if you could have your dream weapon for mesmer what would it be, and what would be the mechanics behind it?
mine would be something with melee sustain (hammer or something brand new) IE ranger’s greatsword with a bit more damage on it.

As popular as staff is, I do not see it being buffed substantially.
Faster projectile velocity would be nice and Reaper’s Mark could stand a shorter cool down now that Elite traits boons, conditions, and dps dwarf Terror’s condition damage.
staff is popular because there is no other 1200 range option. give necromancer a longbow, see its popularity diminish.
Things are popular due to fluff.
I just had a stupid necromancer camping axe in fractal scale 95.
Because he liked the idea of being a necro tank and using an axe.
Similarly plenty of necros who crafted Nevermore and just want to use a subpar weapon on the class because of looks.
This game is full of idiots that somehow make it to upper endgame content.
please assume all my posts are directed towards pvp/wvw. i have no interest in this game’s pve.

We ask for active defense a lot and if we get shield, there’s a good chance we might get that active defense.
i’m going to disagree, every time arenanet gives the class some sort of defense, it’s at the cost of something else not denied to another class.
i’d like to see the necromancer version of scrapper, minus the hammer and techy bits. what i mean is something that excels in 1v1 scenarios, and can do well in group encounters. that means blocks (shield, which i’m too cynical to believe we will get) or speed/leaps/burst (via sword)
Though it would be a pretty redundant weapon now, I’d choose Scythe. And when I say scythe, I don’t mean the oversized shadow/feather one we get in Reaper’s Shroud. I mean full on Dervish scythe.
i wouldn’t mind this at all, but what kind of shroud would you introduce with it?

it was my understanding that the white mantle were using the Centaur as a proxy force to wage war against the crown of Kryta (and subsequently its people), and now that we know the mantle is alive and well..

Yeah, same feeling here. Monkey king stance with staff would actually make sense for thieves, however not revenants. Which still doesn’t make hammer fighting stance appropriatly looking for staff stance.
revenant’s are much more martial artsy with their staff auto attack than daredevil is.
maybe something like this could be added with the probability of an offhand axe.
if new weapons are created, i think some of them should be reserved for core specs.
There i was, in the war for the mists. there were many enemies around, but I know strength was not enough to get the items from them that I required. One of them had the famed potato of truth, and i desired it more than all other items. So i set my mind to the task of acquiring this from said enemy.
our forces clashed, many wound up lying on the cold ground, many honored warriors lay at my feet. I knew I would miss them.
I decided that I had seen enough death for one day, and returned to the other, more boring plane of existence, Tyria. All these weird looking people with their shiny void swords, and disco ball maces, I was confused. Then I saw him.

I decided it was best not to fight him, considering all the pesky lionguard around, and instead climbed upon my gallant steed, Trehearne the Vivacious, a magic carpet of some renown, but not as famous as the potato of truth. There were only so many options available to me, so I dug my spurs gently into the sides of my magic carpet, and yelled ‘ONWARD, TRUSTY STEEDCARPET!’ It was then my enemy saw me, and drew his bow, unconcerned about the lionguard, and started shooting. I told him I just wanted his potatoes, and he looked at me as if I was a crazed skritt. Then I picked them up and bought my precursor and crafted my Frostfang and all was right in the world.
i don’t expect them to announce an expansion, i just want to know what’s being presented at the convention. they might just have a small booth or something.
works for me. i will remain skeptical if it tips the favor to havoc over zerging.

I browsed the E3 homepage to see if anet was in attendance and sure enough, they were. i can’t seem to find any information anywhere about it though. help?
Why was this implemented? I read the reasons in the patch notes but they did not answer the overall question of ‘why’ for me.
It also had guild halls which served as your home map for your guild versus guild battles. It was very much true to its name.

the damage on guardian’s greatsword chain is quite similar, meaning the last hit does 200 less damage (on my build) than the last hit of the greatsword for reaper, but does so 1/4 second slower than guardian.
my main issue with it is the same as everyone else’s, skill #2. it’s very hard to land both attacks on the same target in a 1v1 scenario.
i would assume that most of the seraph force is in maguuma.
So a general rule of warfare is to strike where your opponent is weakest, and for the humans, right now that place is Divinity’s reach. Why would the Centaur ignore this opportunity? Why is there no further content about them?
well flails are a much different kind of weapon than a mace.
It would probably be pointless ultimately due to balance and theme.
If engineers had swords for instance, half the players wouldn’t use them as engineers aren’t a sword class.
The half that did use them would just compare them to other sword classes and to the other engineer weapons and every other thread would be about how they’re over powered or underpowered and what could be done about it.That’s not to say we should never get new things, scrapper got hammer and that’s the perfect time to do it, with what is essentially a new build given the new scrapper elite trait line allowing you to do stuff to the new scrapper elite weapon.
So in actual fact gated behind an elite my be exactly the right way to introduce the new stuff which will leave the core builds where they are, allowing (re)balancing to take place with known variables.
i don’t see why sword wouldn’t work for an engineer. i imagine them making it into something like how elementalist’s daggers function.
what do you guys think? i believe staff could’ve been a much better weapon if it wasn’t tied to the passive nature of ventari.
then again, the condi clear is so very much needed.

