As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.
You’ll stow your MH shield as a hat. Could have some april fools potential there.
But Yup, no leak info on next spec wep. Bets on Mace or shortbow.
hey, if shortbow proves anywhere near as powerful as guardian’s longbow, i’m sold.
i want my class to be effective in the places you claim it is.
have a good day.
Jumped by a pack of roaming Thieves, 5 in total. I didn’t immediately die because I run a very tanky build, but I did get hit with so many Head Shots and Slight Of Hands that I don’t think I ever managed to get off one full attack. It was pretty much 10 straight seconds of interrupts until I was defeated.
I was actually laughing out loud at how even my auto attacks were being interrupted they were spamming so many dazes. /shrug, that’s the kind of risk you take when you run a vanilla Necromancer in WvW alone.
love that. it’s why i’ve all but stopped maining the class in wvw.
anet seemed to believe that it was a good idea to make a class so vulnerable to interrupts that in a scenario like this, many of the other classes would be able to escape, but not necromancer.
Would you be willing to give up the instant non projectile hits on #1 and #2? Because that is pretty much the reason why Axe will never be buffed into usefulness. The guy in charge of creating Reaper said as much (I forget his name).
I’m all for any change that benefits Axe, so long as it either remains ranged or Dagger gets turned into a ranged Power Weapon (I mean, considering every skill for Dagger is ranged except the autos……..). We just need a good, solid ranged Power Weapon, every other weapon is more Condition-based or is flat out melee.
How’s about Axe 1 be reworked to where you throw the Axe instead of it slicing and dicing? And for Axe 2, I honestly don’t know cuz I do love this skill but maybe make it unblockable? You got me there to be honest, I’ll put my brain to work for a bit and come back with a better response.
how about just swapping axe and dagger for functionality? i’d much rather swing an axe than a dagger. make ghastly claws a melee whirl or something.
The general consensus seems to be: don’t make Axe melee and don’t make Dagger ranged. I can see where the OP is coming from, and I honestly don’t want to change how they’re used at all, though personally Dagger being ranged would make far more sense to me considering its only melee ‘skill’ is its autos.
and i’m with you there. the ‘claws’ thematic seems to fit more to a knife/dagger IMO at least.
Dragonhunter f1 pulled into an enemy zerg and instant killed. It wasn’t pretty.
yeah that gets me a lot no matter what i’m playing, haha.
what’s always fun is when it goes beyond its range to still work and pull you off higher part of a keep or something. you go flying once to the caster then up into the air all over again!
actually, from a standpoint of a proper way to hold a claymore, females would be much better off in combat than their male counter parts in gw2. you cannot hold a greatsword like that while running(male) and expect to be able to perform any sort of swings with it.
New weapon types are like new races. Sounds good on paper but ads almost nothing to the game.
really? a quick polearm like spear adds nothing?

let’s do a joke thread about a serious problem.
i’ll start.
charged into enemy chronomancer, and enemy thief jumped in and kept me perma-dazed. infusing terror was up in case you’re wondering.

Gold needed does not equal difficulty.
Pvp back piece is no longer obtainable, you can still get The Pve backpiece.
Again Gold does not equal difficulty!
And the pvp player has to learn how to play against players to get wins to advance to get the backpiece within a very short time window unlike the Pve player who can incrementally get there’s all day every day
‘’All day every day’’
Wow! I can’t believe you dont see the irony in what you just said. You must be irony deficient. Realistically speaking, you can pass the first two divisions in PvP under 1 day because you can play ‘all day every day’. I know this because I’ve done it. And I’m less than average skilled PvP player. If I can perform this veteran PvP players can do this at 10x the speed.
