I would like to see (in general):
- more emotes
- housing (and I want MY place, not a stinky bachelor pad full of other single people)
– also visible monuments. As someone who didn’t play GW1, I feel very left out with
an empty Hall of Monuments or visible display of my achievements.
- new skills/ weapon variations
- at X level, unlock a "trait switch’ for a second situational set of traits.

I would like to see living zones instead of ghost towns. To that end I suggest:
- rewards for re-visiting zones— and not just to go after the easy champ-fests.
- I like the idea of re-setting zones. Like Skyrim has done for skills, once you’ve maxed out a zone, you could reset it and start over. The second time through, maybe you could get rewards appropriate to your level? Perhaps one piece of gear for your level + a gather collection appropriate to the zone? Maybe a map-related title or map-related skin or mini?

More versatility in earnings:
- the ability to trade X dungeon awards for Y dungeon awards.
- the ability to earn Black Lion weapon skins without the giant gem sink
- the “special” LS items trade-able; what possible use could I have for a half dozen Queen Jenna minis? Similarly, I have no interest in keeping an injector backpack when I have a needle phobia; I’d rather give it to someone who’d appreciate it.

Minis. Totally useless.
- I have never wanted a mini, but I have several just because they’re bound. I would destroy them if they didn’t have dedicated space for them. (Or give them to someone who would appreciate them if they were trade-able. )
- Could you give these stupid things a purpose? Make them race-able or something?

I have a lot to say about gear aesthetics. Much of the endgame was supposed to be all about making your character look just the way you want. As IndigoSundown said waaaay back in this thread, “The current system…fosters the idea that a player should get one look and one look only.” It’s true. It’s also directly opposed to the original endgame ideas. So, I suggest:
- MORE TOWN CLOTHES. We’ve been promised these/begged for them since beta. Just allow us to buy (from regular merchants! Or craft-able would be good too) the stuff NPCs wear! And please, let players trigger town clothes/armor. I don’t want an armor switch for jumping into water or stubbing my toe.
- As Donari suggested, I’d like more merging of town clothes and armor. We can choose an item for PvP or PvE; why not for town clothes use and vice-versa?
- I would like to see more armor variations, but I realize that’s asking for a lot. How about making female armors accessible to males and male armors accessible to females? I want to cross-dress!
- Several players also mentioned wanting particle effects for armor/weapons. Whether they’d work like dyes or sigils or infusions, I don’t care. I would love to add colored glows, light/dark effects, elemental auras, or snow effects, etc. to certain characters.

Here’s wishing for a Happy New Year for All!

Will we actually kill the tower?

When I saw where the antitoxin bar was at the end of the weekend, I groaned. Most folks are already done with their achievements and therefore, are done with the tower. I guess a few people are still playing it (pretty much third floor only) but farming rewards are far better elsewhere for a lot less pain.

So, either Anet re-tweaks rewards or re-weighs the antitoxin, or… we’ll still have the Tower hanging around mid-December.

Collaborative Development Topic- Living World

Regarding Living Story… I would like to propose that when a character chooses charm/heart, dignity/crown, or ferocity/fist that the game not only compiles it as a statistic, but uses it to determine new, ongoing personal story for the character, perhaps coupled with a player’s Order to offer a variety of possibilities. When each of us created a character, we made some choices and the game expanded upon that. Now, though, there are a lot of L80s out there who’ve completed their personal stories, but surely the Orders have many activities besides the ultimate dragon fights— or maybe new personal stories could continue to ferret information, discover lore with dragons’ weaknesses, or build new weapons for combating dragons. We, as players, want things to be somewhat changeable in creation of a Living Story, and we want to take part in that. This could be one way to do that.

I would also like to see players’ choices compiled for each race and then make those choices have an effect on the world somehow. How the characters of the world behave should at least effect a race’s city zones via NPC behaviors, but I would like to see something farther-reaching. In this way, all characters’ choices would have some meaning and contribute to the Living World as a whole.

Do you hate Trahearne?

I hate him because he is an unforgiving Mary-Sue. He takes credit for events the player does, is universally loved despite being as interesting as a wet blanket, and lets not even START on that godawful VO.

