Still in the process of collecting, very few have been added from outside sources (people other than me) :

I like that one in the very top right. Is that male?

Also, I take back my previous post. I don’t have a white tiger. I thought he was when I first made him (my first character but I had been playing Asura and 1 Sylvari). My Charr is actually a pale yellow with orange/brownish tiger stripes and a blond mane.

I guess I’m not in the club then

I read most of the OP but I will have to disagree.

Yes, the system is abusable and it’s a shame when you’re a victim of this (and I have been a victim of this a few times myself) but there is no safeguard for playing with jerks. Your best bet is to simply avoid them. Blacklist them, report them, what have you. But making the kick system more cumbersome is just that: cumbersome.

Some instances where you just want to get the job done:
-Party member entered the wrong dungeon mode and now the party is locked in that mode. “Oh, let me just log out and see if that fixes it”. Quickly kicking the player, entering the proper mode and reinviting. Simple, easy and doesn’t require the entire team to coordinate the whole thing.
-Just finished a path and 3 of the guys just decided to do another path. The other 2 ended up logging before that and are still in the party.

Now I PuG for everything and I love running dungeons. What you need to do is:
a. Be a pleasant person. When you are, other people react and may remember you, and run with you again.
b. Friend the nice ones you meet.
c. Blacklist the jerks that caused you or your party grief (or not, depends on how jerky they were)

Yes, you’re going to eventually run into jerks that abuse the system and ruin everything. But hey, the ‘system’ is probably more likely to bug and either get your run stuck/screwed up causing you to have to restart vs some jerk that wants to kick you for fun.

Until it becomes such an epidemic that forces the dev’s hand, I wouldn’t want the system to be more clunky than it already is. Sometimes you just have to work with what you’ve got.

Now I will suggest one thing though: when you’re kicked from a group, the team chat is completely gone. If there’s an option to this, I don’t know of it. But it makes it harder to address these griefers when you can’t remember their exact name because chat is gone. This may be a feature to stop the kickee from harassing the kicker but it also protects the kicker if they are abusing the system. I think this should just go away. If you’re the kicker and the kickee is whispering curses to you, you can do the same and blacklist them/report them if you have to.

Would people be mad that their tier 3 coat is suddenly only a chest piece? Yeah. Would they be prissy about having to shell out more gold for the parts they probably skimped on? You bet. But would that be balanced in knowing they can wear those gloves with whatever other armor they want? That’s the question.

And I’m thinking the golemancer arm just might be a glove piece like you said. Since there are coats with bigger sleeves that conceal gloves, this would probably end up being one of them, namely due to clipping. BUT THAT’S FINE! Lots of gloves act the same way.

Personally, I’d prefer not to have tier 4 armor for this namely because it’ll probably be even more expensive and you still have to make a set for heavy and medium and 3 more for every other race which is probably a ton more work than just modifying what we have.

I think it’s possible this could change. The devs are always looking for armor errors to fix (currently wearing SE light chest plate and there’s some weird wrap on the left arm that isn’t attached but is instead floating off the arm…I’m sure someone reported it already…) so it’s not completely out of reach to have this changed.

Personally, I just want the 1-bare-arm chest piece because I like contrasting the armor color and skin color to make a nicer collaborative look…and putting skin in between pieces hides the fact that you’re using different armor set pieces….that and the collar just looks cool. I don’t really like the arm that much but it’s just I haven’t (and currently can’t) formed a look around it with it affixed to that coat like that.

Cultural tier 3 light armor for those unfamiliar with the thread title.

I was just toying around with some more armor pieces for my elementalist and I like the coat…but the thing I dislike about it is how un-combo friendly it is. To further explain, Link:

http://www.gw2armor.com/asura/female/c3/light/front.jpg

The coat is pretty much the entire look (technically, the coat, the pants and the helm) while the gloves and shoulders (and boots) are practically hidden. But it’s not like it’s not showing anything there, just that the coat integrates that look. You can’t mix any variety of shoulder or gloves with it because they will be covered.

