As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.
Hi all! something a bit more polished than usual today. Just finished this for a contest, and wanted to share it.
Title: “Memory of an Apple Vendor”
tybalt:(
Has anyone seen my good friend taquito a.k.a the invisible bandit?
Just lost all respect for taquito. Stealth thieves are bad enough, but stealth trebbing?
That’s a new low.
strebbage.
If my math is right, that’s ~830 kills a day since launch no?
yup
now lets do the math for how many hours a day spent playing guild wars 2. i know i play a lot but that’s just ridiculous.
more coming soon!
there’s no set answer to a question that requires only an opinion.
GoM just does golems better is all…
MY ART IS GOOD RH, GET ON MY LEVEL.
Can’t read what the first pic says.
You should make it spell ZERG next time.I think it says XBOR? X8OR?
And <3 back at ya, Muni!
Muni’s golem art is bad, and he should feel bad.
No! It is good! …Two being the best.
You’re just jealous you have no swag.
Muni’s art is on par with how he plays his characters.
“How’s the quip coming along
-starlight”
RH is split into two factions. The sane faction is doin their best to keep Taquito from gettin the quip!
It’d be even worse than all of RISE runnin around with pop guns (which is pretty bad, if you haven’t had the pleasure).
I was under the impression that being a bunker guardian was a requirement to join RISE
we have bunker guardians? cool! what’re their names?
lots of cool names so far.
Lol maybe we could have your engi dressed up in SE gears get mistaken for another famous sith lord by him…
SE gear looks really dumb on a charr imo lol
I don’t really know about this “Golem” and “Spies” fiasco is. I wasn’t on until later. I couldn’t care less.
But what I’m failing to understand is why you guys have to walk up into our spawn point. And on the walls building siege? Isn’t that exploiting right there? I’m pretty sure that’s why Anet made the guards there in the first place. Next time, just wait outside and chill.
My post was mainly objecting to the fact that “spies” must’ve been involved, rather than just the builder’s failure to prevent us seeing them being built.
I can’t speak for other people, but most of RISE will occasionally run into the bottom of the enemy spawn when we’re bored, and pop quaggan tonics or throw down blueprints for no reason. Enemies are invincible, so we don’t bother fighting, we just chill with anyone from the opposing server who doesn’t want to kill defenseless quaggans. It usually just needs some stealth or block skills to get past the guards, but for some reason the guards took the day off (i checked every other bl as well, fc spawn in our bl was the only place without them. little weird) so we just ran in.
As far as i’m aware, we didn’t actually build any siege on the walls, just threw down some prints because of all the qq-ing about GoM using siege in this thread.
We did, however, use a treb to kill the golems. I do somewhat agree with you that this is a bit shifty, however it doesn’t take that much effort to hide golems in your spawn in places that can’t been seen/hit, and if this wasn’t done, then I don’t see how it’s that different to leaving a golem in the open field and having it destroyed there. It was left in a vulnerable position, and we killed it from a position we could reach without any kind of hacking or exploitation of game bugs. We also had some abrasive comments from FC players after we wiped a group, so we weren’t feeling especially charitable towards them.
All in all, i think it’s just that FC and GoM have been together for too long. Matchup threads tend to get more and more hostile as the week progresses, and we’ve effectively been in the same thread for 3 weeks. It’s clearly not a good matchup, whether you want to attribute it to numbers, tactics, skill, or whatever else, 100,000 point difference is just boring, and some of the forum posts are getting ridiculously stupid (from both sides), particularly about siege. Either way, it will be good to get away from each other for a bit.
i’m in your guild and tl;dr.
love you buh bai
So GoM you guys talk about spies and I see you somehow knew about the Golems at your BL and decided to build a treb and attack them in our spawn as well as use known cheats to get in our spawn and trying to build siege on our walls. Shame on you, to be honest I hope we don’t have to face you guys anymore. I guess having double the population still isn’t enough for you guys.
your guards weren’t there.
007 charr.
See what a little inter-server cooperative effort can result in? It’s a beautiful work of art.
random Ripshankk is random.
Quickie #2 for the day…thief!
man someday i’m commissioning you to do a Darth Maul piece. this one oozed star wars sith lord lol
nice fight with an FC warrior until 2 scumbag AR’s interrupted it. no class at all.
