As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.
i’m hoping engineers next spec is ranged, and that it gets something totally edgy and ridiculous…that fires rockets or something. why not out of a greatsword?
Rockets out of a greatsword??
did you not notice the word ‘ridiculous’ in the original post?
starkiller base.
So I’m doing open world completion since I still have 50% of the original world to explore. I’m also approximately 50% complete with unlocking the scrapper elite specialization. I keep reading How much better , and how especially in PVP core is weaker than scrapper, so I’m wondering, at what point in the scrapper unlock does it become more efficient to use scrapper over core?
hammer is a much better weapon than anything else the engineer can bring to the table.

Yeah those numbers aren’t in place for a reason right? Ever been in a 3 way SM fight with 5 seconds of skill lag? Yeah , I’d like it to not be like that allll the time, thanks.
i totally understand that, and i do suppose that’s why EOTM is a thing. but you can’t just throw six servers together in a matchup on maps with room only enough for three.
while I think this was a good idea, the first thing I would’ve done if i was a developer, was increase the amount of players that can be in the maps. I would have done this before even thinking to merge the servers.
May The Stars Guide You in your quest to get rid of this.
UP FOR A CHALLENGE?
IVE GOT DEALS YOU WONT BELIEVE!
I don’t know. A spear is… a pointy stick. Kind of like a staff only.. sharper? I’m not sure what cool animations you’re imagining or how they’re going to vastly change gameplay but who knows.. maybe they could find a way to make it work.
maybe they should find a way, you mean. underwater weapons serve no purpose anymore.
Anet, you have proven that you can throw a greatsword on a necromancer and it can work. You have proven that a mesmer can wield a shield effectively.
I think it’s time you let spears have their day. Perhaps they should be added as land weapons in the next quarterly update, and as late as the next expansion. Not only will they give us some really cool animations potentially, if they are added as core weapons they will vastly change gameplay for the classes without needing to make more elite specializations.
IMO Shortbow Staff and Pistol was really in need of a less silly/whimsical option.
yeah, but we didn’t need another axe. not to mention that not even the new staff fits anything but mesmer, elementalist and necromancer. completely leaving out the three new classes that can use staff.
there is no spoon
I’m kind of hoping engi gets a spec that gets staff, but does something unique with it.
i’d like to see the concept of the plasma weapon skins developed further.
I think you should either play pre-HoT necromancer or be forced to wear all pink if you play a faceroll reaper.
i think you should call the Cenobites because you’re a straight up masochist
As I play this game, I noticed that a lot of armors and outfits tend to lean toward the Mesmer classes. While not inherently bad, but I think the Necromancer could use some love too in terms of fashion. (Hell, even the Ascalonian ghost necros aren’t even wearing their contemporary Ascalonian armors.)
You guys have so much previous work to expand upon and work with. Bring back the light leather, metal, and bones. Please? We need armor that makes a statement and says, “Yes, I the dead are my playthings and I dabble in the dark arts”.
or simply “yes i am of the scholar class and intelligent enough to wear something more defensive than a dress.”
I think we should have one called Mercenary, wherein we just copy the living kitten out of everything Jango fett can do. replace conditions on pistols with direct burst.
I would LOVE GS for revenant.
Pistol I would say no too b/c you already have hammer as your ranged weapon set.
We have hammer as a POWER weapon. Its fairly bad for a condi build.
Pistols serves as condi weps for thieves and engineers.Let me correct you abit here, only engineers use pistols as condi weapons. For thieves D/D is condi build and pistols are power weapons.
funniest sentence written on the forums. clearly you haven’t discovered p/d.
unless toughness is de-nerfed, then….yeah.
Hai,
I just wanted to express how TIRED I am of harvesting these stupid things. They only give 1-3 things. Often its 2 herb ones and 1 other. And the herb ones of course are the ones that usually make you have to harvest them 1-3 TIMES EACH for SINGLE ITEMS. Why do I have to harvest…..3+1+1…nodes 5 times before I can leave the tower and be on my way! They are dumb, i ahte them. They delay the game…people harvest them cause you gotta take whatever you can get to make money in this mode to pay off the costs of playing it. No more explaining, its straightforward. Nobody likes doing it, it impedes the gamemode, it takes forever, many other reasons…..the end.