What would you guys say about this?

-Break the coat up. Have the collar part = the shoulders.

-The chest will be the tight cross-pattern jacket with the right sleeve missing and the left sleeve down to near the forearm (or whatever).

-The gloves would be the golemancer right + wrist bracer left.

—Alternatively, the shoulders could be the golemancer right to cut down on clipping with various shoulder armors and the gloves could be double wrist bracers (the right being covered when wearing the golemancer shoulder armor.

I ask because, I would love to mix that collar with some other armor or perhaps that golemancer arm and I certainly like the ‘one bare arm’ jacket which could definitely be nice especially mixed with the cultural tier 2 shoulders.

PS: I understand you can’t just ‘break it up’ as the coat is coded as 1 piece of armor. It would require a good deal of work to do and test it against various armor combinations to assure it looks good. I’m making this topic mainly to ask if the asuras of the game would be miffed if the devs did that because now you’d have to shell out gold for more than just the coat (you can forget about the shoulders, gloves and boots, currently and the helm is dependent on your desired look)

So, is the a point in 2xAxe when GS exists?

I never found Greatsword to be all that good unless you traited for it. Without Forceful Greatsword, I’d probably say it and axes are on the same level with the alternatives of GS having an evade + a mobile charge vs Axe having larger AoE + a good burst skill.

If you start bringing in traits, it muddies up the comparison because then you’re getting into build specifics. Seeing some sick videos of Warriors using the various weapons, each has its own flavor and advantages when you seek them out.

With GS, it’s the synergy of mobility and might on crits is just crazy (why is GS the only weapon with some crazy damage buff like that?). With Axes, it can hit fast and a lot of targets so using on-crit effects (the main one being omnomberry pies) you can easily heal 1.5k+ health while dealing a large chunk of damage if you’re hitting enough targets.

Beyond that, Charr look dumb doing hundred blades but they probably look the best using Whirl attack.

Ranking in dungeons

Leo G.4501

I like it.

That is, I don’t mind doing speed runs but I play dungeons to play. Often times, I only have a period of time to play the game and when I choose to do dungeons, I’m not looking to get it over with ASAP…because then I have to cut the game off.

That said, an option of some kind to not be ranked on your performance would be good too (or maybe a button at the end that flashes and when you push it will show your score. Because sometimes it’s not your fault what the other teammates do…you might even have ranking completely disabled if not enough of the dungeon was complete.

The metrics for it might be better as averages like rather than grading your DPS, something like the ratio of damage dealt vs received could award some points (you should always be trying to get some damage off while keeping an eye on the mob so you can keep yourself safe). Times downed/dead could be calculated by the total downs/deaths of the party in that, so long as you don’t exceed a quarter of the total amount. But while you could still get the max points if you die a few times, there’d be points for aiding in rallies/revives.

For style, calculate the number of dodges vs the number that actually evade an attack in combat. Could be a stylish counter score for interrupting special boss attacks too.

Basically, reward you for doing the things you’re suppose to be doing in a dungeon but have a mean average so it’s not as closely reliant on the quality of gear but the quality of your performance.

I think the BIGGEST plus to such a system would be seeing a tally of your results at the end. You see that your dodge/evade ration was down and your damage dealt/received score was still bad means you need to work on dodging the big blows properly. If your damage dealt/received is high but the rally/revive score wasn’t good might just mean you could have helped support the team more.

But what are the rewards for such a system? If I were dreaming, I’d want some party-wide buffs and perks while in dungeons that you can use in future runs. Getting rank gives points that you can later cash in for a party-wide magic find bonus. Magic keys that you can use to unlock vendors inside of a dungeon and/or chests to increase the yield of chests while inside that instance. Maybe even a practice mode where the entire dungeon is empty except for the bosses and you get a chance to fight them for no reward (except xp and gold).

Now that is an idea, move GoR to the elite slot…but what do you do with the hole in the utilities? I guess you could swap it with Glyph of Elementals from the elite slot but that kind of makes it redundant with lesser elemental glyph.

