I think the booster even says it doesn’t affect consumables on the tooltip..
I find activites to be quite good for karma, at least if you get the splendid chests.
There is currently only 1 thing exclusive to crafting right now: ascended weapons
Not true. Crafting is the only reliable way of getting them, but it’s not exclusive. Ascended weapons also drop from Fractals, Tequatl and champion loot bags.
Same here after getting the camp capturer daily.
if it’s a JP style content update I will be furious I hate those things with a passion !
they shouldn’t even be in this beautiful game at all !
if I wanted to play mario I’d bring my NES out of retirement !

I don’t see the point of having “ranks” in PvE, I think levels are basically just that, and Achievement points already fill the function you’re asking for, which is showing off how much you’ve been playing the game. But I do think it would be nice with a system like the WvW “talents” in PvE. You’re saying skill points are useless right now which I don’t agree with either, but there should be more to spend it on than there is right now. Why not use Skill Points for PvE “talents” that maybe for example makes your character gather materials faster or something.
Datamining is not at all the same as a confirmation. However I would like to see those threads. Where did you see this?
Can you tell me about inscriptions? I have been able to craft them for along time now but I can’t do anything with them at all it seems! why let me craft them when they have literally no use what so ever… Also what level of crafting do I need to start getting semi decent stuff to craft for myself?
You can use them. Craft two weapon parts (e.g. sword hilt + sword whatever the other one is), then go to the Discovery tab and combine the weapon parts with the inscription, and you get a weapon.
Shouldn’t this be in the “Living World Discussion” forum? ..
…until I found out that it’s been confirmed that it’s Scarlet again.
No it hasn’t. :O
You don’t need to guest to do a dungeon with someone on another server.
Nope. Always been bought with coins. Maybe you’re thinking about cultural weapons?
Ah, there’s the problem. You can’t salvage token bought items either. At game start you could but apparently some people were farming the heck out of that so they removed it.
That’s not true. I always buy rares with my CoE tokens to salvage them.
I think Konig is right, they probably hadn’t decided what direction to go in terms of lore yet. Kind of weird that they’d spend money on such a lore-defining CGI trailer that early on if that’s the case, but hey.
The very first trailer, for the Guild Wars alpha was even worse though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydyueTjyl80
This isn’t a bug. It’s a feature. It means you’re chilled and your skills on cooldown take longer to recharge.
I also hear this noise occasionally. I used to think about it alot at launch, but I’ve become used to it nowadays..
If the “Ascalonian Staff” was bought with karma, that’s why you can’t salvage it.
In the meantime, fyi: Lunatic Inquisition counts for the daily. But yes, it should be fixed asap since we have no access to the regular activities.
ZOMG i CAN*T BELIVE NO1 THUNK OF DÄT B4
I just went to the Citizen [Southsun Survival] in LA to play the activity for the day, and when I chose “I’m ready to play!” I saw the.. Skyhammer loading screen!? I was put in a hot-join match instead of Southsun Survival.. The second time I tried I was put in Battle of Kyhlo.. What is going on? xD
I’ve had these since the first they were able to be purchased and this is the first time I’ve ever seen it happen. I haven’t changed my armor/runes/sigils on any of the equipment I had on in weeks, and it’d surely have done it before now if that was the cause.
Well, did you change a trait then maybe? I know they moved a couple of traits around for the halloween patch.. No idea if that’s the cause but still.
It is not a bug. It is how they designed and implemented the system. If you have a problem with how it’s working, this is not where to post this topic. Not saying that I don’t agree with the rest of what you’re saying though.
I think they may be looking at it as a bug. Initially I thought it was poor design, but I created this thread (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Chat-suppressed/first#post3042125) and it was moved by a moderator to the bug subforum.
There are also several other threads about this topic that could probably be merged.
Well I might have misunderstood someone here, but from what I can tell, you were saying the message suppression was unusually sensitive despite messages being spaced apart timewise and not being identical. The OP here was just saying players were posting alot of messages over and over and getting suppressed for it. Players have always, since launch, been suppressed when they’ve posted the same (or similar) thing over and over. That system exists to prevent spam, so it’s most definitely not a bug and that’s what I was responding to. I was agreeing about waypoint linking being legitimate messages as it’s how you usually play the game, especially if you’re a commander.
