Here are my entries:

My pirate themed mesmer in Arah, my thief surveying the terrain in Fractals, and my guardian lighting up the night in AC.

Another day another makeover project, this time for my thief; I’m a little tired of her cultural t2 chest, even though it totally has an arc reactor type chest light.

I’m going for a kind of very technology centric yet playfully bright look, and I’m having a hard time mixing and matching armours. It seems that weapon placement is linked to pants on asura and a lot of them make sheathed weapons just clip through the leg. I was thinking of just throwing on some cultural t3, but there has to be something better out there.

Also I totally just noticed she looks super indignant in the first screenshot, heh.

Took way fewer attempts this year, just had to remember the proper order to get the first phase done the quickest. The orange circles also make a huge difference, so much more visible than last year.

A couple guildies and I just did AC and we opened up the extra slots for people at the end. We had a mesmer join and argue that we can’t do AC because it’s contested, he argued for about 3 minutes before finally leaving the group; we were standing at the last boss.

So if it doesn’t have to be in dungeons I am totally going to have to go retake all of my screens; there are way prettier backdrops outside dungeons that would fit the overall theme of my characters better.

I had the same haircut as the first one for a while, it drove me nuts because it clipped through a lot of armor; I like short hair or updos for clip free armor fun time, number 3 doesn’t have too many clipping issues from what I remember.

There is a BIG difference between theory and practice. Whilst it may work for some, it may not work for others. Some excel with a hands on approach, whilst others excel on reading and gathering info. At least understand that basic principal. The player alone needs to understand where he/she is going wrong. That is the only way to learn and experience anything. So they can learn to rectify their mistakes. Lambasting them, or creating an atmosphere where they can’t approach someone for help. If anything it will hinder them – so don’t complain if they aren’t exactly meeting your requirements.

There is something called constructive criticism. Give them that at the very least, so that they can get better.

I just completed the best pug roulette TA run ever.

Chat is from the end of Malrona/the next skip where two of them died because walking two feet to reset spiders is hard and it took forever for them to kill 3 elite spiders. I observed from Fyonna’s room.

Also my diagram of an experienced group, for future reference; ignore the quality I’m on my toaster laptop.

Pft, that face type thing is beautifully horrifying. Those eyes can see into a persons soul and instantly judge your worth.

My guildy and I might have spent the entire afternoon yesterday trying to find interesting backdrops and taking several hundred screens in various dungeons.

If it’s an action shot, the countdown to start spamming screenshots is totally 3, 2, 1 VOGUE.

Yeah, the shape is really awkward looking on anything but the thinnest of character models. I can’t think of any dyes that would make them match, just textures are so different; what did you use?

I went with the TA shoulders, for now at least.

As for the pants, I like the T3, but texture wise it doesn’t seem to match, T2 isn’t as odd a texture, but the TA armor is just so shiny.

Also fooled with colours some more, and changed the hair.

I had nothing to do today, so warrior update!

I still need to get the gloves and boots from TA, but that won’t take long. I am undecided between the TA shoulders or the T3 cultural ones (Oaken). Right now I am fooling with the dyes, taking ideas from Iris. I’m trying to go more green at the feet, with more and more yellow, orange and pink the closer it gets to the head.

For colours I am trying midnight fire, emerald, jalapeño, toxin, spring leaf, flare, strawberry, molten, cornsilk, and bold. I am having trouble with the chest.

Collecting the last few pieces of nightmare court armor for my warrior’s fashion super makeover update is making me hate pugs more than I already do.

I help my guildies with their dungeons right after reset, so when they are not around I pug for the things I want; but man, today it’s like the illiterate are out in droves. I have killed 2 dungeons that I had already begun to solo because people ignore my LFM requests and I don’t have a partner with which to kick them.

Maybe I need another guild just for fashion; warrior makeover is totally coming along though, as soon as I stop trolling forums and stuff.

I’m in the same boat regarding which light character to choose, my guildy and photographer votes mesmer; but so many human females.

Duoing it with 2 eles, not stacking, takes only a few seconds; hooray might. It would only take 12 if one of us died or we failed horribly, or we were trolling each other, which admittedly we do a lot.

Didn’t you hear? GS mesmer is the new meta, and you are a mean and hurtful person if you think otherwise.