As for the needing to start in a certain attunement to get the proper effects, I started to realize that after playing with it some more. I wonder if they could change this. It’s the only glyph that does that and I don’t know why.

So add that onto the list of “What needs to be fixed with GoR”.

The giver weapons are pretty slick though. Coupled with food and a few points in the right trait line and you can extend your condition duration to 60-80% without needing specialized armor or runes.

But I think the givers armor set could use a buff, around about as much % boon as crit gets but maybe 1-2% less. 1% boon duration is too weak to bother, IMO.

But a cool dream stat I’d like to see is +% Endurance recovery. With a full set, I think it should push about 20% Endurance recovery, maybe 25% with Exotics. I’d actually sooner see a Vit/Tough/Endurance set before I could see Vit/Tough/Heal if only because the healing seems redundant (namely weak) if it’s not the major stat to which you’d probably get better overall results mixing Knights/Soldiers and Valkyrie/Cleric depending on your healing needs.

I said “to a certain extent” for a reason. Most people clearly don’t want a copy of themselves because many males play as females and various other things that they clearly aren’t. If 90% of gw2 players were black, most of the human females you saw would be black instead of white. If people want a character that isn’t going to look much or anything like them, giving it whatever features they can that more closely match their own should still be expected.

Besides, it is within the realm of possibility that people make their clone, but they still want different races and looks.

That’s a whole other cup of tea :P

If most of the players were black, you may find a lot of the female humans looking Hispanic with tanner skin maybe :P

But I made my charr a white tiger with gold hair because his name describes him as such. Why’d I choose that? Dunno. I just did. But if I were to remake his look, I think I might try something else. Rytlock’s look reminds me of red velvet cake…probably because I hate cream cheese so use dark chocolate frosting. If no one has a name for that type of cake, they should name it after Rytlock :P

There is no tanking in this game. Theres control, but no tanking. Guardians cannot sit and soak up 100% of the damage from all the mobs all of the time, warriors cannot do it either.

what is this tanking?

Oh ho ho ho on the contrariety warriors specced correctly can very much tank for 11 seconds straight without taking any physical damage while standing still and drinking tea.

Must be some pretty cold tea…

Cold tea meaning that 11 seconds is probably scarred with a long cooldown until you can do it again so is rather insignificant and if the boss catches you before that cooldown, you’d better have some vigor…in which case, it probably would have been beter to skip the specialized ‘tank for 11 sec’ build and just get the vigor and dodge more instead.

No, the skill is fine in theory. They should simply fix the bugs, streamline the ranges, and maybe tone down the high casting time for 1 second or something.

That’s basically my post slimmed down a couple sentences. Now that I think about it, if the cast was super fast, I probably wouldn’t be as gripey when the skill failed due to my own folly (like miscalculating the range or whatever bug works off teleporting/terrain).

They should rework the skill in its entirety. At the moment, it’s just newbie bait…once they finally learn how it works, they ditch it like the rest of us.

Well, I’m not a newbie :P

The way my brain works, I try to find the use in everything I can. And the devs put this ability in the game so they must have thought it could be of some use. It’s sort of how I came across scepter on my elementalist. From 1-60ish I used mainly a dagger and occasionally a staff. I tried scepter or focus while leveling up but they were just ‘crap’ and ‘weak’. After I got to 80 though, I was determined to see the use in these weapons and forced myself to use only scepter/focus. Now I just can’t go without one or the other and some of the times both.

I’ve went through all the utilities (barring Racials) except Glyph of Elemental Power and the Signets and found decent use for (yes, even the conjures work nice (could probably work better if traited) usually paired with a field heavy weapon/team mates…I take that back, I’m still crummy with the earth shield)…all except GoR. You have to force that thing to be useful.

Now that I didn’t know (namely the rezzing all the way to full).

