After a small makeover party with friends the ranger looks a bit more acceptable; the boots clip and need a better choice, and the dyes need work but it’s 3am here.
Also new bearbow meta: invisible bow wut.
I use full T3 except t2 leggings and the mask across the eye from the gem store. Mask of the wanderer?
It’s wearing T2 right now and an arah mask; if I put it in T3 I think I’ll have to give her a total makeover, she is shockingly pale currently. I think the strider armor is pretty sweet, but I just bought the incarnate armor and it might be easier to justify my umpteenth set of cultural armor than it is to buy another gemstore set so soon.
My GS totally clashes, but I have been putting off giving this toon a makeover for months because I am so indecisive.
I am in need of fashion inspiration for a norn ranger; I want to get back into playing it, however I can’t stand it being drab and flappy.
hep plz.
Great, now I feel like the scum of the earth for doing both dungeons and tpvp. Ah well.
I’m satin incarnate.
What incarnation of satin are you? A party dress? Lingerie? Shoes? Sheets?
I hope you’re sheets, summer is coming and they are totally nice when it gets hot out.
i’ll never forget him going to res me at mai trin, dumping purging flames down despite nobody having conditions and dropping wall of reflection for no reason
good times
gooooooooood times
At least your pug guard had reflects and cleanses, I just joined a pug on their 3rd fractal with both a condi guard and a healing guard, and 0 reflects between the two of them.
3 Stacks of might from FGJ = Enough
Every guard should run staff!
~This ele’s logic.
Yesterday I had an ele say that the class has no blast finishers.
1+ Ele and the rest does not matter as long everybody runs META.
Pretty much this. Properly built eles are a great backbone for a group, speed clear or not. Take a warrior for banners and whatever other classes you need for that particular path.
Avoid tanky/healing characters and condi specs like the plague, also avoid things like double mesmers and such; bring the damage and the group will be fine.
Now I really want to know what was written in that chat… You naughty boy/girl/both/unspecified/alien.
Pretty sure it had to do with posteriors.
I can`t resist the tiny mohawk, and I am still undecided about buying a t3 chest, but I really like the Scarlet`s Spaulders on asura.
Next is to fix the dyes.
In the past 50 or so fractals I might have gotten half a dozen uninfused rings, but today I totally got a clerics weapon chest; I can finally get rid of all my zerker things and be the healing guardian I was meant to be.
Spamming single target interrupts on a target about to heal could potentially be a form of abuse. Doubling the interrupt recharge on such a crucial ability is huge.
This just in: pvp is a form of abuse.
so i saved 1900 belongings. and you just REMOVED the merchants? why?
The event is over, they announced the merchants would be removed multiple times over the past 10 days or so, not their fault you didn’t spend your belongings.
I love my necro, and secretly (openly) spend so much on pretty armor sets for it despite the fact that I rarely use it because their patch notes always make me sad. I’ve been eyeing the trickster chest forever, so I just had to snag it when it went on sale today, I have to sort out it’s dyes, and find a good warhorn skin that matches though.
I’ve been playing my asuran thief a lot recently and I feel it is desperately in need of a makeover. I am absolutely terrible at asuran fashion; I like the new scarlet’s shoulders, and maybe the cultural tier two for a sort of techy look, but beyond that I am at a loss for ideas on pants/boots and helmets. I need some fashion theory crafting tips for tiny brightly coloured thieves.
P.S dyes in the picture are just generic, not what I plan on using.
I have been watching too much Black Sails lately, and wanted to perfect a pirate look for my mesmer. So far I’ve used a bunch of hair kits to try and get it right, but I’m not feeling it with the amount of clipping going on in the hair/shoulder/cravat area while the shoulders are displayed. Pictures are with and without shoulders displayed; WTB dungeon fashion advice thread.
Twilight and Incinerator
If a NA server had beaten it, Crystal Desert would definitely not have been the one to do it first.
They’ve gotten incredibly close, each wurm down to < 5% health. But currently there is a real serious attempt in an Overflow. :p Will let you know the outcome after it happens.
The worms are only phase one, and the average quality of player won’t be able to down the three heads in the two minute time limit during phase two. Most attempts seriously lack damage, much like most of the marionette attempts on Crystal desert; they were failing the first lane champ repeatedly yesterday.
If a NA server had beaten it, Crystal Desert would definitely not have been the one to do it first.
Oh is that what’s been going on?
The game is loading characters before the User can load their screen?Seems like a wonky mechanic to generalize higher content creation on. Not everyone has good internet/PC setups.
Sometimes if a particular zone is loading slowly you can hear the combat sounds and the things your character yells going on in the background.
However, I watched the lane 1 champion fail twice in a row on my server earlier today, loading slowly would totally not have done that.
By the way, I’m suprized nobody has remarked how uber it is in a crit-build. I can crit for 2K with this skill on 5 enemies over and over while moving. With the occasional 3K orb of light. Yum yum!