Gotta be careful, or this will degenerate from fashionable dungeon running, to cats of GW2 dungeon runners.

@ Iris: You’re right about the flower hair colour suiting the overall colour scheme better; maybe I am just being biased against the flower hair. Looking at the different types of bromeliad I think it is the interesting leaf shapes and colours that appeal to me most, and to me the petals look a lot more like stiff leaves than the soft flower petals of the Scarlet hair.

@DeSade: The face is totally amazing and freakish; also don’t make me break out kitten pictures of the deaf cat.

My Sylv has a green color and glow, which shows through the helm and shoulder parts. Your current skin and glow color may make those parts look more vibrant.

Thank you for the help and ideas. I definitely agree with you on the nightmare court armor for the more vibrant leafy texture, I hadn’t really thought of looking into it because I couldn’t remember if I had depleted my stock of tokens or not. The textures on the nightmare court armor give the colours that sheen of waterproofing that tropical plants acquire to stave off rot in humid environments.

Right now I am fooling around with skin and glow colours with a total makeover kit, leaning mostly towards cooler greenish yellows and vibrant dark greens; I am up in the air as to go with a bright yellow or a green glow.

As for hair the it’s a tough choice, while they both can be coloured very brightly the Scarlett hair style has a bit more complex colouring to it that could be tied in with the armor. I’m also looking at the new short kind of leafy asymmetrical hair, it matches the shape of the Yellow Bromeliad leaves.

I don’t know if I am ready to give up freakish nose-less face though.

Lord of the (uninfused) Rings: Return of the Casual

It’s a stretch, but I love Tolkien.

The first one is a yellow bromeliad, the second is a croton which come in a bunch of different shades, but seem to be predominantly yellow/green/pink or fuchsia. The armor is currently T2 (warden armor), I think T3 (oaken) might be a better option as it seems to dye a bit brighter.

The features of the sylvari I can take or leave, I’m not attached to the cone head at all.

Edit: I’ve now got another friend on a makeover binge on his sylvari, but he is looking at jumping spiders and mantis shrimp for his colour inspirations.

I was thinking something along the lines of the plant attachment. I’ve got a bit of pale green/leaf green in my skin pattern ad glow, like in the base of the leaves. Yellow and orange, maybe add a bit of orange/pink or salmon accents instead of the warm brown/dark yellow?

I quite like the look of bright tropical plants when making sylvari; pinks/greens/oranges and yellows seem like a nice change of pace from all the flesh tones of human/norn characters.

I mean if I can look like a freakishly bright tropical plant alien; why not?

I’ve been fooling around with banana, enamelled generation, and molten. I think the yellow is still not quite right, I can’t seem to find a nice yellow that has a pale orange undertone.

Also ignore the half naked sylvari, my guildmate is helping brainstorm the makeover.

I’m pretty sure it can see into a persons soul; but I totally fixed it.

I am in need of armor colour ideas for a bright yellow sylvari warrior. I used a total makeover kit on her a few days ago with the goal of giving her the freakiest looking sylvari face, but since then I have been drawing a blank for armor colours. My goal is to keep her in some form or combination of TA and sylvari cultural armor, full T2 being a place holder for now, but I can’t seem to come up with a nice vibrant colour scheme that fits.

Halp plz.

Heh, it’s pretty easy to separate oneself; sitting at gallants folly watching people brawl with those whispers NPCs, knowing that a good number of them are probably looking for experienced only CoE groups.

There is a condi engi and a mace/shield guardian going at it right now, it’s taking forever.

Edit: maybe next I’ll wait for an LFM that says READ: zerker blah blah, I have time to kill before I have to cook dinner.

So I waited for a zerker/experienced/ping gear type group to pop up for CoE, as I was inspired by Anierna’s experiement, it went as follows:

I joined up, pinged my gear and all that, then asked if they wanted me to swap to my elementalist, because there was another guard in the group, and double guards are bleh in CoE. I was told not to, because “3 heavies and 2 eles is perfect”. The others ping gear and it’s a mess, sure it’s berserker, but the runes range from ruby orbs to soldiers runes.

They pull the ice eles and I drop my reflect for the ice shards, the elementals are alive long enough to ice shard a second time, 2 people die; I notice the other guard is staff and I have strength in numbers.