GW2 needs to get rid of scaled zones.
I say if you’re considering level scaling then just don’t have levels at all since they then serve no good purpose. Instead everything should scale up to 80 but have its level hidden leaving crafting tiers for rarities and stat sets instead of levels. The entire game needs a reboot from the ground up if it’s going to be competitive against today’s top offerings.

some classes (more than others) need more weapons. recommending for future large content drops that Anet seriously consider adding to the classes current kitten nal without gating them behind elite specializations.
I am wondering when does ANET plan to update charr posture by making them stand more straight?
This has been frequently discussed over the years but no official effort was being made.
To remind, by doing this player base of charrs would raise and most of clipping issues would be solved.
this is an image of the shaman/mage class of charr that appeared in guild wars 1. considering charrs can use magic, i agree it should be an option in character creation.
the changing of the armor color on scrapper is also…unsightly.

yes, but i have a feeling if we’re ever to get it on land it would be in the form of an elite specialization.
so, in going with an idea borrowed from a recent elite spec design contest, i would like to run my own.
The prize will be 50 gold to the winner, with the contest lasting from now until next sunday (june 12th)
The catch is it must be based around the spear.
in your submission please include:
shroud skills
traits (realistic, recommend using existing traits as guidelines.)
weapon skills
utility skills
realistic cooldowns.
the reasoning behind spear as the weapon i would see for this contest is the fact that it could change how necromancer is played drastically. for those of you asking ‘how would it be different than greatsword?’ well, think of how different a claymore and spear are in reality, one damages by weight and power, whereas the spear damages with speed and deadly precision.
Spear skills could also give the necromancer much needed mobility. I’m really curious as to what the community could do with a spear centered elite specialization and look forward to submissions.

the difference with pve in this game to the pve in other games is that there is no objective to complete in doing the pve in guild wars 2. you do it for the sake of doing it. (i would say gold, but once you have everything you need in this game, gold serves little purpose)
step into wvw once. see if the name isn’t relevant.

I am an experienced casual player. 13K APs, 950 WVW rank, Closer to the Stars, done dungeons, raids, crafted ascended gear etc, etc. I’ve read quite a few honest postings about frustrations with HOT, and the trend in responses has been to respond to the OP by saying “learn to play better” or “I did it just fine, there is something the matter with you.”
I personally find HOT uninviting as a solo PVE player. It lacks the difficulty progression structure present in most games. It demands group (zerg) participation for individual rewards. It requires the development of mobility masteries to effectively access map areas efficiently. It loads the player with an ocean of inventory filling currencies or keys. It creates an unprecedented level of grind for goals.
I’ve completed the HOT personal story with a rev, and moved partially through with 4 other characters.
I’ve completed the new specializations with all classes. I find them fun and interesting additions to the game (imo the best part of the expansion) – getting HOT HPs pretty annoying of course. I must admit, I turned in some WVW credits to unlock some HOT HPs.
I was really looking forward to HOT, but am truly ambivalent about the expansion maps at this point – even with the nerfs.
I find myself now checking in, hitting the daily and getting out.
Pretty sure I won’t buy another GW2 expansion – especially if it follows the map design and skill progression structure HOT model. It’s a shame – I am a long time dedicated GW player – sorry to see the franchise pick this path.
My core point is, telling an OP that is frustrated with HOT to “L2P” or “I did it, what is the matter with you?” is missing the mark. There are authentic design departures here, and they are not friendly to the casual player.

it was great the first few weeks, and it’s back to business as usual. people still stack winning servers. it’s not a problem Anet can fix.

Somewhat, but you could fund multiple legendary weapons with what it costs to fund scribing, still.

this problem, again is a result of scribing not being changed. I don’t like how it works, I don’t like the fact that i have to donate items to a single person so that they may provide items for a guild hall/claimed objectives. it’s still a lot of trust to place on someone you do not, and probably will never know. it’s a horrible system.
Somewhat often? I’d rather complain about the energy cost and reliability as a interrupt.

so far, i’m enjoying the server merges, it brings more people into the maps…..

the first few weeks of this were great, then it dawned on me, that despite the server merges, the population remained the same. when the merger happened, I was expecting to see a lot of former enemies, now allies, on the maps (IE, wvw guilds that i’ve fought against) and i Just don’t see them at all.
ignoring for a moment the fact that the volume of players into maps has increased but the load of players the maps can handle has not, it’s a very…varied experience. the first few weeks I couldn’t get into the maps at all, now i’m lucky to run into anyone from the server i’m paired with, and i’d really like to. I want to see what they think about the battles that are going on, to learn their strategies and see what they would do in leadership positions. is it the larger servers fault for overshadowing the smaller one too much? Or is the bandaid applied dealing with too big of a wound?
Maybe it’s just my tier, which, I don’t even know what it is anymore considering the servers i’m fighting against.
with yet another season (and a rumor that wvw tournaments will no longer occur) of pvp that…loads of people will tune in to see, it’s very clear that wvw is still not in the limelight it deserves.
my main question is, was this only meant to be a temporary fix?
Commonly requested is spear taken for land use and then made for a paragon-like class. That could be interesting for a Guardian
Focus perhaps for Rev to be closer to a Ritualist
Shortbow for ele. I have no reason other than the legendary compliments my ele’s look. Seems like a good enough reason to me..