Solutions:
-remove them
-make it so i don’t have to harvest 1 node 3 times to get 3 items. Give 2 nodes per tower/camp and just increase their output by +1 so they are like regular pve nodes. And make it so I don’t have to refarm the node more than once! If I get extra strikes make it give me whatever the strike gives me automatically.
-give me the stuff automatically upon taking the objective!Solution I like:
-Grow the stuff! As the objective upgrades it gives access to nodes! So right off the bat after you take something there are no nodes to farm! Nothing to worry about! As it upgrades though nodes and stuff to farm appears! This encourages people to ‘visit’ stuff they otherwise ‘wouldnt’ bother visiting (recall the old upgrade system?) creating a sense of population and presence on the maps. Now there is less excuse for every objective you visit to be completely empty. I mean if we did something like this maybe just maybe we could remove the ‘contested’ status of objectives like the game designers originally wanted! I mean thats a totally different story but this basic idea is something everyone should be able to appreciate. And people obviously wouldnt have access to the nodes of enemy borderlands if any of this were the case…you would have to take the objective and grow ur own. The nodes can have their own colour strip (red/blue/green) across the bottom to show ownership. It also gives more reward for guarding and defending objectives to fortify them. Why? Cause everyone likes to play farmer! Do pleb work and at the end of the day you get to see something grow and re-affirm that your efforts have ‘fed’ the people you pretend you care about! This game shouldn’t be about pve and pvp! It should be about growing an empire of farming nodes so you can make money!
so because you can’t seem to allow yourself to ignore these nodes, you want them removed? of all the things that should be complained about, you found this? seriously? this is what you settled on?

As a person that has been playing GW2 since launch, I highly disagree with the notion that HoT was “half done” when Anet released it. HoT brought into the game enough content worthy to have been called a full expansion. This said, here are three reasons why I think players are hating on the HoT expansion at the current time.
1. Raiding was not available at launch. I don’t think it would be a good idea to delay the entire expansion one month to have this bundled in with HoT at launch, but it is one of the core new game systems that really should have been ready to play.
2. Some of the content that was included in the expansion was simply not enjoyable to play. One example of this is the new WvW BL maps. Those new maps look like they took a lot of resources to complete, but the end product was not enjoyed by the WvW community. You can write an entire thread dedicated to why this is, technically is it much better than the old alpine map, yet it alienated the WvW community. Another example is the Dragons Stand map. An entire map dedicated to giving the community the elder dragon fight that wasn’t there with the Zhaitan fight. The last fight is awesome and really makes you feel in an epic encounter, but using an entire zone to get to that section makes the map one of the lease played for me personally.
3. This is the most important point of the three, the frequent content patches people enjoyed after the original GW2 launch simply hasn’t happened. HoT has been out for months now, why hasn’t the next phase of the living story started yet? I personally love doing it, and I’m sure other do as well. In fact, apart from balance patches and the raid encounter I already spoke about, there hasn’t been much new content added to the game. I understand that Anet split their resources 50/50 with live content and expansion work, but where is the live content?
Those are my three points on why people think HoT is lacking content, its not. The problem is the content that is there, some of it people do not enjoy doing, and this is a learning experience Anet need to take away from HoT. Also, the lack of content updates to HoT means people have been, for the last 6 months, been playing the same expansion content over and over. There was enough content in HoT to entertain players for a period of time until updates would carry the baton further. The problem at the moment is the content patches are not there and HoT is still holding the baton and is getting tired.
you mention the expansion being delayed a month for the raid. five months later, the advertised legendary(rumor: no special effects on it) armor still cannot be obtained because the raid is still not finished. not that I ever cared about obtaining something with no practical significance (save for frostfang, i enjoy that.), i’m not about to wait another five months for however many raid wings there will be.
if work on new legendaries ever continues, i strongly recommend they fit the themes of the new classes/elite specs that are made.
I dislike the “it’s explained in the lore” response, because it’s totally unnecessary in my eyes. It’s like asking why we never see the character put Pokémon in their pockets, or why Starcraft does not, to my knowledge, have you constructing stars. It’s silly.
