What is the most effective build for sPvP?

You run runes of air with sigiles of fire or air and force on the Sword/pistol and on the swap weapon Perception is nice for the stacks or something else you like it dosn’t really matter.

Phantasm builds are kind of meh.
You have to invest a decent amount into them to get them do good dmg and be more then 1hit and even then they are crappy. Don’t get me wrong they do great dmg but they hit very slow, die very fast and tend to spawn in aoe or stand in aoe.

Probably still Shatter build. Which means Sword/pistol as your main set and what ever as you secondory set ( GS or Staff are good options) You go like 20/20/0/0/30

It’s not the pet’s responsibility to dodge from AoE. It’s your responsibility to recognize that and call your pet back. If you cannot micro, do not play ranger. Warrior or thief (noob/beginners classes) are better for you then because all you have to do is spam your basic attacks.

Did you try to tell your Pet to back? At times it just will be to slow. At other times there will be no where to come back to as you spot is getting AoEed aswell . You can dodge and “tank” the dmg that way. Your pet can’t. Dodge is more then a movment comand it is acctually invincibility. You can’t get hit. The mechanic is called Evade and it has a sister mechanic called Retreat which moves you into on direction ( pretty much a backwards dash) which does not render you invincibil. It is a an issu don’t try to act though or smart.

The gods have left the Humans. Arah has the vendors becaus it is the places most attached to the gods( first place they came into the world and stayed for a lot of time).
So it would kind not make sense to have them anywhere else. To have the same stats on another set would be nice though.

Sure. Poison can be very powerfull and has a decent dmg out put with a awesome side effect. But like confusion it is more of a PvP thing. In PvE mobs rarly heal also you can’t stack it macking it impossible to have it as you only dmg output.

World vs World: Road Swiftness Boon

It is a nice idea and would give some gameplay options. But I would say mack roades give you a 10% movment speed boost when your on them. 33% would be a bit high.

It would give roads some reasone to be there. Becaus atm the only reason they are there is for the Dolyaks.

We have 4 atm. Poisone on its own can’t really provide enough dmg to build around it. Bleed has its Cap which macks it great if you can stack it up on your own but cripples your dmg if someon on your party also applyes bleeds. Burning has good dmg and can even crit. But not a lot of classes can build around it if they can uses it at all. And lastly Confusion is way to rare and short to be effectiv in PvE but is due the comabt system super strong in PvP. This kind of cripples te build varity for classes. Atm if you go condtion dmg on most classes it is either go bleed( burn in the case of the guardian) or you have no condtion build.
The Mesmer kind of has a varity in conditons if build for that but it isn’t really good becaus of the Vulnerability it applyes ( the good ‘ol game of. " lets make it two things so we don’t have to do two weapons)

What are your thoughts? The bleed cap sure does hurt conditons builds but the lack of other options really give it the kick . Besiedes the Necro most classes are better of with a tanky or rawr dmg build.

…then I don’t think they will have any problems balancing the gw2 mesmer. It’s far far more simple by comparison.

In fact, coming from my gw1 mesmer I want more! Where are my hexes? Where are my spell stealing abilities? Where is my lethal shutdown? That said Gw2 mesmer is one of the few classes that even comes close to reaching the complexity of its gw counterpart.

Wait the manged to balance that? That is new to me . Last time I checked Panic was still OP as kitten XD

Oh. Then I would be curious to know what is the tipping point between landing with full health like the guy on the video and landing dead on arrival. Besides, I already use spectral walk regardless of the base jumping “feature”.

You use spectral walk befor you hit the ground two times in a row( about 3sec befor if you never done it). That way you will get ported to the place you have been a second ago resseting you fall hight counter

The current problem is not that we need healers or tanks or a new class.
The problem atm is very simple. The classes lack builds.

Most classes have either a very lacklustre support and DPS potential outside of a few builds. There are 5 Skill trees there should be at least room for 3 viable builds on every class. Yet most classes have one build that somewhat works in either WvW, sPvP or PvE.
The main reasons for that are bugs ( over 100 bugs on a single class is a very sad thing that pretty much all classes besides Warrior and Thieve is just a disappointment), weird Trait layouts and the lack of certain gear/ weapon options.

Let me elaborate.

Bugs should be pretty clear. If some mechanics don’t work it cripples the build. If the core mechanics don’t work the build is just bad ( Pet AI).