And, speaking as a Sylvari, let’s not forget that the kitten Pale Tree gave him my sword! What the heck does a scholar need an epic sword for? I’m the one who’re supposed to fight the dragon, not stand in the back shouting advice.

^ Agreed. Especially the Mary Sue part.

I would love to see male characters in chain mail bikini briefs or Speedos and dance slippers.

Bottom line: More choices for everyone, please!

Personally, I’d like more light armors for females without butt-bows and ruffles and frills.

I love my mesmer and survivability is way better than my elementalist or even my ranger. As others said, clones are the way to go. Using weapon/utility skills that grant extra clones/illusions and specing traits for clones with higher health and and damage makes me really tough to defeat. In dungeons, my clones take lots of boss hits for the team. In PvP, mesmers are hated and feared because opponents will hit illusions with big skills, essentially wasting them while you can call up another round of cannon fodder.

Try using any clone skills first. When the clone hits first, it grabs the mob’s attention giving you the freedom to call up more clones or just destroy the mob yourself while it’s busy chewing air.

I don't get the Combat System - advice?

Movement and dodge really are key to staying healthy during combat.

Guardians are the “tankiest” class in GW- heaviest armor, good heal skills, good support buffs. They aren’t big on the DPS but if you want slow and survivable, then yes.

Ranger or Engineer?

Kumion.7580

Ranger is very target and go. It also has the reputation of “it’s probably a bot”. (I don’t run with a brown bear because of this.)

Engineer is more… see the mob ahead, choose kits, set up the traps and turrets where you won’t pick up extra non-aggressive mobs, plan how to lure your target mobs to your chosen site and how to run/kite them through your traps… and go! If you’re surprised it can be ugly.

So, the choice kind of depends upon your play style.

1. When I’m looking for armor on the trading post, I don’t necessarily want to look at every armor, just those my character can wear. To that end, can we please have pre-sorted categories for light, medium, and heavy armors?

2. Also, I’m sure this has been said before but I would like more town clothes options. As it is, you can’t change them at all and some of them are beyond ugly. I’d like to be able to buy different items in the main cities, but gem shop would be okay if you must.

Bosses and chests need to give better rewards.

I agree Champions need to have better rewards; they have become nothing more than obstacles to avoid at this point.

Agreed. I’ve fought a couple of Champions recently for zero loot rewards and they are not easy, nor was I slacking in participation. Unless they announce some changes, I’m never doing another Champion.

It seems to me that respawns happen much faster in higher-level areas. Sometimes, the respawns happen so fast you can only maintain a holding position at which point it feels wasteful and useless to kill for several minutes without getting anywhere or accomplishing anything. I would like to see the spawn timer slowed down just a bit.

This game is sooooo confusing for a new player!

Since you’re familiar with MMOs (even if you’ve been away from them for a while), I think it would be beneficial to hit the options menu (gear icon at the upper left). Go through and re-arrange your movement buttons to ones you’re comfortable with and set a key for dodge. Next, have a look at all the check boxes; they’re fairly self-explanatory but just ask the map chat channel “/m” if you have questions. It helped me to look over options on chat, too – so I could see the chat channel command tags. You can also set chat to give you game info, which may help you figure out your skills in action.

One of the options is “fast targeting” which you may want to try. Instead of making you manually target something, fast targeting will drop your skill right at your feet. If you don’t mind being in the thick of things (and can dodge out quickly) then you might give this a try, even temporarily. I tried it on my elementalist, but didn’t like giving up the range of manually targeting. PvPer friends tell me fast targeting is the way to go for them, though.

Others have explained the quest hearts, but I’ll add a little more. You’ll find the hearts disappear when you leave the area. Just popping back into the area will make the heart reappear on the right, establishing how full your bar is. Hearts also disappear when finished, but you’ll get a mail filled with your coin rewards for completion. Opening the map will give you the status of how many hearts you’ve done, PoIs and vistas you’ve found. Mousing over hearts is a useful way to determine the level of an area, too.

This thread is really helpful, too: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OMG-If-you-only-knew-this-tips-for-new-players

Good luck!

I’ve been looking for that armor, too! I thought it was town clothes as well, but either way, I want it. I hope someone replies with how to get it.