Read the lore.
you don’t attract new players expecting guild vs guild pvp by denying it to them with the ‘but it’s the lore’ excuse.
…Did anyone seriously purchase this game because they saw the title and assumed it meant guilds would fight other guilds in a GvG PvP mode?
Because if you did, c’mon, do a little more research next time. There are guilds and there are wars, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the game is focused one gameplay mode by that name.
i would assume that might have been a serious part of it? kind of like making a game called the elder scrolls and having it be about pizza.
Read the lore.
you don’t attract new players expecting guild vs guild pvp by denying it to them with the ‘but it’s the lore’ excuse.
I wasn’t the one to name the game either. Read the lore is the correct answer to the question of why it’s named the way it is.
i’m aware of why it’s named guild wars, however a new player buying the game assuming there will be guild wars isn’t wrong to assume there will be. why is it the new players responsibility to seek out the lore?
Read the lore.

i think the HP system is outdated. the painfully low hp of some classes seriously holds them back, especially considering the new tools at their disposal.
while daredevil is a great elite spec, the 10k base hp makes it very difficult to play daredevil as intended, a brawler.
i support pistol if it is mainhand.
druid should have been more like core necro and staff should’ve been melee. a dedicated healer in guild wars is like taking a bandaid to a gun fight.
should have reflected the new classes and elite specs that could’ve used them. with the coming of revenant and daredevil, i was expecting something that resembled Bo for the legendary, only a lot flashier, like a plasma Bo staff or something. a scythe looking greatsword would’ve been sweet too, maybe even a very teched out hammer for scrapper, or something more suited to revenant. Oh well!
Another one /15char.
And yes, the friday sure does help. I actually ahd to queue to get into jade quary borderland!!!1
of course it’s active in tier one on a RESET NIGHT.
-_-
I think Ulgoth was meant to be the culiminate that story. He could use a re-work though like other bosses. The problem is, to finish it truly in this “living, breathing world” would require removing centaur related events and quests and replacing them. That isn’t within scope of what is going to be achieved.
Despite any claim to the contrary, GW2 is a very linear story and the narrow thread we run along for the story will always conflict with wanting to flesh out some of the interesting world stories.
it’s disappointing, sort of contradicts a ‘living world’ design. a world is not living if it does not change.
how is something so immensely important to the entire population of divinity’s reach so neglected as far as content?
i don’t know about you, but i’ve changed the stats on my frostfang maybe twice in the two years i’ve had it. if the reason you got your legendary items is not because of how it looks, you’re a rare breed indeed.
To be fair, armor is even more useful in this regard, since if you equip a weapon on a character, you’re pretty much defining the role you’ll play, like Scepter on a Necro is a condi weapon, so you’d always want condi stats. With armor though, you might have situations where you’d want to completely swap your build, and in such cases, stat-shifting armor would be more useful. Not to mention being able to shift it from character to character.
For all he talk about “elitists”, it’s the other side of the coin thats been getting increasing vocal and venomous, and not just in this game. Liking harder content such as raids dose not automatically mean you think you are higher than other players and make you elitist.
True, but advocating that everyone else doesn’t deserve the rewards you do would be elitist. I have no problem with people who like raids. I do have a problem with people that vocally attack those who would like to see “easy mode” raids or some equivalent way for more casual players to participate and work towards the same rewards.
funny you mention armor, i’ve changed my armor stats even less.
Everybody EXCEPT 709 didn’t vote for this.
Over seven BILLION people didn’t vote for this!
just like how 6.97 billion people won’t be voting for the next american president?
i can make moot points too.
i totally forgot he was reworked, thanks for reminding me lol
is it fair to compare dragon’s tooth to true shot? it seemed to make sense to me because of both the cooldown and the damage, only DT has all of the risk and seems to have far less of a reward.