Trait layout isn’t that clear on the other hand. I am sure A-net put a lot of thoughts into it an tested it quit a lot but with every game the dev’s know less about building the characters then the players do.
That is just how games work.
While in theory some stuff might sound good in reality the risk(effort)/reward ratio is something they can hardly grasp because they don’t play the game the same way we do.

Also some stuff was out dated before the game was out. A short look about some classes traits clearly tells you that.

Take the Domination trait line for the Mesmer. It builds around 3 things buffing the burst for random stuff , giving shatters more secondary effects and interrupting/ CCing the enemy. Now the first to thing are nice and often taken for a shatter build and have there place, even though they are only taken because there is no better option which is something that leaves a unsatisfied feeling.
But interrupts?
The Mesmer in Gw1 was a very disruptive class and could shut down the enemy pretty hard. But in Gw2? Not only that it is very hard to see when the enemy is casting something ( either because you are moving a lot in PvP or all the effects in PvE) most of the stuff is just incredibly bad.
5 % more dmg vs inactive foes? In a game where most CC is 1 sec long?
50% chance to make a daze to a 1 sec stun ? Not only is that pretty bad for a grand master trait but also is the game not based around this any more. If you want to interrupt the enemy the daze is gone do the job the 1 sec stun won’t do you a lot. If the enemy warrior was up you kitten he still be in range for his jumps and snares after that sec. If the boss was about to wreck your kitten he will keep doing that. And that is fine as long as you balance the classes around it. To give them tools that they not only don’t need but are also incredibly weak really feels like a place holder. A way to solve this would be to re visit on class each month and clean up their Traits. If that would mean that less content is in the monthly update I would be OK with that. But leaving them like this is just bad. It should be done asap.

And lastly gear and weapons. I don’t mean by that we need better gear or a gear grind like in WoW.
What we really need is more different stat combinations on the gear. This would open up more build paths and give some builds a push to be more effective.

Weapons are the same. But still I want to add something to weapons. While we have a big amount of weapons we can use some classes lack a weapon for certain roles. The ranger has no support weapon, the Mesmer has no real AoE weapon and the melee option for engis is… do we really even count the wrench?
New weapons give classes the options to play roles they can’t play / are very bad in atm and open up groups for everyone.
Atm Guardians and eles have just soooooo much support power no one else comes even close. Others have great support options but what is the point in dropping a lot of your dmg and have less support power then say a ele how can also deal more dmg then you others don’t have realy support options at all. This doesn’t apply do dmg as much but some classes have a very limited variety of dmg options.

I understand that some of this points need a lot of thoughts to be put in and time to be made.
But honestly some of this stuff should have been done after the major changes of BW2. If you really want people to stay you need to let them play the class they want in the setting they want and this is not possible atm. Not even close.

This is the state of the game for me atm. It really sounds very grim but that is mostly because I only focused on the things done wrong. There are still a lot of things A-net did right and really well ( D/D Ele, the range options on Thive and Warrior , Mesmer melee burst etc) but this makes the lack of this thing just stand out even more. If you have to choose a class based on what you want to do in a game that claims to do the opposite it needs work.

They try to balance dmg, reward and risk. If we would be real no one should be able to stop an ele once he hit you. Either you are frozen, shocked, on fire or got hiten with a rock in the face. I dunno about you but most ppl would die or be srsly hurt form that XD

ehm… sry…. but are you stupied?

Srsly if you think the Necro does no dmg, support or surviviblity you play the clas very wrong. There are a lot of great tutorials out there you should read them. If you want a class so mash all keys to kill the enemy with no brain the warrior would be the way to go.

State of the Ranger in Endgame content

So I am leveling my Ranger atm and wanted to know what his state in stuff like dungones etc is. My pet seems to end up pretty dead when I try to do bigger events or fight enemys with AoE spamming F3 on the wind-up of AoE helps but still besides the bear everything seems to just melt. Does this carry over into dungones? Or do Rangers get some nice utlity/ dmg output done in dungones?

I like how the camps are split with the thiefes on the one side being like " I don’t want to be part of a discussion" and the other side " sounds like a decent idea but you need to work on it"

Let me take statment on the later camp. The idea to change stealth to something that is not a 100% invisibility is nice. But the turn everything dark idea will just not work out in a open world game like GW2. But there need to be a change done becaus AoE as a counter mechanic does not work. Unless the thief is stupied and stands still after he goes in stealth you won’t hit him most of the time.

So what can you do about it. Well one option would be to make stealth gain visibility either over time or distance to enemy. Over time is pretty obvious. If you stay X amount in stealth you will be visibile for 90% after X more sec you are visible to 80% etc. A system like could work but with most of the stealth being only around 3 long it would not really make sense.