But again, just did another dungeon run and alot of them were newbs so got a chance to really exercise this skill. Air renewal teleported only some of the time, water renewal never healed to full and earth rez…well, when the Howling King got the chance to knock out 3+ of my team, I managed to get them all up but they promptly downed again due to the confusion (dang n00bs :P) except one time where one of them was barely out of range so only got 2.

I’m starting to get a feel for this skill but it is still VEEEEERY klunky. And the perks for managing to use it are not worth it…I feel like a boss just managing to use it at all but that just doesn’t justify a spot on your utility bar even for boss fights.

Some more thoughts:
-Maybe Renewal should cleanse all conditions with any attunement as well.
-Healing downed allies to full regardless of attunement.
-Give Water the power to rez the dead (PvE only) and/or heal you to full when used.

But beyond that, the skill is rather pointless if your team is any good. Downs are at a minimum and usually the others are on it so quick, allies get rezzed before you can finish the skill cast (or so close, there was no purpose to even try). All in all, the skill either needs some fail-safe features to prevent you from wasting it or just perks to use it even if it failed to rez.

I’m a dungeon crawler mainly. While I do occasionally run around in WvW, I tend to stick with PvE and…this skill….why is it so horribly bad!? I’m mainly giving it the old college try mainly because I like the concept of glyphs and when you run with a scepter and/or focus, you have room to use whatever utilities you want. Anyway…

GoR was never a good skill, even when it could rez dead allies rather than downed ones, but there is just so much wrong with this skill. There are just very few instances this skill is usable and the instances it is, it’s so wonky, you might end up messing up.

-Special effects-
They don’t work. I’ve managed to time my glyph use on a downed warrior a few times and swapped to water and he wasn’t rezzed with full HP (not even half). I’ve managed to use it on a necromancer in my group that was in a death field and swapped to air. It only rezzed him and didn’t pull him to me. I never even bothered to try fire because I’m not going to plan to rez someone and have myself go down within 15sec i.e. I’ve never been able to get the fire effect to proc and test.

-Ranges-
Why are they variable!?! I didn’t even realize the different elemental versions had different ranges until sat and researched it specifically. The reason I couldn’t rez 2 at a time with earth is because the downed allies weren’t within 600 units from each other.

-Targeting-
I keep auto-targetting on namely because PvE is rather hecktic and I’m often busy repointing my camera to do it manually but…I guess this doesn’t auto-target or doesn’t work if the ally is behind you because on a few instances, I used it while kiting (within range) and the power just fails to do anything.

So what are your experiences with this skill? Yeah, it’s not a good skill so not using it is probably a common answer, but perhaps you can explain why some of my follies happened with your knowledge.

As for improving this skill, I suggest the following:

1. This needs a targeting update. If there is no ally in range, it should not be able to activate or it should ‘fizzle’ and go into a quick-cooldown (like if it were interrupted).

2. Fire…perhaps a better effect for it? Or a bit of an extension on its effect? I guess, if you realize you’re going down, you can simply cast it for yourself but frankly, I don’t equip this skill for a self-rez.

3. Normalize the ranges. Just make them all 900 range or better yet 1200 range.

4. The cast time. I don’t like how slow it is (nobody does). But I can live with it. You can say the purpose for the long cast is for the strength of its effects (20sec self-revive[fire], full HP for self and rezzed ally[water], a working teleport even while ally is alive[air], rez 4 allies (instead of 3, mainly because you run in a group of 5, not 4 so you don’t have to choose who doesn’t get to live) and grant stability to allies and self for 8sec[earth])…either strong effects for its cast time or keep the ones we have with a shorter cast.

5. Animation. I like glyphs…makes my little elementalist feel like a ninja or something. But the look of the animation is boring. -wave hand up for 2 second- -glyph finally appears- -press the button 1 sec later-. The glyph should ‘draw’ itself as you’re casting it until it’s ‘fully materialized’ and then push the button. And the glyph should be somewhat bigger or have a flashier elemental partical effect or something.