I really do think the system is intended by ArenaNet to work the way it does, sadly. However, if the system is more sensitive now than usual and is blocking messages even though they shouldn’t be, then it’s a bug.
This forum is for players to post suggestions for ArenaNet about their game, not for asking for advice. I believe there’s one called “Players helping players” better suited for this topic.
That said, you could always try leveling in the mad realm and the labyrinthe while it’s open. I know alot of people were gaining levels quite quickly when the Crown Pavilion was open, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the current farming area is good too.

Yeah, this happens occasionally for me aswell. I at first speculated that it had to do with when I had low health, but sometimes it worked even if I did have low health. Someone else told me it had to do with a trait/sigil/rune proc’ing (can’t remember exactly). I don’t think it has to do with the gathering tool itself though, since I believe this used to happen back when I didn’t have the gem store ones aswell.
Great suggestion. I totally agree
I don’t think a sub fee would make ArenaNet earn more money at all. F2P/B2P MMOs often earn more money than P2P MMOs, and the NCSoft earnings report have shown that GW2 is still going strong in terms of both sales and gem store.
Free access to all items on the gem store for subscribers? Really? Let me just stock up on all the items they’re selling (bank access, repair canisters, BL chests etc) and I won’t have a reason to pay the sub next month. No way that they would do this.
How are Scarlet’s invasions not lore-friendly? -.-
There’s a daily achievement for it at the moment which helps for the halloween meta-achievement..
Guys, you can join a party and do the second story instance if one party member has already completed the “grind”.. So what’s the problem? Just use the LFG tool to find such a player (although if I’m counting the achievements correctly, no player could have done that yet).
I’d like this as this little fun thing the game has, but it wouldn’t be something I would use regularly. Remember bork bork bork from gw1? You barely ever used that. But it was fun that it was there.
I do think however that ArenaNet should prioritize getting things like the cyrillic alphabet and traditional chinese into the game before doing something like this.
Many living world releases have already had PvP modes (Dragon Ball, Aspect Arena, Lunatic Inquisition etc). They really should put an NPC for them in the heart of the mists though.
Yeah, we’ve got loads of threads about this already. It’s for sure bugged.
Did you finish the daily with Keg Brawl? I was not rewarded (with the essence, karma etc.) for completing the daily with that last week.
That’s because you need to exit the activity instance before you’re rewarded. That’s how the Daily Activity Participation achievement works and has always worked regardless of which activity you’re doing.
No thanks. I think when they release new food for the level 500 chefs, we will find a use for these spare materials. Maybe we’ll actually need that bloodstone dust in the future as flour for bloodstone pies? ;P
This works as intended. No bug.
Mini’s isnt better.
Yeah, minis are way better since there are slots in the collections tab for them. Back items just end up taking up bank space when you don’t need them.
That’s what the speed booster from the gem store is for. ^^
Yes please. I lose track of the mouse way too easily which has lead to my death a number of times in PvP. Another thing that might help is to have some sort of indicator where the cursor is currently at while you’re holding down the right mouse button.
Non-skippable cutscenes in dungeons aren’t okay unless it’s the first time you see it. While replaying a dungeon it’s only an annoyance. I think ArenaNet were really clever in GW1 when they had the rule that all party members have to press the skip-button before you could skip it. You saw how many had pressed it at the top of the screen, and no names. I want to watch the cutscenes sometimes without feeling stressed, but the fact that you can skip it and see who’s still watching it, makes people get annoyed at the person who doesn’t skip. ArenaNet wants to make a good community in the game, yet they allow for this? Also, what about all that money that was thrown at voice-acting, lore and continuity and writing, and yet you allow people to just skip through it all the first time?
My suggestion: Whatever content people are playing (personal story, living world, dungeons), never allow for skipping cutscenes the first time someone watches it. The second time someone watches it, allow for skipping if all party members have pressed the button.
