It wouldn’t surprise me if they pulled the same thing they did last year a month from now, which is spend $50 in the gem store and get yourself a free mini Gwynewatchamacallit. And most would bite.

This turned out to be a brilliant money sink, and kept people logging in over the entire Halloween event with no added content whatsoever.

I didn’t bite fortunately. In total I only farmed and opened about 2,5k bags, and I got myself an endless batwing tonic. Haven’t logged in since Thursday.

Despite being a miniature collector I didnt even open 1k ToT bags in total if I had to guess. I am not going to gamble away thousands of gold for a slim chance on an account bound mini. I will just vote with my wallet and dont buy the gemstore minis anymore.

We’re two. I’ve simply opened about 10k bags (all farmed) and stopped when I’ve got enough cobs to get 20 slot bags for many chars.

I don’t think I’m going to buy anymore anything from the gemstore with real money, and my minipet collection will be stucked at 270/273.

Thanks ArenaNet for letting me hate one of the few things I was still loving of the game.

Now please, ruin achievements too.

Signed: one of maybe your most active players.

I’ll just list up here for once, how much gold it would currently cost me, just to finish my collections so far about much I’m caring for those collections (excluding BLT weapons)

49 Gold Antons Boot Blade
68 Gold Beacon of Light
62 Gold Razahs Nightmare
172 Gold Crustacea
168 Gold Arthropoda
78 Gold Lord Taere’s Shadow.
91 Gold Komalie’s Sacrificial Blade

these 7 are missing for my Exotic Hunter. All others have I already bought from gold mostly due to Loot Sales, Crafting Sales and Dungeon Farming
Prices are from gw2spidy.com

If I just add all of this together, thats whopping 688 Gold that I would need to grind out just to complete that collection if I want to get them directly without having to wait about it, that someone sells those weapons for the Price that I want.
Thats like 688/1,25G = 550 Dungeon Runs !!
If id make for example 5 Runs daily, this would take me 110 Days, or basicalyl said nearly 4 months of straight Dungeon Grinding until I’d have all of this gold, unless I get somehow lucky with my loot drops and can speed up somehow the gold gain.

Somehow I’ve also the feeling, that some people keep the prices of those weapons listed here artificially up, because all other exotic collection weapons quickly fell down in their prices after some time, while those 7 rise and fall and always say the same or even became more valuable, than before.

I can understand that items, like Sam or that other quest related exotic accessoire are high prriced costing around 300g, because their dynamic events are bugged and can’t be farmed due to that alot.
But one should believe, that know were everybody knows whats needed for the collections, that after some time also those 7 weapons should become a kitteneaper again due to alot more players farming for them and thus letting the offer increase naturally.. but the offer stays nearly the same now for a long time.

When i think that I could buy from all this gold also some cheaper precursors or could gear my main chara in ascended stuff xD
But the achievements have higher priority ^^

Many weapons raised up on price since the feature patch, obviously for those achievements. If you don’t want to spent that much, just wait a few months

ABout the collection bugs:

The bug isn’t fixed, if you talk about that one, that requires you to open various kinds of champion loot bags of all their rarieties… opened today again some and no progression.
Or do you have to open first any kind of white quality loot bag first to unlock the collection first, before higher quality loot bags do count towards the collection??

It’s simply bugged: doesn’t matter what tier of bag you’ll open, the achievement doesn’t unlock.

I’ve seen a ninja fix at some champion bags’ names (f.e. Icy Strongboxes), that means we’ll have a fix at this collection on the next patch? I’ve reached more than 3000 bags to open…

Well, even if I’d have all the legendaries, I won’t need a collection for them ‘till i’ll see all the missing ones.

There are a lot of weapon set missing on the collection tag (Lyssa with weapons and the back, fractals and destroyers for example), why should we have one with the most prestigious weapons?

Well, As I can see, many people are sharing my thoughts.
I’m one of the minipet’s collectors who for sure will stop buying anything (not just minis) from the gemstore if they won’t change something on Gwynefyrdd to let every HUMAN get it, and by asking to people in game, it seems that we’re really a lot.

@ArenaNet, Gaile or whoever will show up in this thread again: remember that the casual player who spend some money on the gemstore once and then come back to another MMO is not a member of your playerbase. We are. We’re playing since headstart (some like me since 2005 with Guild Wars) and supporting your games, something that we loved, we shared to people who bought it and so on. Remember that the playerbase on a MMO is important, ‘cause a game of this kind can’t run only with new players

You guys going on and on about comparing Gwynefrydd to a precursor drop rate, just for argument’s sake, i proved that you can easily get 2 of them.