One simple adjustment. Allow the stacking of tools to 250 like everything else and allow you to add to a diminished stack. IE You have 10 left so you buy 200 and stack em to 210

An addition to that: Remove the various types of gathering tools and simply make gathering kits. I.e. you don’t need an axe, sickle and pick, just a kit for everything. Copper gatherer kits, steel gatherer kits, darksteel gatherer kits, etc.

Would be kind of neat to have legendary gatherer kits to aim for that’d would basically be permanent but for the different type of nodes. I.e. a legendary pick axe, a legendary sickle and a legendary axe. Of course that would be a gold-sink in and of itself but it might be a fun side project for the crafters/gatherers out there.

Leo G.4501

If I could, basically, pick out the bad attunements and stick with only the strong, that could upset balance and require skills to be nerfed. For instance, Air in staff is pretty weak, water in dagger and focus is pretty weak, earth scepter is pretty slow, etc. If you wanted the best of water, you probably go scepter/dagger and staff, the best out of fire same thing, the best out of earth dagger or focus, the best out of air same thing.

That is a matter of ANet balancing the skills, not a problem with the idea itself.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s your subjective opinion that they are weak, not necessarily the attunement itself.

Which only reinforces my idea for specializing. Choosing attunements that suit you over ones that don’t. Some people prefer DPS and defensive power of fire and earth over the Supportive strengths of Water or CC/Mobility of Air.

Please don’t make assumptions like “it would ruin balance”, or “it conflicts with how things are now”. That’s all determined by ANet’s decisions, not the current status-quo.

I’m not really making assumptions.

Another part of how the weapons themselves are balanced is combo fields/finishers. Notice that Staff has all the combo fields while the others tend to lack the fields but have the combos.

That’s another form of balance that would be upset if they just added weapon swapping.

If you’re going to accuse others of making baseless assumptions, then don’t go being a hypocrite and making assumptions like ‘there is nothing wrong with my idea’.

Several things already pointed out about your idea that you haven’t addressed:

-It is very user-unfriendly. What will the UI look like on that? Elementalist is already a very involved and complex class and these changes will just make the class all the more confusing.

-People already work around the current system by just manually swapping their elementalist’s weapons. What makes your idea so novel that anet should have to rebalance the entire class for your thematic desire to focus on a particular element? If not, what’s stopping someone from just swapping secondary/primary elements out of combat?

-And of course the balance/combo fields/finishers, since it’s obvious the devs balanced the weapons as a set of skills vs piecewise and this does give you a means of piecing parts of the whole set for better effect. Elementalists don’t really need to be better than they are, they seem about right.

I think there’s a lot of nice ideas and good points made in the thread…

I like the OP’s idea as it would make varied builds alot wider vs the current stale fare we have now… I’m even getting bored of my own elementalist because there’s only 4 weapons and the attunements feel like they’re sprinkled with intentionally weak skills to balance out the good ones making certain attunements on certain weapons weaker to achive artificial balance.

And this is why I don’t think the idea the OP posted will work out despite how varied you can build your elementalist.

“This is where I hope perhaps we’ll see some form of heroic professions at max level – don’t increase levels forever but instead off horizontal progression where perhaps an Elementalist could choose a path of specialization into a Storm-Singer (Water & Air) etc etc…”

I like this idea. Incorporated into the OP, you could possibly make a ‘specialized profession’ out of the elementalist in using the idea of multi-weapons but over 2 attunements. But again, I say if you make it an extension to another profession, it can circumvent abuse like going to your hero panel and swapping your second elements around out of combat (that’s for the generalized elementalist, not someone specialized). And in doing that, you can also rebalance skills and traits to compensate for the change.

For instance, if you choose to advance your elementalist down the path of air, you have to be level 80, have 30 pt in Air and choose to have your elementalist focus on it. Then choose another element (you don’t need points in it) which will remove the other two element’s trait lines. This will leave those two trait lines open (keeping 30pts locked in Air) while leaving you 40pts to distribute to your secondary element, arcane and 2 new trait lines that work as combinations of those two elements (look to the chinese set of elements for these).

