Interesting i think i missed those mortars that can hit the desert, meanwhile the issue with the game might not be the keeps design, maybe its because even if a server has players they are all stacked in one map, cause theres no point on defending, almost no one cares about ppt.

Yeah, there is a lack of reason to care for PPT or just winning or playing competitively in general. Because of this map mechanics and dynamics break down. One of the biggest mistakes Arena Net made with Desert is releasing the map without giving the communities a reason to play on it competitively. When they released it, everyones main focus was finding the ease of fights and the fighters of this game tend to just roam for the fights and stay away from objectives even though objective can grant fights. Yet, if they had released the map during a WvW season for instanced we’d get the true feel of what the map is suppose to be.

The game is so stale right now, without goals and reasons to stay competitive everything breaks down.

All maps have spots where attackers can sit and long siege and the best way the enemy can stop them is by sending forces to them, or countering it outside the keep. I believe this is intended. I find sieging Desert BL way more strategic than sieging Alpine. Alpine is very basic and straight forward.

In Fire keep, I haven’t seen anything thats not counter-able. Unless you’re talking about trebbing from the top of the desert down to the keep walls. But even that’s counter-able when you use the towers that poke up from the desert overtop. They even have mortars placed there for this purpose.

The only thing I can think of is the huge mountain inside Air keep that you can treb inner from. The only way to counter it effectively is by sending forces up narrow stairs.
However, I think that spot is a necessity and there are ways to prevent the enemy from capturing your keep when they utilize it.

I believe it’s a necessity, because Air keep inner is pretty hard to take down because of the very high walls and the respawns when you have the jump pads make it easy to get back. Because this keep has very high walls, the mountain in my opinion is a viable option.

I’m not a fan of the new name plates. WvW fighter meta involves identifying single targets and normally this is done by rank. Because of this, I turned it off and had my entire guild do the same.

I also do not believe this should be a feature that’s turned on automatically but rather an option. This is specifically for new players.

You have to be specific. What keep are you referring to.

Desert BL gives an advantage to the home team not a disadvantage. Using this week in Tier 1 to state your claim isn’t right. Map politics in the current match make it so TC can’t hold the map because BG pressures it when TC has very little numbers.

Bloodlust is actually a pretty big deal even that 1 point. Because thats 1 point per stomp up to 5 people and killing someone grants 1 point anyway. Thus this is a total of 10 points. In a skirmish that last 2 hours then end scores look around 3k to 5k thus a single person with 5 people and netting 10 per kill is a pretty big thing that can determine skirmishes.

One issue with every BL map that we have is that they’re all mechanically broken. Alpine was designed around the orb and since the removal I feel like the map meta has degraded and became very stale. The Desert map has an entire center that takes up a large portion of the map that’s simply useless.

I also believe the keep lords are to hard to kill on Desert STILL, simply because how defensive the keeps are on the map and their special abilities added with things like EWPs make it very hard to assault and take any T3 keep on that map thats defended by large numbers.

I find the Desert BL fights better to be honest. The issue is certain servers tend to avoid the map and because of this even the people who voted for the map avoid it because there is no one to find out on it. This week in Tier 1 is a prime example of that, MAG avoids the map like the plague and it’s largely a battleground for TC and BG.

Alliances is the answer.

Not fun to get steamrolled with a blob all the time during NA hours, and we felt like we were carrying JQ’s NA time some (if not most) days alongside Hard. Also couldn’t really recruit for the guild well despite trying for months on JQ, so it was a choice between BG and Mag (since TC is imploding). BG was closed, so Mag was the last choice.

I agree with Nuzt. Reset the numbers are skewed but WvW needs to be blown up, overhauled and glicko history erased.

If this matchup could be maintained, I wouldn’t mind. There were great fights in almost every timezone this weekend. JQ could use some more NA guilds. TC could use more SEA. But it was nice to just see people showing up and having fights with bags flowing on all three sides.

JQ and TC used map politics to flip T3 objectives which makes for challenging and interesting situations.

Guilds looking for the T1 atmosphere of populated and challenging fights should consider JQ or TC.

This is silly. First the only reason everyone is trying because TC and JQ are in do or die mode.

BG doesn’t have to try hard to win or be competitive.
FA didnt even want to fight you why would they break your waypoints.
MAG is a server with a different mentality. They don’t want to fight your T3 waypoints and

+1 I made a mistake and formed an alliance years ago from BG guilds and we left. We made them out manned in all time zones and they haven’t won a match. ANET needs to open BG so I can move all 9 guilds back to make WvW great again.

