as we all know well, any form of ‘additions’ will be in the form of weapons already in game. my best guess would be greatsword, non-aquatic spear, OH axe, and maybe shield.
With the fact that you can keep a enemy permachilled with little investment even on a power build (and you should invest in that because its bloody strong even in pve since its aoe on the target), that would also mean perma 3 or 4 stacks of confusion on the enemy unless the duration is like 2 seconds…
so perplexity runes. got it.
the difference between a living story event and an actual expansion is after the initial event weeks of the particular LS, no one is compelled to do it.

Reading over some of those old traits got me excited, even thought they’re long gone.

i remember from my GOM days when BP could lock down a(the) map(s) for three straight weeks. so when you talk of blobs, remember your own matchup history.
One thing I have noticed is there seems to be a large number of female characters as opposed to male characters. I should say I’m talking about Human and Norn. I wondered why but then it seems there are a lot more options when creating female characters. They just look cooler. Male human characters look like cardboard cut outs. Ken dolls with bad hair. They are boring. A few minutes in LA or DR will show many more females than males.
I really don’t think people choose female characters to pretend to be female. I just think armors and options for customizing seem more appealing for female characters. Male Human/Norn armor just looks more boring. I wish they would come up with more unique looks for male characters. I’ll admit that 7 out of my 12 characters are human female. They just look more B/A
you mean you haven’t heard the ’i’d rather look at a girl all day than a male’ argument? it’s one of my favorites. i guess if that’s the only time you see a female i understand the argument.
I still personally think the lack of a burst skill on dagger is what prevents a melee necro from making any sense at all… Some people like the dagger 2, but I can’t imagine why. A channeled skill that has a low damage component because of its healing aspect is not ideal unless you dump 30 in SR specifically for stability so you can finish the cast.
Now if Dark armor granted stability while channeling and moved to master tier it would be a more useful skill.
Most people just use it when you are stuck outside of melee range, your swap is on cooldown, your DS is on cooldown, and your dagger 3 and 4/5 skills are on cooldown. A skill we look forward to using would be nice though, instead of a, when all else is unavailable (similar to Axe 1).
i was thinking a quick whirl. like death blossom….which would be a better name for a necro skill anyway. it would be a whirl not an evade though and do direct damage for 2-3 hits.
i don’t think traits are the answer to necro’s defensive problems. however, adding existing weapons might be.
i’ve been questioning the usefulness of this skill for a while. sure it is a ‘burst skill’ kind of, sure it heals for about 1800(yay), and it has an obnoxious cooldown for such a quick weapon. but would anyone be willing to give up the skill entirely for something LIKE heartseeker. i do not mean a simple leap to your target and that target takes damage based on HP threshold, i mean an instant damaging skill. maybe a ~8s CD dagger whirl that syphons?

I really don’t think the balance can get any worse than it currently is. I used to be opposed to multiclassing and such due to balancing issues but right now I’m open to it all. The game has gotten boring and the current meta is kitten .

as of right now, condi is the easiest way to do damage for necromancer and live while doing it. after the eventual addition of new weapons to necromancer, that might change. or it might not. so right now my verdict is tank conditionmancer. even though i run power with daggers.

here’s how i see this trait(as a power necro)
imagine if x class was immune to direct damage above 90% health, and the only way to get it down was with conditions. i would just be sitting there because my condition damage is absolute crap. IMO ele just has way too much survivability. it combines the escapes of mesmer(minus stealth) with the condi cleansing of guardian.
what about the proposed expanding of existing weapons to more classes?
I want melee cleave, I want better lifesyphon.

WoW.a) Deathknights are actually a warcraft thing in the current format, Blackguards have nothing to do with raising undead, controlling blood, etc; they were actually against most of necro stuff even if most shared the same realms of evil in the original few formats since they are just always chaotic evil versions of pallys with even more specific rules and ability to reverse their turn undead into a flesh puppet (same as clerics no matter the school specification and even some specifications of sorcerer and druid).
b) The guys who you mean in d&d terms are Soul Eaters (Life force necro),
Lifedrinker (2 variants, thus liches and vampires/think aatrox or vlad), Warriors of Darkness (metaish alchemy fighters that wow DKs both parody and take a lot of reference from), Master of Shrouds (aka kitten necromancers with the drowish/vampire sun weakness, but doesnt need to be chaotic nor evil), Blood Mages (aka whiny emo dudes that are too stupid to learn arcane or emo dudes to weak physically to cast arcane), Entropomancer (guys going to the logical extreme of using negative energy sources shooting at you with anti matter/kinda what our life blast does), Deaths Chosen (aka the what if our minions could talk), Pale masters (how we summon marks/wells/stuff not related to hurting ourselves or kitten decaying) and the good old True Necromancers (so everything above with all their glory and weaknesses).
Dont make me start typing out the draconian or element/divine based sub classes of necromancy or this post will be 3 pages.
C) warcraft borrowed the concept from EQ1’s shadow knight. aka, the same exact thing but called something different.
I don’t understand this ridiculous fixation on telling people to go to spvp. If spvp was something we wanted to do, don’t you think we’d be there? How about you go to spvp and get those ppt circles all you want.
The reason people keep telling you this is because XOXO (granted, a vocal few) seems to do a lot of either whining or boasting on the forums. All a consequence of the unfair nature of WvW (by design). Hence the suggestion of sPvP.
However, it’s also understood that the idea of fair fights vs seasoned teams can be a bit intimidating.
Yet its funny to see how those that read these threads tend to hunt down XOXO in an attempt to shut them up. Funny how that works in XOXO’s favor :-)

vs a d/d thief? quite a bit. when you’re in range you’re also in the thief’s range. aka, cloak and dagger and no more immobilize. oh and blinds. love those.
With full soldier gear and appropriate runes, fight for a while until you see them cleanse a bit, then root with dagger and drop WoC and spam dagger 1.
With other gear sets, you’re probably at least a little bit boned.
As Dire/Rabid, just stack up the AoE until they run or die.
i run half knights half berserker’s. aka, a little bit boned. yay, necro puns.
as a dagger necro? after countless encounters with them i’m never able to do anything.
EDIT: now running bone minions and golem. proving to be lulzy. even beat a tankier condi necro.