Just mind boggling.
Looks like he’ll run around to attack mobs, but immediately resets after.
Well he started to move again, then immediately ran back to the first beach and is standing there, totally not bugged at all.
Same thing is happening on Crystal Desert
So they’re doing pretty much what I thought. ~10% damage reduction according to them, eh could be worse.
That’s according to them, their fixes and math have been totally flawless in the past.
Heh, just loop that and read the dungeon forums.
Now I’m curious, I must know
Edit: That is priceless

As for the rest of the people in this thread, or anyone that defends speed killing… speed kill away my friends, and feed good about yourself for using every single broken mechanic/exploit in the game, another +1 Lupicus kill ftw… grind away my friends
!
What little sympathy some of the more chillax people around here might’ve felt for you will probably drop as soon as they see that cancer inducing statement about speedrunners being “exploiters” for running good builds and good rotations. I won’t be reading anymore than that, if I did, I’d probably catch AIDS too.
My favorite is how he uses WoW as an example, as if people don’t do theorycrafting for the most efficient builds to kill bosses fast/easily there as well.
I guess GW2 invented theorycrafting as well as speed running and elitism.
Alternately, you can wait for someone to come along who is actually willing to sit through the whole thing. Good luck with that.
I just listened to about 50 minutes of the video (go go insomnia) and this is what I have learned:
-Signets, signets, signets
-Tome of Wrath> Renewed Focus
-Meditation heal
-Torch
- Range damage>melee damage
-Woo burning!
-Should not play with elitist scum
-“Does most amount of DPS a guardian can put out while still surviving”
-“People don’t understand what this build is… will have a hard time playing it… will get kicked from groups until this build is popular”
Mind. Blown.
I just tried recording a video of the dagger and the spell effect is very small, smaller than the actual dagger model as a Charr necromancer. It’s pretty hard to see under normal circumstances, and harder to see when I had to turn my video settings down to record on my laptop.
The effect itself is just a very small snake that sort of swims it’s way to your target in place of the usual green and black blob, once it reaches the target it sort of curls its tail under itself and disappears in a puff of green and black spell effects; beyond that there are no other spell effects that I could tell.
Also it doesn’t work as an offhand dagger, main hand only for the DS effect.
Edit: Some of the animations as well as the idle animations for the dagger clip right through my charr’s leg, but I guess that’s no surprise with all the other clipping issues charr have.
(edited by Laar.5476)
Your projectiles in DS are replaced by tiny snakes when you have the dagger in your main hand, haven’t looked at it with offhand daggers.
I just completed it as well with no achievement updates; however I did it solo, so maybe that has some bearing on whether it registers or not.
A Zerker has a higher burst while the Condi has a higher sustain. Sustain and AOE are what I tend to value most considering how frequently I run fractals and dungeon.
Zerker necro doesnt have burst. It has sustained high single target dps and burst aoe. The burst aoe is less dps on a single target than the regular dagger rotation. Also a good player wont have any downtime on zerk necro dps in full melee.
Condi does have better sustained aoe and thats a reason to consider it for certain fractals. Everywhere else zerker is better.
They mentioned axe and staff in their talk about zerker builds so at best they might be using a 30/x/x/x/30 build and counting axe 2 and DS 4 as burst. I don’t recall them talking about dagger at all until the 30/25/0/0/15 build was mentioned by SolemnMalevolence, which apparently takes competitive fighting game type reflexes to play. If it was some kind of axe/staff build that was used it’s no wonder the DPS was low.
None of these have a significant advantage over the other to really call one the ultimate Superior build.
It’s like you’ve never played a necro.
I almost exclusively play a necromancer. I’ve tested and worked with all these builds. It all boils down to preference.
It doesn’t show at all, considering if you did your testing, and your math you would have come to the same conclusion as most theorycrafters, because y’know math.
The OP asked which is better and the simple answer is zerker, for PvE at least.
Math: Boils down to preference!
So I prefer the number 8 because it is pretty, that makes it mathematically better than all the other numbers, right?
None of these have a significant advantage over the other to really call one the ultimate Superior build.
It’s like you’ve never played a necro.
You know, like Subject Alpha in CoE, it’s pretty annoying to fight same boss on different paths, would be fun to see some difference in playkittenyle.
This idea linked in any way to this whine thread?
In a fit of boredom I decided to try out the new LFG tool and see if it was really as bad as I had heard, after aimlessly scrolling through all the dungeons to see if any of them caught my eye I came across the party listing shown in the screenshot. I didn’t join the group for fear that I would somehow be deemed inadequate.
If this is what a lot of the group listing are going to look like it’s going to be tougher (hilarious?) times ahead for pugging; HoTW P1 is hard.
I’d like an invite too, please
Guyz, I have actually done 1 vs 3 with properly geared people. Chill for god’s sake. Lol. This don’t seem to end does it?
I didn’t know GW2 had an inspect function that let you determine if someone was properly geared or not.