No. The op means blocking like holding your right mouse button down will hold your shield up kind of blocking. Not the jank block buffs. Some of the more recent mmo`s have this feature and it`s surprising that they didn`t choose to go with a system like that. I think it would have made combat more interesting instead of waiting on cooldowns with mini buffs.
I might be misunderstanding you but the skills I was referring to aren’t boons and have nothing to do with aegis.. You press the button and for 2 seconds the character uses his/her weapon to block an attack. I really don’t see a difference between that and what you’re saying. Just re-bind your keys if you want it on your mouse buttons. :S
Err, you can block. And not just passively through Aegis. -.- For instance, the mesmer scepter #2 skill and the mesmer sword #4 skill are active block skills.
“try to not be just another copy of allready existing games” – that’s a joke? Every MMO is about fantasy world with PvE, and PvP, raids and instances, events and guilds.
You’re wrong on several points here. An MMO is not per default a fantasy world. For example: Defiance, SWTOR, EVE etc. are Sci-fi games. There’s also nothing that says a game doesn’t qualify as an MMO just because it lacks either PvE or PvP. PlanetSide 2 is an MMOFPS which, to my knowledge, only consists of a world PvP mode. An MMO doesn’t have to have either instances or raids to be classified as an MMO. GW2 and GW lack raids, RuneScape didn’t have instances in its early age, some sandbox MMOs don’t have instancing at all, etc. An MMO doesn’t have to have guilds either. For the longest time, there wasn’t an in-game system for guilds/clans in RuneScape (not saying that it didn’t need it).
Please realise that an MMO is a concept much wider than WoW. They’ve existed in many forms both before and after WoW, and there’s nothing wrong with an MMO being different from the norm WoW created amongst theme-park MMORPGs.
Does GW2 really need raids? Nah, I don’t think so. I’ve never actively played an MMO that actually had raids tbh. And I’ve never felt the need for them. But would a raid be better than hardcore bossfights in the open world? Maybe. But I believe it would be better if we waited for ArenaNet to fix problems with the systems already in place that make organizing harder (like the overflow and guesting systems), and hope they give players better tools to organize while in-game (better commander/squad system and maybe even in-game voice chat for squads?) rather than put out a new game mode which takes away focus from the open world. Fixing those things might actually make the Tequatl fight playable.
Except other stories state that Jormag awoke north of the Norn and made his way down. If he awoke underneath Drakkar Lake he would have woke up right in the middle of their society.
Ree Soesbee did say that Jormag “arrived far north of the Norn” this interview: http://www.guildwarsinsider.com/guild-wars-insider-interview-ree-soesbee/5/
However, looking at the map of Tyria again, the body of water in the Far Shiverpeaks does seem to go further north in the mountains than what we can see. If the whole body of water is called Drakkar Lake now and does go further north than we can see, that means he could very well have awoken in Drakkar lake as some NPCs have been saying. But if this were to be true, the lake must have expanded before Jormag awoke.
Has it been stated that it was Jormag himself who created the new sea up there? What if it was Drakkar? We know he had some influence on the world even before Jormag awoke (Svanir), and as we’ve learned from Glint, champions don’t have to be awake as the same time as their elder dragon. If Drakkar created the sea, it would make sense naming it after him.
Same here. Won with 86 – 57 xD
That NPC only tells us that the sea is in the Shiverpeaks, not necessarily in the Far Shiverpeaks. By looking at the map, the sea that jormag created doesn’t seem to be locked on all sides by ice at all. It stretches into both Frostgorge sound (not blocked by ice in that zone, but earth and mountains) and also into the Woodland Cascades which consists of forests. The Sea of Desperation is probably further north since no other known body of water in the Shiverpeaks seems to fit the description either.
No, I believe this new “sea” created by Jormag has retained its old name of Drakkar Lake. It’s just alot bigger now. In the northwest corner of Frostgorge sound is an area called “Drakkar Spurs”, which further indicates that this is the case.

This is probably not going to be fixed since it’s not one of the supported languages. However you might be able to do something about it yourself depending on how/where GW2 is loading the fonts from.
GW2 is going to be released in China by the end of this year, so I would find it very odd if they didn’t fix this.