i’m glad people are posting in these threads. i’m intentionally keeping my opinions out of it for the most part because i really just want these discussions to get attention. Anet does read these threads even if they don’t say they do and creative feedback always helps.
Personally I’d love to see a defensive 2-handed cleave weapon.
With pulls instead of leaps and charges.
So it stays in the concept of a low mobility attrition class

Yeah, cause when I joined WvW I was totally prepared and knew everything there was to know about WvW even though I had no prior experience. Reading post and watching video’s can only do so much. But you need to chill out ether way, I’m pretty sure this is a joke post.
some players are simply not good at pvp. when the larger pve community admits this, and instead attempts to be better at it instead of griping to anet for a piggyback, posts like this won’t be needed. even if they are joke posts.

I guess it’s a leap. Weird, I seem to remember being able to do aoe heals with it in a water field.
landing should be a blast, and the jump part should be a leap. you can heal yourself with it in waterfields but it’s singular.
A lack of mobility means death in a pvp environment, mobility is king. We are the easiest of any class to be trained on, people can stick to us like glue and you all know this.
Here’s another thing I know: Necros are currently one of the strongest classes in sPvP.
And you would like high mobility on top of that? Gimme a break…Necros are not mobile classes. We don’t need mobility. We are the tankiest light armor class under the sun with a huge healthpool and DS on top of that. This combined with our high pressure potential makes us a very hard hitter.
You don’t want to add mobility to that. Every class needs a weak spot. Mobility is ours, get used to it or reroll.
tl;dr: Nercos need mobility like a warrior needs stealth.
that’s the problem. anet and a lot of players base the balance of classes and lack thereof on how they perform in spvp. i think that is fundamentally wrong.

Necros are not designed to be runners, we are designed for attriction and survival. I roam a lot in WvW and yes many times I have mobility problens but this is our weak point and every class has one, if you cant get used to it just reroll.
If a class has mobility, high damage, high survival, it becomes OP and boring… thieves know about it

i’ve played thief, it’s too easy. mesmer is great but i like necromancer. i’m usually good at judging how fights will turn out in wvw, but when my guild decides to zerg their way into a probably-losing fight an instant teleport to wherever would be nice.
i love this idea, but i’d prefer it to be a power weapon. absolutely love the last skill suggestion and i don’t think it’s overpowered at all. just look at warrior’s fear me.

Yeah my goal was to make it a power based weapon but as for the numbers I was a little unsure :S and for the skill Blood Loss, even though it says it in the description, it does in fact NOT cause bleeding. the idea was that they’ve lost so much that they are dizzy. but I you have any suggestive tweaks Ill by happy to edit them

A made a thread on the thief forums about how, in my opinion, scythes should be introduced and given to two classes: Thief and Necromancer Scythes For Thieves
. Thief mainly because a scythe is a ninja weapon in various media but ultimately, the necromancer should wield this fantastic weapon
So before I go on, this is indeed a melee two-hander, I also speculate that if introduces, it will be the fastest of the two handed melee weapons, and it can cleave up to three targets. I please urge you to read the thief version first as, like with daggers, the scythe moves are similar to an extent I also tried to give you guys mobility

as all necromancer players know, their character of choice is about as mobile as a guardian in a clowncar. one way to fix this is to make Necrotic Traversal a standalone skill. this would not be in any way overpowered or imbalanced, and flesh worm would be a different skill altogether. i love that necro can teleport but the summon time is just obnoxious and gets me killed more than saves me, at least when the worm isn’t summoned. the other problem is that the worm is required to teleport and the summon is a deadly 1 and a half seconds. this can mean the difference between life and death in a sanctum of rall zerg. please anet, necro does not suffer from the split of those two skills. make worm just another minion and make necrotic traversal a normal teleport.
Like Drarnor said, it is up to how many they can cleanse. Necros can apply, in the dumbfire build, burning, bleeding, chill, poison, cripple, weakness, and fear in one bleed rotation. A rotation that is up every 20 seconds, and can deal massive damage if you don’t get those conditions off you. Plus if you do it right, the bleeds (the real damage) are the furthest condition in, meaning you have to cleanse 6 conditions before you remove the important damage.
Oh btw, cute healing skills. Now try to use them while fear-locked.
try to do anything as a necromancer when there’s more than one person cc’ing. plague form is not worth it for the stability. 180 second cooldown? funny joke.
i still haven’t touched personal story past level 70 something.
i’m most disappointed in the fact that the most interesting characters of each story was killed off all three of the order companions were deeper and more interesting than some of the main characters.
for me, it’s about the entire story, and my role in it. however the game makes it about traherne and his character development, and that overshadows the Orr problem….which was a massive letdown.
to an extent, i care about the story, but since trahearne totally dominates it after level 40, it becomes trahearsonal. QED, race change items won’t change the game that much.
can we have it now? i want all my characters to be angry giant cats. charrs<3

yes rabid is better for condition builds obviously. but you’re not throwing out a lot of conditions with just pistols are you. and the poison dart volley can reach 4-5k with rampagers.
you are throwing alot of conditions out. pistols are condition weapons. if you’re using rampagers to do big damage on poison dart volley, i’m a little worried. because the way you’re wording it seems like you would think rampagers+rifle would be a good idea.