Learn how to play against players? All you have to do is cap points and win match. Is that what you’re talking about? Even ANET’s recently announced that there are surprisingly low skilled players in legendary division and that’s why they decided to limit match making to solo and duo only. Get your head out of the sand.I can’t believe you’re insinuating that PvE is a walk in the park. Haha. Cute PvP player. However, I will say this; PvE skill curve inclination is high at first and then once it reaches certain point it remains at that level until new PvE challenges are introduced and then it requires you to improve your skills again. Whereas, PvP skill curve is low at first and then continuously goes up because remaining at that skill level requires players to vigorously improve their own gameplay and team cooperation. Just to clear things up, I wasn’t suggesting that overall PvP game is easy. The point I was trying to make is acquiring legendary items in PvP gameplay will be very linear. Kill this, kill that, play this play that, reach this tier. PvE legendary backpiece forces you to go on an adventure all across tyria and pull resources from as much diverse events as possible. But in PvP this will never be possible. Legendary backpiece is a good example.
Don’t get me wrong, I actually enjoy doing all those PvE achievements to get my legendary items. It makes this game come alive and makes it feel everything in the game matters. But the point is PvE players have so much barriers to overcome. Whereas, the same thing can’t be said about PvP players. Case in point PvP legendary backpiece, you can start working towards it on day1 of buying your account. Gold is not the point here. It’s the barriers that PvE players needs to overcome just to get to start line. If PvP players get the same amount of barriers than it will be fair playing field. And I wouldn’t really mind. But I don’t think that’s possible in PvP because it’s a linear game mode and there isn’t much there for devs to design something that is as diverse PvE legendary missions. We can see that in PvP legendary backpiece missions. It’s nowhere near as diverse as PvE backpiece.
yeah he means you can take as long as you want with the pve backpiece. obviously not so much with a timegated item like the pvp backpiece or wvw tournament weapons. ironic how that was lost on you.
As much as I want Spear to be a thing, it seems unlikely that they’ll introduce new weapon sets before they’ve finished porting current sets.
I get that technically Spear isn’t a new set, but at the same time it kind of is.
and as much as i will never want to say it, you’re probably right. who wants a spear that performs like a hammer or melee staff? I want to feel like Zhao Yun in the middle of the battle of red cliff, i don’t want them to reskin staves or repurpose greatswords. if they do make spears terrestrial, it should have it’s own place.
let me solve the greatsword issue right now.
unrelenting assault combines with the greatsword trait to increase attack speed of both weapons. why they didn’t do this is absolutely asinine.
here’s to hoping that mobs don’t wise up and focus the necromancer too. then there’s no place that the class can do anything.
space.
stack limit.
core revenant needs two things at the very least:
1.) access to a condition based weapon with range
2.) condition cleansing spread out among the legends instead of entirely in mallyx.+/-
3.) stop tying weapons to legends. you restrict their use.Mallyx doesn’t have any Condi cleanse….
jalis has all the cleansesEdited forgot pain Transference isn’t a Condi cleanse
my point was, in mallyx condi’s aren’t really an issue.
Nah, it wouldn’t sheathe. They can save time by just having the main-hand shield always equipped while the off-hand shield can go on the back.
I’m sure there would be so many responses about it cosmetically, but in the end, the novelty idea of dual-wielding shields is just a bit too good for Anet to pass up.
wrong. it would go on the engineer’s head, obviously.

I want a GS in elem using the staff skills too
out of context.
try again.
I think they prefer to make outfits to put in the gem store so they can profit
Profit? People actually buy outfits? :s I bought ONE, everything else is either too fancy or has clipping issues.
Btw, I agree about removing weight restrictions. Let’s mix-n-match skins freely!
i want my battlemage reaper thank you. +1
also a side note, lets maybe be more creative with armor designs in general. maybe some proper mage robes, or something.
Okay, so they can thesaurus a different word. Stop derailing the thread.
Some of the ideas in this thread actually have me intrigued. =)~ Kovu
there is no thesaurus word for amazon. i like the idea for the elite spec, i’m only here because people were triggered.
they’ve been working on the next expansion for at least a couple months after the release of heart of thorns. I have a feeling it’s much closer than we think, too.

because no one would do them otherwise.
i’m still waiting for a reason.