The fade on distance how ever could be the way to go.
First of all let me set it clear the fade in rage would be very small maybe double the melee range of a great sword (220 or so ) and even then you would be only like you a shadowly figure to the enemy.

All the fractals share one big map ( sort of like the fariy fountains in OoT if that saysw anything to you) and by going out of bounds you enter this map. You entered it on the very edge and could swim belwo everything. There used to be an bug/glitch where you could fall in the Cliffside Fractal where you could fall of that map to this map and revive with a revive orb and roam around there.

So basically, if you never played GW, you shouldn’t be allowed to earn a Legendary?

Why not make it so when you got a Legendary, the skin is unlocked for all of your characters?

Pow. No-one is excluded.

A-net already stated will be accesseble to all again in the future. Atm it is just a ruin. There is nothing to see or get besieds the stuff you get in Gw1. But if the playes “revieves” and becomes the social Hub it was back in time you could use it to a similar way like it was used in Gw1 as a instance to show of all the weapons, armour, minipets and stuff. To put an NPC in ther how then hands you the skin would not be a big deal.

The Hall of the Monument. Yes I know it is in the game but it isn’t the same. To enter the Eye of the North and go into the Hall and see what you have achived is just a great feel.

The cutscene. I don’t get why you don’t render them ingame like they did in Gw1. You are in an instance for most of the stuff. If they don’t do it for the once in the open world it would be fine.

If in fire attument: Fire Wall: Send a fire wall at you enemy. It will pas trough enemy. Enemy it pass throug burn. 900 range.
Water spring: You shoot out a bouncing wave of water. Enemys hit get dmg allys gain Vigro and regenration. 900 range.
If in water attument: Tidel Wave: You summone a big wave of water allys it pass through get healed and gain Vigro and regeneration. Enemys hit by the wave take dmg and get crippled for 1 sec. 1200 range.
Charged Air: You shoot out a chraged cloud. Causing Vulnerability and Weakness. 900 range.
In air attument: Invoke Lightning: You dmg up to 3 near by fos and cause Vulnerability and Weakness. If the enemy the enemy stands close enough together the lightning jumps over causing 50% of the dmg again and applying Vulnerability. 900 range. 200 jump range.
Boulder Smash: You throw a boulder an enemy dazing them and dealing dmg. 900 range.
In earth attument: Obsidian Flame: You dmg the enemy and cause bleeding and Vulnerarbility. 900
-Ability Type : Transform
-Cast time: 1/2 for the first cast. Abilitys have 1/4 cast time. Abilitys in Attument have 1/2 cast time.
-Cooldown 90 sec. for the transfrom. Abilitys are non CD if non the attunet version. The Attunt version have 4 sec CD.

Immobilized is a condition and it gets cleansed when using cleansing flame and overpowered by stability when using armour of earth. Mistfrom and Lighningflash have no such secondary effect and only breaks stuns and dazes.

well the issue is nobody supports better than the guardian, and the Mesmer is one of the other elite supports to have because of Timewarp and other shennanigans.

if you’ve truly got bored of both, i would suggest the Elementalist as they can fill many supportive roles.

So many people say that about Mesmer but it’s really not that great. Sure timewarp, Feedback, and Null field are great but the cooldowns are far too long compared to how long the spells stay active.

This sums up why I got bored with my Mesmer in dungones. 10 of super buffs and effects. 45 sec of spamming 1with some clones and shatters becaus else you will never use them.

New with Necro GW1 MM > GW2 MM?

To me the Neco pets seem as stupied as the ones in GW1. But unlike in GW1 you have to give up a skill slot for every minion you mack. In GW1 you could pack in 1 maybe 2 summon spells and still get a decent amount of Minions out depending on your death magic. It had that nice personal army feel with it becaus of the pure amount you could bring. One or two of them spasing out or doing stupied kitten did not really effect something as you had more then enough ( even more when the hero limited was raised to 8 and ppl multiple necros in there party for PvE). Now in Gw2 the best you can get is haveing 7 minions out at the time. With the incredbly bad Jagged Horror and Bone Minion. If you count usfull minions the max you can get is 5.

Another factor that and problem besides the AI is that the minions scale with nothing. Meaning if youskill fully into them that you still have to to eiter condition dmg or raw dmg to do something. Nerfing your overall DPS compared to pure and hybrid builds.

