I’m mentally kicking myself for joining the Order of Whispers instead of the Vigil – the light armour provided from the Vigil (especially the legs) are actually quite nice.

It’s been a few years now, and light armour looks as amazing on female humans as ever – yet I find it severely lacking in the human male department.

On Mesmers, especially, I’d much prefer to wear coats and pants over dresses and robes – which, don’t get me wrong, works wonderfully on Elementalists and Necromancers, but are – in my own, humble opinion – not a great fit on the aristocratic master of illusion.

The Noble Count outfit has an amazing looking chestpiece! Alas, I don’t want to wear entire outfits, much preferring to mix and match myself.

Any word on coming light armour designs? Lyssa’s armour, perhaps?

As someone who partook only sporadically in the first season of the Living Story, season 2 makes no sense. I’ve been able to read a few short explanations that summarized season 1 – however, I start the first part of the season 2 story and am told to “go meet my friends”, and there are five characters I’ve never seen before. What’s worse – they treat me as if we’ve joined forces and saved the world together, but since I never saw them during my personal storyline, I assume they are all from the living story.

May I suggest you introduce a video or a quest, perhaps, where we can catch up? Or perhaps just add dialogue to these five NPC’s, “Oh, hello [Player Name], remember when we did X over at Y? Ah, those were the good old days, eh?”.

Does anyone know a good place to read up on these people (and everything else that happened during season 1) without spoiling too much of season 2?

I love this build in SPvP, and that’s without Perplexity runes. Having a full setup of cond. armour, I’d like to try this in everyday gaming as well.

How does this build do outside of WvW? Solo-roaming? Dungeons?

The repair did not seem to fix any issues. I will take a look at the VGA sticky to see if that might help.

I feel as if I’ve had this issue before, but I can’t for the life of my remember how I fixed it.

I’ve done a fresh install on my machine after a defragmentation a while back, and all my drivers are supposed to be up to date.

I’ve tried running the game in various graphical settings, in various resolutions and both as full screen, windowed and windowed fullscreen (my usual preferance).

The above players have given sound advice. If a Mesmer is doing anything other than using an auto-attack or running towards you – that’s the real Mesmer. If it’s running away from you, dodging, using spells or abilities that aren’t auto-attack – that’s the real mesmer.

Why do you spend so much time making Necromancer whine threads in the Mesmer forums?

Truly? I’ve tested Blink mostly in Fractals of the Mist and Ascalonian Catacombs Explorable Mode, and I did not seem to be able to pass mobs undetected through clever use of blink.

Are there any particular places or mobs you could recommend, where I could easily notice the effects?

Phase Retreat is different — you’re actually ‘retreating’. That implies some actual motion.

It also has phase in its’ name. It clearly has you blink out of harms way – the mechanics themselves are not different, either from a story/lore or a gameplay point of view.

I’ve yet to see a logical reason for why Blink does not trigger leap combos. If it’s intended, fine, I can live with that if the decision is at least explained properly. But not knowing is kinda annoying. =P

Only 2 examples :P. I think it’s already strong enough as it is since it’s a break stun, as opposed to S 3 or phase retreat. That’s why you have no combo finisher. Or would you like to see the CD doubled ?

I would like to see logic applied. If it’s intended that Blink does not trigger leap combos, I’d like to hear a A-net representative to state such, as well as why they’ve opted not to have it trigger combos. Alternatively, a more knowledgable Mesmer than myself being able to point out something that I’ve missed, which would explain the situation.

Also, unlike Blink, Phase Retreat and Sword # 3 doesn’t just move the player – they also spawn clones. The abilities are thus gap-closers/escapes, clone spawning – and trigger combo fields.

Blink, meanwhile, simply moves you from A to B, doesn’t spawn a clone and does not trigger combo fields. I don’t see why an increase to the cooldown would be warranted.

It’s starting to appear as if the lack of leap-triggers is a bug, rather than an intended effect. =P

Well you don’t actually leap when you Blink. You’re just kind of … over there now.