From a fractal perspective we are in a good spot. So much so that dying in fractals as a necro has become a meme.
From WvW perspective we were fine to begin with and we didn’t receive any nerfs regarding our place in PvP. If anything I might dust off my power build for PvP.
I don’t know what to say about Necro in raids as I am not that experienced, but they may still be needed in places they were used (Sloth, Matt etc).
I may sound like I am ignoring the nerf but it is apparent that balance patches has hit a nerf trend – I am just glad Epidemic is still the same as it was and there wasn’t any other nerfs.
wvw necro is the same as it’s always been, yes. a ragdoll made slightly less so because of reaper shroud.
Amazons are women, bruh.
And dragonhunters (!= dragonhuntress) are men :I.
My suggestions:
- Portable Walls (50 supplies per regular keep sized wall piece)
- Portable Gates, to fill the gaps between the Portable Walls. (100 supplies per Gate)
- Portable Supply Depots (90 supplies per Depot, grants 100 supplies ready to be picked up when built, wouldnt that be even more genious than cannons? I KNOW!)
i don’t think barricades are a bad idea, within reasonable limits of course.
because it’s aggressive and i must pretend to be darth malgus.
no they’re not projectiles, but the skill specifically says that it destroys ranged attacks while casting projectiles
meaning ranged abilities will be blocked while the guardian casts projectiles
so shouts may be classified as a ranged attack. also worth noting that rise and nothing can save you are both unlockable abilities. so regardless of whether or not they’re considered ranged, they should be getting through
both your soul is mine and suffer weren’t getting through.
None of our mainhand only weapons produce a phantasm (though since we only have 2, I can see why you would think scepter was “unique” in that regard), so I really don’t see what you are trying to say here.
Maybe scepter feels unique because it actually has a burst damage skill which is not a phantasm. Sword’s damage is essentially the AA.
that’s what i’m saying. it has a burst that isn’t reliant on summoning something.
You’ll want Mirage/Projectile hate with Thief Rifle spam.
well unless anet gives mesmer an electro-whirl equivalent on this supposed axe with a low cooldown, won’t really matter will it?
are necromancer shouts considered projectiles? I wonder this because i was fighting a dragonhunter in world vs. world, and my shouts weren’t getting through zealots defense (sword #3)
had to miss it last year (midterms ftw), it’s one of the most entertaining gold farms ever.
gravedigger when it connects.
- Simple fix: change phantasms to attack only once (being invulnerable during this time) before becoming “standard” clones and fix our personal damage accordingly.
- Less simple (but better?) fix: rework and remove damage from phantasms altogether like I suggest in my signature.
There are solutions, but a-net does not care too much.
Easiest thing to do to help mesmer sustained damage in PvE is to make phantasms a proper summon like Necro minions. That way they can stay out and help you as you clear trash mobs, and you don’t necessarily have to wait 30 seconds to get all 3 phantasms out while fighting a champion.
And from there its easy to make them more active. Have them execute their attack/effect once when summoned, and then change the skill itself to that effect/attack. That way you get to choose when they attack and whatnot.
i think the best solution would be to have more weapons that perform like scepter. not in function mind you, but in that they don’t create phantasms, but have skills that do significant damage on their own. That’s why i’m seriously hoping that the axe leak is incorrect, because that would mean they need to solve two problems that mesmers have at once; sustained melee presence and skills that do damage that aren’t phantasms. (assuming the axe isn’t ranged. which it better not be.)
if mesmer got a ranged weapon, they could at least address the issue of phatasms being the dominant form of damage.
You won’t find much disagreement on this forum, but ANet seems happy with the status quo.
that’s a problem.
i don’t know about you guys, but seeing my phantasms get obliterated in enemy zergs before they even do anything never fails to put a cute little frown on my face, so it would be nice to have something more reliable.
thoughts?
do you seriously have that many legendaries and ascended armor pieces?
Yes.
I have neither the patience or the time for that. good for you i suppose.