Why? Becaus of publishers. As far as I know no big MMO comapny is run by themself anymore. Be it A-net, Riot Games or Blizzard. All are in the hand of some other compeny. And while the devs might want to give us the best experince we can have and enjoy the game. Those jerks are only looking at the raw money they can press out of the games. For them games are only worth the money the can mack with them.
A-net can’t do much but play along. After all they want there game to be released and so do we. The best each player can do is to not buy the Dye packs or what ever he does not like and show that they dislike it one in a while with a ticket to the support or a post in a thread like this.

Does Swiftness stack with Signets?

So I recently pulled my Necro and Ele out again. Both got the the buff to their movment speed Signets macking it very noticeble when you use them. But when I am on my ele and use the signet and use swiftness on top of it it dosn’t seem to have any effect. It this intentional or a bug?

Also I ran some test and it seems that swiftness is actually slower then the signets. Which is weirde. After all swiftness is supposed to give 33% movmentspeed increase and the signets only 25%.

Dude it is the mists. The mists are the other side. But unlike being just haven there is the memory of everything ever existed. The big dude is the real giant. They wher extinged long befor Gw1 started as you play the fractle you see why.

I have a level 80 Guardian and Mesmer and I run dungones with both. While the guardian is really strong I kind of lost the fun playing him ( there are way to many guardians and warriors) and the Mesmer is ok in dungones but not great I alwayse feel lacking on something on him.

I tried looking through the class froums to see what class could fit my needs but they pretty much all agree that there classes suck and the others are better.

So I ask you. Which class brings a decent amount of support and dmg in a group … besieds the guardian.

You know what is funny. Was looking some froums today to see which class I might pick up to do the general PvE and a bit WvW with it. I looked up Necro, Ranger , Ele and Engi and in all froums there is at least on thread like this claming the other classes do way better others. I can only judge for the Mesmer and Guardian. The Guardian sure is the King of PvE atm

So I am thinking about picking up a Engi. I already know how he is in PvP and WvW because I saw some videos and guids But I can’t really find something to PvE content like Dungones and the FotM. I also rarly see a Engi in my Pugs and there is no good PvE engi in my guild most of them focus on PvP. Besides on Engi who played some what a kitten up bot I didn’t really see any diffrence to say a Ranger.

First of all the staff is all AoE and you just as said Aoe is bad O.o

Also the basiv attack (1) is 600 and only the AoE orb and the Field are 1200 range

I am a guardian. I can’t do that the others in my group where another guardian, a thife and a warrior and a necro. Would be a sham if a group like that could not kill the boss becaus 3 of them don’t have 1200 range atks.

So I went into TA today with a randome group. And up the the last boss went pretty normal we killed most boss quite fast. Then at the endboss there was already a bunch of spiders around him. The normal happend the NPC ran up to him and got consumed and even more spieder spawned. We where lik ok what ever and pulled some spieder and killed them but every time we killed a big black one a new one spawned. THe boss healed up everytime as we had to pull back to not die or got wiped.

I didn’t do the dungone in quite some time but I dp remember that you hat some breathing room between the spieders spawning. Any tips how to handle the amount of spieders?

The change was better at least for me. Didn’t see all my team mates if I was in a big zerg but enough to know where to place my heals and stuff and I could see the enemy 90% of the time even in big zerg clashes. The only time I saw enemys disapper or invisible enemys hitting me was in a hugh 3 way zerg clash in stonemist castle.

With the change back it really puts me of as I get caught way more offen by invisibel stuff again.

I mean the idea is nice but to mack just a flying square is just lame.

Every other race got something better then we did and we pretty much never get something. Is mackes me sad how a-net seems to care the least about us.

Armour? Why a own armour look for Asura? They can all have the male human one.

Weapons? No need to make them look good on Asura, just scale them down so no one can see them.

I start to belive that A-net does not really care about the Asura. No other Race has so little and that what they have is so buggy.

For me it is just sad. Even worser that A-net avoids the hole topic like the F-bomb.

After dead we saw they where 3 times as much as we had seen.

Idea for a new elite skill...

I would like to see a skill called “The Glow” on the Ele.

What it does ? Pretty simple you enter a state of high cocnration and gaina skillbar with 5 skills ( one for each element and one for arcane) by switching you atument you switch the power of the skills. E.g. in fire all spells are offensiv, in water they are more defensiv, in are they are utility based and in earth they focus on condtions.

You also gain glowing eyes during the elit skill. Maybe some fancy effects based on te attument.