The more you know.
Umm,, I actually did read your post when I first got on this morning. I’m not sure Alissah, I mean I would like to join and all, but I feel the need to apologize to Pyros one more time. so here it is
@Pyros. I am sorry for annoying the heck out of you. I just want some suggestions on all of my builds is all I want.
I actually kinda think I would need the Masterful Reflection trait just cause it saved me a bunch of times when I was bein targetted by some nooby rangers
Here you go again not listening to people, Masterful reflection is a waste. Masterful Reflection didn’t save you the evasion caused by distortion saved you; maybe there is some niche use for the trait in pve fighting things like Lupicus, but the short reflect it causes is not worth it elsewhere.
Laar, I just want some feedbacks on the build. All I ever want when making some new builds is feedbacks. But that’s what I never do seem to get. I just want feedbacks instead of some kind of Life Lesson in the Mesmer forums. That is what forums are supposed to be about, a place where people can help each other, but do to my lack of adequete words in my early posts to defend myself against harrasers, you guyz are acting like I’m a total bad example that nobody should follow. You guyz have told me to be careful what I say because it might make the person you are talking to get angry. That is waht I have been trying to do. But now you guyz are not doing the things that you told me to do, which is be more nicer. Whatever do you want me to doo???
You keep saying the word feedback but I don’t think you understand what it means. Feedback is an evaluative response, it can be positive or negative depending on the material being evaluated. If the builds are bad the feedback will be bad, you have been getting feedback all along but choose to either ignore it or whine about people harassing you; negative feedback is not necessarily harassment, negative feedback means the source material is inadequate or bad (I can’t say this enough).
Here is a simple example: you write a paper for school and submit it to your teacher. The paper is poorly researched, poorly written and generally full of errors, so you get a terrible mark. That bad mark is feedback, your teacher telling you your paper is bad, the teacher is not harassing you.
This is a generalisation, but people on the internet aren’t going to sugar coat things for you, it’s painfully clear that you’re not experienced enough to understand this. All of your builds have gotten the feedback you are so desperately crying for, it just isn’t the feedback you are looking for.
I won’t repeat what others have said regarding this build in particular, but if you did serious testing, and real theory crafting instead of posting half a dozen random builds, you might get some of the positive feedback you desire.
(I know posting, but insomnia)
Christmas has come early if this is really the last build you’re posting. At first these threads and builds were hilarious because of how bad they are but each iteration is just getting sadder and sadder.
It was outlined really early on in the thread by Hexxen why this build won’t ‘handle’ condition builds at all, which you completely disregarded. The abilities you listed that would help you with conditions are poorly reasoned and were already pointed out as not effective ways to deal with a condition build. It is painfully clear that this testing you keep talking about is probably an hour or two in wvw or spvp, which can barely be called testing at all.
New mesmers coming to the forums shouldn’t be subjected to things like this when they come looking for information about the class.
So to counter condition builds, you make a build with 0 condition removal?
Teach me your ways!
The toughness from the cavalier gear will totally save him from conditions, duh.
With all the traits geared towards conditions the berserker and soldier gear has pretty much no use at all, your direct damage is going to hit like a wet noodle with that little power; If you want vitality or survivability just wait for the new dire stat combination coming Tuesday. With that trait selection you’re better off just going condition damage and/or duration; it’s not a hybrid it’s just a condition spec with poor gear choices.
2 or 3 friends doing Arah together and selling the leftover spots is perfectly fine, what annoys me is when the seller is in the group, leaves and expects the remaining (PuG) players to wait around and then take the person who bought the spot and 4 man the last boss, with no splitting of any profits.
^^ Exactly why those elitist party with " bla bla or kick" or “dont suck or kick,” ends up being the best party. They’re not kittens or anything, they’re actually quite nice more often than not. :P
I’m not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not.
I’ve been doing a ton of Arah lately, and there seem to be quite a few first timers; which isn’t a bad thing, I don’t mind showing first timers the ropes as long as they give a heads up so explanations can be given. I think people who have not looked anything up, have no idea what is going on, and just run around and die make the whole thing take far longer than if they just said ‘hey, this is my first time, any pointers?’ or something.
It seems like the ‘experienced only’ people are these kind of players, they post that in their LFM and the run turns out to be terrible and it just seems like no one knows what is going on. After a few runs like that I’ve begun to just avoid those posts, normal LFxM runs go much smoother. Lately it almost feels like joining a CoF P1 group whose LFM says: “LF1M SERK WOR OR KIK$$$$$$$P1 PHARM$$$$$$$PING$$$$$$”, you know that group is going to be the best ever.
Fluffy Bunny Hopkins?
Fluffy is a great necromancer name; Fluffy Rotmaw, Charr Necromancer Extraordinaire is totally a kitty cat to be feared. The cute first name lures them in, the beat up looking old charr face scares them off.
8/10: points for matching colours, but nightmare armour helmets look really wonky on charr character models.