Thing is, you don’t. It’s just an illusion (no pun intended) of the spell effect. Your toon is actually moving very fast from point A to point B. This is evident by pathing issues, for an example, preventing you from blinking up a cliff.

Also, attempt to blink past some hostile mobs. They’ll aggro as they “see” you “run” past them.

I’m not sure if Phase Retreat is an actual blink or if it works under the same principle; however, Phase Retreat does trigger leap ombos.

I never quite understood why Blink does not trigger leaping combos. Phase Retreat and Sword #3 certainly does. Since Blink still suffers from pathing issues, it seems to work as a means of traveling from point A to point B rather quickly, rather than simply blinking in and out of existence. As such, shouldn’t blinking through a combo field thus trigger a leap combo?

Has there been given an official explanation for Blink doesn’t combo?

It all began when I wanted to take sexy pictures for my desktop cool screenshots of my Mesmers’ combat animations that I realized that I hadn’t actually seen his facial expressions.

#1: Shoot > Shoot > Apply a stack of Confusion.

#2: Blind target enemy and spawn a pistol-wielding clone who also has Shoot > Shoot > Apply a stack of confusion.

#3: Create an ethereal field which applies confusion to all foes who pass through it, and swiftness to all allies who pass through it.

While I’d love Pistol MH, and have wanted it since day one, I’m struggling to come up with what it’d actually do.

I mean, having a ranged auto-attack that scales off of Power is really nice, granted. Perhaps it could even have staged-attacks, like the scepter, applying bleeds or something.

So it’d go;

Shoot – Shoot – Bleed – Shoot – Shoot – Bleed. It’s in the Duelist tree, after all.

But what about P #2 and P # 3?

A knockdown, perhaps?

An AoE? “Rain of bullets” ?

I think the point is that you’re never in melee range with S/P PvE. You never get to use Sword auto-attack.

Scepter is our only ranged MH weapon.

It’s not unusual to meet all-thief teams, or have all my team mates being thieves. I can’t recall the last time I did any form of spvp without seeing several thieves.

And I mean, thieves are nice. They’re interesting to meet and play against, and useful to have at your side – but I wouldn’t personally mind to see the other classes as well. Whenever I do get to see non-thieves, whether as enemies or as team mates, they’re more often than not going to be elementalists or Mesmers. It’s very rare for me to see Engineers, Rangers or Guardians – for an example.

I mean, yeah, if the majority of players roll thieves – I guess it can’t be helped. They’re bound to pop up very often. I don’t perceive the class as overpowered on its own (they seem quite squishy, a high risk high reward kind of class). But I feel like I should voice my frustration at the lack of diversity in sPvP.

Pink and Purple are traditionally colours that symbolize male fertility, regalty and virility. Your fear of it is… Amusing.

That being said, I fully support any and all means towards further customization, even if the motives appear… lacking.

While MH Pistol is first on my desired list, I’d also love if they could add fans for our offhands, like in the artwork.

While I’ll often run Staff/Sword + Pistol, I’ll change to Greatsword/Scepter+Pistol for fights where I want to keep phantasms up.

The Illusionary Duelist is insane, especially if you’ve picked up the Pistol Trait from the Duelling Tree. If I can keep three of them up for an entire fight, I’ll be doing that.

Oh, they probably apply to your illusions as well – however, 15 % of 5 damage might result in 6 damage attacks. =P

Seems like you’re using two defensive, close-ranged weapon setups.

I’d say that getting anything done without Deceptive Evasion past 40 would be… Impressive.

A lot of people seem to recommend greatsword/staff. Personally, I don’t see the synergy. One wants power, the other wants condition damage. The one thing they have in common would be precision, with staff wielders going for power only for shatters.

I’d much rather propose going Greatsword and Sword/Sword or Greatsword and Sword/Pistol

I’d advice you to level a Mesmer if its the first class you ever make in this game.
Otherwise, the absence of swiftness or other speed/travel effects will really make the world feel slow and agonizing. =P

Btw, the point of IP is not doing dmg. I can shred my enemies into quarks without even touching IP if I want it that much.