I actually like the idea of specialized professions if done right, they could feel like whole new classes but still have its roots in the base profession, giving up some of the versatility for, what might amount to, more lore/aesthetic/thematic differences.

Mine is a warrior named Leapp. Rather fitting I’d say with what hundred blades and half the hammer skills make him do. :P

Hmm, not sure what to say about this name. Cutting out the criticism and just talking about the character, I think it’s a cute name, descriptive and fits Asura standard format.

I’ve got two:
-Male warrior Dakkx. I wanted Dekks or Dekxx because the way it’s pronounced and his use of a hammer, he’ll deck you before you see him coming, but those names are taken. His name is pronounced ‘Daaks’ but some humans and norn pronounce it ‘Daa-kiks’ or ‘Daa-kuks’.

-Male elementalist Vurza Skye. Perhaps a bit feminine, but he’s not particularly a masculine type, if you get my drift. He himself adopted the second name ‘Skye’ because of his fondness of the atmosphere and its elements (of course, his first invention was a weather controlling device). Instead of taking a scientific title to encapsulate his infatuation, he took a more eccentric route (because he is an eccentric Asura).

This is probably the best progress that’s been made in this thread besides the bickering and bashing. Give it a 20 second recharge, lower the damage reduction to 50% , and decrease movement speed by 33% for the duration.

That’s just stupid and dumb and is basically punishing you for taking a trait. Why would I take a trait that will make me slower and probably not save me when I’ve taken heavy damage?!?

Why don’t we just make Endure Pain a 30sec cooldown, reduce damage by 50% but you cannot move or attack for 15sec after activating it…and if you’re still alive after that 15sec it puts you in down state.

Just eat your +downed HP food and you’ll be alright…

Been Trying Out Various Builds I've Seen

Have you tried a Shield?

I find the combo very fun and looks kittening awesome. I tried wielding various offhands, but one thing I hate is, rarely do you actually use the offhand animation-wise. It just gets on my nerves swinging a mace around while your other arm doesn’t do anything when logically, you’d integrate both weapons into your attack pattern

Shield doesn’t have that problem. It’s there, on your arm and when you pick it up, it does its job.

But yeah, I keep a variety of weapons; a sword, a shield, a hammer, a greatsword, a rifle and a bow (just got an axe exotic but haven’t played with it much). With my build, I can swap the traits on everything but the axe.

When I go sword, I go shield and when I go sword/shield, I like to go bow so I use sword master (10% crit = more bleeds), shield master (+toughness with shield and faster cooldowns) missile deflection (shield now reflects projectiles and blocks everything for 3sec) and strong bowstrings (for projectile finishers). It feels pretty tanky and the combo comes with a fire shield (sword leap or shield leap into your longbow fire field). In PvE, since I’m Asura, I have radiation field, so I can apply weakness with my leaps too or poison with my bow. It’s a combo defense/offense utility…I tried off-hand sword while I was leveling but I just don’t care for it. Shield is just too useful, either deflecting strong shots back, leaping into fields, or being that extra line of defense in a boss chain of attacks.

I think it would be imbalanced because it does not fit into the profession.

I think it fits the profession perfectly, especially if it was seamed into the Defense trait line as a Grandmaster trait. Take Spiked Armor, swap it with Sure Footed’s place, reshape Sure Footed to “Stances grant Protection (3sec, except Frenzy which grants 3sec of protection after a 4sec delay).”

Badda bing badda boom, now we can make a ‘Stance build’ just like we can make a ‘Shouts/Banner build’. But also, ask yourself, how much sense does it make that a Banner helps you heal from deadly gashes and fireballs to the face, of someone shouting at you doing doing the same? This idea actually makes sense.