Thoughts?
the rewards given for completing a raid in the time it takes to complete them is better spent farming the silverwastes for profit instead.
the reason i don’t think raids work for GW2 is because of their point: legendary armor. not only is it not obtainable right now, but it’s just a skin. you’ll have to do a bit more convincing to make me want to do this kind of content.
think of what raids in other games reward you with, then compare them to GW2’s rewards for raiding. they are minimal to nothing in comparison.I’m affraid that you completly missed the point of “legendary items”. There are not “just a skin”. They are usefull item that you can adapt to your build as you wish, whenever and wherever you want. Skin is just a very tiny part of what make a legendary.
i don’t know about you, but i’ve changed the stats on my frostfang maybe twice in the two years i’ve had it. if the reason you got your legendary items is not because of how it looks, you’re a rare breed indeed.
Elite specializations are just another build option. They’re not necessarily better than the existing builds, they just present different play style and build opportunities.
If you’re running a good build you should still be able to counter most things that people can throw at you. Understanding the elite specs would be a smart place to understand, but the only disadvantage you’re at is that you can’t use an elite spec (which is only a disadvantage if you wanted to use one).
this is completely untrue of engineer, necromancer, revenant, mesmer, warrior, elementalist, and thief. not to mention how much a part of the meta dragonhunter is. Ever seen the looney toons episodes where they constantly bring out bigger guns? Well, the elite specs are the bigger guns.

A big part of the issue with Wildstar is that they focused on the hardcore players at max level. That left the more casuals with nothing new to do.
Now GW2 is following the same path. They are releasing new raid content which is of interest to a minority of the players, , and is mostly a once a week activity for most of those who actually do play it.
So, why is ANET going down this path? There is nothing wrong with adding raid wings. the problem is when it is the ONLY content being released.
problem with this logic is that wildstar is not as old as gw2.
how about class request instead? heh
i think the scepter auto attack should hit three targets. thoughts?
would also be nice to have more than three melee staff skins.
I’m about to make a suggestion spreadsheet thread for necromancers to deal with balance inconsistencies (see links in signature for examples)
Before I do so, I’d like to collect information from other players:
What are the current balance problems of necromancer/reaper?
What is too strong and overbearing in build diversity?
What is too weak and overshadowed by stronger options?
How is your experience in PvE / PvP / and WvW?I look forward to reading everyone’s response.
ignoring the questions for the main reason that this has been discussed more than once for years now.
here’s a reply to the title of your post:
the necromancer is one of those classes that is either a god, or count chocula. pre reaper, it was count chocula. now it is, in even barely competent hands, Hades.
for long time Necro forum posters and readers such as myself, have nothing left but cynicism. this class is both pushed forward and held back by its shroud.
I dont think that we will be getting a 2h axe because you can obtain a greatsword skin called the mordrem battleaxe from the Axemaster in HoT
yes and it’s one handed.
Relax, Aidan. I’m not perfect, but that wasn’t a flub. Colin did make the statement, so I was just repeating the core message that he shared.

get your tinfoil hats for britney’s next album!
That’s why you should research stuff before you buy it.
Anyway, the name “Guild Wars” originated from an event called “guild wars” that happened in Tyria (the game’s world) a long, long time akitten
ay so do you think that it’s the new player’s responsibility to look this up or the game developer? I mean when i first heard of the game i thought of actual guild wars, not some martin-esque power struggle that isn’t even mentioned at all in any point of the game.
Is the title of the game misleading? a bit
does that matter? not really sure.
would the game do a bit better if it had actual guild wars instead of just implying with its name that it does? a bit.
reclaimed staff was a start, and would be much better if it was symmetrical.
anyway, can there be more like it please?
I like my 3 leather girls ant not one wear a trench coat nor a mini. I’ve much more problems to dress my 3 cloth-girls.
PS: Can you guess the 3 professions from left to right?
medium armor on females: what armor?
medium armor on males: my stylist was the matrix cast
a simple solution to making lolspamtradechat stop is to turn it off when you aren’t trying to trade something.
the reason anet won’t put this in is its playerbase has a horrible understanding of this, well one reason at least.
I think mainhand pistol should perform similarly to the other examples of mainhand pistols in the game, such as including volleys of bullets, etc. i think the pistol should have a sort of burst on it, either in the form of a charged up strike IE Trueshot, or like unload.
I think maybe this elite spec for mesmer should inherit the thief’s ability to influence their third mainhand skill based on offhand weapons.