And over the 2 years i have been playing i only got 4 precursors.

It is NOT EVEN CLOSE. Precursors are way, WAY, WAY, more rare.

Its easy to get a god darn Gwynefrydd, just spend less time complaining more ingame doing 1h of Lab, 1h of Maize Balm farm, rinse n repeat.

Wow.

Seriously.

Yeah, you only need to open 2million+ bags. You’re not helping your argument at all.

You guys are crying a river making up numbers now? This is EXACTLY why i suggested instead of making senseless noise, if you wanted to make your point more accurate to record the amount of bags opened and make a GD spreadsheet on Google docs to document the drop rate.

So far it seems way closer to 100k, as i said my first one was EXTREMELY unlucky if you can actually read, and the 2nd one was indeed around 100k.

But hey i will leave you at your tantrums and just hope that someday you do put in some thought on getting what you want.

And, even if it was around 1/100k, would be good for you? Would be good for you spending around 5000g and losing more than the 80% of them (by looking at the value of the various items) to get an account bound minipet? Are you serious man? If yes you’d better visiting someone to help you learning some math.

Well, thanks for the clarification, but I guess for me and most of the players are putting effort and (real) money into the collection isn’t enough, and many will stop doing it as they stopped during the Mr. Sparkles/Llama releases.

The drop rate, even if as intended, is kitten ed ridicoulus, and RNG do its work.
I guess you won’t change anything on it, so I wonder how many people will keep buying all the minis from gemstore.

I’ve been meh with the story of Mr. Sparkles, and I finally got one from a friend’s code given at Gamescom.

I’ve been REALLY meh with the Llama, but I see that you’re giving it out even to people aren’t playing the game during streams, so I’ll see if I’ll get mine sooner or later.

With this kitten ed RNG I’m not ok at all, we have precursors for that, leave the minis out at least and let us obtain them as always, BY PLAYING. And if you don’t see the real problem, a tradable minipet would be a good compromise to allow everyone getting it.

I hope you’ll able to understand the point of view of real veteran players, someone who care to play the game and will play it for many years (if updated, obviously), but probably asking for the ArenaNet I loved in Guild Wars years ago, it’s out of reality.

So they added something rare in the game… something -very- difficult to get.

And because you want it and haven’t gotten it yet/don’t have a high chance of getting one to complete a collection that -you- specifically care about… you want the company that you’ve been spending money on to refund you?

That’s a little like demanding a refund on your car a month after you bought it because they just released cup holders you can’t afford.

And yes, I know the analogy isn’t perfect. I suppose a better one would have had to do with a car’s paint job and them releasing a new colour.

It’s late. Sue me.

What about…no?
There isn’t anything rare, ‘cause RNG doesn’t equal to Rare.
You can open one single bag in the whole event and get it.
You can open 200k bags in the whole event and don’t get it.
It’s rare? No, it’s freaking random.

I think this Mini will be the last straw for me as a miniature collector
Just too many things went wrong
- devaluation of set 1-3 minis by allowing to forge BLC and dragon bash minis
- Mr Sparkles and Llama mini
- making event minis less special by rereleasing them out of season
- putting living story S1 minis into the laurel vendor
- devaluation of Carlotta and Prince Thorn
- downgrading the graphics of some minis
- now this RNG horror with like 1 in a million chance

It just feels like too much for me to continue enjoying collecting these minis.

Well, I’m with you on that if they won’t take a step back on this one, and I guess I’ll stop buying anything from the gemstore.
Wondering that I could have sold all special minis for more than 10k gold…

Ok, I got some numbers from friends and I’ll say it: this RNG isn’t ok.
On about 1 million bags over 6 players, only one managed to find a single (account bound) minipet.

I’m an achiever AND a minipet collector (268/272 atm) and I find this way to give out minis real unfair: you gave Mini Mr. Sparkles away next year with a 50€ gems purchase and Mini Llama on random events and random people who will probably throw them away on ebay.

And now this.
I know many minipet collectors all upset since the “Mini Mr. Sparkles raging” leaving the collections (so NOT giving to you money via gemstore) and many wondering now to do the same, after realizing the existance of an account minipet almost impossibile to find.

Please, let us know what are you planning to do on the droprate, it’s insane for the 99.99% of the players, and since you’re caring mostly on casuals than veterans, you should review what you’ve done with this loot table.

Regards,
Kronos.

I’m just viewing collections as something you just come across in the process of trying to achieve another goal, rather than being a goal itself, so I don’t particularly mind the low AP or rewards-of-dubious-worth.