If you wanted both shouts and banner build, you’d end up with a ‘bunker’ build, having either regen banners or healing shouts + protection with stances (of course, you can’t have all of that…you only have 3 utility slots and an elite banner). And just like a bunker, your damage will suffer without traits like +% damage with axe, might on crits with GS, etc. The best you could do is 10% dmg on burning targets with longbow, 25% dmg on CC’ed foes with a hammer or 15% to weakened foes with a mace (5% for all other weapons). None of those weapons are the bees knees for DPS anyway, so it works out. The bunker would have regen or heals (can’t be both) + protection and likely Mending and 10 in Strength so they can purge conditions (2 with Mending + cripple/chill/weakness/immobilize + traited warhorn, most likely using +protection duration runes instead of soldiers). All in all, it wouldn’t have the healing and boons of other bunkers but having an (IMO) better advantage in mobility (if they used a sword somewhere).

And logically, it’s just not good to dive into crazy stuff like that without the option of having protection rather than expecting your buddies to bring it for you…I’m sure the lady warriors out there would say it’s the only smart choice ;P

Human children sometimes are born with cone-shaped heads since their head is so soft, it deforms during the birthing process.

Since Asura have such strong brains, maybe their heads are really ‘gummy’ so they can deform more at that stage. Furthermore, Asura may even have developed ‘baby helmets’ to help reform the shape of the baby’s head to something more attractive as they develop in the first few weeks.

I think it’d help a lot if the options of the PVP locker were there while you’re creating your character initially. So far, I’ve been using the create + check + delete method after messing up my first two characters. This will help decide a look and how it coordinates with skin color, hair, etc.

Honestly? I’m hoping they scrap the trait for something better. 1 extra sec on Endure pain or Frenzy? 2 on Balanced Stance?

How about Stances grant Protection?

Think about the advertisements before the game’s release. I don’t recall ever seeing Trahearne in any of them, yet Destiny’s Edge was everywhere. I get into the game, and the only time I see any of them is once when they talk about their falling out, quite randomly I might add, and oddly close to level 30 to just be a coincidence. (anyone think that the devs might have originally planned for them to be the focus instead and got scrapped by idiotic ceos?) Then, you see them sporadically in story dungeons, but only two or three at a time, and then dead on the bow of the zhaitan slayer ship, and suddenly alive again and all happy together at fort trinity with the pale tree singing in the background. I can’t help but feel that their story would have made for so much more player enjoyment.

My guess? You’re probably not far off thinking the main heroes we’re meant to follow in the game is Destiny’s Edge. Where I think you’re wrong is in assuming they should be the focus of the main story now.

Remember, this is an MMO with ever updating content. I’m willing to guess, with the early introductory levels being you meeting and befriending their members and the story mode helping you learn more about each member. Zhaitan, however, isn’t “their problem” so to speak. I’m wagering future content will center on them while the current game is the devs getting their feet wet with the new Tyria and updated game mechanics.

If he believes his Fire attunement is the best, let him go. If he believes party buffs mean nothing, that conditions mean nothing… let him go. If his party members let him go that way, he´s not hurting anyone…

…except their own party members.

And I’m finding it funny the attunement dancers have to have the last word in regards to the spec’s viability. It’s actually making an sole-attunement focused build seem more attractive actually…in PvE at least.

The way I see it, if the team has 90% uptime of 25 stacks of might because you’re constantly and strategically putting down fire fields, then that’s something attunement dancing isn’t going to do (unless you’re scepter…it’s pretty easy to get those might stacks up and keep them there all by yourself.). Plus you’ll be doing lots of damage and burns yourself. With coordination of the party, you can get alot done with just one attunement.

It makes me curious about other builds focused on air or maybe water…

He skips 99% of the content… This isn’t as much evidence of Warrior overpoweredness, but individual skill and how the ability to skip is hilarious.

Well, teams skip around 60% of the content, so I’d say he’s only skipping an extra 39%…and honestly, teams would skip even more than that if they could but it’s just not as feasable squeezing 5 people through to bypass that stuff. Everyone would need to be capable of handing their own aggro (even in that movie, he got caught a couple of times and had to go back…and this guy is really good)

Well personally I don’t think any class should be able to solo any dungeon path. dungeons are meant for groups. EDIT: but as you and I both said this guy is really good.

