I think the reason is laziness, which by no definition is good.

As I illustrated with the example of thief, there more then enough POWER damage available to kill someone in Dire. After all with the thief it is not the armor saving you in any case. it is the dodges and stealth and ports. Added to that, If I take a few cleanses I can mitigate as much damage and more coming from a condition build as someone can mitigate wearing dire to mitigate damage from a power build.

Well there IS a good hybrid build, but it isn’t affected by this change.
Used to be a streamer named gotboons who’d exclusively run cele with dual single handers and radiance.
I still use that build but with carrion, and I believe some pvpr’s do as well.
How’d we get to talking about hybrids anyways? xD

Hybrid IS ABSOLUTELY part of the guardian design, right from day one.
WvW has consistently ignored this in favor of guard being a stabo-bot arrow catcher, but there’s always been guilds and individuals using the lesser known qualities as well.
What’s popular isn’t always all there is. Echo chambers like Reddit forget this.
People listening to their guild leader who saw Red Guard do well in a comp and aped it forget this as well.

the RvR system was better imo, you had just in tier 4 a total of 9 maps to fight for and the way it worked was that for each map you captured the closer you got to your enemies homecity so you can sack it and kill their king

Meditrapper using indomitable courage over permeating wrath IS the better roaming build. That’s my point, this is an unsubstantiated nerf to a build choice that was already weaker
If we’re just going to have one right set of trait choices, why bother offering 3?

That being said, I can hardly see why anyone (except maybe a few crazy WvW roamers) should be seriously worried about a core PvE VoJ passive nerf. Building around that seems weird in pretty mych any scenario.
Permeating wrath is a great skill, especially for fighting tightly packed zergs in WvW.
Maybe you’ve been content with the passive stabo-bot build. Maybe you like standing in arrow cart hate proccing blocks. But your class can do more than zerg.
It’d be interesting to see how many of this subforum’s participants can be seen complaining about how OP thief is in other places, when you’re playing a class that can destroy them effortlessly.

Because it’s not about building the optimal condi build. It’s about being able to play a condi build at all. Not everything is optimised dps, there are hybrid builds, too, that might emerge with our existing and future elite specs. A nerf to VoJ closes the door to everything but firebrand.
People that want to play suboptimal builds are not excluded from playing them because of changes to the game, so no, they are still able to play those builds you say they can’t play at all. Don’t be sensational.
If it’s not about playing the optimal condi build as you say, then how does a 1/2 second reduction in passive VOJ prevent you from playing non-optimal condi or hybrid builds? That makes no sense. Why would even care if your damage is decreased if you are already choosing to play builds that aren’t optimized for whatever kind of damage you want to apply?
I’m really wondering why you’re championing further removal of build variety.

Honestly last time karl listened to this sub forum’s raging we got a dh that was so overpowered that it has been nerfed every patch since. I still remember the dh nuke memes. Hopefully the devs get very selective this time with who they listen to lest we get more powercreep.
It is ridiculous that people here are requesting the new tomes act as kits when these tomes can give area wide stunbreak, stability, projectile reflect, condi removal, healing, burning, and resistance. Engi kits come nowhere near the power that these tomes have and being able to switch back and forth between defense, healing and dps with tomes would not be balanced. A more reasonable request is to lower the cooldown on tome of courage to at least 40-50 sec.
Did you ever see or played DH pre hot? It was pure garbage, ppl were raging with a reason. Than it was buffed but traps were OP for casuals so they nerfed it every patch.
Saddly Firebrand is even worse than prehot DH, you will see it in 2 weeks when ppl try to test it in pvp and wvw.
Engie kits are very good, did you played it, they give block, heal, condi dmg and its quite usefull. Firebrand kits are 90 sec cd which is abysmal cd. Dont forget mantras are 300 range also and almost all skills are 3/4 cast time. Very bad if you actually want to support someone in big fights cause of so many movements and interrupts.
ppl are saying its fun, well hell yeah it would be fun to farm Firebrands when the expansion starts, pls dont be salty then and cry for a buffs it will be too late then.
What I would to see is like engie kits with skills on big cd’s rather than big cd tomes with skills on 6-15sec cd.
Man, if 90 sec cd makes you so salty just take virtues, jesus.
And no, it won’t be too late if firebrand sucks on release. you know because they do balance patches more than once a year. please stop with the hysteria.

Indomitable Courage looses a lot of it’s luster if you go with the elite mantra over RF because it is a IC proc every 15 seconds or 3x with a 40s cooldown when needed.
I’m sorry, but for pvp that invulnerability has untarnishable luster.

Fight starts, try to open tome.. Instantly in dire straits so hit RF. Try to open tome again, everyone else already dead because stupid firebrand stood there useless for 14 seconds.

Personally, the idea of a Warrior that flies across the map, strips all your boons, can’t be damaged, can’t be CC’d, can’t be condied, can 1-shot and you can’t kite more than 600 range from seems ridiculous.
This has been happening to me for about a month, always during primetime .
It’s worse against BG but not limited to them.
I can confirm this isn’t limited to BG because I’ve experienced this issue about a year ago (I’ll have to go fishing to pull evidence of this experience) but it’s definitely worse and happens much more frequently when matched against Blackgate.
I’ve instructed players to open the ports recommended by ANET and have directed players to WTFast and Latency Fix to see if that resolves their issues but they still exist, apparently.
It’s really a stretch to imagine this is a client-side issue isn’t it?
Especially when it’s only Anet’s servers (game AND forums) and happens to people spread all over the globe simultaneously.