Personally, I think a Rifle kit with emphasis on sniping and distance CC would befit a thief.
YEAH give them more crap to one shot things.
I hate when people call things something they aren’t. You wouldn’t call a pitchfork a spade would you? Or a knife a fork? So why are all engineer firearms larger than pistols called rifles. The fact is they aren’t rifles at all, its wrong and misleading.
A blunderbuss is not a rifle
A musket is not a rifle
A shotgun is not a rifleThe difference is rather large for anyone who actually knows how these weapons actually work. The rifle is a weapon accurate at long range for a start and above are not. I won’t go into technical differences but they are quite different weapons…as different as a mace and a sword.
The abilities you use for a rifle actually suit a shotgun/blunderbuss or even musket, they do not suit a rifle. The difference being the former mentioned are short range weapons and the rifle is long range. Scatter shot for example is suitable for shotguns/blunderbuss but not for a rifle!
Its not a big deal but you have to admit it makes you think about the people who actually designed engineers. Its seems a very silly mistake to make.
Ideally i would love to have the choice of shotgun/blunderbuss or rifle for longer range, however unlikely to happen. I know someone will bring up real life but if i wanted to slate engineers from a realism point of view i would be here a while.
the second muskets came with rifling, they were called rifles. other than that sure whatever you’re right.
can we have those please? the zenith weapons look cool, i just wish they were darker:(
oh ha. that’s funny.
it’s more power vs condition.
are you a power build? if yes, close to death.
are you a condition build? choose dhuumfire.
hybrid? choose either.
in a perfect world, what would you have your necromancer’s name be?
Hermaeus Mora would be mine. i’m sure it was taken within the first 5 minutes of the game’s release
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE
AR interrupting dinner like the scumbags they are.
hmph.
Engis are going to be
JedisSith o.O
and why not? there’s already a tazer glove in the game that does absolutely nothing.
I’m not fond of detailed skill suggestions either; as an artist and writer, I’ve learned there’s a lot of truth to the maxim “If someone tells you that something is wrong, they’re usually right. If they tell you how to fix it, they’re usually wrong.”
hole in your argument but, sure, electricity. why not.
>engineer equips kit
>kit has electrified gauntlets
something like that?
(edited by Lightsbane.9012)
sniper rifle sounds way out of the engi style… maybe a long range bazooka to match the missile turret??
or to replace it entirely lol.
i ran rocket turret for the toolbelt skill for a while. the toolbelt ability was good, but the turret’s health was halved by an auto attack of a crested raptor.
NECROMANCER =/= DEATHKNIGHT
Exorcise your fantasy ideas luggage from World of Moneycraft.
I agree Anet failed hard giving an identity to Necromancer, but this doesn’t mean it has to be insulted more pairing it to the Death Knight kitten .
Stop this heresy about 2 handed swords and axes!
we’ll ignore the fact that blizzard did not invent the concept of deathknight. if a greataxe comes into the game, it will be given to at least one of the light armor classes, warrior, possibly ranger.
EDIT: the greataxe on a necro could function like mesmer’s greatsword. no i don’t mean shoot a beam of superdeath. the greataxe could function in a way opposite to the mesmer’s greatsword, closer target is, more damage it takes, with a max range of 900. still would swing it like a warrior swings a hammer, and most abilities would be melee with a couple ranged hits.

Blaine, let me get this straight:
“After all the things this class has been through… you guys don’t want to enjoy a bit of OPness (if any ?). Have some fun… we were underpowered for a while now… [/quote]I have rarely felt particularly underpowered on my Necro. And I’d rather we be balanced than OP. I don’t mind making the most of specs that are supposedly UP, but it always makes me feel dirty playing something I know is OP, like every victory I have has been stolen from me before I even get them because the deck was stacked so heavily in my favor.”
what delicious irony it is then, for you to play a thief.
thank you very much
part 5, Skystride
After the initial meeting between my father and the human leader, father invited the humans to our city Skystride. I made it known to my father that that displeased me greatly, however Ventari was quite keen on the idea. He was more than happy to show the humans our great home. I was not, I sensed something more sinister about them, and I was taught as a youngling to trust my instincts.
“Father, is it so wise to let the humans see our city? I still don’t trust them.” I said, pacing the market square.