Mmm, no?
Maybe a pair of collection will fill themself (skritt one for example), the rest you have to complete by trying to achieve them, not automatically by trying to achieve something else.

Mmm, yes? I’m talking about how I (and possibly others who also have been collecting skins for the sake of collecting) perceive the collections rewards. I’m not saying that’s how you or anyone else has to see it that way. I agree the rewards are lacking if you’re pursuing them as a goal, but that still doesn’t change the fact that I’m not pursuing them as such.

Now I don’t know how many people collect like I do (only ANet has access to those numbers), but it’s possible there are quite a few people who do because the rewards are generally incentives for people to do the achievement. So if the rewards are meh, it means one of two things:

1) ANet doesn’t want people doing the achievements.

2) Anet doesn’t think people need incentives to do the achievements (because they’re already doing them anyway).

I’m going to go out on a limb and assume it’s the latter.

Man, the collections are a goal too, above all for the veteran players.
Nobody of the newbies would fill any of them, nobody.
And almost nobody of veteran players should have complete all the collections by playing (3-4 of dungeons are automatically completed if you’ve complete the PvP wardrobe before the 1st feature patch).

The reward are not balanced anyway, you just have to look at the achievement points reward. Soon i’ll get my 25k chest and i’ll get 30g as i got at 5k, 10k, 15k and 20k, not even and improvement of it for someone who complete almost everything in 2 years.

So I’m not the only one here that thinks the AP rewards (at least) aren’t worth the effort. That makes me feel better about ignoring certain collections.

Mmm, no?

Mmm, yes?

Many of the collections fill out automatically for me on my quest to round out my wardrobe . I’m nowhere near done on any of them yet, but if I happen to have some dungeon tokens to spare, I’ll treat myself to a nice new skin or two, and eventually I’ll fill out those collections as time goes by. If I need to outfit a new character, I’ll keep an eye on the TP for the crafted skins that my wardrobe is still missing, or just craft them myself, thus also filling collections on the side.

The most “out of the way” I’ve gone so far collection-wise is going through the fine dining collection and cooking each of the steaks on there, then distributing those among the characters so each gets the food they most profit from. Similarily, I’ve treated my chars to a batch of master oils etc. they don’t normally get to use.

Maybe I’ll eventually go out of my way to grab a skin or two that I really wouldn’t have gotten without the collection, once it’s close to finishing, but only time will tell. I’m in no hurry to finish them, but am positive that I will finish most of them eventually without much trouble.

How many people as set a goal to complete the whole wardrobe or even the 50% of it? Maybe less than 1% of the player, less of the percentage of people reached the AP daily cap

Actually, it’s been mentioned several times by A.net staff, but I’m not going to waste my time searching for the replies…but I know it’s been mentioned at least three times, if not more…also, some, if not most of these are not affecting everyone, and possibly only affecting a minor amount of players…so that makes it more difficult to track down the problem(s).

So no one misses that line

You’re wrong.
It’s affecting almost every player, ’cause just a few been able to activate these collections right after the patch gone live. The rest like me, been stuck and unable to do it.

No, I’ve not seen the code, but I’m a programmer so I’m not talking randomly.
If there’s something game-breaking like random crashes of the game, of the servers, you have to focus on that, not on releasing things (like every tuesday) on the gemstore.

But what I’m seeing so far is the same situation of one month ago, day by day, like the problem isn’t so important to fix and caring about players isn’t ArenaNet’s focus anymore.

I’m sure as a programmer you can understand why the Graphic designers, those who put those new things on the gemstore every tuesday, cannot fix game-breaking crashes.

What if the problem is related to some animations or something created by the Graphic Team? Animations and models are part of the code too

+1 to OP. Collection is the “big” feature of the pack, and it’s still bug 3 weeks after the release…

fishball > to start the Jormag collection, you have to loot the Jormag Claw fragment from the Jormag world boss event chest in Frostgorge Sound. And that’s RNG based, so I hope you have more luck than me (one try per day since launch and still nothing… and the funny part is that it takes the place of others loot, so you can still drop it instead of another rare item even if you already have it…)

Yep, i’m doing every boss everyday since the patch, and still i didn’t get the item to activate the jormag collection (as many other people); but, many people are reporting issues and bugs with that collection too, so…

Since they’re the only real feature for “veteran players” we got with the feature patch, are you going to fix them or we’ll have to wait ’till the next “fixing patch”?

So far, we found bugged:
- collection of champion bags (find every tier of 5 different bags);
- collection of wines around Tyria;
- collection of beers around Tyria;
- collection of fractal weapons (not confirmed);
and maybe more of them we didn’t notice since they’re hidden but bugged.
Any information about this? I know a lot of players kittened off about the bugs and problems you’ve introduced with this “feature” patch, so a little explanation would be good for your “veteran players”.