They fail to bait out the leap for the champ wolf, 3 people die. When we get to alpha no one knocks him back, 3 people run to the corner and sit there anyway; an ele targets FGS and 2 people go down.

On the golem boss the warrior is running around killing all the turrets the whole time, the fire fields are ruined by staff 3. Next up on the console the warrior says “1-4 i defnd’”, on the 4 part 1 person must have activated immediately because as soon as the countdown is finished we get the 2/5 complete message. We manage to activate it twice more before we get knocked off. One ele apologizes for failing, the guard responds with “lol it’s ok, ur hot, i always forgive hot girls” and I face palm.

The rest of it pretty much continues along those lines; we never have more than 15ish stacks of might, and I am sure a bunch of them are from me spamming my virtue and my single blast finisher from focus.

I am sad.

We all get our nightmare fuel from somewhere, pug fractals are as good as any I guess.

Credibility is lost regardless, unless by some slim chance he wins. A no show would just add insult to injury by making it seem like he didn’t even have confidence in his own arguments and/or abilities.

To be fair, from the videos I’ve seen, Kohler is not the hardets AC boss, that goes to the rumbler enemy at the end of path 3. Though yes, dodging kohler is easier said than done, and a nightmare for the first dungeon ever. If you havn’t learned to dodge very very well, you’re going to be in trouble.
Thats what bugs me though, he requires such detailed reaction time, and hes the very first boss, its too big a spike.

You could just y’know, use reflects.

I wish this could be on twitch, that chat though.

Stage 1 of total guardian makeover and I am not sure if I got the head size to body type ratio quite right. I always find it tricky on female charr because of their neck muscles and the way armor tends to fit them. I have gone through so many total makeover kits on this character alone, I might have an addiction.

Also I hate hair clipping with a fiery passion.

The elitism on this game it’s only growing and only damaging the community itself, being very un-friendly for new players as the LFG Tool and the “silent” kicking of players when inside the dungeon… clearly shows were we are headed on this.

I wouldn’t say it’s unfriendly to new players, I’d say it’s unfriendly to ignorant or wilfully ignorant players.

Last night two guildies and I put up an LFM for CoE, typical “read this zerker blahblah” message, I had not put experienced in the description and we got a brand new thief player. He told us up front that he was new, confirmed he was in fact in bererker gear as requested by my LFM, asked if that was ok, and if we would tell him anything he needed to know.

He was so new that he wasn’t even in proper zone for the dungeon, so we waited for him before doing the first champ. He was a little confused about the 1-4 console part, the laser jumping and got a bit antsy about the damage Alpha’s PBAoE did (no guard); but, he blasted my ele’s fire fields instead of ruining them and dodged appropriately for the most part. He even asked what dungeon potions were best for Alpha, much to my surprise.

TL;DR: A new player who joins specific LFMs all willy nilly is not going to have a good experience and will probably be kicked, that is their own fault for not reading. A new player who reads the LFM and makes a bit of an effort to know what is going on before hand is the best kind of new player, and shouldn’t have any problems.

Hmm, AC is the new CoF i guess.

I think the amount of fail in AC is worse than CoF ever was, or maybe I have blocked out some of the more colourful CoF runs I have done.

Sure it makes for great pug roulette stories when you are in the mood, but most of the time it’s far less frustrating to just solo or duo it. A friend of mine keeps a folder just filled with screenshots of fail pugs that I send him, I’ll have to see how many are from AC compared to other dungeons.

So my charr guardian was originally female, then it was male, then female, then male, then male, then female, then male again; now I am debating giving it yet another total makeover. It is currently wearing T3/T2/arah armor in glacial teal, onset and pride, it’s just so hard to find good looking non cultural armor for charr, oponions?

Edit: On second thought I want Mass Effect style romance options for all mobs in the dungeon so I can have a love triangle between Lupi, the Jotun and myself. Then in path 2 I finally give one of them the cold shoulder and live PG13 happily ever after on a spaceship, until I get a terrible ending in path 3.

Joined a ‘level 80, speed run, zerker only’ LFM for AC. I should have known it was all a lie when the spider queen took more than a few seconds to kill, and the only might stacks were my own; despite 2 other eles and 2 warriors. When I watched 2 of them try and ice bow 4 a burrow without it dying I started looking at all the buffs.