Og’Rahn looked at me, with an expression that seemed hopeful.
“I’m hoping to be friendly with these strangers, Crowsbane. I will teach them how to live off the land they now occupy. This is the right thing to do.” Og’Rahn replied; I then knew he planned to help the settlers wholeheartedly.
This scared me. I was not sure how to convince father of my suspicions. Did he not know of what happened with the Charr?
“Don’t you remember Ascalon father…” I said quietly.
He turned his head toward me, as if he did not hear me.
“Nothing, father. You’re right. Perhaps we should help them.”
My father has been right before so I had no reason to not trust him.
After I had cooled down, I went over and tried to talk to one of the human two-legs. The one I chose to speak to was very tall, and wore darkened steel armor. He looked to be middle aged and wise. After a few minutes of small talk, I found out why they were here.
“We’d heard rumors of-”
“How do you know our language, two-legs?” I demanded.
“I was with the Durmand Priory before I was a soldier, noble Centaur. It’s my business to know things. Anyway, your Og’Rahn tells me your name is Crowsbane. My name is Ronan, it is an honor to finally speak to you.” The two-leg held out his hand.
I looked to my father, as I was unsure what to do. Father held out his hand towards me and I understood it to be a greeting gesture and shook the human’s hand.
“The honor is mine, Ro-naaaan.” I had trouble pronouncing his name.
The two-leg smiled and smiled lightly.
“Not so much emphasis on the nan, friend.” He said chuckling softly. “So how long has this city of yours been here?”
I paused to think for a moment.
“Since the Dawn broke over the Hinterlands, roughly one thousand of your human years.”

Errr…. condition removal is not evenly distributed among classes. If you want a quick explanation, then here it is.
With addition of a new condition called torment and access to burning, some classes do not have enough condition removal to remove other important conditions like poison, bleeds, fear (terror traited). Torment, cripple and other condition are shielding more damaging conditions such as burning or stacking bleeds.
In wvwvw, I am not sure how to evaluate due to food buffs such as lemon grass
In spvp and tpvp, these two extra condition put a strain on the classes already limited condition removal.
Necros are on the slightly OP side due to other class deficiencies in condition removal.
I play warrior and torment hurts because it is very difficult to remove.
of course a warrior says necro is op. can i borrow your 100b damage for my axe 2?
classes limited in conditions removal:
warrior annnnd thief. why? because they get everything else.
ranger has a lot, engineer has alot, guardian has a lot, mesmer has some(although no one uses it, hence the complaining) elementalist has a kittenton, necromancer has 3 skills that cleanse conditions.
when a warrior calls a necromancer overpowered, i’m just going to laugh. why? because the difference between necro burning and warrior burning is kind of like the difference between a Vulpix and a Charizard.
I’m pretty sure I’ll be eaten alive by some people who read only the title and start anything to defend the skill.
In my opinion, this skill is that strong to the point it overshadows both the other heals.
Even if you run a full minion or well builds, picking Blood Fiend or Well of Blood over Consume Conditions is an huge loss over healing capability and condition removals, despite the fact that both WoB and BF are underpowered compared to skills like consume conditions.
blood fiend can be easily nuked by the slightest amount of AoE, and well of blood doesn’t clear conditions at all, so it’s obvious why consume conditions is a better choice.
fix’d it for you.
I find, both playing as and playing against players with Dhuumfire and Terror, that it isn’t overpowered, especially when considering options against it.
To take Dhuumfire and fully benefit from Terror, you have to run 30/20/0/0/20. This means you have 0 points in either of the defensive trait lines. You’ve got the option to run several condition clears, but zero access to invulnerable frames or stealths. Essentially you’re running the berserker equivalent of condition damage.