I feel like Arena Net just reacts without understanding. So yeah You are right. If we did something like this or we super stacked a server then Arena Net would indeed react. yet our communities always have great foresight on whats to happen.

Im not complaining about JQ being too stacked they are not too stacked currently for the fights at hand. I want them to allow for the communities to be healthy and not eat each other. I don’t want my community to be eaten by yours nor do I want mine to eat yours. The glicko adjustment realistically forced what was already turning into the stacking of a monster server due the the nature of the current mechanics in the game and the opening of Blackgate.

The glicko adjustments are nothing new, and seem like an attempt to adjust for matchup imbalance, also it doesnt guarantee a matchup, it only increases the chances. Don’t you think that FA or MAG would be a better matchup for TC rather then JQ? In terms of population and coverage, this is not about personal preference.

I dont want servers to be destroyed either, but it also falls upon that server community to maintain its servers competitiveness.

You miss what I’m saying. Overall there is great pressure to stack to compete against BG. The Adjustment +100 to JQ glicko means JQ got adjusted 100 points to their rating which would mean by predictions JQ will gain over 150 glicko sending them to rank 2? Tier 1. After losing 3 to 4 guilds roughly 400 players. JQ and Tkittenerally have been in an arms race. Being serious here reset match up this week can and probably will determine the next wave of transfers.

Remember we still have over 1.5 months to the next revaluation what type of imbalance can we create in the mean time do to whats happening. My talks here are from a leader perspective knowing all that I know and all the meetings that have taken place as a leader you can clearly see the chain thats about to start.

Furthermore, adjust JQ but for what reason? I seriously am curious. Considering this week is the first week in which JQ literally Beat TC by great odds. In fact the previous weeks TC has beaten JQ by great odds. So what changed? Welp. I know JQ just lost roughly 300 to 400 players which actually made them open up. So how does this equate to an adjustment.

Maybe its due to MAG but then again they would have adjusted MAG down if thats the case. Regardless adjustments it taking it out of the players hands greatly and will cause a collapse where otherwise JQ’s glicko seem to be fine in fact they still had a chance to rise in the first place.

Arena Net Seriously. As a guild leader and a major part of the Guild Wars 2 community. You tell me what to do. Is it your objective to have everyone compete at the level of BG? Because every single action you’ve taken is starting to point to that direction. However, your New Worlds post is the complete opposite. Stacking to compete with BG means the demise of other communities. It means the imbalance of multiple worlds and a stagnant Tiers.

Moving on, This week and the stability of the servers now greatly resides on where we are placed during reset. This week has a high probability of starting a wave of transfers.

If its your plan to give BG competition by allowing the stacking of another server then you let me know. Ill be sure to tell my entire alliance to get this under way.

Arena Net lock Blackgate right now. Just check your logs and see the mass transfers just already started. This was a mistake. I understand that this is automated but still a very bad mistake. BG is at risk of absorbing very large guilds on off peak hours when they already have that coverage. BG equates to World 1: 95% and we all know it.

Right now there is no server to compete against BG and you’ve made it so that BG can receive more numbers. The amount of guilds now deciding to go to BG is anywhere from 6 to 8 guilds..this does not include singular players. This effects coverage largely and goes against what you’re trying to do.

The longer BG stays open, the more imbalance created. The more you’ll have to resort to forcing movement of players.

no use arguing looks like 60% are agreeing with me. Glicko has it’s issues but 1 up 1 down presents more issues. As it stands right now the Tiers are not locked and as we are reevaluated I see more balanced match ups happening. That alone is creating variety no need to dumb down the system for it when it’s here already.

Its not just one week its every other week. Which means every other week will be a blow out for higher tier servers which isn’t the same as it is now. Its very uncommon to see BG in Tier 2. That doesn’t happen too often but now imagine seeing BG in Tier 2 versus SBI. Now we have a major problem.

1 up 1 down creates dead match ups. Imagine the bottom of Tier 1 fighting the top of Tier 3 in Tier 2. Who will win? I wonder. Furthermore, 1 up 1 down allows it so you can manipulate the tiers easier thus deciding not only where your server is playing by tanking but other servers you’re not even on as well within a week time frame. Terrible idea.

People are voting for the rewards because the other vote is for a game breaking mechanic. The poll is simple. Do you want to break the game? Or do you want kittenty rewards?