I’ve often found it rude of people to join a game’s NA/English server and spam global/map with a language other than English. I personally try to avoid doing it myself if I play a game on a foreign server.
indeed, one does not move to another country and expect it and its people to adapt to you, rather than you adapting to it.
that being said, thank grenth for the koreans on my server. otherwise we’d have a rough trip in wvw.
I can see it now. The inevitable two hundred blades.
Why not just go the whole hog and strap 2 more to your feet, then hold a 5th in your teeth for 500 blades?
wow. not even rolf is that powerful.
do you seriously have that many legendaries and ascended armor pieces?
What’d be nice is introducing another set of weapons available to each class to accomodate for that expansion. I’ve listed some options to suit the current classes available.
Guardian – Axe(main hand)
Warrior – Staff
Mesmers – Hammer
Elementalists – Sword(main hand)
Ranger – Shield
Revenant – Greatsword
Necromancer – Torch
Engineer – Mace(main hand)
Thief – LongbowOnly these two weapons weren’t applied: -
- Scepter
- Focus
dagger is a much better choice for ranger.
You forgot reaper greatsword pull.
because it’s only a bit more useful than spectral grasp
sword pairs pretty well with rifle as a main weapon. sure it does less reliable damage than greatsword but, i wanted a block in wvw with some mobility.
i’m not a fan of dagger/dagger either, we know the deal now, Anet release a new spec, make it awesome.
imho if they do go down the d/d line they will end up replacing a/a which is supposed to be our fast attacking dual-wield crit happy weapon set, which in essence is what d/d will be.
instead of d/d they should release the inevitable “titan’s grip” spec (dual wielding 2 handers.
its always imminent for every warrior class in every mmo,
big really really slow whirling attacks with GS or really slow arcing pounding attacks with hammer.I can see it now. The inevitable two hundred blades.
Maybe if some (most?) other classes wouldn’t have 101 passive defenses which make them almost untouchable, AND at the same time damage close or on par to thieves’, the thieves wouldn’t actually run away?
A warrior do have that and a warrior can still wear nike shoes.
Yeah and my neighbour has a bigger house.
If you remove warrior nike shoes than whats left of warrior? a inferior guardian.
Remove Thief mobility than whats left?
If you remove mesmer teleport than whats left?Sorry but there is balance and there is whining because you dont have it.
Ps, here is a little tip: immob warrior while they use rush (not before) this will kitten them up. and if they used berserker stance then big deal let him run.
If you remove thief mobility, what’s left? Necro burst without the stealth and shroud
if you remove mesmer teleport whats left? Distortion and a myriad of block options.
let it be known i want neither of those things to happen. counters however, that’s another story.
i have a feeling that spellsword is something that might be reserved for an elite spec.
I would personally like to see a class use a greatsword as if it didn’t weigh next to nothing.
^^; I would love a character’s attack pattern with a great sword to be similar to the Farron Greatsword from Dark souls 3 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUOIKfqkijY skip ahead to 2:14) .. Yea it probably won’t happen though:(
I guess the original ranger short sword 1 was quite flashy, but it got removed xD
it got removed due to practicality purposes. i can’t tell you how many times i’ve gotten killed on invulnerable guards in a borderland becuase of the unwanted leap.
LOL Yea I guess that would make sense. I had to give up my short sword ranger… To many groups figured out I wasn’t actually strategically withdrawing when I went flying off cliff edges with cool animations on.
YEP. done that too. seen it happen to allied players, you know every time it happened you could feel a disturbance in the force.
back on the point though, it would be nice to see some new animations. would be cool if a class that got staff next and used it like a magic weapon in the way mages did in dragon age 2/inquisition instead of simply a conduit.
(edited by Lightsbane.9012)
i think what will eventually happen is there will be a severe cutback in the amount of servers, and server linking may be a step in that direction. EOTM’s model for example.
for engi, there is no weapon currently good enough to be an off set for hammer.
We had the hobosacks removed… so, never say never.
Say…. very very very very very very improbable.
maaaan that took years.