You’ve got great offense, with a base, lets say, 1000 damage a second from a consistent application of bleeding and poison. Fears add 1200 dps, and in the span of 1 minute, you might get 6000 damage from fears if they don’t break them at all. Add in the burning at 50% uptime and that’s 4000 damage every 10 seconds. All in all, these numbers are not too out of line with what berserkers can output. I find it lower, especially since at it’s max, my condition damage build can do 5000 damage in 1 second, with a serious dropoff in sustained immediately after.
we’ll ignore for a second that rampager’s isn’t the only condition set. you’re not really saying anything the rest of the post, so i just cleared it and saved what i thought was relevant.
rabid is the superior condition set. you become a necrotic fortress. also you don’t have to run increased fear duration at all to benefit from terror, regardless it isn’t overpowered at all.
in fact i’d say to benefit from fear the most you’d need decreased staff cooldowns.
i haven’t touched the “sky pirates” thing at all, save for getting a port to the lion’s arch/broadhollow chest. i guess the point of these is each patch is something for everyone. i know mini pet fanatics so this is right down their alley.
although i wish Anet would do more to include wvw players in this. maybe force the pve players to come to wvw instead of the other way around with at least one of these patches?
I see what you did there
haha. i’m glad. or did you? stealth
I’m still having a lot of fun, I only play in PvE and WvW. If you’re having doubts about thief why not try other classes anyway?
Thief is (in my opinion) in a good place right now as far as balance goes.
u cant thing shortbow or pistol is in a good place….
or our lack of boons or hp or defense without having 1st place burst :P srry we had our burst cut 33% with much alone!
anyway there are a few major problems other than that too. like how we only have 3 or MAYBE 4 utilities to choose from bc the others are truly not viable.
or how you can have all berserk arrmor but depending if u put 30 30 10 0 0 for full dmg or 0 0 10 30 30 for 50% less dmg……shouldnt be such a big swing due to traits although there is bc our base dmg need to be higher…as anet said before.
i am not saying that we are the only ones that need work but making crap decision every patch is making this game die. period. most are waiting to jump ship when the next big MMORPG comes out. then you can atleast cut GW2 players in half.. AT least.
you have the same armor as engineer and ranger. saying ‘we don’t have the same armor/hp’ is ridiculous. stack something other than zerkers if that’s your complaint. also, if that is indeed true that thief gets less armor rating, deal with it. that’s the tradeoff for being able to 12k backstab.
Someone saying that obviously hasn’t played a necromancer or engineer.
Have both. Played both. They condition better and faster than a ranger.
i never said they didn’t. i wholeheartedly acknowledge ranger’s bugs and messed up mechanics. but i do recommend you take a look at the bug thread for both necro and engineer.
you never cease to amaze
you should play wvw on GoM. odds of finding a good ranger is roughly 1 in 20(especially if they’re friendly rangers for some reason) i can’t even count how many times i’ve seen rangers spam 1 with a SB on me without moving. that said, i’ve also met some incredibly good rangers. i’ll end the rantquote by saying this: ranger is indeed a class that’s deeper than half of the guild wars 2 classes. knowing it can make you, not knowing it can and will break you.
I don’t WvW much (I dislike most all forms of PvP) and I will never leave my beloved Tarnished Coast. When I do WvW I take my ele, thief, or mes as they are all far more useful with the same effort applied.
I do feel that to play ranger well it has the highest skill floor, not due to mechanics working as intended but due to the core class mechanic being borked.
someone saying that obviously hasn’t played a necromancer or engineer.
a major problem with ranger is that you have new players playing as a ranger expecting it to be like WoW’s hunter.
I don’t think this is true at all. I don’t think a majority of rangers are stuck in that mentality. Most of us are playing the ranger as we want to play the GW2 ranger, not WoW’s hunter. The problem is that many of our core and required mechanics has large glaring flaws that we need to openly build around just to mitigate as much of the broken mechanic as we can (read: pet AI).
and as a full condition ranger, i daresay you can pressure conditions almost as good as a necro(if only you had an epidemic right?) with longbow you can snipe and hit very hard, and this weapon was made for world vs. world.
point in fact, failing to understand the class usually creates a player that fails at playing it.(no offense to some of you) i play wvw every day and see maybe 1 good ranger out of 20. THAT is the problem.Even a condition ranger falls far short on condition pressure than a necro or an engy, or even a sword warrior. And our longbow is actually a lower DPS weapon than our SB. They had to nerf SB distance to force us to actually use the LB.
It’s not that all of us rangers don’t understand the class. Most of us run builds to mitigate as much as we can. It’s that it seems even ArenaNet does not understand, or at least they don’t seem to understand what they want the ranger to be.