There isn’t anything wrong with guilds being funded to servers. But what needs to happen is that there need to be regulation and control that can only be given by Arena Net. Servers structures do not do it and Server-links enable it.

CoR is working as intended. Don’t stand behind the gate unless you can take the pressure. CoRing through the gate is pretty much the same as someone attacking your rams through the gate. Working as intended.

How is it intended when it is reaching 900 range through the gate.

CoR hits 1,200 in range through gates because its not a projectile. It travels under the ground like an earth eruption by passing under the door. The same way a balistia or projectile can shoot through the upper crack of a door. The damage from CoR happens at your feet and because a door is a door there is no seal underneath.

I don’t see a problem with CoR hitting like it does. If they were to change it, I would want them to make all objects, damage and siege not being able to hit things through sealed doors. Because they can, and by mechanic of CoR, it’s working as intended.

That is also the reason why it gets stuck on uneven terrain. But it hasn’t stopped people qq’ing and requesting a bug fix, even though it is a likely intended mechanic.

As noted in a previous post of mine above, I kind of agree it’s not about the ‘server’… but it IS about the community, if you have one. For me it’s not “something to complain about”, but really is sadly enough a reality that we can’t do anything about now.

Shoot me for spitting into the wind I guess but I always hold out a little hope that something will change. Even, as I said above, permanently put us on ONE server. We’ll deal with the zergs etc.. it’s not that hard to roam a lot of the time depending on the time-slot. But it makes it much less of a dedication when you’re just doing it for the sake of running around as opposed to the host server of the period…

A server will only hold its link for so long because otherwise it creates an unbalanced matchup. Getting a link initiates the roller coaster effect, people transfer to your LINK rather then your actual host server because it is much cheaper. You can start winning all you want, it doesnt matter, eventually you will lose your link and not be able to compete because you were relying on the population that joined the linked server that was now taken away from you.

BG for example lost like half the matchups in the last linking, I think we lost like 3 of the last 4 weeks but look at the current scores and glicko, it hasnt effected us only the servers we were up against.

My point is stop relying on links, they are temporary short term boosts that can have drastic and negative long term effects. If you want a stable successful server, focus on growing your native population the way BG has over the years.

Linking would be better used for lower tiers to boost their populations, for higher tiers it is a double edged sword.

What you just said doesn’t point out as to why linking is making servers not competitive. In fact if you look before and after, each server is more competitive hence the rotation without a volatility reset. Regardless Links are a short term solution in a 2month cycle and using them for coverage will not work in any servers favor which is something I tried explaining to JQ who insist they need a link.

Regardless links has made more competitive servers not less. Just because you lose a match doesnt make it any less competitive. Telling me you lost matches cause you didnt have a link doesnt mean anything.

As noted in a previous post of mine above, I kind of agree it’s not about the ‘server’… but it IS about the community, if you have one. For me it’s not “something to complain about”, but really is sadly enough a reality that we can’t do anything about now.

Shoot me for spitting into the wind I guess but I always hold out a little hope that something will change. Even, as I said above, permanently put us on ONE server. We’ll deal with the zergs etc.. it’s not that hard to roam a lot of the time depending on the time-slot. But it makes it much less of a dedication when you’re just doing it for the sake of running around as opposed to the host server of the period…

Honestly I dont know why they didnt just link the lower tier servers together. That would have made more sense than to add more population to higher tiers which then produces the eventual roller coaster type of effect where there is incentive for bandwagoning that causes a server to rise then fall when it’s link is taken away.

Linking the bottom tiers and not linking the higher tiers creates a drastic imbalance. For 1 there is still your server Blackgate that has the entire game outnumbered to the point where no server can stand up against you. Secondly, the tiers are not locked nor is player movement so it would do harm to the game if they simply linked based off tier considering how rapid we are to move through the tiers once everyone is balanced.

How is it intended when it is reaching 900 range through the gate.

CoR hits 1,200 in range through gates because its not a projectile. It travels under the ground like an earth eruption by passing under the door. The same way a balistia or projectile can shoot through the upper crack of a door. The damage from CoR happens at your feet and because a door is a door there is no seal underneath.

I don’t see a problem with CoR hitting like it does. If they were to change it, I would want them to make all objects, damage and siege not being able to hit things through sealed doors. Because they can, and by mechanic of CoR, it’s working as intended.
