF instance. Guess what? The event chain that opens the door is broke. The entire server of Fort Aspenwood cannot enter the CoF instance because of this. If major things like this happens on a regular basis (and it does, A LOT), the game is NOT ready for public release. Simple as that.

wow. you guys need to just report this stuff and move on. being so anally retentive like this on a brand new game shows the kind of extremely vain people that came here from wc and expect the same perfect graphics from a 1mo old game as those on a 10yr old one. calm down, go sit down and play.

for some of these things, the aqua breather can be explained, tho i dont know if they intended this or not: i have an 80 charr. dont know if you noticed but they rarely close their mouths all the way. so, open your mouth and move your toungue to close off breathing from your mouth. works fine thru your nose right? ok, maybe thats what charr are doing with the aqua breather, its sealed on their nose, and they created everything from submarines to tanks and charrzookas etc, maybe they are smart enough to know not to breath thru their mouths while under water. sheesh.

Nah, bro. The mouth doesn’t even move when underwater. If you even bothered to look at the third picture (second picture in the third picture) you’ll notice there is a huge gap between the muzzle and the top of the aqua breather. This isn’t the only charr character I have. As I said, I haven’t used every face, but the face shown is the only one that I have seen where this happens, and it happens every single time you go into the water.

As far as the rest of your post, this isn’t my first MMO. Graphical stuff like this rarely ever gets fixed unless you make a huge fuss over it. Not to mention that some of these problems are so noticeable that it would taken 2 seconds of QA testing to have seen them. This is extremely amateur work.

As an example, the busted night elf druid cat form leg after they revamped their textures. Its been years since I played WoW, but even as late as a year after that update they still hadn’t fixed it. As far as I know they still have that busted leg even today. You have to get on them about it if you ever want them to fix something like this, or it will never get fixed at all.

Oh, and one more thing I neglected to bring up. The top set of ears on charr females stick straight up at a 90 degree angle when swimming forward.

Since this thread is here I might as well add to the list of broken.

This is a screen shot of my charr standing still and not moving. In this picture everything is normal.

[img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/Kravick/GW2normal.jpg[/img]

In this picture is my charr moving forward with weapons drawn. Most weapons will float in mid air in front of my hand while moving forward. This happens with every 1 handed weapon in the right hand. This does not happen in the left hand. However, the sword that I am showing (Legionnaire Sword) in this picture is actually large enough that a small part of the hilt is still in my hand. With most other 1 handed weapons though, they actually come completely out of my hand and float there. This problem does not occur when standing still, moving backwards or sideways, jumping, or swimming. Only when running forwards or forwards diagonally.

[img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/Kravick/GW2floater.jpg[/img]

Now lets go underwater. I have not tested this with all female charr faces, but so far I have only seen this happen with the current face type shown. As you can see, the aqua breather is positioned much too high up on the face. It only covers the top of the muzzle leaving the lower jaw completely uncovered. From the rear angle (middle picture) you can also see that it is clearly not suppose to be this high up on the face.

[img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/Kravick/GW2UWBreather.jpg[/img]

Now I will be completely honest with you guys. I mean no disrespect and I don’t say this as an insult, but I noticed the very first day I played the game, and as for the aqua breather, I noticed that immediately the very first time I dove under water. I cannot see how any of this got past QA. I know graphical errors are typically considered low on the totem pole of bug fixes, but I seriously hope you get someone from the art team to fix this ASAP.

I really care about how my character looks, and the longer these bugs stay bugs, the more and more I become aggravated with this game. I really want to love this game, but some of these issues stick out like a sore thumb, and I cannot fathom how anyone from your QA team can miss these things.

EDIT: Well apparently the [img]urlgoeshere[/img] tag doesn’t work like it says it should so I’ll just go ahead and directly upload the images in their proper order.. First image is normal. Second image is moving forward which causes the main hand weapon to float. Third image is showing the aqua breather misplacement. Also, for whatever reason, photobucket keeps resizing my images. The images I uploaded directly to these forums are bigger and easier to see the problem with.

EDIT: I found more information regarding this issue. Read my post below for more details.

A view of the Charr

in Charr

OP, go to the Black Citadel inside the Imperator’s Core (big round thingy in the middle). There you can find tons of charr doing innovative things. One of them is even talking about how hes found a way to harness “lightning” (electricity) and wants to use it to replace steam engines. Another talks about how he has finally figured out how to fix the stability problem of adding rotating turrets to to those large tanks.

Now go upstairs to the Command Core (very top inside the instance, on the left) and talk to the Iron Legion tribune, Bhuer Goreblade. Then wait for the random banter between him and his assistant. The guy has inventions sitting in his office that he works on constantly between his regular duties. He also seems to have a problem misplacing his screwdriver.

Now go make a random newbie charr and choose Iron Legion. Watch the cinematic. Iron Legion is ALL ABOUT finding innovative solutions to solving their problems, military and non-military alike. The Blood Legion and Ash Legion don’t really do this, but Iron Legion? Those guys are the thinkers and scholars of the charr, but they’re also soldiers, and just because you’re a soldier doesn’t mean you’re constantly on the front lines stabbing and killing things.

Heres a RL example. US military has many research divisions, but the Air Force has the most/largest research projects going on. Every single one of their researchers are enlisted men and women who have gone through basic training. They ALL know how to fire a weapon and can handle themselves in a combat situation, yet some never see any real fighting.

Just because you have a military society doesn’t mean there isn’t R&D going on. R&D definitely requires scholarly thinking, but its not required to teach every soldier these methods. Most likely what happens is those that prove themselves to be extra innovative and smart get assigned to R&D tasks and get extra on the job training from their superiors.

So what would the 2H Axe skills look like?

in Warrior

  • I really would like to see an ability that tosses an enemy behind you, perhaps hooking them with the axe and spinning around to throw them towards your allies. Also useful in PvE to position & interrupt.

That sounds more like a polearm type ability TBH. Impale your target, then turn around and throw it behind you, etc.

Help me understand the longbow

in Warrior

Kravick.4906

I’ve finally figured out the longbow. My god, this weapon is insanely powerful. While the auto attack is absolute garbage, the burst is simply amazing. Thanks for your help everyone. Its probably best to think of longbows as a melee weapon that has a ranged root than to think of it as a ranged weapon.

@kandolo

Thanks for linking me that build. I used to think hammers were weak as well, but combining it with longbow = mass AOE devastation once you figure out the skill rotation. Now that I have also learned how to use hammer skills effectively on their own, I kinda think of the hammer as borderline OP in some situations. Hammers are slow, but they hit like a Mack truck. I think the highest auto attack crit I’ve seen so far was around 4k.

Now I hate greatswords and I think that weapon is crap.

Read it all. Very good read. Sadly, Anet will just lock this thread, which just further discourages people from playing this game. Locking threads like this sends a clear message that Anet doesn’t care.

Combo Fields: Learn Them Already People!

I play a warrior.. I have no combo fields, yet I am often setting of combo finishes…

The longbow burst skill, Combustive Shot, is a combo field. However, the longbow itself is crap since its useless outside of its long cooldown abilities.