a major problem with ranger is that you have new players playing as a ranger expecting it to be like WoW’s hunter. instead they get a mix between Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas. people’s problem with the class isn’kittens viability, it’s what they expected it to be. GW2 is more difficult than WoW as the classes aren’t totally defined in their roles. i am glad of this, because I always wanted to be a magic swordsman(mesmer) or a dark executioner(axe necro) you can’t do that with cookie cutter classes. The only classes that seemed to retain the cookie cutter idea of classes is: thief, warrior, and to a degree elementalist.
then you get ranger who can use almost all of the weapons a warrior and thief can use. as a ranger you can go full on condition, tank lots of enemies with a sword/dagger. and as a full condition ranger, i daresay you can pressure conditions almost as good as a necro(if only you had an epidemic right?) with longbow you can snipe and hit very hard, and this weapon was made for world vs. world.

from now on, i’ll remember this thread whenever i fear a whole group off a cliff with this situational skill.
“I beg ANet to revert that skill, or at least change it to something else. It’s impossible to play PvP with that BS.
-from another profession”
that’s quite the map
too bad it shows jsut how small the guild wars 2 universe really is lol.
Now that I finally got an editing program to run without crashing on this computer, I can start posting videos again. Clips are from last week.
Or, if you don’t like videos, here’s a gif that explains how I play thief.
Taquito….you make me want to use all the money I’ve been saving up for a blue dorito chip to become a no-stealth p/p thief. The genocide I just witnessed…..was just a thing of beauty Y_Y. ALSO thanks RH for HORRIBLY murdering that relentless as hell DR thief yesterday who kept chasing me even after all her friends had stopped xD I love you all so much.
that EDGE thief is actually…lol. i’ve never been killed by that thief without her having lots of help. it’s really annoying though.
Are there good wvw builds that do not require using the grenade kit? I really enjoy my engineer but I am not skilled with the manual targeting that is required for the grenade kit.
If there are, I would appreciate any tips or builds that I can use to be effective in wvw.
i haven’t used grenade kit since january. i run rifle/toolkit.
i roam all the time. never had a need for it. with or without the new rocketboots.
So?
If you never had a need for it why are you in this topic since the minute its created? and why are you the one who posted the most number of entries in this thread while you never use this trait and this bug is completely no problem for you?
Why are you in need of coming to a thread opened about an issue you repeatedly stated that ‘you don’t mind’ but you disturb people who are trying to gather ideas of other people -who are actually want it to be fixed- and argue with them asking off topic questions like ’’why do you use it?, who needs this?, I never use it bla bla bla
I just don’t get it.
just because i don’t use something doesn’t mean i’ll ignore something that’s bugged. i stopped using extra supplies because it was bugged for mortar, yet i still drew attention to it in the forums. i’ll also be the first to disagree with something if i don’t find it to be true. hence my continued use of this thread.
hair trigger>riflemods>go for the eyes>rifled barrels.
there is any possibility to know if there will be GVG on this game, and if it’s yes, when?
Thanks Arenanet
heck, guild anything. not counting bounties. guild hall, guild fishing poles, guild potatoes…guilds are no where near emphasized enough for a game title Guild Wars 2
It is not that flat. DpH and DpS are related. You do five hits over 10 seconds, each of those hits do 1k damage, which is 500 dps. Another class does 10 hits over 10 seconds, each hit does 500 damage, which is again 500 dps. DpS does matter, but what really matters in terms of PvP are the utilities and the mobility.
i’m just throwing numbers out there, but yeah that’s a good way to look at dps. say something has a consistent hit of 3k, but only able to do this every 10 seconds. what’s the DpS of that skill?
oh, that works. thank you forum gods.
Just a warning.
When traiting rifled barrels, your jumpshot becomes usless again. At the end of the jump shot you will land, go back into the air unable to move. Rendering the movement difference between traited and untraited range useless.
Please please please anet. Fix this asap. I really want to use rifles and gadgets, don’t let jump shop be bugged for another 4 months.
off topic, but why would you use rifled barrels at all with rifle?
WvW Roaming. Traited for gadgets now and static discharge with rocket boots gave me a huge buff to surviveability. Jumpshot traited range + super speed + rocket boots is a great escape mechanism. Slick shoes as a last resort.
i roam all the time. never had a need for it. with or without the new rocketboots.