I get it. What’s not to get. Guy A wants some stuff and Guy B wants some stuff, but those two guys…they may not want the same stuff.

The point is you’re right. A lot of stuff other MMOs have provided Anet hasn’t yet provided. That’s 100% true. What you’re missing is that some of us came here to get away from other MMOs. I don’t LIKE other MMOs or I’d be playing them.

Anet is focusing on the stuff that makes it different from other MMOs not the same. And those who like the features those MMOs have are feeling they’re missing out…and they are.

Doesn’t change a single thing I’ve said up until now. Not one, single thing.

Man, i’ve played 8 year on GW while played almost every MMO came out in the last 10 years (and seen them failing or copy-pasting something else). What i’m asking is what the most of the community of MMOs want to see after TWO YEARS and to EXPAND what the game ALREADY HAVE or simply HAVE ANNOUNCED before.

It’s not difficoult, obviously if you’re not just a fanboy.

- new recipes
- new skills (healing skills, and ok most of them are bad/useless, but still are new)
- new skins
- one balance patch (I know that much has yet to be done but it’s a first step)
- new maps (one in pvp, one in wvw and one in pve)
- new boss mechanics (tequatl, mega wurm ecc)
- megaserver (I like it, finally maps aren’t ghost towns anymore)
- seasonal events
- living story (I am unsure if there are other games updated this frequently)

I am sure I am missing something but hey you get the picture.
Granted, our priorities may differ from devs ones, as for example I would’ve focused all the firepower into fixing bugs and balancing classes as absolute top priority, but to blindly state that “they did nothing” is unfair and overstretched.

It’s not so unfair.
Ok, they added into the game some things (not many, some), but still we need something similar to a content patch, an expansion, something really to play in a MMO. A map released in 3 parts (4 living stories, 1 month and a half) is not enough for the game, and doesn’t count as a fresh air to it.

I don’t want to give any real opinion about the patch since they’ve announced everything, since we could say what will be good or not, but since now what i’ve seen is only a lot of noise and nothing to taste.

It’s a feature patch not a content patch. There’s not supposed to be content in this patch. If you’re waiting for content, you’re going to be disappointed.

I know that, but when we’ll see a content patch, at the 10th of the game?

Whether you like it or not. we’re getting content patches relatively often. It may not be content you like. In the past it wasn’t even permanent content. But it was content. If you like that content, you’re happy and if you don’t you’re not.

You’re not really asking when we’re getting a content patch. You’re asking when are we getting a patch with content you’re interested in.

Ok, let’s make it clear.
On a normal MMO content will be something like:
- playable races
- new classes
- new maps/continent
- news skills
- new level cap (not working on gw2, and i don’t even want it)
- new dungeons/raids
- new mini-games/activities
- new pvp game modes (if existing in it)
and so on.

What Guild Wars 2 needs?
- new skills (yes, utilities or rework on existing)
- new weapons on existing classes (to change the meta and/or get some fresh air)
- new classes (they announced that when they’ll release a new class, will be a heavy one)
- new races (tengu WERE SUPPOSED TO BE RELEASED WITH THE GAME, look at the many interview and sources in 2010-2012)
- new pvp modes/maps (they tried with courtyard, but till they’ll put into at least join solo, will be useless)
- new complete regions (ok, they added dry top, but it’s ONLY a start)
- new dungeons (for who wants them, i don’t like dungeons in here and instanced content)
- new minigames (where are the minigames on every race main town that they announced before the release?)
- new guild related contents, ’cause MMOs are made by guilds (guild halls, guild mission, guild rewards)

Rest is the normal fixing, QoL and balancing that usually a game of this caliber needs to have. And i’m not even mentioning something like precursor crafting, new legendaries and many things announced in these two years.

Now, tell me what of these things are supposed to be added into the game soon? Cause everything i’ve heard so far, it’s just they want to use the LS to add things into the game. In 2020 we’ll be still waiting to go on Crystal Desert, probably.

I’m probably one of the most active player on the world in this game, but i can understand that right now the game points to satisfy new players and people logging in once in a week.

Why does ArenaNet hate farming?

Get More Gold!

Remember that you can exchange gems and gold at our currency exchange on the second tab of the Black Lion Trading Company! Currently, you can get 1 gold for about 15 gems and 50 gold for about 670 gems!

Did I answer your question?