Well I’d agree only if you add one extra statement to that:

“I don’t think any class should be able to solo any dungeon path in any reasonable amount of time.”

I bet it took that guy hours to solo that by himself. A mediocre group (that knows the path somewhat) can probably pop out an Arah path 2 in 45min to an hour.

It’s a cool gesture, soloing a duneon and all. But it’s not practical.

1. More hairstyles would be dandy, but more and better skin markings is what I’d prefer.

2. Currently, Asura eyes are bugged. NPCs can have (practically) glowing green, purple, pink eyes but my characters’ eyes are dull by comparison. This should be fixed. I have to basically stop and stare at every Asura NPC, gawking at how much better their eyes look…

3. More skin colors would be nice…

Bonus: A body type with some definition in the abs?

Can a bleed warr PvE properly?

Seems all theoretical to me. One says one thing while another says another.

I think both builds have their place and can compete with each other in certain aspects. One benefit of a direct damage build is it can take down objects a lot easier and regular mobs are more of a breeze.

Benefit of a condition build is your other conditions (bleed, poison, burn, confusion) will do better damage and your other effects (weaken, immobilize, cripple, etc) often last longer.

And if you’re wondering where’s my proof? Scroll up. Kid. And maybe learn a thing or two from my videos.

I think you should just accept that all the weapons are designed for different purposes…Kid.

It kind of reflects real life. When you want to quietly slit someone’s throat or take someone down in close quarters when you don’t have the room to swing around a chainsaw, you use a knife.

When you’re an infantry soldier grouped up with other soldiers in a large scale fire-fight, you want a gun.

As is, I don’t think rifle is suppose to be awesome in 1v1 because it’s so straight forward (point and shoot) which is easy to counter. The reason GS is so amazing (as you say) is because of it’s good damage + mobility. Unless you’re suggesting to put some leaps or teleports in rifle, the premise of your thread (make rifle better without buffing its damage) doesn’t make sense.

Now I did like the though of making Kill Shot non-reflectable and non-blockable. If it’s not hax for that cheating NPC Kudu, then it shouldn’t be unbalanced for us. Beyond that, rifle is fine. If you want utility and/or mobility, you picked the wrong weapon.

Vitality useless for Warriors?

in Warrior

Leo G.4501

Well didnt I say just that? At least I meant it that way.. Guardians have low HP BUT better healing and defensve boons..

You said guardian had more toughness not boons. It’s the boons that is making the difference.

And surviving with 100 HP vs 1000HP from that big hit might make a big difference when the subsequent bleeding takes you out before you can even hit your heal or give you that extra second to revive someone who’s down.

And it’s simple logic that more health magnifies mitigation efforts (and a warrior can apply constant regen to himself, and since regen is a heal over time, it’s basically giving you a longer health bar depending on how long it remains healing you). The only circumstance where Vit would be pointless or just less useful is if the enemy is hitting for so little damage it barely moves your HP or you (and your party) are perfect and 100% (or even 75%) dodge everything.

And this is coming from a dungeon Warrior that wears Knight’s (toughness) gear. I’m not dumping on toughness, but it’d be foolish to say it’s pointless or doesn’t help. Just like a guardian is enabled by their boons, a warrior is enabled by their health (not equally, mind you). I would never suggest skipping out on it, but equip enough to get you to a comfortable health level…then add another 1.5k amount of HP and you’re perfect. I sit at around 24-25k HP for dungeons and fractals and I feel safe at that amount.

Let's fix the rifle

Ranged weapons should never match or even come close to melee weapon damage. Adding a chain attack to rifle auto attack would be imbalanced.

Melee is all about the risk of putting yourself in greater danger balanced by the fact that you deal considerably more damage.

Upsetting this balance should never happen.

Yup.

When I mentioned melee weapons effectively taking out targets at 1200 range, I was mainly pointing out utility. If a ranged weapon could give a melee weapon a run for its money, why use the melee? You can just get off your chained auto for nearly the same damage but with continuous fire from wherever you are on the battlefield, even in a position where the melee target cannot reach.