I know about it, and that’s why I started a thread like this one

Why does ArenaNet hate farming?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kronos.3695

Well, most of the people I know were waiting this event to farm on the Pavillion, imagine their surprise when they didn’t see a real way to farm anything (you can’t be sure to complete all the times the Boss Blitz with a gold reward thanks to megaservers)…

The economy of this game is going to hell, and you can see it by looking at the prices of precursors (some at 1500g), fine T6 mats, runes and other random mats. Right now, a normal player (not a casual) could take more than a year to get the money to buy a precursor (assuming that they won’t raise on price anymore), is that normal for you?

I don’t think going on this way would be good for the state of the game, ‘cause if you expect that people are going to buy gold by converting gems (that’s your goal I guess, no?), many would quit the game to find something where you actually have a chance to farm to get what you want.

The game needs some farming, even not during the events to let the economy being more stable and players able to get money to get what they want. We’ve seen several farming for several months: Cursed Shore, Karka, Cof p1 and so on, but now people who want to “farm” some money, can actually only do dungeons every day (about 30g/day in almost 4 hrs) and that’s not a way to help “new players” to get their money to buy skins and so on.

Do you want people to buy gems with real money and converting them to gold? Just say it please, so we wouldn’t ask anymore for any way to farm gold in game, by playing.

TL;DR The game need a way to farm money to control the economy and help people get their money to buy skin/things.

On capping Achievement points: Don't.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kronos.3695

Kronos.3695

Well, I’m one of these “achievements hunters” (22.010 AP right now) and frankly I got tired to repeat the same thing every day to continue playing on my style (doing and completing everything). if I wanted the daily grinding (because an effort not less than 3 hours to complete both dailies, is grinding), I would have played a different MMO.

This change was necessary, every real completionist wanted that simply to play a game, not a daily grinding (and don’t mention the leaderboards, an achiever like me doesn’t care about it) to force players logging in. The other players still get their APs for years, the achievement hunters (aka daily farmer, sadly) can play the game on the way they wanted to.

I’m currently at more than 9.200 AP done only with dailies, but when I’ll reach the cap, I’ll keep doing them for FREE GEMSTORE ITEMS and LAURELS.

Most of the people on the game won’t reach the cap even on 4 years of gaming, what’s the matter?

I seriously didn’t get the sense of this thread.

gw2 precursor recipe/scavanger hunt news?

in Crafting

Posted by: Kronos.3695

Kronos.3695

We want to let you know that the ability to build your precursor will not be in our upcoming Feature Pack. The way progression and rewards work in Guild Wars 2 have changed quite a bit since we initially talked about that feature, and our main horizontal progression systems are about to get some additional updates in the upcoming feature pack. Because of that, we are looking into several ways to integrate building your precursor into our new updated reward and progression systems we’re working on, which is requiring additional development time and iteration. As always, we’ll share details on this system once it’s far enough along in production we’re ready to discuss it.

Nice, we waited for more than three months without any information, and now you let us know that the feature we waited for, will not be released in this “feature pack”.

Just for information, what are you going to release with a feature pack, without a desiderable one like the precursor crafting?

However, I hope that you’re aware that with your post, you’re going to ruin the economy around T6 mats and precursors, ’cause everyone is going to buy them after waiting so long.

Well played, ArenaNet

ArenaNet, do one favour to all players: remove the achievement.
There’s no point to have it in game, not being able to complete when some people got it randomly (via some bugs).

Kronos.3695

I know that it’s pointless trying to discuss about the situation, but i’ll try.
Please, do something for afkers & leavers, it’s pointless keep trying to play if half of the matches starts without the 5th beacuse he doesn’t join or ’cause he stays afk at spawn ’till he got kicked from the game (to maybe come back at the end to avoid disonorable stacks).

I don’t know, create a re-matching system at start, re-implement the ready button to start a match (if everybody doesn’t click “ready” in 20 seconds, the people didn’t do it, got kicked from it), but SOMETHING.

It’s kinda useless hoping to play a match when most of the times we got situations like these.

Thanks for understanding.

This thread still going..?
kitten .

The same 2-3 people are so entitled they feel they should bump it over and over until they get what they want. Dailies for logging in.

No, the only way to make sense to all of this, is placing a “weekly cap for AP on dailys”, something like: 50 weekly AP on dailys.

Everyone would happy to play without constrictions, achievement hunters too.
Right now, the leaderboards is just based on dailys on monthlys, so it’s more than useless, but obviously most of AP hunters aren’t on top beacuse of that, beacuse of dailys and so on, but for being a completionist (talking for me, but i guess i’m talking for every achievement hunter with more than 16-17k AP) and doing everything since dayone.

I guess i’ll do a suggestion soon, maybe will make everyone happier.
